ITunes skips after recent format/partitioning

Hi,
I'm having a slight issue with itunes skipping at the moment, I recently formated my 90gb 5400rpm Hard drive (which I think may be the issue) into four partitions:
50gb - Vista (NTFS)
30gb - Shared Files (NTFS)
10gb - Ubuntu (xfs3)
My iTunes libary (8gb) is stored on the 30gb shared partiton, where it was previously stored on the one partition I had before, (No linux).
Does having your music on a seperate partition affect the read speed?
I'm using the latest version of iTunes and MS Vista is fully up-to-date.

Oh well, it was a possibility.
If you want to roll back to 11.4 uninstall all iTunes/Apple components, restore the pre-upgrade version of your library as described inEmpty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash, then download and install from one of these direct links:
iTunes 11.4.0.18 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-09-09)
iTunes 11.4.0.18 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-09-09)

  • ITunes skips after each song.

Does anyone know why iTunes will start skipping after each song during the crossfade process? It's like iTunes hangs up and skips during that time and causes my computer to hang for a sec during that time.

I only recently started using crossfade to try and eliminate the gaps between songs which are continuous across tracks. Recently "gapless albums" stopped working for me and I'm trying to resolve that issue!
BTW, I did notice that if you have "Gapless album" checked, the crossfade will not activate for those songs. But when I unchecked "gapless album", I still got a "skip" during the crossfade.

  • ITunes skipping after first few seconds.

So I've imported a cd using Itunes 9.
It's created a folder with a load of m4a files.
Whilst playing in Itunes, after about 15 seconds, the track skips to the next track.
I've tried deleting and re-importing - the same problem.
REALLY annoying. The m4a files work fine in other media players.
    Any ideas?

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the broken tracks from your iTunes library, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
If you don't see them straight away it may help to restart iTunes. While downloading selectDownloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloadsisunticked.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

  • Itunes crashing after recent update

I installed iTunes 10.6 a few days ago.  Ever since then, iTunes will run until I try to sync any of my devices.  I have tried sync'ing iPad, different generations/typs of iPod and iPhone.  They all cause the app to quit "unexpectedly".   I can play music from iTunes on my computer - it just fails when connecting to a device via the USB port or wi-fi.  I reinstalled iTunes today.  Same behavior.  What else can I do?
    Thanks!

Do you have any better luck with that if you update to iTunes 10.6.1.7?
From the notes for the release:
iTunes 10.6.1 provides a number of improvements, including:
    • Fixes several issues that may cause iTunes to unexpectedly quit while playing videos, changing artwork size in Grid view and syncing photos to devices.
    • Addresses an issue where some iTunes interface elements are incorrectly described by VoiceOver and WindowEyes.
    • Fixes a problem where iTunes may become unresponsive while syncing iPod nano or iPod shuffle.
    • Resolves an ordering problem while browsing TV episodes in your iTunes library on Apple TV.

  • ITunes unstable after recent update

Since the last itunes update, the new red one, 12.0.1.26 my iPad Mini refuses to connect to my PC, I had issues in the past, but usually a reinstall fixed all the connectivity issues, but now it just constantly refuses to connect No matter what I try, and it's making me very annoyed with being unable to back up data or charge my ipad direct from my PC. Is anyone else having these issues?

iTunes 12.01.1 would not accept my current iTunes library on my PC and my iPhone into which I had loaded the complete 50 CD collection of Bach's Cantatas purchased new commercially from a highly reputable classical music retail outlet. Instead, iTunes 12. 0.1 demands that I sync to the incomplete, new library of iTunes 12.0.1, which ONLY contains digital music purchased directly from iTunes.  iTunes will also  not accept any of the numerous jazz and classical CDs that I purchased commercially that were in the prior iTunes library on both my PC and iPhone. I will never buy anything else on iTunes because it is quite obvious that Apple is trying to restrict the inclusion of music from commercially purchased CDs in the iTunes library. I purchased a one year subscription for $24.99 to Amazon Music which automatically collected all of the songs from my PC that were in the prior iTunes version of my library, and I can store 250,000 songs in the Amazon Music library and play the songs on my iPhone with the Amazon Music app without regard as to whether the songs were purchased on CDs, iTunes, or from Amazon. I have lost absolutely all faith in Apple's business ethics!

After recently installing itunes on my new PC running windows 8, the CD/DVD drives no longer works, gives a code 19 message. Seems itunes is impacting the registry of the DVD drive. What is best solution to keep running itunes normally in the future & get the CD/DVD drive working again? if I delete the upper / lower registry keys what other functions are impacted? I see others say itunes asks for a reinstall...then same problem all over again! THX

  • I recently purchased Windows 8 laptop and installed Office 2013. I then installed iTunes. After moving all my music to the new PC, I got iTunes to import it and sync it to my iPod (3rd gen).  However, I cannot get iTunes to sync my Outlook Contacts

I recently purchased a Windows 8 laptop and istalled Office 2013.  I then installed iTunes. After moving all my music to my new PC I got iTunes to import it, and then synced it to my iPod (3rd gen.) However, I cannot get iTunes to sync my Outlook Calendar or Contacts with my iPod.  When I try it crashes Outlook.  iTunes continues to try to sync, but when it finishes my Calendar and Contents are empty (ERASED!).  I have de-installed and re-installed iTunes (according to Apple's instructions), repaired Office 2013 and Outlook, scanned for viruses (etc), cleaned out temp folders, defragmented, etc., etc., etc. Has anyone seen this before, and does anyone know houw to fix it?  (HELP!)

