ITunes skipping recovered songs.

Why doesn't apple just have a STUPID support email???? It took me like half an hour to get here, UGH. Anyways.....
I recently moved a large portion of my music files to a new folder/location on my computer. When I opened iTunes, it asked if I wanted it to locate the "missing" files, which was about 300 songs. It found them and everything seemed fine until I noticed over a quarter of the songs now skip either 5 seconds to a whole minute. It just stops playing it halfway through and goes to the next song. This doesn't appear happen when the songs are played on my iPhone, just on my PC.
EDIT: it should also be said that these files are definitely not corrupted; they play fine on any other music player.
I've read before that iTunes is a stupid piece of junk when it comes to importing a "large" amount of song files at once, but has there EVER been a fix to this irritating issue?? Other than importing each song one by one? Because that's around 100 songs I'll have to re-import and I'd like to AVOID that. I'm already so frustrated right now, and the fact that I've had to dig around to find a support line only to have to drop my question into a cesspool of other, equally unanswered issues doesn't help.
Also when I searched for similar problems like this, the results dated back to 2006, so. Y'know. Those didn't help. At all. Considering the system those were referring to were anything from Windows XP to Vista which is a LITTLE bit dated.

Hello Sara,
I would be concerned too if my iTunes was not playing the songs clearly.  I recommend reviewing the steps in this article to resolve an issue like this:

I tried that with one song and it charged me for it.  I've got hundreds of songs my new iMac won't play! Help!
If you purchased the song from the iTunes Store go to your purchase history and re-download it from there. You will not be charged again.

  • IOS 7.0.2 on iPhone 4S iTunes skips my songs.

I updated to 7.0.2 today and when I play a number of songs on iTunes on my iPhone 4S, they're all skipped.  Sometimes entire playlists skip.  When I go to my songs, and just start playing all of them, it skips the first 63 before it starts playing one.  I checked iTunes on my MacBook Pro and all the songs play fine so it's not the files.  I've re-synched my entire music library and the songs are still skipping.  Anyone have any suggestions?

I was able to resolve my own issue by completely wiping my iPhone and starting over with the iOS 7 installation.  However this time I told it to set my device up as a new phone.  Once I was done with the initial setup, I connected to my Macbook Pro and iTunes, I then elected to "restore" my iPhone.  I restored from the last backup of iOS 7.0 that I had and this time, when it readded all my music, everything played as expected.  I hope this helps someone else.

  • My itunes skips every song

    Howdy All
    Desperate for help
I have Windows 7 64 Bit - fully patched.  I also have latest version of Itunes.
For the last 3-4 months, my itunes has not played music.  But sometimes it does (intermittent).
If I double click a song, it instantly skips to the next, then the next then the next and so on and so forth until it has gone over all 8000 songs in my collection.
When Itunes does work, it plays every song without issue.
I have tried everything to fix it.  I have uninstalled itunes and reinstalled at least a dozen times, I have done clean installs, removing all insatnces of the program.  As a BSc (COMSCI) and IS Major, I know enough to know that there is something wrong.
Does anybody have ANY idea what is going on with my Itunes
I am desperate for a fix
    Please help
    Cheers

Did you try looking for conflicts with MSConfig?
I assume your tracks play OK in another player such as Window Media Player?
On malware that was a good idea, did you also try the free scanner from Malwarebytes, that is very good.
Did you remove all the Apple/iTunes entries in the registry.
Did you you remove all the iTunes related programs listed in the iTunes uninstall instructions, including deleting any remaining folders.
In addition, there are there is a configuration file in a hidden folder:
    Program Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info
The configuration file can cause problems for all users although I haven't heard of it causing skipping. It might be worth deleting it, but deauthorise you PC first as it holds authorisation data. The configuration file will be recreated when iTunes starts.
    See http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2363
If absolutely everything apple related is removed and the problem persists after a reinstall, it does suggest a software conflict or a problem with Windows.
Problems with Segoe fonts have caused issues but related to display problems rather than skipping tracks.
If you ever find a solution, it would be great to hear what it was, this is very puzzling.

