ITunes shuts down computer while trying to synch!!
Someone out there please help me. iTunes support kissed me off. Here is the situation. I have a 3G iPhone that synchs up to my laptop just fine (Windows Vista machine). When I try to synch up to my desktop (Windows XP) as soon as it starts to detect that the phone is connected, my computer shuts down and starts a reboot!! I can't confirm if the phone is even recognised by iTunes when this happens. iTunes seems to open properly and I can access the web site and navagate around as long as the phone isn't connected.
Anybody have any ideas?? HELP!

Nope, don't think it is USB or power supply problem. I can plug other peripherals into the USB ports and nothing like this happens.

IPhoto 11 shuts down unexpectedly while trying to upgrade library
iPhoto 11 wants to upgrade the photo library, but shuts down before the process completes. I upgraded to iPhoto 11 about 2 months ago and had no problems until this week. Now I can't open the app or access photos
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

MacBook 17" 2011 (Mavericks) shuts down randomly while trying to start from Profile
It's weird. The computer will turn on into recovery mode just fine, where the disk utility says that everything is A-OK. It will even turn on and load a Guest profile just fine, which is what I'm on currently. But if I turn on my computer and load my actual profile, this is what happens:
I click on my picture and enter my password.
A grey status bar starts to load about a quarter to a half of the way
The computer shuts off, complete black out
It was working fine last night, and I have no idea what changed as I woke up to the turned-off computer. I tried resetting the SMC, which hasn't helped.

Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

How come when i try to update ipod2g 3.1.3 to 4.2 in itunes an error occurs and itunes shuts down?
OKAY SO EVERYTIME I TRY TO UPDATE MY IPOD TOUCH 2ND GENERATION iOS 3.1.3 TO THE LATEST IN ITUNES WHICH IS 4.2 . i start the download and during the download my computer bring up one of those error things where you click send report or dont send report and i click send report and itunes shuts down i have tried everyhing clicking the restore button update button, even doing the shift and trying to update to 4.0 . nothing seems to work i cant get facebook, twitter, or any app that requires 3.2 & higher. AND YES I AM SURE THAT I HAVE AN IPOD TOUCH 2G AND MY IOS IS 3.1.3 ... WHAT DO I DO SOMEONE PLEASE HELP.. Itunes shuts down when trying to move songs onto Ipod
For the last three weeks, I have been able to open i tunes, play music from i tunes, but when i plug my i pod in to transfer new stuff (from cds and i store) i tunes gives me a message syaing that it has encountered a problem and needs to shut down.
i have tried everything to get around this, but it bascially wont let me put more songs on to my i pod and forces me to close the window.
Help please!!!now my ipod does work on my other comptuter without any problems.

The Genuis bar at an Apple retail store could help with this step. But I realize that this is the step with the highest level of inconvenience.

I recently started having the problem of iTunes shutting down immediately when someone on another computer enters the password i have on my shared music and then try to access it. the message i receive on my computer is "The application iTunes shut down unexpectedly." i tried having other users try to access it and same result every time. is there something i can do to fix this or does anyone know what could be wrong?

When in iTunes if I try to change info such as song name while in the music library I get a 'send error report' messege and iTunes shuts down. I acctually I don't have to change anything just click in the field and when it turns blue which indicates I can start typing I get the windows error box pop-up. This started after the update 11.1.0.126 but I just saw the problem today as I rarely need to rename a song or other data.
Try this and see if it helps.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. -
ITunes shut down when trying to change photo setting
I just bought a new 30GB iPod on Wed and also had to d/l the new itunes. Everything snycs well, music, video, but when i try change the default photo settings iTunes shuts down. The defaut setting is for the photos to be in the Photoshop album folder. I dont have Photoshop, and everytime i try to change the photo folder it shuts down.

okay. i haven't had a lot of dealings with that message in that context with a 7.0.x. (troubleshooting techniques for it differ depending on what you are doing with itunes when itunes throws it at you.)
so (when you get home) let's get a crash log from itunes, and send it to the Apple engineers for a look.
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
drwtsn32 -i
And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log"
prior to collecting the itunes crash log, delete any existing crash logs in there. (we want to make sure we send the correct crash log.)
Generate the crash, collect the crash log, and and send it as an attachment to this email address.

ITunes shuts down when syncing iTouch with another computer
Decided to use a different computer(laptop) running windows. Have moved library via hard drive transfer. Went to connect iTouch- couldn't restore it, but genius bar got it working. Probable antivirus conflict. Now after updating software for both iTunes and iTouch and consolidating library , can't get sync to work. I backed up iTouch before attempting sync and it did import contacts etc. But now it won't sync music library. When I manually move an album to the device , now iTunes shuts down and becomes unresponsive after the first 3 or 4 seconds of the tranfer. Very frustrating.

I appreciate your response but not sure now if it could have been anything in that answer because.......
This problem appears to have gone away, not sure why but I have a possible theory. This is only a theory on my part as I'm not knowledgeable on the inner workings of Firefox. When I installed Firefox 18 it had all the automatic updating options turned on by default. By the time I turned them all off, I'm assuming it had started to download updates for all the plugins and addons, like java, quicktime etc. etc. etc. even though I hadn't personally initiated those downloads and updates. My theory is that once those downloads had started, even though I had turned off the automatic updating, it was going to continue downloading the updates that had started and was not going to stop until it had done so.
I do not disable the anti-phishing and evil website detection stuff but I seriously doubt the updating for those items would have consisted of 89 megabytes of data but I could be wrong.
So for now, I'll close this out and mark it solved and continue to monitor to see if I have any more "weirdness" go on. -
Iphone unplugged during update. Itunes shutting down.
I was updatting my Iphone and it was disconnected from the computer in the middle of the update. The screen on my IPhone says to plug it into itunes, but every time I plug my phone into my computer Itunes shuts down. I have already tried uninstalling itunes and re installing, the same thing happens.

To enter recover mode:
1. Turn your phone OFF. If you can't turn it off, FORCE a turn off by holding down the Power and the Home buttons together for 5 seconds.
2. While your phone is turned OFF, HOLD DOWN the Home button. Keep it held down.
3. Connect your phone to the USB cable on your computer. KEEP the Home button held down during all this time.
4. Keep holding the Home button down until you see the iTunes/restore screens appear on your computer and your iPhone. -
Itunes shuts down when clicking anything
My iTunes shuts down when I click anything on the screen other than the music. If I click anything on the sidebar (Store, Playlists, Library, etc.) or the album artwork it shuts down. I have tried pulling all the iTunes preferences out of the library and restarting the computer. This does not fix the problem. This has been going on for a few months, but I have been downloading the newest versions of iTunes and it continues to happen.
