Itunes starting on its own

Does anyone suffer this problem, itunes just starts for no reason and starts playing when I switch the computer on. I then quit itunes and it starts again.
Can anyone offer an explaination for this occurring?
I do not have the computer set to start any programs at start up.
Thanks
Steve

Check Dashboard to see if you have any iTunes-related widgets running. If so, close them and see if that makes a difference. Other third-party programs that link to and/or access iTunes data, such as the applications that post what's currently playing on sites like Facebook, may do the same thing, so see if you have any of those running.
Hope this helps.

  • Mac Mini - Screensaver starting on its own and clock is fast ...

    Hi there experts ....
I've got a 4 month old Mac mini
    Model Identifier: Macmini3,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.53 GHz
I've noticed for the past couple of months the clock is 4 minutes fast ....
And the screeensaver is coming on by itself out of nowhere ...
I/ve run disk repair ... Maintenance ... put screensaver to never and even disabled front row screensaver
I've reset pram and nvram ... ANy clues ....?

So even if you put the screensaver to never it still starts on its own?
Also you clock runs faster by 4mins?
I smell an OS issue. Partition your drive and install a fresh OS onto it. If it works(no problem there) then restore the partition into 1 drive. Zero out the drive and put a fresh OS in it
    **back it up first
If the fresh OS on the new partition still fails. it could be a hardware failure.

  • ITunes relaunches on its own when iPhone is plugged in?!

    Hi guys,
This "issue" never happened before, but since I upgraded iOS to version 7 on my iPhone 4 (GSM), iTunes (also recently and manually updated to the latest version) will restart after I close it when my phone is plugged in in USB. Basically, I back up / sync my iPhone, then close iTunes. About thirty seconds later, iTunes restarts on its own, and I have to close it again to keep it that way, until the next restart.
At first, I thought it had to do with a loose or shaky USB slot, but I let my Mac sit on a flat surface, with the iPhone by its side, and every time I close iTunes, it restarts on its own, no matter what. Repairing permissions didn't help.
This is driving me nuts, all the more so since I've checked in iTunes preferences, and couldn't find any mention of a "keep alive" iTunes functionality.
I should add that this problem also happens when syncing via Wifi, but not as regularly as in USB mode.
Ideas, anyone? Should I check or uncheck something on the iPhone?

Well, sure enough, there it was, and boy, it didn't come alone...

  • One note starts on its own when I use Remote Desktop connection

Whenever I use RDC to connect to my home server, One note start and pops up totally on its own on my local computer.
Can anyone explain why, and more importantly how I can stop this behaviour?

After hours of reading through forums and posts similar to this one, and knowing the proposed work-arounds were not going to be accepted by my client that was having the issue, I came to the conclusion that it had to be a print driver or the software that
gets installed along with the print driver on the server that was causing my issue.
I started searching and came across some Epson software that was installed on the remote desktop server when I was trying to get a scale house ticket printer to work as a network printer. The printer was not installed on the server but the software remained
in the add and remove programs list.
I removed the three Epson entries in the add and remove programs list and the problem stopped.
I don't know if this was mentioned above but the behavior I observed was that the print job was going to multiple printers, not just OneNote. I my case if I removed the OneNote pritner I would then get prompted by the Microsoft XPS Document Writer for a
    file location to save to.
I could open the print queue for each of the printers that were getting redirected on my local machine, I would then log in to the remote desktop server that I was having the issue on. I could see the "remote desktop redirected printer doc" get
sent to each printer. If the printer was online it would flash for only a moment and the printer would ignore the job as if nothing had been sent to it. If the printer was offline the job would stay in the queue.
I think this was mentioned above so I will reiterate, don't approach the issue like it is a problem just with OneNote or with a particular driver from a particular manufacturer. We know at the very least that the problem can be caused by Samsung driver/printer
software and by Epson driver/printer software so it stands to reason that there can be other drivers/printer software packages that can cause the same problems.
    I hope this helps!

  • Dial-up starting on its own

See my previous question. If I leave my PC to just go to sleep on its own, as per C) method, it sometimes starts to dial up, and I have to hurriedly hit the Disconnect button (Am not on Broadband, it is not yet available my area), so I have to be careful that it hasnt done this after I have left the room. Anyone any ideas how to prevent this?
Apple Mac os x Panther   Mac OS X (10.3)

go to System Preferences --> network ---> internal modem --->configure ---> PPP options.
There should be a check box that says "connect automatically when needed"
Make sure this box is NOT checked.
that should solve your problem (I hope)

  • Slideshow is starting on its own

    iPhoto 8.1.2
when I open iPhoto then select a photo to view, it is starting a slideshow on its own. I am unable to exit the show when I hit esc it restarts the slideshow. I can look at the strip at the bottom of the screen. I can not control it in any way. I have to force quite by holding down the power button.l
    not happy

Try this simple fix: trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    *What's the plist file?*
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.
I have to force quite by holding down the power button.l
    Have you tried option-command-powerbutton?

