Itunes Showing IPod Photo as having 70g instead of 20g

All,
Since the upgrade to iTunes 6.0.5, and updating my iPod Photo (20g) to 1.2.1, iTunes is having a "space issue".
The iPod connects fine, and iTunes sees it, and sees it's contents, but the space available adds up to 70g. So when transferring songs, it is incorrectly writing them, and nothing really gets transferred.
A reinstall of iTunes and updater causes the problem to go away for at least one session if I'm lucky, but it always comes back when I connect the iPod a second time.
Any ideas on why this is occuring or how to fix it?
Thanks

Select you device from the left sidebar of iTunes and navigate to the Photos tab at the top. Do you have the Sync Photos With checkbox checked and set to iPhoto?

  • Syching Photos from Itunes to Ipod Photo 30G

I am having the worst time syching my photos from my PC computer to my ipod photo. I am using my family computer because my laptop is kaput.
I am starting over...from scratch. Deleted everything on my ipod and hoping to synch it all back on there from point blank.
I have succesfully synched my music. --playlists still in progress but that is my problem!
I am having trouble synching my photos back onto my ipod. It shows no progress just says "Syncing iPod. Do not Disconnect." And it kills be because I started out with about 15,000 pics to sync...I've taken it down to only 15 and it is still not doing what I want it too.
Maybe I should be more paitent but I don't remember it ever being this slow or without any progression showing on the screen.
What can I do, what am I doing wrong? What should I do?!
    Help! Please!

In case you still didn't get this to work, I found that iTunes didn't have permissions writing to the iPod photo cache directory on my Vista machine by default.
If you suspect that's happening for you, go ahead and try this:
    1) Find the directory on your computer where the "iPod Photo Cache" is stored.
    2) On that directory, grant "Read" and "Write" access to the "Users" group.
After that, try synching your photos, and hopefully you'll start to see some success...

  • Why does my iTunes show more photos than I really do on my device?

I only have 493 photos on my device but my iTunes shows that I have 644 and a lot of memory is used because of that? Any reason why this happens and how I might be able to delete the extra photos?

Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.
If this does not help, setting it up as new device would be the next step:

  • ITunes shows iPod Touch having almost 1 gb of "Other"

See title... I'm trying to figure out what the 1 GB of other on my iPod Touch is...
Relevant info: iPhone OS 3.1.1, iPod Touch 2nd Gen 16 GB

    Hello enigma_0Z
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
The storage space taken up by "Other" can be made up of, notes or files of any kind you've added to the iPod while using it as a hard disk or as you mentioned, album artwork and lyrics. Or sometimes when the iPod data base has become corrupt.
There will always be a few MBs of used space under "other" but if it's in GBs it's unusually large. This often happens when the iPod data base becomes corrupt. And as Anna notes below, it is probably a good idea to restore your iPod.
Thank you Anna. A simple mistype.
    Hope this helps.

  • ITunes shows no photos in iPad and iPhone

I got 13000 photos in iphoto they  dont show in ipad and iphone. 10.9 on mac, 7.0.3 (11B511) on iphone, 5.1.1 on ipad (it is an old one).

    Sorry if am not clear.
!- On the mac I have in iPhoto about 13000 pictures with album, maps, faces, etc. It work very well.
2- I go to itunes, swtch to iphone, Go to photos and verify that I have checked "All photos, Albums, Event and Faces". I press sync.
3- After it is finished I go on my iPhone in Photos. It says: "No Photos or Videos" and few sentences describing how to get photos. For my case it means to sync using itunes.
I have looked on the iphone during the whole process, as far as I can aproximately see during step 4 of 6 it creates an empty space for each Album, Face, etc. During step 5 it fill those spaces with the photos. During step 6, whem it say finishing sync everithing disapper and you get  "No Photos or Videos".
As a matter of curiosity, one time I had a power failure at the beginning of step 6. After I had some of my photos normally in iphone but when it re-sync I was back to   "No Photos or Videos"..
It is exactly the same on the ipadbut but the wording of the message is different having the same sense.
Note that before Maverick, on Mountain Lion, it worked quite normally.

  • Deleted iPod Playlist but iTunes shows iPod with same capacity as before!

    Hi!
Can you help out? I wanted to free up some space on my iPod, so I deleted one of my Playlists through iTunes, however, although the Playlist has successfully been erased, shown capacity has not! The playlist was ~2.5GB, but my iPod's capacity meter has not changed at all!!
What's up?! I would love the extra capacity please (my iPod nano 2G is the 8GB version)!!
Thanks & looking forward to your reply.
    Stefan

Indeed you deleted the playlist but not the songs... you can check on the "Music" tab that all the songs remain in your ipod... if you want to delete songs you have to do it from this "Music" tab... deleting the playlist doesn't delete the songs inside

  • Problems Moving Ripped DVD from Itunes to Ipod

Problems Moving Ripped DVD from Itunes to Ipod
I am having a problem transfering ripped DVD's from the Itunes Video folder to the actual Ipod. I thought one of the cool points of the Video Ipod was that you could play DVD's on it. I know I needed to use special software to achieve this since I researched it here. I am using Handbrake Lite since regular Handbrake look too daunting for me. I also used Isquint, since it was recommened here. I used both without changing anything on both of those progams other than click the go button. The DVD's will play in Itunes but it won't allow me to drag them to the Ipod. They are in the Video folder in Itunes. What in the wild, wild world of sports am I do'in wrong? I assume it's something stupid because the device is stellar. Hope someone out there can lend us a hand.
    Kind Regards,
    Julias

I am having a similar problem, and i cant contact ipod 2 ask 4 help - its not explainedo online:
my ipod will only upload video podcasts, no ordinary videos, except for one. they are all the same format (.MOV quicktime), and my i tunes has them all on it and plays them fine there, its just when i drag and drop or insert my videos onto my ipod any other way theydont get uploaded onto my ipod like everything else does, there seems no way that i can get my own videos onto it. only one video that isnt a podcast has ever uploaded, and its the same format as the others!

