Itunes still wont open! I've tried everything.
I need help!
I have downloaded and installed the new itunes which just wont open. It comes up with the hourglass... then nothing (if I go to my task manager it says itunes is running.. it definitely isnt!). I have tried uninstalling itunes, installing standalone quicktime then redownloading itunes and it still wont open. Does anyone have any suggestions??

Uninstall iTunes. It's borked. Uninstall ewido. It's also borked.
Download, install and update Spybot Search & Destroy, then run it. Set it to run on next boot, as well.
You might also want to check your computer for rootkits.
Are you sure that your system meets the minimum system requirements cited below?

I downloaded Quicktime but iTunes still wont open
I accidentally removed Quicktime from my programs list because I didn't know that I needed it to run iTunes. so I went online and downloaded it and iTunes still wont open. Saying that: "Quicktime was not found!" and "Please reinstall iTunes" so I re-downloaded iTunes and I'm still getting the same message.
How do I get QuickTime back on my programs list?
Is re-downloading QuickTime a wast of time?
What am I doing wrong?
I can sit here and download it all day its not going to change anything?If you just deleted QT from C:\Program Files you may be able to restore it from the Recycle Bin. If you used the add/remove control panel, you probably want to use it again. And then download a new iTunes QT installer

make sure your iPhone is disconnected, open task manager, click on the processes tab, and find itunes.exe or something that says iTunes and right click it and click end process, then close task manager, and open iTunes. Should work

Then proceed to repair your Quicktime:

my itunes wont open at all on windows 7 it worked at first but now not at all.
i have tried every fix i can find online and nothing.
-checked if it was user
-checked quicktime
-tried opening in safe mode
-uninstalled several times
-checked roaming files

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it, which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. ITunes won't open, I've tried everything
I am hoping that someone can help as I've been having this problem since 3/23. My iTunes will not open. Everytime I try I get the generic "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." message. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I have checked for problems with quicktime. Quicktime works fine. I have tried setting up a new user account to see if it works there, it does not. I have tried a system restore on my laptop, I have run a registry cleaner, I have done everything short of offering my first born to get it to work. Please help. I really hate having to use windows media player. Thank you so much!
ya, I have the same problem. Restarting the computer seems to make iTunes work again, at least for me, but even after doing that, iTunes still stops working a lot. I wish they could just come out with that update that will fix all this. If i find anything that might fix it, I'll reply again and tell you how to fix it, 'cause I've been trying to fix this thing almost all day everyday.

It looks like you and b noir have done quite a bit of troubleshooting, the right troubleshooting to. It is strange iTunes did not launch after doing a selective startup and in a new administrator user account.
Have you modified the registry while trying to resolve this issue? Also like b noir, I think the next place to look would be security software. what security software is running on the computer?

Start by gettting the Windows updates then skip to "Empty your Temp directory and restart" and continue down the article.

I don't know what "everything" is, unless you state them, so I have to ask if you did this procedure to reset the iPod shuffle.

If that does not help, is the iPod recognized by iTunes when it is connected to USB? If so, select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar (under DEVICES). Over to the right, go to the Settings screen. There should be a Restore button there. Restore will erase the iPod, install the latest software, and give it the default settings. After it completes, load some songs on it and try it again. Hopefully, it will play now.
If that does not help either, please post back. -

Completely remove iTunes and all Apple software components from your PC.
Run Windows update. Get your machine completely up to date. Re-boot.
Run Windows update again.
Repeat this process until there are no more updates available. There are often updates and patches that will not appear until another update/patch is installed.
Once the machine is completely up to date, re-download and re-install iTunes. -
