Itunes South Africa so behind the rest of world!!!!

Why do we not have angry birds here in SA Store, the only way for us to get anything decent is to JB my Ipad. Come on who is sleeping at Apple why do you guys not update our content so frustrating.

I wonder if this is an evolving problem, because I am suffering something very similar. I bought a whole album (Bad Manners, Can Can Live) that has 25 tracks in total. I did this on my iPhone. The first 10 tracks downloaded just fine but then iTunes stopped downloading. I then tried syncing the iPhone with iTunes on my PC to see if the PC iTunes would pick up the remaining tracks. But, even though PC iTunes knows that I have purchased the whole album, Check For Purchases also shows that iTunes thinks I have already downloaded the whole album -- even though I have only got the first 10 of 25 tracks.
If I try to repurchase the album, iTunes displays the following message:
"You have already purchased part of the Album Can Can (Live).
You have already purchases part of the Album "Can Can (Live)" but it has not been downloaded yet. Click OK to begin downloading."
...but when I click OK, it simply doesn't download. Again, if I go back to Check For Purchases, it thinks everything has downloaded successfully. Similarly, if I try to complete the download on the iPhone, I get a very similar message, but the download will not complete.
Curiousls, this error message turns up literally no hits in Google (and I've quadruple-checked the spelling/wording), which suggests it's at best a rare problem, or perhaps an emerging one.
Anyone else with similar problems recently?

  • ITunes Store: South Africa: Why is the store so limited?

Why is the store so limited with available Apps? Facebook Apps like Zynga games is unavailable. Angry birds is available from Blackberry for crying out loud but not iTunes South Africa.

This has been covered in many other threads. As reported by another SA user, Apple and the SA government are negotiating over how to apply Apple's iTunes Store age ratings to the SA regulations so as to allow more apps to be sold in the SA iTunes Store. Where those negoiations stand I don't know.
    Regards.

When is iTunes going to be fully open in South Africa???
Come on Apple, I have been asking for the last 6years already, the iTunes SA store is terrible.  I want to rent movies, episodes, music, etc.  Its so frustrating having state of the art tech that isnt fully supported or operational in SA.
Please dont give me the "legal response" again, surely by now you have negotiated with the SA publication board on opening the iTunes store completely.  Yes, local businesses will probably close overnight like the CD stores, etc, but the majority in SA have spoken.  We are tired of not having all the features you offer your US, EK and EU consumers.
Please open up iTunes properly in South Africa, please, please, it only adds to your increased market shareprice if you do.  And please please, please, have support for Passbook in South Africa.  Businesses in South Africa need to get out of the "brick and mortar" mindset.  You defintely need a South African "Steve Jobs" at your Apple corporate offices here to engage the policy-makers (or policy-blockers) to implement a proper iTunes in SA.
    Thank you.

I have been asking for the last 6years already
And the answer remains the same as it has for the last six years.
Please dont give me the "legal response" again, surely by now you have negotiated with the SA publication board on opening the iTunes store completely.
Well, you're going to get it anyway. The SA publication board is not the only entity involved, if they even are. Whoever holds the rights to music, movies, etc. for SA have to be willing to allow Apple to sell them there. Apple also has to be able to set up a suitable infrastructure, sort out any legal and copyright issues, and many other factors. Apparently they have not been able to do so, as has been the case in many other countries, not just yours, including countries with populations and hence markets that far outstrip that of your country.
It does not good to complain here. If you want to complain to someone, complain to the record companies, movie distributors and book publishers in your country.

  • I have encountered a different iTunes 7.0 problem from the rest if these

ok, I have wrapped my brain around this one as much as I care to.
here is "MY" problem with the new upgrade.
To start, the background info I guess. I opend up my old (6.0 version) and tried to download one of my favorite TV shows (WILDBOYZ)...lol anywho, it said that a newer version of iTunes was needed. So, in response I attempted to download the new version. When I did, I got the usual windows installer junk with the "would you like to run this software etc" so I got through all that and during the middle of the download I was prompted with "A newer version of iTunes already exist on this computer, cannot continue with installation". So, confused at this point I went to the support section on the Apple website and saw some of the suggestions. So I then removed all old versions of iTunes and Quicktime from my computer via remove/change programs from my control panel etc. I then attempted to retry the download (I have disabled my "Norton Antivirus protection at this point) I was then prompted with another error message and this time it said
"Error 1316. A network error occured while attempting to read from the file C:\WINDOWS\Installer\iTunes.msi"
I don't know what to do with this and I have not seen any other realted problems within this discussion forum regarding problems with the new updates for the 7.0.
can anyone help me with this one, cause I sure would like to see Stev-O and Chris Pontius (WildBoyz) jump in the lake full of crocodiles or something...lol, not only that but I oyuld like to continue BUYING movies and shows for my iPod.

