Itunes staff is asking me to pay for fraudulent purchases?

Hi all.
After my Itunes account was compromised, there remain on my account $38 or so of charges that were rejected after my bank cancelled my credit card.
The Itunes staff acknowledges these charges are fraudulent, but has said that in order to straighten out my account, I must pay them, after which Itunes will refund the purchase price.
Has anyone successfully received a refund under these circumstances? It's a strange request, and one I'm hesitant to accept after having been the victim of fraud. Thoughts?

That said, this is the most ridiculous policy I've ever heard of!
If the only way they can sort out your account is to charge you
again, then process a refund, I think I'd politely suggest that
the person who told you to do this use their card for it.
Let apple charge themselves, then refund themselves.
Else I'd start a new store account, or just quit using it
and buy the music someplace else.
It will probably work out fine - apple will probably charge you then immediately issue a refund. They might have a reason for doing things this way. But if I was in your situation I would not feel comfortable either. I'd change my password, delete my credit card information, and move on. Let apple work it out with your credit card company.
