ITunes sound improvement

I like iTunes for its great sortng features but I don't like how it sounds. I believe that Aimp player sounds the best of any player I've used. Who I can address that could help me to make iTunes sound as perfect as Aimp player ?

yes. I have compared them. I don't know which sound engine Aimp uses but it is really great. I wish itunes sound that sweet.
Thanks for the link. I've sent my feedback. Hope it will work.

  • Equalizer, and Sound improvement

Isnt there a way i cant adjust the equalizer manually in my ipod, seems like there only are preloaded settings and none i can adjust ?
Under Ipod in Itunes there are a checkbox with "Sound Improvements" above "Sound Control", how does it work ?

No, the iPod doesn't support custom EQ settings.
The preset EQ settings are all that you can use.

  • Itunes sound and Media player sound

Perhaps this topic has been posted dozens of times but still I got a question.
I believe that media player has a very neat and nice sound while iTunes are more loud and not so deep. even if I make equilizer default. So the question.
Is it possible to male itunes sound to be so nice as Media Player?

I am not sure if there is an answer to your problem, but in the past I felt that both WMP and RealPlayer had slightly better sound than iTunes.
I did find that updating my audio drivers noticably improved the iTunes sound, so that is all I can suggest.

  • How best to *BATCH* process MP3s for sound improvement using X-Fi extreme Music.

I have a shiny new X-Fi extreme music.
Does anyone have ideas on the best way to *batch* process a large selection of (16 bit 44.1) MP3 files?
A lot is made, in the X-Fi advertising, on the varied abilities to improve the sound of MP3 files. I have a large selection of play-a-long MP3s generated from old sources, and additionally converted to single channel mono. (i.e. I have extracted the LEFT channel and created a mono MP3 from that).
I would like to improve the sound of these file. I use them for play-a-long, so tonal closeness to the original is *not* important. I just want to be sure I can hear the basist (and drummer) OK - i.e. I want to emphasize their sound and disregard the frequencies in the human-voice range.
Sometime, I play these files using the PC equipped with the X-Fi extreme, but sometimes on my MP3 player.
Does creative supply SW to achieve this batch processing, or does anybody know of third party SW that can help. Their seems to be a lot of sound improvement SW out there, but it is targeted towards dealing with LP vinyl problems, and usually doesn't do batch very well.
    Thanks for your consideration,
    Matt

  • ITunes sounds funny with a twist

I am currently using iTunes 6, but the problem showed up when I upgraded to iTunes 5.
Videos played through iTunes sound funny (garbly, underwater). This applies to all music videos, trailers, pixar movies etc. in the music store.
However all songs in my library and 30 sec. song samples sound fine.
I downloaded a pixar movie & it sounded funny also. I then tried playing it with quicktime and it sounded fine.

    hi gpman!
hmmmmm. apologies that this is taking a while. still trying to get to grips with the video sound issues. (i may be behind on the state of the art with this too ... i haven't been able to get out to the other forums to check on developments there.)

  • ITunes sound completely stopped

The sound on my iTunes stopped in the middle of playing music.  It hasn't worked since.  I've checked all the sound controls. I've rebooted my computer.  I've watched an NBA game on broadband - sound worked for that.  Youtube sound works, other videos, too.  Just not iTunes sound.  Not from my music collection, or from sampling songs at the iTunes store.

iTunes has its own volume control, an unlabeled slider in the toolbar of the window. Move it all the way to the right.
If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes, deselect it.

  • ITunes Sound

My iTunes sound isn't working. It says it's playing the songs, but no sound is coming out. The weird thing is my speakers work otherwise, like when I'm watching a movie. It's only iTunes that's messed up. It stopped working when I tried to download a program that would transfer my music from my iPod to iTunes (which didn't work). But after I tried that is when it stopped playing my music. PLEASE HELP!!!

So i used to be able to play itunes music will
playing Counter Strike just fine...but now with the
new version it like speeds up the music and makes it
sound fussy...even when i open websites like myspace
or facebook...it acts up for a bit...anyone else have
this problem...or know what might be the problem? I
have a fast computer so I don't understand what is
    goin' on?
I am having the same problem as well with any game i play eg:WOW, CS, Quake4, etc...

  • Itunes sound awful

I deleted and restarted my computer and downloaded the newest itunes you have. The fact remains... itunes sounds awful.
I currently use windowsxp player 10. I want to use itunes Everyone else in house uses itunes. When I use the Windows 10 player it sounds fine. I cannot play anything on itunes that sounds half way decent. It sounds tinny, rocky, gravelly more one sided than the other. I have had my sister look at the preferences and they are set exactly as hers are set. No my settings aren't maxed out either.
I can take the same mp3 and play it on itunes and it's bad and play it on window player 10 and its fine. I have just gotton 3 itune music cards and want to download some songs and use itunes. Can someone help and explain it to me how to fix it?

we had better check on the usual suspects with that from the following document. (if you've now got an itunes 6.0.5.20, you'll need to check the QT 7 sound out settings rather than the QT 6 settings. restart itunes and/or QT after applying any settings changes.)