"Error 1316. A network error occured while attempting to read from the file C:\WINDOWS\Installer\iTunes.msi"
the 1316 was more common with QuickTime standalone installs than itunes installs, but there's a technique that you can try that has had some success with it.
are iTunes and QuickTime no longer showing in Add/Remove?
if so, also go in and manually remove any itunes and QuickTime leftover program files and program folders, as per the "Uninstall older versions of iTunes and QuickTime" section of this document:
Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime software in Windows
... next, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility, and use it to check for any leftover iTunes and QuickTime installation configuration information. (if you find any, remove it with CleanUp.)
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
reboot the PC and try another itunes install. does it go through without the error messages now?

  • I want to buy an ipad 2 with 3g in the US and wanted to find out if it will work in South Africa or is the 3g locked by the service provider

I want to buy an ipad2 3g in the USA and wanted to find out if the 3g will work with a South African sim card or is it locked to a US service provider.

Make sure you get the GSM (AT&T) model, not the Verizon model.
By the way, this forum is for the iPod touch, not the iPad.

  • When will music be available in the iTunes Store in South Africa?

I live in South Africa and I don't have a billing address in another country. I would really like to be able to buy music from the iTunes Store.
At the moment the only thing that I would like to buy in the iTunes Store is music. I can't, so it makes the store unusable for me.
I realise that there are a number of legal issues regarding this at the moment, but is there a plan to find a workaround for this in future? When will we be able to buy music from the iTunes Store in South Africa?
    Is the answer: Never?
(Is there a loophole/workaround already available that I am not aware of?)

There is no way to know when unless Apple announces.
You can buy your music from another source, Amazon for example.

  • Error in South Africa Regional Settings in Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8

Please note that the format for numbers in South Africa regional settings is incorrect. I discovered this through on of our products that would not work on Server 2012, but works from XP to Windows 7.
Where the decimal was always a point it has now been changed to a comma, which is incorrect and most likely will cause a lot of issues for customers in south africa that use decimal data.
I can already see spatial data breaking where decimals are used and stored with points and not commas.
To reproduce this error set your regional settings to South Africa and execute the following code in C#
    System.Convert.ToDouble("10.1234");
This will throw a FormatException. Change regional settings from a , to a . and there we go it works.

It seems that this is development related issue, please try to submit a new post in DEV forum. Thanks.
    Thanks
    Zero
Respectfully Mr. Xia, it looks like the OP is reporting a localization issue, not a development issue.
    For the OP, there's a
well researched post by a South African developer describing that the decimal comma is the correct choice.  The work cites University style guides, International conference agreements, and government legislation and regulation.
An excerpt from Mr. MacLean's post, quoting work from EEPublishers:
English-speaking countries (plus China, India and Japan) use the decimal point. There seems to be a general tendency to formally declare its use worldwide and the International Organisation for Standardization, ISO, also tends towards using the decimal point
over the decimal comma. In view
of the South African law, however, the comma shall still be employed in South Africa as “the only recognised decimal indicator for all numbers” [3].

