ITUNES START-UP

My iTunes was working fine, but now when I try to open it I get the error message "iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration."
Any help is greatly appreciated.
James

that one is typically caused by a problem with your QuickTime. (itunes uses QuickTime for audio and video playback.)
the following document may be of some assistance with that:

Ok. So my iTunes started acting up a few months ago. ALL of the songs I purchased from the iTunes store stop in the middle of the song and then go back to the begining (I keep it on repeat one song by the way). Please help!!! (Windows 7) I would really like to hear my songs all the way through, but I can't . I tried the "Convert Protected ACC files to Purchased ACC files fix" but it DIDN'T work. I don't know what to do. It does it when I transfer the music onto my Classic too.

What do you mean "doesn't recognize"?

  • ITunes starts fast forwarding tracks after 1hours continuous play?

Hi I have recently updated windows XP on my computer to service pack three. After this update when I am listening to iTunes it suddenly started playing the songs in my library too quickly as if it was stuck on fast forward.
If you stop itunes playing then press play or select a different track it continues to play too fast. The only way to fix the problem is to close itunes and re-open it.
I have now found that this problem starts after iTunes has been playing music for just over an hour, so currently I'm having to close and re-open itunes ever hour to keep listening to music.
Any Idea why this might be happening?
I'm running XP SP3, 3GB ram, 3GHz processor, 200GB HD no where near full. Its iTunes version 8.2.1.6.
    Thanks
    Liam

Anyone else have this problem? I have now timed the problem to exactly 1hour 9minutes of continuous play, so if you play for 30 mins, pause for 15 then play iTunes starts fastforwarding 39 minutes later.

  • Somehow my itunes started a new library and I lost my old library. Itunes will not allow me to sync new music to my ipod without deleting stored music from ipod. How can I start using this new library and sync the new music without losing existing music.

Somehow my Itunes started a new music library and I lost the old library.  Itunes will not allow me to sync new music from my computer to my Ipod because it is now in a different library. Itunes wants to delete all my Ipod music before sync any new music. How do I work around this. I think this happened during Itunes Upates.

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

My iTunes v.10.6.3.25 is intermittently refusing to open. Sometimes re-booting my laptop works, sometimes not. I just put the computer to sleep, and when I woke it up, iTunes started automatically (I had been trying to open it just before by clicking on a song file in my Documents window, and that's the song that started playing when the pc woke up). I went to my iTunes Help and clicked Updates/download iTunes 10.7 twice, but got nothing. Now, Im wondering if I should downloacd the entire 10.7, or whether that would overwrite all my files, erasing my songs. Anybody know? Thanks.

    Hey thanks for replying.
    Here's what I did:
First I tried the Winsock reset in the Command prompt. Nothing changed.
Next, I tried the instructions on http://http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4123. The only other program that came up on the 'Winsock Providers' tab on the program was 2 Windows Live applications, which I can do without. So I deleted all Windows Live Applications.
I did the Winsock reset in the Command Prompt again and rebooted my comp.
Unfortunately, nothing has changed. iTunes keeps freezing at various stages of the sync, then shows the candy cane-striped bar with either the words 'Finishing sync' or 'Cancelling sync', before showing the Apple logo.
Sometimes, iTunes gets to the syncing stage - "Copying # of ####" - where it will trudge through the first, second and third tracks before flashing "Copying 4 of ####" for a split second and I catch "Cancelling sync" briefly before the Apple logo appears.
Again, I've repeated the steps I mentioned in my previous post. Does ANYONE know when the new version of iTunes is set to be released?! This one is driving me INSANE, to say the least!!

  • TS1567 My Ipod Classic appears in my computer when connected to my Windows 8 pc but when itunes starts it no longer appears and is not shown in Itunes also. Itunes appears to disconnect it from pc.

My Ipod Classic appears in My Computer when I connected it to my new Windows 8 pc. When Itunes starts my Ipod is no longer appears in My Computer and is not shown under Devices in Itunes. It appears that Itunes disconnects my Ipod from the pc. My Ipod still sync's up fine with Itunes on my old Windows XP pc.

  • ITunes started freezing up on Windows 7 home while down loading podcasts and university videos.  Now, I can't even get iTunes to open on my computer.  what do I need to do?

itunes started freezing up on Windows 7 while downloading podcasts, books, itunes university items.  Now, I can't even get itunes to open on my computer.  What should I do?

It seems that in some cases the scripts on Apple's site that are intended to query your system to offer the appropriate installer don't work as intended, taking you straight to the "Thank you for downloading" page.  Depending on the edition of Windows you are running, there are three variants of the most recent version of iTunes, with direct links to the installers as follows:
    iTunes 12.1.2.27 (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe
    iTunes 12.1.2.27  (64-bit) - iTunes6464Setup.exe
    iTunes 12.1.2.27 (64-bit "for older video cards") - itunes64setup.exe
The third of these - which is actually the 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer - should be used if you get a warning about video card incompatibility when you install the standard 64-bit version, but also may resolve issues with playback, QuickTime compatibility, and problems with some third-party applications (including Outlook).
See turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for more details if you're still having problems with installation.

  • ITunes starting up

Upon connecting my Ipod touch, iTunes starts up with this message window:
APPLE-IPOD TOUCH WAS NOT COPIED TO THE IPOD (MY NAME,S IPOD) BECAUSE IT COULD NOT BE FOUND.
    What is the problem?

