ITunes start: "Jacket" cannot be loaded in 64-bit version

On starting iTunes I receive the message above, I have searched my entire system for this "jacket"; I have disabled all plugins (deleted them) and I still get it, does anybody know what's behind this? Possibly Apple Scripts? Anybody else with the same problem? And even better: clean solution?

After two months I found it. You can find it in Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-Ins, it is called jacket.bundle. Delete it, and be glad to have removed it.

    Many thanks.
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • ITunes throws "SpectoGraph" could not load in 64-bit mode

After uphgrading to Lion starting iTunes throws "SpectoGraph" could not load in 64-bit mode.
Try selecting "Open in 32-bit mode" in the Finder's info window for iTunes.
Is there any change in Lion? I guess I have to open iTunes in 32-bit, but the question is why?

Is SpectoGraph built into iTunes or a third-party add-on? If the latter you need to ask the developer about it.

it turned out that the "acrobat_com" that I was trying to update, was so
outdated that adobe was no longer supporting it, there fore I got the
error message when I tried to do the "mandatory" update.  It had to be
uninstalled, and then the new one installed from the Adobe web site.
Thanks for your interest and your attempt to help me.

Can you try to download the latest AIR runtime from http://get.adobe.com/air/ ? Make sure all applications are closed when you run the installer.

There is no version of iTunes that truly supports the 64-bit version of Windows XP and never will be. If you search this forum for "XP 64" or do a web search for something like "iTunes Windows XP 64",  you'll find threads describing the process some people have used to "crowbar" iTunes onto XP 64, with varying levels of success, none of them complete.

  • ITunes corrupted, must be reinstalled. Now 'the file iTunes Library itl. cannot be read, created by newer version of iTunes.'

My iTunes programme on Windows PC has suddenly become corrupted and must be reinstalled. After two attempts, I installed the requisite 64 bit version, but it won't open as "The file 'iTunes Library itl.' cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes."  Where do I go from here (bearing in mind very little technical knowhow!)?

There are two things you can try here:
If you updated fairly recently, you can recover a backup copy of the library file made when you updated.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1967?viewlocale=en_US
This gives you the library as it was when you updated.
Or you can recreate your library from the xml file, this will be more up to date, but not all the metadata is recovered.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451
At the end of the article it tells you how to add files you your library if you don't have an xml file.
Anywhere it tells you to drag a file to the trash in either article, I would drag it to the desktop or another folder of your choice in case you need it later.
The second article also include links to general troubleshooting if iTunes will not start after recovering/recreating your library.

  • Plugging in iphone and itunes is telling me to download the 64-bit version.

when i plug my iphone into my computer, itunes keeps telling me to go download the 64-bit version. so i uninstalled itunes and went and downloaded the 64-bit version. i went back into itunes, and it told me the same thing. i'm using a windows 7.

I have a similar problem. When I plug in my iphone it told me to uninstall and download the 64-bit version. When I did that, the 64-bit version wouldn't open because my "library was created with a newer version of iTunes". It appears I can either have my library OR I can sync with my iPhone, but not both. I haven't been able to find answers for this problem.
It's a brand new PC laptop, running Windows 7. Any other specs I should mention?
I would appreciate any suggestions anyone can offer me.

  • While attempting to download the 64bit version of iTunes it is going to delete the 32 bit version currently installed. Will that cause me to lose my current content that was imported from my CD collection?

When upgrading to 64bit iTUNES will content from CDs imported in the 32bit version be lost?

It shouldn't. I'd use the Control Panel to uninstall the x86 version first, then download and install the x64.
Your music will be untouched but I don't know if the x64 version will seamlessly pick up your iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Library.xml files. The XML isn't bit rate specific, but the ITL may be. Either way, your music should remain intact. At worst, you may have to "reload" everything.

  • I recently updated to vista service pack 2 and I updated to itunes 10.2.1 and ever since I did that my itunes won't open any more.  Itunes starts but before anything loads a window pops up saying that the prograam has encountered a problem and shuts down.

I've tried uninstall/reinstalling it, disabling bonjour and the icuuc40 swap out to the older version but nothing has worked, yesterday I upgraded to 10.2.2 and still nothing.  I haven't been able to open itunes for about a month now without it crashing.

Ok perfect I did what you asked, there are 2 different ones that seem to be occurring but the most recent one is:

  • ITunes for Windows 7 shows error messsage "this ipad cannot be connected. install 64 bit version" even though itunes was unistalled and latest version installed several times. what's next?

this ipad worked with iTunes on this PC before but I ve installed new software (don't remember what) and changed password to Apple and iCloud
this ipad works fine with another PC. New iPads can connect to this PC but not the old one. What do i do? buy new PC?
i did this iPad syncing with iTunes already - no result
    ios 7 ipad 3 Cellular 32

Make sure you backup prior to following the steps below:
I'd recommend uninstalling iTunes on your PC, restarting if recommended, then going to the Start button and typing Regedit and searching for anything which mentions iTunes and deleting any mention of it from your Registry as it sounds like something from a previous version of iTunes is still hanging around in your Registry, however be very careful not to delete anything else as this could result in serious issues for you computer.
Once done and all entries for iTunes are deleted from the Registry, check C:\program files or where iTunes was installed and delete the iTunes folder if still present.
Then go here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/ and download iTunes.
    Good luck,
    Steve

  • I have an AMD64 Dual Processor and I am trying to load a 64 bit version of Flash Player Plug-in for FireFox but it does not appear to be working. Do you have any suggestions?

I downloaded flashplayer10_2_p3_64bit_plugin_111710.exe from the Adobe website and ran the .exe I opened Firefox and attempted to view some clips from msnbc.com. However, I received the following message:
To watch video in the new msnbc.com player, you will need to update your version of Adobe Flash Player.

    UserAgent for the OP is - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100405 Namoroka/3.6.3 - he might be running a 64-bit 3rd party build.

  • Why was I required to load the 32 bit version of LR4.3 on my wife's Windows 8 Laptop?

I was setting up my wife's new windows 8 laptop with LR 4.3 and during the installation, I was informed that only the 32 bit version could be installed. It appears as though it performs much slower than windows 7 computers. Other programs installed seem to run at the same speed or faster. Is it due to windows 8 and will windows 8 Pro allow the installation of the 64 bit version??

You installed the 32bit version of Win 8 - or at least LR4 thinks so. Verify that. If yes, then everything is as it should be. If not, something went wrong, but we'd need a lot more info...