  • Itunes skip through songs when playing or importing CDs

I have been using itunes for a while without problems. I recently upgraded to v7.1. When I now try to play or import CDs, the program quickly skips through the songs, but does not actually play or import anything. If I try to play the CD through another program, it works just fine. Does anyone have any suggestions of what might be going wrong? Thanks!

I agree with Dave - reinstall or update your drivers. If you need some directions on that, start here

  • IPhone/iTunes skipping through songs quickly

The iTunes app on my iPhone 5 is having serious issues playing a specific artist. When I pull them up to play, select songs individually or shuffle, it skips through them very quickly (40 something songs in about 6 seconds) and doesn't play any of them. It happens to be only this one particular group I am trying to listen to.
Any one else have this problem or know how to resolve it? Everything is on iCloud and can't figure out how to try and replace the songs.

  • Ipod and itunes skip over songs

I just bought the new Metric album and my itunes as well as my Ipod classic are skipping over 2 songs. Do I need to redownload these two songs or this a problem with the software? Help would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

Yes. I would start by redownloading these tracks if they cannot be played either in iTunes or on your iPod.

  • Why is iTunes skipping through songs during computer playback?

Over the past couple months, after adding new files to iTunes, when I'm listening to them on my computer, it will sometimes arbitrarily skip the next song. Each song skips at a different place, but it's always the same places every time I replay the tracks. When I listen to them in Windows Media Player, they play all the way through. I know it's not an issue of file corruption. What can I do about this?

    Hi LD,
Take a look at the article below and try playing the tracks in Safe Mode. If you no longer hear the playback issue, you may be able to resolve the issue by removing outdated 3rd-party plug-ins as suggested below.
iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3430
There are several ways an add-on can cause iTunes to act erratically, such as those listed below:
Loss of iTunes functionality, such as the Visualizer
Distortion or irregularity in the iTunes interface
    Slow performance
iTunes won't open or quits unexpectedly
You see this alert while syncing: "... cannot be synced. A duplicate file name was specified."
If you see the above symptoms or other unusual behavior, you can disable any third-party plug-ins by opening iTunes in Safe Mode:
    OS X: Hold down Option-Command.
Windows: Hold down Shift-Control while opening iTunes.
You should see this message before iTunes starts up: "iTunes is running in Safe Mode. Visual plug-ins you have installed have been temporarily disabled."Note: This is different than Safe Boot or Safe Mode for Mac OS X. You may need to test both at the same time to isolate all third-party interference.Click Continue and see if any issues persist. If your issues are resolved with iTunes running in Safe Mode, check the following:
Consult the vendor of any plug-ins you installed to see if they're compatible with your version of iTunes and check for any updates that may be available.
Close iTunes and move third-party add-ons to the Desktop to troubleshoot the behavior. iTunes stores these plug-ins and scripts in these locations:
    Mac: /Users/username/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins/
    /Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins/

  • ITunes skipping through songs

I have had my ipad 2 for quiet sometime and never had any faults with it.  Recently I decided to buy an imac, when syncing the 2 together it forced my ipad 2 to crash.  I successfully repaired it and have continued to use as normal. However the music app, linked to iTunes is no longer working correctly.  Every time I click on the button, my music library opens but when I press play along the top it scrolls through all the songs at lightening speed and will not play them.  I have shuffling them, choosing an artist etc but still no music. Can anyone help as I am getting so frustrated. Thanks in advance

  • When I try to play one of my itunes songs in iphone 5 "music," about a fourth of the time it will skip to the next song or skip 2 songs and go to the third.

