ITunes shuts down immediately after start-up, while accessing the iTunes store.  MacBook Air OS 10.6.8

I cannot access iTunes.  It shuts immediately afyer start-up.  I upgraded to 10.5.1andit gets to the point of contacting the iTUnes store when it shuts down.  Any suggestions?

Well before you try unistalling itunes and all that try right clicking on it and running it as administrator. It worked for me.
But in the event you do have to unistall, make sure you consolidate you library first library>organize library>consolidate. Then do all that or you will loose all your playlists, and if you have alot of music on your computer you don't keep in itunes it will be a long process to put everything back in it, or weed out the songs you don't want in there.
Also if you do the second idea make su eyou restart your computer before you open itunes again.

  • E5-00: Ovi Maps shuts down immediately after start...

Recently, my Ovi Maps got some sort of error/problem, which I dont understand, nor dont know what to do about it.
When i open Ovi Maps, it automatically shuts down after a few seconds.
I tried to update to the newest version, when went succesfully. However, the same error remains, it still kepss shutting automatically.
Does any know what this is causing, and/or how it can be solved?
Im using an E5-00, firmware version 042.014.231.01 (latest version).
    Thanks in advance!

    @thamaestro
If you update from OVI Maps v3.04 to v3.06 old map data from 00.01.25.114 has to be deleted and new data from 00.02.42.122 downloaded. Are you saying that you watched new regional map data being downloaded and installed as this takes quite a while?
If you haven't downloaded new map data, would suggest that you delete E:\cities & .qf file, re-start OVI Maps application upon device to re-initialise and re-create necessary folder structure.

  • System shuts down immediately after starting

I have performed a system copy using a procedure that worked great for me in the past. The target was an new empty iSeries that has never been used before.  Everything seemed to copy just normally.
    The problem is this:
I log on as <SID>OFR and start the system with option 2 from the R3TASKS menu.   The usual work process jobs start up and immediately shut down.
The WP jobs have this in the job log:
    CPC1224
    Message . . . . :   Job ended abnormally.
Cause . . . . . :   A SIGKILL signal was received for the job. The action for the signal was to terminate the job.
Any suggestions of how to determine the cause here?
    Thank you
    Alan

    Jurgen,
Thanks for your reply.  You are right, the key was in that file. (Volker also pointed me in that direction). For some reason it had a name for my server that was not in my CFTGCP #10.
    WARNING => DpNetCheck: NiHostToAddr(PTC02.PTC) failed (rc=-2)
I do not know where it got that address from.  It is close to the correct address but because it was not exactly correct the network access failed.  Once I made the change the jobs stayed up.
On to to the next problem....

This happens without any error pop-up, the programs just disappear. I haven't the faintest idea why this is happening and would really appreciate some help.

  • My calendar just shuts down immediately after opening.

Hello,  My calendar just shuts down immediately after opening.  I reset the ipad and it still isn't working  Any ideas? iPad 2

I only kow how to disengae yahoo but maybe the process will help for other email accounts linked to ipad calendar.  Just remeber to go to email accounts and shut down any associations with other programs.
Here is what I did in yahoo.mail
    Went to My Yahoo
selected quicklinks (on top left of page)
Calendar was not shown , so I selected more yahoo services at bottom of list.
Candar was among many and I selected it.
You then see your calendar with a margin on left that probably shows a checked box of te name of you calendar.  Uncheck it.
Also check the subscriptions.  You must decide what makes sense for you there.
To be more sure,  delete any recent calendar entries in your yahoo calendar or ipad calendar that might have cuased the problem.  that's what happened to me.  I noticed the problem right after I accepted a ics invitation from some else.  I think the ics invitation that I accepteed from my email was the real culprit but who knows.  All I know is that all these things combined solved my problem.
    Close the My Yahoo
Remeber to check your ipad for any associations and eliminate them and point the ipad calendar to icloud.
    Reboot you ipad
    Check for results
    I hope this helps

  • TS1717 iTunes shuts down immediately after opening (Windows 7)

I'm having trouble with iTunes shutting down immediately after opening. I've tried reinstalling iTunes and QuickTime, but I'm still having the same problem. Any suggestions? I have a 64 bit version of Windows 7, and the iTunes installer file has "64" in the name, so I think it's a 64 bit version as well.

Do you get an error message when iTunes shuts down? If so, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

  • PPC MacMini shuts down immediately after boot, LED blinks

A client gave me his PowerPC MacMini which boots up but then shuts down after a few seconds. Unfortunately, there's not enough time to open the system preferences between booting and automatic shutdown.
I've tried to boot the computer from a system DVD and with "T" pressed for target mode, but it always boots up completely from the internal drive. Booting with "Shift" pressed boots in safe mode, but the machine still shuts down after a few seconds.
Interestingly, the power LED blinks about once per second. I wasn't able to find anything about this on the Net.