Well, I guess I have to download some other software to make my apple product work. Really great stuff you guys sell. I will never buy another apple product. My Iphone, Ipod and Itunes are junk

  • I'm installing windows 7 64-bit on my imac which I've done before but I get a message that the partition is GPT even after I format the bootcamp partition.  I just upgraded my hard drive to a 3tb and I'm allocating 1tb for windows. How can I fix this?

I'm installing windows 7 64-bit on my imac which I've done before but I get a message that the partition is GPT even after I format the bootcamp partition.  I just upgraded my hard drive to a 3tb and I'm allocating 1tb for windows. How can I fix this?

No easy fix for a few reasons:
    1) Bootcamp requires a hybrid MBR for the partition table. That is: both an MBR and a GPT partition table at the same time with the GPT one having all partitions and the MBR one having only the ones that are relevant, but at most 4 of them (including the protective partition and the Macintosh HD one). Which leads us to:
    2) The MBR part of the hybrid partition table cannot work with 3TB hard drives. MBR is limited to 2TB.
I am working on a small EFI app that can boot Windows in EFI mode on a Mac and that would mean that you can go GPT only on your system. The progress of the app is slow due to the nature of EFI and for now requires that you do an unattended Windows install with slipstreamed graphics drivers, but we are adding VGA loading on top of EFI quite soon after the rest of the app stabilises. The status of the app is documented at:
Win7 x64 booting natively via EFI (no bios emulation)
Windows does actually successfully boot in EFI mode on most Macs (anything with a 64bit EFI should work), but does not have graphics support even if you load the driver due to the VGA pci registers not being set by the firmware. Furthermore, in Setup and Safe Mode, Windows uses VGA instead of GOP which is a failure by design since VGA is a BIOS standard and not really compatible without hacks with EFI. Other EFI implementations also add VGA compatibility at a high cost to the firmware complexity for the VGA cards available on the market that don't actually contain anything in their ROM except the VGA BIOS.
    My recomendations:
    1) Install on a second smaller hard-drive; or
    2) Wait for the EFI app to come out officially and use that to boot Windows Vista SP1 x64 and Windows 7 x64 (RTM and SP1) in the native EFI mode.
    3) Wait for Windows 8 which supports VGA-less booting acording to the AMD presentation at UEFI Plugfest.

You must use the Windows formatter to format your Windows partition NTFS. Please be sure you select the Windows partition otherwise you might end up formatting your OS X partition NTFS.

  • I recently backed up my iphone to itunes, when after backing up a message showed that I needed to update my iphone. I clicked ok, and after updating, it said I had to restore my phone to its factory settings. I cannot find where it backed up pictures

I recently backed up my iphone to itunes, when after backing up a message showed that I needed to update my iphone. I clicked ok, and after updating, it said I had to restore my phone to its factory settings. I cannot find where it backed up all of my pictures from my phone.

If you backed up the device, all the data is in the backup. Restore the backup.
A better question is why would an intelligent person not copy the pictures from the device to the computer regularly, especially before attempting an update, as the device is designed to be used?

  • Itunes files after a re-format??

I have an issue. Because I am a big computer guy and gamer, I ususally end up formating my computer around once a year (or sometimes even more than that) for one reason or another. Up until now this hasn't been a problem. But now on ITunes it said last time that I've used 4 out of my 5 computers. Sure I have one left, but is there any way for me to undo that?
This is the same computer with the exception of a new part every now and then, I just backed up the files and restored them after my format and re-install. I have a lot of music by now and I can't re-buy it all every time I need to re-install my operating system. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but someone please help me out.
None, I built the computer myself Windows XP Pro

Just sign into itMS and deauthroize your PC until it shows zero authorizations.
Then authorize it once, and you should be back in business.

  • ITunes Extras Blinking after recent update

Anyone else experiencing issues with iTunes Extras after the recent update? I have the most recent version of the Apple TV, and all iTunes Extras screens blink in and out repeatedly. I thought it may just be the most recent purchase, but it is everything, even ones I know were fine last week.
Is it just me, or everyone? Tried every several movies, and the same result. Tried restarting, same thing. Tried logging out of iTunes, and back in and same results.

  • Itunes store's songs skipping after a few seconds of playing

I just downloaded a bunch of songs from itunes store and it's skip after a few seconds of playing, some help please?

You will not get recharged if you download them from the Purchased section of the iTunes Store and you are signed in with the Apple ID they were originally purchased with.

Songs skipping after downloading on iTunes

    Hello, cajunkiwi.
Thank you for the question.  There are a couple options to help you with this.  If limited purchased media skips only on the iPhone, then delete the affected content and download it again free of charge via the purchased section of the iTunes Store.  If almost all of your media library skips on the iPhone only, remove all music from the device by removing the preference to sync music.  After this has been completed, restore the sync music preference to place the media back on the the device.  Below are a couple articles that will walk you through this process.