When I go to play one of my itunes songs in my iphone 5 "Music," about a fourth of the time it will skip that song and go to the next, or skip 2 songs and play the third. Is the new phone defective or is there a setting I need to change?  Thanks...

iTunes Match is not working correctly.   When I go to play one song(example...Kelly Clarkson's Since U Been Gone does not play, but Miss Independent does. )
This is a known issue and at this time there is no fix. The workaround is to disable iTM on the iOS device and sync the mismatched songs via USB/Thunderbolt then re-enable iTM. This way you will be assured of having the "correct" version of the track on your device.
    RaschkeKM wrote:

I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean. Do you mean you have music stored on your iPod Classic that is not also in your iTunes library? If that is the case, then of course those songs won't be matched or uploaded. A song must be in your iTunes library for it to be processed by the iTunes Match service.
Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device

  • Why does iTunes Match download songs that I skip?

I haven't seen this question posted yet, but feel free to direct me to any pertinent posts.
I've been using iTunes Match for the last couple days, and all in all I really enjoy the service. There is one issue that I've yet to see addressed on these boards yet though; why is iTunes Match downloading songs that I skip? I listen to all my music in random, so occasionally there will be a song I just don't want to hear at the moment. I assumed that if I don't listen to a song completely that it would not be downloaded to my device. Not true apparently. I was able to use about half a gig of data in a few hours just by skipping songs. Every song that was skipped, even if I didn't hear a single second of it, was downloaded (at an average size of 5-8 MB). I sincerely hope this is just a bug and not a 'feature'.
Any insight on this would be appreciated.

I have noticed this too. I filled up my phone VERY fast yesterday.
and deleting is not easy, lots of left swipe DELETE action, took a while.

  • How can I get an album to play in order on Itunes?  The songs keep skipping all around to other albums that I did not want to listen to at that time?

It sounds like you might have the shuffle button at the bottom left of the iTunes (the button with the squiggly lines).
If that's not the case, then maybe you just need to sort your library by album by clicking the album tab at the top.
Is your music in a playlist, or are you trying to play it from the entire library?

  • My iPod skips certain songs- ive tried the 5 r's and i have iTunes 8

I woke up this morning and started listing to my iPod and found that it skips certain songs. about 150 (more or less) of the 500 that i have downloaded. I just dont know what's wrong with it. The songs play fine on my iTunes but as soon as I try to listen to it on my nano it skips to the next song and acts like the song doesnt excist.
I have tried the five r's, I have the most updated model of iTunes (unless im mistaken and there is an iTunes 9).
I reset all of the settings both on my ipod and on the computer- which did nothing.
I read the manuals and looked at the error reports but there is nothing that explains this at all. that I've found...
whats weird is that the songs that are being skipped were all purchased from the iTunes store. I've read a few posts about simialar occurances but nothing exactly like this. I've had my iPod for three years (if that helps)

  • Ipod classic skips with songs downloaded from itunes and mp3's.

I have an ipod 120gb classic, I listen to it in my van through my alpine car stereo, i found that it would start to play songs and then skip to the next song in the playlist, i thought it may have been the cable for the stereo that was the problem, 2 month ago i changed the stereo and the cables and with the brand new stereo the ipod is still skipping through songs which leads me to believe that its an ipod issue and not my alpine, is there anyway to correct this, as it is very annoying, i bought the ipod to avoid having cds and damagings them now the ipod is doing what cds do, skipping tracks, and then ive noticed for such an expensive investment, apple has not been able to resolve the problem.

I need to know more specifics about your problem.
Are your songs ending earlier than expected and the play count incrementing? If you push the back button to play the song again, does it end at the same premature time? Can you scrub (push the center select button once and then scroll) to a point 60 seconds after the songs cuts off and hear the remainder of the song play? If you listen to the same song on your computer and it plays fine all the way through and all of the above applies, then the problem is that iTunes is omitting a small amount of data in the midst of the data stream as it transfers files to the iPod.
Uncheck the song(s) ending too early; sync; check the song(s) ending early; sync. iTunes will then send a new copy of each song to the iPod. If any song on the iPod isn't repaired after this (and the point where the song cuts off may change), then repeating the process for any song which didn't get repaired should work.