    AndyO wrote:
If, on the other hand, the mini is starting up, and then failing, and the light isn't so much blinking as pulsing, then the system may be suffering protective shutdown as a result of overheating. That can be tested by seeing whether it runs longer after being left unplugged for several hours, thus being cold, than it does if it's been running (or attempted to be run) for some time, and is thus already warmed. In that event, the mini will need to be disassembled to some extent to try and identify whether the fan is running, the CPU heat-sink is firmly attached and the thermal pad which is squeezed between the underside of the logic board and the base of the system is replaced.
I have a Mac Mini Intel Core 2 Duo that is suffering almost the same symptoms (shut-down almost immediately after startup); however, it DOES appear to be for a variable length of time based upon how much time I let it sit and 'cool' down; therefore, I believe I'm experiencing an over-heating issue.
I've installed a matching 1GB pair of RAM about 1.5 months ago and all has been fine until now. The unexpected (which is now expected) shutdown after startup is occurring on both Mac OS X 10.5.2 and Windows Vista (on Boot Camp partition) ... of particular note ... the Windows side shuts down more quickly (likely due to it not having the same system monitoring/energy handling tools that would be available to the Mac OS X side ... so I would suspect it to over-heat sooner on the Windows side).
Successfully completed Hardware tests (simple & extended) reported memory and other system hardware was fine. 'Check/Verify Disk' on Mac/Windows side reported no issues with either partitions.
Attempts to reset the PRAM and SMC have not solved the problem.
There was one instance, after startup, that the fan ran at full speed continuously and noticed that the power light was not on at all ... at the time, I was on the Mac startup disk and it stayed up and running for about 20 minutes or more until I decided to shutdown and test the Windows side. Upon restart, the fan did not run continuously, and the Windows side shut-down shortly after start up.
Overall, I'm fairly convinced it is an over-heating problem. If anyone has any ideas or reference material to confirm or how-to-do "the CPU heat-sink is firmly attached and the thermal pad which is squeezed between the underside of the logic board and the base of the system is replaced" that would be greatly appreciated.
I am not ruling out sending the machine into the retailer for servicing/diagnostics; however, if there's a relative quick fix so that I don't have to identify and remove confidential/sensitive info first, that would be preferred.
    Thanks.

Mail application keeps shutting down short after start up - resulting in an error message. how can I repair what is wrong without losing my mail history?

Will I lose my emails I have on there? I have numerous client email files and can't afford to lose any of them. I do have everything backed up but I'm fearful of losing important client info. What if something happened during the back up and it doesn't have my files?

  • Macbook pro 2012 shuts down right after start up!

macbook pro 2012 shuts down right after start up. I tried the recovery mode but disk doctor cannot repair Mac osX hard drive. This is the second time that I have to format hard drive and install agin all applications. please advise!

I am not familiar with "disk doctor" but if you used Disk Utility to repair or reformat the hard disk, and it failed again, it is very likely the drive itself needs to be replaced. It cannot be repaired.
If Disk Utility cannot repair a hard disk it definitely needs replacement.
All 2012 MacBook Pro models are less than a year old and therefore covered under Apple's standard one year warranty. Have them fix it.

  • MacBook Pro keeps shutting down immediately after startup chime

I booted into Windows 7 on my boot camp partition and was about to play Dirt 3 for the 1st time.  I was in the options menu of the game and my MacBook Pro just shut down/turned off instantly.
I turned back on, holding in Option so I could boot into Windows again, but the computer just turned off immediately after the startup chime.  I turned on again, this time I didn't hold in Option, so I could boot into OS X (my default startup volume) and the same thing happened - MBP shut down immediately after the startup chime.  I tried again, same thing.  I tried again, and this time it booted fine into OS X, and all seems ok.
    Any idea what's going on?

Hi. When you were in the recovery drive doing permissions, did you try and run a repair of the boot drive? Did you try single user mode? Try these first and then go back and try to reinstall the operating system. When I say repair boot drive I don't mean permissions. There are both options in disk utilities. When you open disk utilities ,you will see in the left column  two drives plus possibly  a boot partition that look like an external driv. click on the second drive and in first aid use repair disk. If you still can't boot and it will not let you restore, you may have to do a clean install.   http://support.apple.com/kb/PH18869?viewlocale=en_US

  • HP DV6000 series laptop - Shut down immediately as soon as I connect the power Charger

    Hi,
I am using a hp dv6000 series laptop for last 2 years....  Accidentally, water fell on my laptop and then my laptop itself fell down from the table.
One the first day when I tried restarting it  there was no response ( No power LED no display nothing, no cpu fan etc ...)
I disassembled the laptop, cleaned the RAM hard disk, front bezel, keyboard. I used a hair dryer to dry out any of the moisture. My laptop then started showing some response ... now after 4 days .... it is working all fine except the display...
    The problem is :
    1. The Laptop backlight is not working... (but I can see the display with a external flashlight pointed to screen)
    2. The laptop works fine on battery... but as soon as I connect the power charger... it immediatly shuts down.
Currently because of display problem... I am using the (RDP) windows remote desktop connection from an another laptop to access the desktop.... I logged on from another laptop and checked that all the internal harware parts are working fine.
Also, sometimes suddenly randomly the display backlight starts working fine and goes off randomly.
Please suggest. I seached all the online help but I have found no help on "Shut down immediately as soon as I connect the power Charger"...
    thanks.

It sounds like the LCD power inverter has been damaged and would need to be replaced.  As far as the AC adapter/battery issue, I'm not sure.  It sounds like you need to retire this notebook early.

  • Powerbook shuts down immediately after startup

    Hi
Our PowerBook has started to automatically sleep immediately after starting up or being woken from its sleep.
For some reason prior to starting up it has always run through a black screen with code similar to the initial DOS code that you'd see on a Windows PC.
This code stays on screen just long enough to read a message that indicates temperature issues, however the mac is not hot in any way.
We also find that if it is shut down for a long period, it will start and run some time before giving up and going back to sleep.
Our guess is that there is a temperature sensor malfunction of some kind. If this is so, what can we do to resolve this.
    Craig

There have been many discussions about this problem in these forums, but unfortunately the search feature is currently disabled. However, if you feed Google with the appropriate keywords (e.g. PowerBook narcolepsy temperature sensor) you will find lots of material on this topic including potential cures.
