ITunes songs cut off early

Heyas;
So I have been going through my iTunes collection - backing up and getting missing artwork, etc. and I have noticed that several songs end early/get cut-off. This happened to one song a while back that was a download from the iTunes store. I figured the file somehow got corrupted so re-bought the song from the iTunes store. Now that it has happened to several songs I am suspicious that there must be another issue than one corrupt file.
The files that cut off early are AAC format. There may be some older MP3 formatted songs that are effected as well but I have not found any as of yet. The recently effected files are ones I imported from my CD collection; but as mentioned above, I have had issues with iTunes store songs as well.
I also recently deleted all the songs from my Windows 7 PC and transferred all the files from my Mac Mini (where I keep the 'master' copies), using 'home sharing'.
Thanks for taking the time to read this post
Any suggestions?
I use a Mac Mini 10.4 and a Windows 7 PC. I keep both iTunes libraries synced up.

I have the same problem.  It's disappointing that there aren't more replies to this issue two years later.  I just delete the song from iTunes and then delete the song file in the iTunes Library.  Then I go back to the store and redownload it.  It asks if you would like to "purchase" the song again.  Say Yes.  You can download the song for free(You won't have to pay again). Then you have to listen to that song to see if it's complete. Sometimes I have to do this several times before I finally get the full song   WHY??? When there are several songs on one album that are incomplete this can be a very tedious process.  I bought an album today and a few of the songs are cut off like this.  So I'm off to try to get my money's worth...

  • Itunes songs cut off

Recently, some of the songs in my itunes library cut off at approximately 2:30 minutes into the song.  I thought it was a problem with my old ipod, but the same thing happens on a second ipod and on my iphone.  The problem does not happen on my PC.  Has anyone experienced and corrected this problem?

    Something similar here.
    Try this script: ResetStartEndTimes
iTunes only passes the start time, end time and duration to the script in whole seconds, so there is a potential for minor adjustments of less than a second to be ignored. If you find this to be a problem change the line that reads:
    Updateable=(.Start>0 Or .Finish<TimeToSecs(.Time))
    to
    Updateable=True
Which would force every track to be have the start and end times reset, whether they need it or not.
Test the script on a few sample tracks first to see that it does what you want. If so let it process all of your music.

  • Why are some songs cut off early?

I just transferred my iTunes library from my old macbook (where it was working fine) to my new macbook pro. I notice many songs cut off before finishing, usually all the songs from a same album. I downloaded my past purchases from icloud and still happens. My ipod, which I now synced with my new macbook is (obviously) doing the same. Anyone have any bright ideas to resolve this? I guess Apple is too busy counting all the money from us suckers who have bought their hardware and/or paid for music downloads from iTunes to take care of this.

I am having the same problem.  I moved my files from an old Windows XP machine to a new Windows 7 machine.  I put them in the "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder thinking they would all be added to my library and work just fine.  Now I noticed that all songs for the same Artist get cut off at the same point in time.  For one artist, it was 2:25.  Any song shorter than that worked fine.  Any song longer got cut off.  For another artist, it was 2:17.  It seems to be more with songs I downloaded from iTunes.  Songs that came from CDs that I own and imported seem to be fine but I haven't checked every song.  Any help Apple?

  • Downloaded iTunes songs cutting off half way through.

Recently, many of the songs that I have downloaded from iTunes are cutting off midway through the song.  The song plays out for the original length of the song, but there is no audio.  Most of these songs were downloaded to a Macbook Pro.  I have an iPod and a iPad2.  I'm experiencing these problems on both devices.  What can I do to correct this?  All devices have been updated and synced.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • New iTunes Store Songs Cut Off Early

I just downloaded two new songs from the Store. Each cuts off and ends with about a minute left. Having paid for both songs, I expect them to play. Is this fixable?

  • Itunes songs cutting off

i have downloaded my previous purchases but they cut off at about 1.45 into the song this is really getting me fed up does anyone have a solution

Try to play the song in a different player. If it's working the same, then you probably have the song file corrupted, redownload the song from iTunes. If not then try reinstalling iTunes.
    Hope this solves your problem

  • Problem Solved: iTunes Songs Cutting Off

    Hello Everyone,
I just thought I'd share my knowledge with you all. Granted, my solution may not be your solution but I'm putting it out there for everybody to know.
I was on the phone with Apple iTunes Tech Support for 2 hours going through a really lengthy process of trying to figure out the solution when my host and I finally realized that the solution was a simple one (maybe not, if you have more than a dozen songs having this problem). The problem was that some of my iTunes songs, for no reason at all, were being cut off at the end (usually around a minute or so left in them) and then my iTunes would start playing the next song (unless I had it on the "loop one" setting and then it would loop back to the beginning of that song). The problem, it seems, stemmed from a corrupted song link to the actual file.
    The solution:
    1) Open a Finder Window
    2) Click on the Music tab
    3) Click on the iTunes folder
    4) Go into your iTunes Media (or iTunes Music) folder
    5) Click on the Music Folder within
    6) Click on whichever Artist the song comes from and then its Album
    7) Check to make sure you have the song in there
    8) Open iTunes
    9) Delete the problem song from your iTunes application (but make sure to click the option that says Keep File)
    10) Click on the same song in your Music Folder and open it in iTunes
The link should now be fixed and your song should play without complications. You'll have to do this with every song that has this problem but at least it will work. By the way, reinstalling your iTunes doesn't fix the problem because it's the link that's corrupted, not the application nor the song, so you'll have to do it this way.
    Hope this helps!

Does the track play correctly in Quicktime Player?  If it does then it is an iTunes issue.  If it doesn't then it is possible the file was not completely downloaded, or is corrupt.  If you believe it is corrupt:
If you are in a country where re-downloading is possible (check this with iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match Availability by Country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085), delete the track (and the original file) and download again (Downloading [using iOS or computer] past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).  See tips on downloading in https://discussions.apple.com/message/19097773, especially unchecking the "Allow Simultaneous Downloads" box in the downloads tab of iTunes.
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.

  • 2 Itunes songs cut off half-way

I just downloaded a cd from itunes, except 2 songs are cut off half way.  How can i redownload them????

Usually this happens because the download is interrupted, and you have iTunes 10.5. Update to 10.6, delete the songs from your library, and redownload them from the cloud (if you have a Purchased pane from the main iTunes Store screen). If you don't, get up with iTunes Store and they might be able to allow you the items again to your download queue so you can replace the unfinished copies. And if all else fails, maybe they could refund them if you can't get this to work this way.

  • Why do so many of my songs cut off early?

Before updating my iTunes, the songs had no trouble playing in full.

Perhaps I should have added that I use gmail as my mail provider as I see there are some problems with gmail elsewhere. I also have my iPad and iPhone 6 synched using iCloud. The synching seems to work mostly, though again occasionally a deleted message will reappear on one or both devices.

  • TS1967 I downloaded an album and many of the songs cut off early and go the next song on the list

    Any suggestions?

Are you in a country, where you can download past purchases again?
Then delete the three bad songs from your iTunes Library and download them again from the store:
See: Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
With iTunes '11Go to the iTunes Store
Make sure that you have "Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases" enabled in your iTunes preferences by going to iTunes > Preferences under the Store tab. Then, click OK.
If you're not already signed in, choose Store > Sign In, and enter your Apple ID and password.
After you've signed in, click the Library button located in the upper-right of the iTunes Store.
Navigate to your iTunes library for the respective content type you wish to download using the content selector in the upper-left. Choose Music to download songs, Movies to download movies, and so on.

  • Purchased itunes song cuts off at 27 seconds - anybody know how to fix?

I bought Maroon 5's "Makes Me Wonder" last night as part of the 69 cents sale and it only plays for 27 seconds.  Anybody have a similar problem?  Do you know how to fix it?  Afraid of what might happen if I try to restore it?  Any help would be greatly appreciated

  • ITunes 7 Cutting Off Songs

I'm sorry if there is a similar topic already existing, but it seems that all of the songs in my library (at least the ones that I've tested) are being cut off well before they are finished since I installed the new iTunes 7 (and the new Quicktime). Most songs seem to cut out at the 4 minute mark, a major problem with my songs that are 10 minutes or more. Even songs that are around 4 minutes cut off early; "Billie Jean" cut out at 3:10 even though the song is supposed to go 4:54.
Some of the other threads have suggested recoding the songs, but when I attempt to do that, it only codes the shortened version. So, when I try to convert my 25 minute song, the converted version only includes that 4 minute segment.
Has anyone had similar problems and been able to come up with solutions?
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

None of those settings have been changed.  The crossfade is not checked.  Moreover, the amount cut off on different songs varies (whereas I understand that crossfade would affect all song in the same way).
I am not sure what you mean by song - options.  I did not change anything.

  • HT1725 I recently purchased and downloaded a song from iTunes.  The download was completed but the song cuts off half way through.   How can I download the entire song again?

I recently purchased and downloaded a song from iTunes.  The download was completed but the song cuts off half way through.   How can I download the entire song again?

All you need to do is go to the iTunes store, and then go to purchased in the right side of iTunes store.  It is under the quick links.  Then you will be able to download the past purchases there.

  • Why does my itunes downloaded song cut off half way through the song

I downloaded a Jorney song "Seperate Ways" only to find out that the song cuts off half way through. What should i do?

I'm having this exact problem now with an iPhone 4 (not the 4S) and running software 6.1.3 with iTunes version 11.0.4.4. - The songs play fine in iTunes. In some instances I brought in the songs from CDs, in other instances I purchased from the iTunes store meaning I can't simply convert them. In either way they play silence on my iPhone around halfway through and for the remainder of the track.
I have attempted a full restore from a backup, and then reloaded all of my music, same songs, same problem. I don't feel a manual restore would help because that means reprogramming every single app, and the music would be reloaded the same way so what difference could that make?
Just to add insult to injury my protection plan ran out about 2 weeks ago and my phone otherwise works fine, so this can't possibly be worth purchasing another pricey plan just to be allowed to TALK to Apple.

  • Songs cut off during play

I have 2nd gen iPod touch. When I play it through a USB cord it cuts some of my purchased songs short. My husband has 3rd gen and he has no trouble when he plugs his in with the same cord into the same device. The songs I have trouble with play fine. What could be the problem? I'm using both iPods in Microsoft Sync in my Ford

Apparently this problem hasn't been fixed in 8.2 (so I won't be upgrading). I'm very familiar with this problem, even though my iPod Classic is only four months old. I've finally gotten all of my songs to work (it took two months to cycle through my entire collection to determine which ones were broken).
This post contains the solution for songs cutting off on the iPod: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9333313#9333313. Also read [this thread|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9477739#9477739]. Now, if the songs are ending early in iTunes playing from your hard drive, then the original file got corrupted by iTunes and the only fix is to re-import or use a backup copy.
At this point, I don't want iTunes to touch my music files for a large transfer. I keep my music on an external drive; if I were to have to move them from that drive to another drive for some reason, I'd rather bite the bullet of losing my date-added data and use the Finder to move the files and then re-import my Library file than follow the iTunes instructions.