  • I'm running iTunes 10.5 on my Macbook Pro and software 4.1 on my 2g iPod touch and having problems getting photo's to sync. Same error iPod can't be synced req'd file can't be found. Tried deleting the photo cache, restoring the iPod etc but to no avail.

I'm running iTunes 10.5 on my Macbook Pro and software 4.1 on my 2g iPod touch and having problems getting photo's to sync. Same error, "iPod can't be synced req'd file can't be found". Tried deleting the photo cache, restoring the iPod etc but to no avail.

    Try here:
    iTunes: Unable to sync photos
Usually deleting the iPod Photo Cache Folder works. Note that if you sync via the folder method, make sure you dlete all the ifolders since :
The iPod Photo Cache stores the photos that are optimized for display on your iPod, iPad, or iPhone. The location of this folder depends on the syncing options you select. In iTunes, if you change the selection in the “Sync Photos From” pop-up menu, a new iPod Photo Cache folder will be created (and the previous folder will remain).

  • ITunes does not show my iPhoto photos and albums in iPod Photos tab

When I connect my iPod to my Mac, iTunes displays the iPod device. However, under the Photos tab, when I select the "Sync photos from" checkbox, and select "iPhoto" from the dropdown list, the "All photos and albums" radio button below it shows "(0 photos)". Also, the "Selected albums (0 photos)" radio button is grayed out, and doesn't display any of my albums or photos in the list below.
So, basically, iTunes acts as if I don't have anything in iPhoto at all. I did an experiment, and moved my iPhoto Library out of the Pictures folder, launched iPhoto, and created a new iPhoto Library. I also added some albums and photos. These appeared in iTunes just fine! But when I moved my original iPhoto Library folder back, iTunes went back to displaying nothing.
I also tried rebuilding my iPhoto libary (launch holding down the Cmd-Opt keys, and selecting all items to rebuild. This did not fix anything in iTunes.

Have you checked for non-ascii characters in your Album Names, Picture Titles or Keywords? Specifically, be wary of any characters apart from the 326 letters of the alphabet and the basic 0 - 9. !@£$%^&*() can all cause problems.
Also, have a look at this thread,
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=778068&tstart=0
About half way down there's a post from Dave E which contains the following:
Sal, I had a similar problem once. I'm sorry you had to go through so much of this but maybe what I discovered can still help you.
    - View your albumdata.xml file in some text editor, like TextEdit.
    - Do a Find (cmd f) for "List of Keywords"
    - The XML under that looks kind of like this:
    <dict>
    <key>1</key>
    <string>Favorite</string>
    <key>6</key>
    <string>Birthday</string>
    <key>3</key>
    </dict>
You will probably have more keywords, this is just an example. But see the format - everything that has <something> ends with </something>.
When I had the problem, the example above looked like:
    <dict>
    <key>1</key>
    <string>Favorite <key>6</key>
    <string>Birthday</string>
    <key>3</key>
    </dict>
Notice the line return and </string> are missing for "Favorite". This happened to one of my keywords, and I don't know what caused it, but I deleted that keyword (and the one after it) from within iPhoto's preferences, and typed them in again.
The problem went away. Maybe some bogus character got into the keywords to make the XML go bad.
    Regards

  • ITunes unable to update iPod (photo)

When I attempt to 'update ipod' itunes beings it's thing but, then reports that "the disk could not be read from or written to".
I do not belive that this is an iPod issue, more a software one.
I also noticed that whilst attempting to copy to the ipod, the .Mac sync (menu bar) icon is rotating. When I click 'Ok' on the warning dialogue box, the sync stops! also when I click on the sync icon it reports that it was last synced earlier this evening.
I have never noticed this before, but then I was never looking! Does anyone know about or encountered this before? and could this be responsible for itunes not updating my ipod??
    Any help appreciated.

  • I am Having iPod Photo troubles.

My ipod photo has been having some issues.  I plug it into the wall or dock and I get the extremely low battery symbol.  Eventually it goes to the apple logo as if it is turning on, and most times it will not turn on.  SOmetimes however it DOES turn on, but with issues.  It shows that it is charging, but if I do anything it either frrezes and restarts or tells me I am out of battery, while it shows the charging icon in the top corner.  I have tried a reset on the device many times, as well as a factory reset through Itunes and nothing has resolved this issue.  Do I need a new battery, or is there another issue?  Thanks in advance, Bearclaw117.

So the ipod is currently sitting on a dock and it shows the logo as though its going to start, but then goes blank and then repeats the thing over and over

  • IPod Photo no longer recognized by iTunes 10

I do not know how long ago my iPod Photo stopped being recognized by iTunes. It is certainly an old iPod that I occasionally use to record voice for podcast.
Today, I noticed that this iPod Photo no longer shows up in iTunes 10. I connected it to two Mac's; one is a G5 tower running OS 10.5.8 and the other is a Mac Pro running OS 10.6.1.
My current objective is to get the voice file off of this iPod Photo. But, of course, it will be nice to have access to it in iTunes 10.
    Please advise.

    Hello Profinite,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Not sure as to why this happening, other than the fact that is probably related to the new iTunes 10. Have you try any of the basics yet? Since the iPod does not appear on either system, the cause could be the cable you are using to connect it with. If at all possible, try using a different cable. I would also try different USB ports on each computer as well. What happens when you reset it with it still connected to either Mac?
Another possible solution to at least get it mounted as drive on one of your systems is to place the iPod into *Disk Mode* as described in this Apple support document.