  • Itunes opens on its own

My iTunes 10.5.2 keeps opening on it's own. I can't seem to stop it. This has been going on for many weeks now.

It's the Resume feature of Lion:
Managing Mac OS X Lion's application resume feature.
If you shutdown your computer you should get a dialog asking if you want applications to resume on the next startup. Simply uncheck the box to prevent that from occurring. Open General preferences and uncheck the option to Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps. You can also install a third-party utility to control resume features on individual applications: RestoreMeNot or Application State Cleaner.

  • Books from iTunes reads on its own randomly

Iphone 5 starts reading books from iTunes randomly when i'm not even touching my phone

You should also ask this in the iPhone forum. This is the forum for the white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.   https://discussions.apple.com/community/iphone

  • ITunes life of its own

I was sitting here checking my e-mail when iTunes popped open with an alert telling me I don't have the access privileges required to save the iTunes music library. I didn't even try to save anything, and iTunes was just open playing music in the background. Started doing this yesterday.

I have the same issue. Just today it's started happening. While watching a video I'd suddenly hear the intro to one of my podcasts, however when I paused the video the podcast would also stop. I close iTunes and all other unneeded programs when watching movies, and yet it opens by itself and begins to play the first podcast in my podcast library.
This has happened 5-6 times in last few hours, and is now driving me to want to uninstall iTunes (despite my large music library, iPhone, and iPod--listening Apple?) so I can make it through a movie without this interruption.
We all know how adept Apple is at issuing a software update when a jailbreak hits the internet, so why not apply some of the coding to this flaw?

  • Mac Pro starting on its own.

I have run across a bug I think. After shutting down a Mac Pro the machine has turned itself on during the night. In Preferences -> Energy Saver -> Startup after power failure has been unchecked. There are no applications that have a 'run during the night' theme so I am at a loss as to why the machine starts itself up. Anybody have any clues?

I think you're confusing sleep and shut down. If a machine is asleep (which is what it does if you just shut the lid on a laptop) and you plug in or unplug a USB device, the computer will wake up. Of course, if you're unplugging a USB flash drive in this way, you could damage it.
OTOH, if the machine is shut down, it will not detect removal of a USB device, much less start back up.

  • ITunes off in its own world

Our iTunes plays about 18 hours a day, every day, but what I saw and heard it doing the other day was interesting. It was playing an apparently never ending series of 3 - 4 second tracks that don't exist in my Library and each track was a single note with different instruments. I didn't hear it repeating itself either. The track names looked like random arrangements of about 15 alpha and numeric characters. Only the last 4 digits seemed to change.
I do have a lot of unusual music in the Library so I was not aware of anything odd for a few minutes. I began to realise that what I was listening to was even more weird than my 'off the wall' taste so I went to have a look at the screen and found what is described above. I only regret that I didn't record what it was doing because it was pretty good.
    Anyone had the same 'problem'?

You can use this software to add it to the menu bar:

  • Mission control starts on its own every few seconds to once minute.........very frustrating

I bought a new iMac in August. A few weeks have gone by and my new computer is AWESOME. I just switched from pc and have been very happy. But......yesterday when i turned it on Mission Control would start to turn on randomly every few seconds. It happens all the time now, it really *****, and i have no idea what to do about it. I thought maybe i was activating with magic mouse so i tuned off that feature and it still happens. What should i do?

YES!!!!!! After many hours on the phone with apple (very god customer service, those guys really wanted to help) we determined that the keyboard was the defective. They gave me a replacement at no cost and now my computer works perfect once again. One of the indicators that it was the keyboard was that i couldn't make an upper case e using the shift button. By opening opening up Mac OS X Utillities and having me type in the onlline help section we saw the problem persited and they were able to dertime that it was a hardware problem and not the software, from there all it was was a quick trip to the apple store. Good luck i hope my experiance was helpful.

  • Why does this mavericks start on its own? even after downloading GFX card status it keeps on restarting. Fix it Apple. I'm going Banana.

The laptop says kernel error, but after downloading GFX card status the laptop keeps on getting restarted. Oh why did i buy a macbook?

Either your Mac is broken, or you have something installed which isn't compatible. Hard to tell without the kernel panic log.
