ITunes stays busy for up to five minutes after starting

Okay, Windows 7 Pro, iTunes 10.3.1.55.  iPod Touch available via wireless.  Nothing from Apple is in my startup list.
When I start my computer, iTunes may or may not start up automatically.  When it does start up, most of the time it displays a busy mouse arrow for up to five minutes.  I can do nothing with iTunes until it finishes its "routine".  I can't even terminate it except with Task Manager.
I've gone through the options and tried to turn off anything that would cause this, such as synching with the iPod.  I keep hoping with each new release that Apple will solve my problem so I can use iTunes when it starts up.
Help!  This is really annoying!
Gerry

  • Why does my IMac shut down five minutes after start up?

I have a 21" Imac, purchased 2010. If I don't login to a user account within five minutes of start up the IMac shuts down.  It used to go to a sleep mode.
My OS is Mavericks, 10.9.3.  I also have the latest security update.  A message comes on the start screen within one minute.  It reads, if you are having trouble entering your password press the start button to shut down, then press again to enter a recovery OS.  If I login within 5 minutes of start all is well.
    Thanks, Gary

  • I have elements 10, the organizer wont stay open for more that a minute, i open it closes.

Hi all, I have elements 10 and the darn organizer will not stay open for more than a minute, which makes useing the program a pain in the butt. does anyone else have this problem and how did you fix it. Im running XP on an older machine in which the edit part works fine.HELP

Hold down your Shift key while launching the Organizer to get to the Catalog Manager.  Highlight your catalog at the bottom of the window, and choose "Repair".  Repeat, using "Optimize".
If that doesn't solve it, from the Catalog Manager, create a new catalog (with a different name).

  • When i push the off button, i want my iphone 5 to stay unlocked for 3 or 4 minutes: how do I achieve this please?

When i push the off button, i want my iphone 5 to stay unlocked for 3 or 4 minutes: how do I achieve this please?

When you say you want it to stay unlocked, do you mean that you don't want to have to swipe to unlock it if you push the home button in that time, or do you mean you don't want to have to ender your passcode if you turn it back on within that time?
If you're referring to the passcode lock, Settings>General>Passcode Lock>Requie Passcode. Set the interval you want.
If you can't change the time before it request the passcode, that's likely because you have an Exchange account set up on the phone and the administrator is enforcing a policy that requires passcode entry immediatly after placing the phone in standby.

Contact Apple Support or an Apple Store if you have one near you. Your battery needs to run through the diagnostic test. You can also try to put the device into Recovery mode as well and rsetore the iOS software, and set up the device as new. Follow this article on Recovery Mode:

  • After upgrading to Mountain Lion from Lion, Mail, Safari and note need about five minutes to start.

After upgrading to Mountain Lion from Lion, Mail, Safari and Note need about five minutes to start.
After starting, Mail answers are very very slow. The same for Note. Instead of, sending mails is only a bit slower than before upgrading.
In Safari, I choose Goggle as starting page in Preferences, but at every restart misses that starting page and the search strip says "Seek Google or instert an address".

Well, I found the solution here in another thread.
i just want to mention that the samw thing was happening also for the notes and the reminders apps!! (they quit unexpectedly!!).
So I found the solution here.
    Thank you graphicsluc!!!

That is the highest you will be able to go with 3g. You need 3gs or 4 to go any higher (multi processors and more memory needed).  Version 4.2.1 marks the end of your updates for that device.

You ask for help improving a script that you already wrote, but you don't provide said script, nor tell us which part of the script you're having difficulties with... This makes it a bit hard to help you...
Still, I would not suggest going down the route of creating a script for this. Yes it can obviously be done, but there are mechanisms out there that are already more appropriate for handling such things which do not involve re-inventing the wheel: GPO and
Scheduled Tasks are two of them.
If you create it as a *pure* script with no "help" from outside applications, you need to consider these things:
    - How do I deploy the script to every machine?
    - The script will need to be running in the background the whole time, from the time the computer starts up until it shuts down (it will sit idly doing absolutely nothing until it's past 10:00, but it will be running in the background nonetheless).
    - How do you ensure it's running properly?
    - Who will support it going forward?
If you use a GPO, you don't have to worry about any of those things (except about how to tell whether it's running properly).
Alternatively, you could also create a scheduled task which kicks off at 10:00 daily with a condition of only start if computer is idle for over 30m where the command that it executes is to hibernate the computer. Scheduled tasks can also be created by GPO,
so you don't have to worry about many of the things you would normally have to worry about if you were using a script.
Again, don't try to re-invent the wheel unless there is some benefit to it. From what you told us about your requirements, there isn't in your particular case.