  • Balancing volume/gain across clips - anything like iTunes Sound Check

I am now in charge of a pretty large pile of pre-cut FCP clips captured in less than ideal circumstances, but with reasonably clear narrated voice overs. There are hundreds of short similar clips, but the volume varies tremendously, and I am trying to assemble them into longer sequences.
So - since they are all speech at a similar volume, is there any batch operation I can run on my clips to raise or lower the gain on each one to the same final level? I am looking for something similar to iTunes' sound check.

You could TRY (try) the normalize feature by sending it to Soundtrack after you edit.
    Might work ok for you.

  • How to improve iTunes sound quaility through analog home stereo?

The core of my home stereo system is an old NAD 7140 stereo receiver and I really like the sound. I have set up a dedicated laptop (a bottom-end Lenovo Ideapad) that I just keep next to the stereo and use it as a storage device/glorified mp3 player. I keep all my "second tier" music there -- the music where I can live without a physical CD jewel case. I use a simple RCA/headphone y-cable to run from the Aux input in the back of the receiver to the headphone jack on the laptop.
The trouble is, the sound just isn't very good. It often sounds muddy and boomy with certain genres  -- old school rock n roll particularly. Hooking up my wife's MacBook Pro and using that as a player is an improvement, but it is still not 100%. My guess is that the soundcard on the Lenovo is just poor quality, while the soundcard on the MacBook is better, but that neither was really designed to interface that well with an analog stereo receiver.
So, I'm trying to figure out a way I can keep the NAD 7140 but get better sound out of my mp3 collection. And I don't want to spend an arm and a leg. I have heard that USB-based Digital Audio Converters may be the ticket -- something like the HRT Music Streamer II or the NuForce ICON. Is that a solution you folks  could recommend? Or is there another path I should take? BTW, I'm not a fanatic when it comes to sound quality. AAC is fine by me -- no need for FLAC or other lossless formats. I just want the sound routed through my laptop to come closer to the sound routed through the CD player. IF DACs only offer infinitesimal improvements, then I think I'll pass
I'd appreciate any insight you could give

No one listens to iTunes through an analog stereo????

  • ITunes sound cutting out

When I try to play songs in iTunes, the sound will cutout sporadically, then when it starts up again the sound is garbled, and sounds like a cd skipping.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any fixes?

It would be hard to say, but I don't think so. AirFoil still uses AirTunes to stream audio to the AirPort Express. One potential shortcoming of the AX's electronics is that it doesn't employ a local clock circuit. When the incoming data is interrupted (changing songs, long pauses, bandwidth limitations, etc.), there is no longer a digital output to feed the AX's internal DAC, which manifests itself as an audio drop-out.
Some options to try to improve performance are: 1) If not already, use digital audio instead of analog, 2) Use Ethernet as much as possible between the audio source and the AX, and 3) Where Ethernet is not an option, use 802.11n wireless networking and/or eliminate any Wi-Fi interference.

  • Is iTunes "Sound Check" better than five years ago?

I got into iTunes (briefly) about five years ago.  I got all excited about mixed playlists and what-all ... but I burned out quickly because the Sound Check feature that would regulate the volumes from different CDs was mostly worthless.  Most songs averaged out, but that one track in ten would still sneak in there, too loud or too soft, and ruin the listening vibe in the house.
I ditched iTunes and went back to my CD player.
Now I'd like to get back into iTunes again and I'm wondering if Sound Check ever had any significant improvements in the last five years?  Did Apple finally perfect it?
Do we finally have mix playlists that play consistently, like one properly re-mastered compilation CD?  Or are occasional tracks still showing up too loud or too soft?

Thanks for the replies, Wolf and Sanjampet.
Yep, both of you are spot on correct about some of the dynamics that affect Sound Check.  The only thing I know is that, five years ago, I didn't like it.  I also remember not really being able to make manual adjustments work for me because I have music playing constantly and jumping up and running over to the Mac while an offending song is on my mind got mighty inconvenient.  That's why I stuck with my CD player. ...
I think you answered my question for me.  No, Sound Check is no different than it was five years ago.
Not quite what I said.  I certainly expect it has improved over 5 years, I can only tell you it will never be perfect.  And that is relevant because of your expectations.
The fact is, CD players do not have SoundCheck at all.  But when your CD mismatches song volumes, that does not "offend your ears".  And yet, oddly, iTunes does.  Listening sequentially to a CD you already know, you are accustomed to those particular mismatches, so they "sound right" to you.  What I'm speaking of here is cognitive bias, which is human and normal, and the thing to do is simply be aware it's there.
I too have tried playlists and was not impressed.  I remember when the level adjustment (in Song Properties) came out and thought "about time".  And I've never spent the time to actually try playlists again.  But I did not abandon iTunes entirely simply because one of its features "is not for me", i.e. sucked.  Digital playback is still the Best Jukebox Ever, with instant and searchable access to my music.  CDs are in every way inferior.*
It sounds like you jumped into digital playback with both feet, found some of its features were not ready for prime time, and jumped back out.  I would suggest easing back in with one foot, remembering that setup is a one-time task and it's pure profit from there.
    * purposefully ignoring the question of musical fidelity, some believe compression is bad, others believe digital is bad.  Not this thread.