  • HELP! "My Music" in external drive -- iTunes now can't find the music

I've used an external drive for my iTunes music for a few years. Not sure what just happened, but as of a couple days ago, iTunes can't find any of the music. Highlight a song and an exclamation point appears next to it.
I went into "preferences" and remapped the directory to the correct folder, but it's still making me go back and "reorient" all my music, album by album to the "G" drive location. Anyone know how to fix this in one fell swoop? Seems to me remapping the folder location should've done it, and iTunes would take care of the rest.
    many thanks --

1 - in the future never delete a file until you have fully tested the backup you made
2 - depress the option key and launch iPhoto - use the :select Library" option and you should see all available libraries
Report back exactly what happens and what you see if it does not solve your issue

  • Help! I need a flexi cable (Apple South Africa doens't want to sell me one)

    Hi All,
My machine (Powerbook G4 17" 1.67Ghz, las generation before switch to intel) is out of warranty, and the flexi cable connecting the top platter (containing the KB, trackpad and power button) to the main board is damaged (developed a small crack). I am told the only way to get a hold of a replacement cable is to order a whole new top platter from Apple. I talked to Apple Support South Africa (managed through the Core Group). Received incredibly poor service from them, Had to repeatedly call them for 3 days on end before even getting an answer out of them, calls are never returned, etc.
Is this true? Is there any way I can get this cable as a stand-alone part? Surely it must have its own part number? Please, I am desperate, it's patched together, but my machine is unreliable - loses power easily and abruptly.
thank you for any help or insight,
    Dawid

I managed a peek at a PowerBook service manual and there is no mention of a separate cable. Everything references an "top case assembly" with no separate listing for cables attached to it.
Here are some US-based Mac notebook repair and parts companies. Perhaps their tech support people can at least tell you if that cable is available separately:

  • Am I eligible for student discount South Africa?

    Hi,
    I'm enrolled at DigitalTutors.com
Its a month-to-month payment system. I may go on for 2 years. They sell year memberships as a whole but not 2 years afaik.
Anyways, the eligibility form states it is only for America and Canada.
I tried speaking to a local South African reseller, but they said all docs go to Adobe HQ in the States and thus far the lady I'm talking to is going by American and Canadian regulations.
What's the deal for South African educational discounts?
Furthermore, any idea when Creative Cloud is coming to South Africa? Renting the stuff seems cheaper.
BUT - I'd like to know whether my digitaltutors.com subscriptions would make me eligible for a most welcome student discount. I'm looking at the Production Premium package, for Photoshop, After Effects and Illustrator.
ALSO - I own original Photoshop CS3 with CS4 upgrade Mac. I'd like to take advantage of the existing CS customer offer for $29.00 / month for Creative Cloud but I can't yet because it isn't in South Africa yet aaargh,
    Many thanks,
    Mike

  • Shipping to south africa?

Ive created an album in Iphoto which Id like to purchase and ship to South Africa, going through the process the system doesnt recognise the RSA detail input, please advise if shipping to South Africa is possible or if there is some other alternative?

Apple print products are only shipped to the same country as the billing address of the credit card used to purchase the item.  Therefore you may have to have the book shipped to you and you'll have to ship it on to SA.

  • Terrible repair outcome at Menlyn IStore, Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa

    Good Day,
My fiancée and I are extremely disappointed and are trusting in you to please assist us in resolving this rather unfortunate situation. We sent in a set of earphones for repair at the Menlyn Shopping Mall IStore branch in South Africa, Gauteng, Pretoria, the repair has taken almost 12 months to resolve and finally with a terrible outcome...
1.The Menlyn IStore discarded/scrapped my property without my consent.
2.The Menlyn iStore's communication was extremely poor re the questions I required answering.
3.The Menlyn IStore are trying to resolve their mistakes by offering my a R300 voucher!?
My set of earphones cost me R799 so it's only fair I get reimbursed the same.
Your assistance will be much appreciated.
    Kind Regards

You have to be in a country to use its store - you will need to be in the US and have a US billing address on your account to be able to use the US store (that applies to buying and redownloading).
You can use iTunes Match in South Africa, do you not have a backup copy of all of your US iTunes purchases so that you can subscribe to it and upload those that aren't in the South African store to it ?

  • Why is the ITunes Store in South Africa so limited

why is the ITunes Store in South Africa so limited

Apple can only sell content where the rights-holders grant them licenses to sell it (and in some cases a country's laws also limit things). If there is a particular item that is not currently available that you would like to be able to download then you try requesting that it be added, but unless the rights-holder agrees to it then Apple won't be able to sell it there : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html
For music you could check to see if its available on other music purchase downloads sites that you have access to (or if it's available as a CD then you could buy that and copy it via your computer's iTunes).
For ebooks there are other ebook apps/stores where it might be available e.g. Amazon/Kindle, Nook, Kobo etc
