ITunes shuts down when attempting to use Visualizer

Just downloaded Windows 7. Having compatibility issues. Keep getting message to turn off compatibility mode, but have no idea how to do that in Win 7.
Also, as subject line indicates, when I turn on Visualizer the iTunes program immediately shuts down.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I upgraded Quicktime and now it works.

  • ITunes shuts down when attempting to sync iPod nano (4th gen)

Ever since I upgraded to iTunes8, I haven't been able to sync my iPod nano.
When I plug the nano into my laptop, iTunes pops up as usual, but then immediately stops working. A box reading: itunes has stopped working pops up, then the program closes automatically.
I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling, resetting the iPod and trying to restore the iPod to get new stuff on it, but iTunes just shut down again as it was starting to restore the iPod.
SO- I have lost everything on my iPod-- I can't use it for anything! It's really frustrating, and I'm not sure what to do at this point!
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!

  • Itunes shuts down when clicking anything

My iTunes shuts down when I click anything on the screen other than the music. If I click anything on the sidebar (Store, Playlists, Library, etc.) or the album artwork it shuts down. I have tried pulling all the iTunes preferences out of the library and restarting the computer. This does not fix the problem. This has been going on for a few months, but I have been downloading the newest versions of iTunes and it continues to happen.

    Hey chaimoy,
It seems like you may be experiencing an unexpected quit from iTunes when importing a file into the iTunes library. I have an article for you that addresses this circumstance, and it can be found below:

  • ITunes shuts down when I connect my iPod 30gb

I desperately need help. Recently my computer crashes and I reformated it. So I had to reinstall iTunes. Ever since then iTunes shuts down when I connect my iPod 30gb. A windows error message appears saying iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to shut down. I am unable to update my iPod which drives me crazy. Somebody please help!
I browsed through some threads which have similar problems as I do, but I am unable to reply in any. It says: This topic has been archived - replies are not allowed.
There's this thread here about the problem I am facing but I doesn't seem to understand the solution to it.

    Can somebody please help me?

A windows error message appears saying iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to shut down.
let's get a crash log from itunes, and send it to the Apple engineers for a look.
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
    drwtsn32 -i
    And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log"
prior to collecting the itunes crash log, delete any existing crash logs in there. (we want to make sure we send the correct crash log.)
Generate the crash, collect the crash log, and and send it as an attachment to this email address.
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread
    - The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
    - the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs)
    - A concise description of the issue you are seeing
    - The exact text of the error message you are seeing

  • Imac shuts down when not in use

I purchased my 21.5" imac July 9, 2011 with Snow Leopard. No problems for 1 month. Then about August 12th or so, my imac started to mysteriously "shut down" when not in use. I'll be working on it, then get up to go pour myself a cup of coffee or something...then I come back to my computer that has now shut off. It is NOT asleep...it is OFF. So I turn it back on and it is fine. This has happened a few times now within a week. Anyone else have this problem?
By the way, I am now running Lyon, as of August 18th. When the imac shut down, I was usually viewing photos or on the web.
    thanks!

First thing I would try is to reset the SMC, it can help with power related problems. Shut down the Mac and unplug everything including the power. Press and hold down the power button for 10 seconds. Plug in the computer but be careful not to press the power button as you are plugging it in. Wait a few seconds and turn it on. Hopefully it won't happen again. There is always Apple Support. Don't let the problem persist until your free phone tech support has expired (3 months). I would also recommend using the iMac with an UPS, and at the very least, a high quality surge protector.
If you have MS Word or a similar word processor you could try enabling the autosave feature and set it to 1 minute intervals. Keep a document open and if you come back to the computer and it has shut down, you can look at the last time the document was updated and know what time the comptuer turned itself off. It could be useful in diagnosing the problem.

  • TS1363 why does Itunes shut down when I purchase songs.also when trying to download updates it fails to update.I am using windows 8

when I purchase songs Itunes shuts down.also when I try to update I tunes I keep getting an error message that says failed to download

I appreciate your response but not sure now if it could have been anything in that answer because.......
This problem appears to have gone away, not sure why but I have a possible theory. This is only a theory on my part as I'm not knowledgeable on the inner workings of Firefox. When I installed Firefox 18 it had all the automatic updating options turned on by default. By the time I turned them all off, I'm assuming it had started to download updates for all the plugins and addons, like java, quicktime etc. etc. etc. even though I hadn't personally initiated those downloads and updates. My theory is that once those downloads had started, even though I had turned off the automatic updating, it was going to continue downloading the updates that had started and was not going to stop until it had done so.
I do not disable the anti-phishing and evil website detection stuff but I seriously doubt the updating for those items would have consisted of 89 megabytes of data but I could be wrong.
So for now, I'll close this out and mark it solved and continue to monitor to see if I have any more "weirdness" go on.

In addition to the other requested information, when was the last time ... or perhaps this will be the first time, to run Preferential Treatment to ensure your preference files aren't corrupt? If you can download it, it's at http://www.jonn8.com/html/pt.html. If you have OnyX, you can check your preference files using it, too.

  • ITunes Shuts Down When Launching the Store

I am able to open and use iTunes normally for playing songs and playlist organization, but every time I try to launch the store iTunes shuts down completely. No error message or warning. I have not had any problmes with it in the past, and nothing has changed as far as settings or new hardware/software. As far as I can see all firewalls and anti-virus programs have been turned off, and I am able to log into other file sharing services fine. Could it be a low memory issue?
    Anyone have any ideas??
All advice and help is appreciated...thanks!!
      Windows XP

I am having a similar problem at home but I have found a pattern. I have itunes installed on my laptop. When I launch the store through my connection at work everything works fine - the CPU is only 60 % peaked at the worst time and this is with MS Excel, and a TV streamer working simultaneously. When I attempt to lauch the store at home on my laptop using either a wireless or a wire connection through my Xplornet satellite connection the connection freezes, my CPU is 100.0 % used. and and the system is frozen. I can still play tunes from my library but itunes is functioning very slowly.
I also frequently get a message using the help function in the program that I do not have a "secured connection to the store.
This problem just started after Xmas and I also installed the new Itunes version. Everything was perfoming fine at home with all of my computers. Now both my desktop and laptop suffer the same consequences
Like you, all of my firewall and Explorer settings are correct. Based on my opposite results and consistentcy, I therefore contend its the internet connection that appears to have some bearing on the problem. I also removed Norton from all of my systems and replaced my protection with something less greedy on my resources. Although my connection is not true high speed from a performance standpoint it is still approx. 80 - 90 times fast than an analog connection. Because I live in the country where true high speed connections don't exist, this is as good as it gets.
Check your signal strength in your internet connection. It would be appreciated if Apple could respond to my email last week. After all we are the ones prepared to buy downloaded music and we can't without getting these bugs resolved.
Should I reinstall the old Itunes version ? There is an old saying - " If it works fine - change it ! "
    Thanks

  • ITunes shuts down when syncing iTouch with another computer

Decided to use a different computer(laptop) running windows. Have moved library via hard drive transfer. Went to connect iTouch- couldn't restore it, but genius bar got it working. Probable antivirus conflict. Now after updating software for both iTunes and iTouch and consolidating library , can't get sync to work. I backed up iTouch before attempting sync and it did import contacts etc. But now it won't sync music library. When I manually move an album to the device , now iTunes shuts down and becomes unresponsive after the first 3 or 4 seconds of the tranfer. Very frustrating.

look at this article.  The article give a link for XP.

  • New iMac but iTunes shuts down when I download or add "purchased" videos.

I just bought a new iMac, first I went to an Apple store and inquired that my main use would be with iTunes. I began to transfer songs from my iPod to the Mac using the Senuti file. The major problem is that I am forced to manually add the songs and videos to my library, but whenever theres an attempt to add any videos that I have purchased iTunes shuts its application, forcing me to reopen it only the find the video is not added. I did a test by purchasing a new video and I can see the download completing, but when it does the final part, again itunes shuts down and I've lost the video. Someone sent me a video gift and I was unable to download the video and the itunes store indicates that I have already spent the download, but its not in my library? I don't know what the problem is.

First, I'd suggest you make sure that your iMac has the latest updates: Mac OS X 10.4.9, QuickTime 7.1.6, and iTunes 7.1.1. If it doesn't, update and see if that improves things.
If not, Senuti may have created a corrupt iTunes library. You may need to delete the iTunes library files and add your tracks and videos again (and for any that haven't transferred from your iPod, you may wish to try a different transfer utility).
    Hope this helps.

  • TS1717 itunes shuts down when printing a playlist

my itunes always shuts down when printing a custom playlist.  Can anyone help me with this?

Friends:  Here's the answer to at least my problem of having iTunes crash most of the way through Step 3 of the iTunes Match process:  There were Voice Memo files mixed in with the music files.  Although both are listed as *.m4a files, the match system hiccupped when encountering them.
Solution:  Use the "Info" button to find out where the possibly offending files are located.  Go to that location and move them someplace else.
Once the offending files are gone the entire process works like a charm.
Now why couldn't Apple have told us that little "secret" instead of having us *customers* thrashing around in the dark?
Hopefully this will help someone else out there.