    Hi,
The usual culprit for this is the iTunes Widget - open dashboard and disable it,
and your problem should be solved.

  • ITunes Library.itl keeps disappearing when iTunes starts

I just updated to iTunes 10.8.0.40.  Now my iTunes Library.itl file keeps disappearing.
When iTunes starts, I get a message that says, "The iTunes Library.itl file cannot be found or created.  The default location for this file is in the "iTunes" folder inthe "Music" folder."
I copy a backup from the "Previous iTunes Library" folder and then iTunes will start.  However, the file disappears again as iTunes is starting.  Right after it disappears, iTunes displays a message that says, "Checking iTunes Library..." followed by "Updating iTunes Library..."  Then I get a message that says, "The iTunes Library file cannot be saved.  A folder was specified instead of a file."
The process repeats endlessly.  How do I stop iTunes from deleting the iTunes Library.itl file as it starts?

I fixed this by removing iTunes and installing MediaMonkey.  Most of the music I have in iTunes has been ripped from my CDs and MediaMonkey found all of those MP3's within a couple minutes.  The last time I had to rebuild my iTunes database, it took two days because I couldn't figure out how to stop it from analyzing the volume.  The few albums that I bought through iTunes, I will burn to a CD and re-rip.  Despite the name, MediaMonkey seems to be a much better program for managing music and runs significantly faster on my little HP mini.
This is the fourth and last time I'm dealing with the problem of iTunes deleting my database.  Good riddance iTunes.

Is iTunes endlessly saying "Accessing iTunes Store"? Or is something a bit different going on?

  • Itunes starts itself

itunes starts all by itself playing music unbidden!

There is too much of this for it to be something any individual does. It has to be a fault with iTunes. I upgraded to Yosemite thinking that might fix it, but uh-uh. I call my blank playlist "Stupid iTunes Try And Play This".  This is not a fix though, because iTunes will still start up on its own. I also have tried everything anyone has suggested in these discussions, and none of them really seem to work. Thought it might be when a site is auto refreshing itself like a golf leaderboard. "Oh, let's play a tune while you are waiting for the latest scores." Also thought the TV remote might be activating it, so I disabled the infrared remote receiver. http://www.iclarified.com/37869/how-to-disable-your-macs-remote-control-infrared -receiver Doesn't explain why it is doing it in the middle of the night, though. If I shut iTunes down before I go to bed, when I wake up in the morning it is active again. At least the blank list maintains the silence. Safari is trying to even the score though. If I leave it open, when I check in the morning it has shut down on its own.

  • ITunes starts and plays songs automatically

I installed Itunes 12.0.1.26 and Yosemite last night and now iTunes starts and plays songs automatically.  What is the problem with iTunes?  Could someone else have my iTunes account?  Should I delete ITunes and re-installed?

I agree with/have same problem as vinfromacton.
I know it's Flash causing the problem:iTunes had been functioning normally until this morning when I downloaded Flashto allow me to listen to archived radio programs on the internet.
Once I downloaded Flash, iTunes startedopening and playing automatically ~ every 2-3 minutes. Annoying as it playsover audio I am listening to &/or recording.
Only fix I've found is to turn iTunesvolume down to zero: does not stop iTunes from opening - it continues to do so- but I don't hear the iTunes audio.
I'm also going to try dr alexander'ssuggestion: Open a blank Playlist > leave iTunes focus there>quit iTunes.
It reopens but at least it'ssilenced....
Haven't tried it but I would imagine uninstallingFlash (need to download the uninstaller from the Adobe website) would solve theproblem. This however would lead me back to my original problem: no Flash >cannot listen to audio archived on the internet and other internet audio...
I'm also going to call Apple: I haveAppleCare. Will re-post after talking to them.

recently, my iTunes started starting up automatically. i read in an old archived forum to solve this problem just disable any iTunes widgets and that took care of the problem.

I see that you "answered it", but here are a few tips for those who may be reading:
First: Check your login items! Open System Preferences (Applications folder), the click on accounts. Select your user account on the left, and click the "Login Items" tab. Whatever you see there will open upon boot, or more specifically, login to your account. You SHOULD see an item called "iTunes Helper", but make sure that "iTunes", the application, is not listed. If it is, select it, and click the "-" button below. You may need admin authentication (password), to remove login items.
Second: Check your iPod Preferences (if you have one). In iTunes 7, you select your attached iPod in the source list. On the "Summary" screen, you should see a bunch of check boxes at the bottom - one will read "Open iTunes when iPod is attached". Uncheck this box, and click apply. If you're using iTunes 6 or earlier, it's in the "General" pane of the iPod's preferences. You can access the preferenes by selecting the icon on the bottom left corner of the window, if I rememeber. It's also part of iTunes general preferences - just click the "iPod" tab.
You'll need to repeat this for every different iPod you attach to this machine, or if you restore your iPod.
Third: Go back to system preferences. You'll see a preference pane called "CDs & DVDs". Open it. This tells the Mac what to do when such a disc is inserted into the drive. Make sure that nothing says "Open iTunes".
If none of these work, you should try the age-old recomendations of verifying and repairing permissions (using Disk Utility: /Applications/Utilities), or zapping the PRAM. (Search Apple's support site using PRAM and your Mac model). If those don't succede, I bow to someone of greater knowledge.
I hope this may be of assitance to someone,