I'm using same apple id for my ipad & ipod but after start using the same apple id on my ipad, i can't update my free software downloaded on both, it's showing "YOU CAN NOT UPDATE THIS SOFTWARE SINCE YOU HAVE NOT OWNED THE MAJOR VERSION OF THIS SOFTWARE" so how i can update my softwares on ipad & ipod using the same apple id

I think the issue is that iTunes (for whatever reason) thinks I have two Apple ID's.
also, to further complicate the issue, when i try updating the apps from my iPod the iTunes store is still recognizing my old hotmail Apple ID. So when I go to enter my password it won't accept because it doesn't match with the old Apple ID, even though it is the same account (just new Apple ID name).
I have tried signing out within the App Store and re-signing in with my Apple ID but it still brings up my old Apple ID name when I try to update.

  • Firefox shuts my computer down a few minutes after starting it.

It's real simple for anybody but people at Mozilla. MY COMPUTER SHUTS DOWN a few minute after starting FireFox. The Firefox website is broken, and nobody pays attention to anything. In plain english, everything Mozilla bites. Got it now? Not likely...
    == Crash ID(s) ==
    0x00000000
    == User Agent ==
    Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.0; Trident/4.0; GTB6.4; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; Media Center PC 5.0; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; InfoPath.2; OfficeLiveConnector.1.4; OfficeLivePatch.1.3)

The entire computer crashes? I don't think I've ever seen a case where Firefox crashes the operating system. Could you give us more details?
    * Does the computer turn off, or do you get some error screen, or does the entire system freeze?
    * Are you usually on the same site when it happens?
    * Do you have any add-ons installed?
    * When was the last time you scanned your computer for malware?

  • Firefox 3.6.3 segfaults between 10 seconds and 1 minute after starting

Yesterday, some of my addons updated (I can't remember which). Everything was fine until about an hour ago firefox segfaulted (with three windows and ~90 tabs it does this occasionally).
Now, firefox segfaults between 10 seconds and 1 minute after starting to load. Even with no restored session - just the moz homepage as the single tab, even in safemode.
I'm using firefox 3.6.3 on an AMD-64 machine running Kubuntu Jaunty (9.04) KDE3 version.
    == Troubleshooting information ==
I don't know how to find all but includes past modern theme, googlebar, en.gb dictionary (recently installed), session manager, tab mix plus, character identifier, flash and realplayer plugins, super drag and go (I think), add bookmark here (possibly)

Going back to a profile backup from two days ago has seemingly worked, implying that the problem was the new en-GB language pack so I'll have find out where to report a bug on that.
This can be marked as solved now by anyone who knows how.

  • My MacBook Pro 15" i7 2011 freezes suddenly minutes after starting up.

My MacBook Pro 15" i7 2011 freezes suddenly minutes after starting up the computer.
Sometimes it beeps after freezing, and keeps beeping forever until I shut down the computer by pressing the power button.
Other times the screen gets a little darker and a text appears saying I need to turn off the computer by pressing the power button and restart, but after restarting the computer freezes again. Each time I turn it on it takes only a few minutes to freeze it seams, about 2-3 minutes or less, and occasionaly it doesn´t even start up.
I don´t recall the exact version of the operating system, its MacOSX (10.6 or something)
    Any sollutions?

Three beeps is usually indicative of a RAM problem.  Take out one RAM chip and see what happens and then swap with the other one.  See if there is a difference.  Also engage the Apple hardware test and see if that offers any useful information.
    Ciao.

  • Brand new IMac 27 bluetooth mouse and keyboard not connecting for eight minutes after start up.

I have a new imac 27 that has worked flawlessly for three weeks.
All of a sudden, when starting up the mac boots fine but the bluetooth mouse and keyboard are non responsive. This state is maintained for between 7 and 8 minutes then both mouse and keyboard start working and continue doing so for the rest of the day....until the next restart and the whole saga repeats itself.
Both sets of batteries are fully charged.
I have scoured different sites and tried any suggestion that made any sense, to no avail. All I am able to do at the moment is to do the time, wait the 7 to 8 mins. and then all's good.
My first Mac and this is very annoying especially as Apple must be aware of this issue but no solution is forthcoming!
    Any suggestions/workarounds would be great.
    Thanks

if you are using rechargeable batteries sometimes they don't stay charged for as long as they should try using alkalaine batteries and see if the issue still persists.
also try doing an SMC reset, the following article tells how to do this:
