Itunes shuts down while downloading cd (music)  onto itunes please help!!!!

My computer has been shutting down each time I attempt to transfer music from a cd onto itunes. I have tried deleting my itunes from my computer and installing the new version, however I continue to experience this problem. Itunes will allow me to get 6 to 8 tracks downloaded from my cd and then it shuts down my entire computer. Any help would be appreciated...THANK YOU!!!!!!

I would start here. I would also go to your computer manufacturer's site and download all the latest firmware for your computer, including for your CD drives.

    Hello christine valentina,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If the failed installation of Java is preventing your computer from shutting down normally, then I'd like you to please first try to force quit the unresponsive installer.

    Hello!
I just figured this out.....When Firefox is open, my Illustrator CS2 modifier keys stop working?
As soon as I shut down Firefox, they start working again. Please help!
    Thanks!
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

  • Mac book pro trys to shut down while downloading?

my mac book pro trys to shut down while im downloading for some reason..

    Hi Monroeeugene,
I'm not sure if you mean shutting down or going to sleep ... but this article will explain how to change your sleep settings so your downloads don't get interrupted.
    Mac Basics: Set your preferences
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2490
    Change your Mac's sleep settings
To conserve energy, all Macs have the ability to sleep. When you haven't used your Mac for a set amount of time, it enters a low-power mode until you wake it by pressing the keyboard, trackpad, or moving the mouse. Sleep doesn't turn off your computer; it merely puts it into an inactive state that consumes less power.
    Open System Preferences
    Choose View > Energy Saver.
Choose the Power Adapter or Battery tab. If you're using a desktop Mac (a Mac mini, iMac, or Mac Pro), the Power Adapter and Battery tabs do not appear.
Move the sliders for both the computer and display to change the times in which they go to sleep.
Select any other options you want, such as sleep and wake.
    Hope this helps ...

  • Shutting down/Restart problem (as I type this) - please help

Info: I have an external firewire HD attached. I inserted a Compact Flash card (photos on it). The Lexar card reader is new and worked fine yesterday. I double clicked it to get to the photos and I think this is where the candy colored swirling circle started it's swirling (like an hour glass in Windows I suppose).
Well when it started the swirling, I just thought, it's taking time to access the large (only about 5) digital photos on the card. So I went about my business and did a lot of things on my computer (as I'm still typing now).
The problem: I instructed OS X to restart and the swirling indicator continues and the cpu won't go into restart. At this point, I can not even select shut down. If I minimize this window and scroll my mouse over the desktop I get the swirling indicator still.
I don't know how to force the computer to quit what it is doing. I pulled the CF card out after many minutes of the swirling (didn't help).
Should I resort to manually pushing the button on my monitor or Cube to force it to shutdown (if it will) or is there a safer way to proceed.

I disconnected the card reader from the 4 port USB hub.
The computer immediately went into restart (which I had selected 10 minutes ago).
So there's a problem with the hub I suspect. In even OS 9 this particular USB hub gave me fits. So I may just need to replace it.
By the way, on restart, I got a message on my screen that the USB device had low power and it was recommended that I connect it to a power supply on the wall. I checked, and it is connected to the power supply on the wall. Perhaps the power supply has gone bad and isn't giving any power to the hub. However, there is a red light that comes on, ontop the hub, when I connect the power to it (red light goes away when I pull the power from it). And get this, when I disconnect the power, the red light goes away and a green light comes on (probably getting power from the computer). Should I suspect that when the power supply is connected that the red light is actually an indicator that the hub is not getting power considering all this? And when the power plug is disconnected the hub defaults to getting its power from the the computer?
Anyways, what's a good reliable USB hub to purchase?

  • IMac shuts down during Mac OS X Bootcamp Installation PLEASE HELP!!

    Hi,
Just opened my new iMac and have installed Windows XP Professional SP 2. I have inserted the Mac OS X installation disc, per the instructions, but Boot Camp won't install in Windows! It looks like it is going to copy files, but then it just shuts down all of a sudden and reboots to Windows. Once it is rebooted, there is a "critical error" message - yikes! I wish I didn't need Windows on my new Mac, but I have to have it for work. Please please please help.
    Thanks

Sounds like the new iMac may not support XP. Someone was curious about XP support on MBP today also.
For my time/effort/money I'd choose Windows 7 Home Premium, probably 64-bit.

  • MacBook 13" aluminium shuts down and won't turn back on, please help.

Hi there. I have a MacBook from early 2009 the aluminium one running snow leopard 10.6.1.
Yesterday it shut down automatically, just went black. I plugged it to power and turned it back on after 10 minutes it shut down again. After this it was difficult to turn back on. I would hear half the chime just when you press the power button then it would shut down. After several attempts it would eventually start only to shut back down after 5-10 minutes. I installed a widget to monitor temperature and they were all around 40 degree Celsius. I had much difficulty getting it to start so I tried to start then holding down command, option, r, p and let it chime 4-5 times. After this I now get a kernel panic mis-match between kernel and cpu. I've tried to boot from dvd but the computer shuts down before it fully boots up ....sigh.... Would anyone have an idea of what the problem is or what I can do?? I tried to upgrade to 10.6.4 and then upgrade firmware but it would always shut down before the installation was complete.

    Thanks for the reply
Yes I also assume it is some hardware issue. The temperature readings where 35-45 degrees. I read somewhere on apple webpage that there was an issue with the heatsink on some 13" MacBook, but the heatsink temp readings was around 40 degrees. And even if the laptop has been off for the night and cooled down, it still won't start. I guess I have to see the guys at apple store.

  • App manager shuts down while downloading Indesign trial because I don't have administrator rights on my pc, though I do. What could I do here?

The question is in the title already My user account is the only one on this PC so it's 100% certain that I'm the administrator. Thank you for any kind of help and answers!

Hmm, but of course I'm the administrator because there's no other accounts on this pc? And I didn't have problems installing anything else before so it shouldn't be about that. But thanks for a quick reply anyway!

How do I sync my music onto an old iPod when my music is located on iTunes match? I have connected the iPod to my mac but it indicates no music to sink (as my music is stored in the cloud). I assume there is a simple way to resolve without downloading all music onto my mac as this would be ridiculous?
Any halp with this would be excellant.
    Thanks :P

    Hi,
Your old pod can only sync with music that is physically in your itunes library and on your hard drive. Therefore there is simple way to resolve is to download your music to your hard drive.

  • I have a new ipad which needs itunes 10.7 or later to download my music onto it... but my ipad is not compatible with this as it is too old... can i use itunes with this ipad and apple laptop?

I have a new ipad which needs itunes 10.7 or later to download my music onto it... but my apple laptop is not compatible with this as it is too old... can i use itunes with this ipad and apple laptop?

To use itunes 10.7 you need to have Snow Leopard operating system installed
    These are the system requirements
    System Requirements:
Mac computer with an Intel processor
    1GB of memory
    5GB of available disk space
    DVD drive for installation
Some features require a compatible internet service provider: fees may apply.
If you can run Snow Leopard you need to purchase it
