Itunes stopped opening on windows 7

I was downloading redeem song, locked up.  Now iTunes won't open, only the miniplayer.  I have uninstalled, reinstalled, changed read only in folder.
Running Windows 7 on 64 bit.  Tried installing iTunes for 64 bit.  What happened?

I have had a few improper shutdowns, but I'd have my machine on for hours and still nothing happened. It also doesn't load if I plug my iPhone into the computer, which in the past has been an automatic load/sync on my computer. All I wanted to do is import a new album on my phone and instead I've run into a maelstrom of problems :-(
Thanks for the suggestions, b noir, and you and anyone else can feel free to keep 'em coming before they have to send someone to fit me for a straitjacket

  • Firefox 4 stops opening new windows after browser window dragged to second display

Firefox 4 stops opening new windows after browser window dragged to second display. It's weird. Behavior is fine until I drag any browser window to the attached second display, and after this point it stops opening new windows but will still open new tabs in the same window. Restart fixes it until I drag the window back to the second display.
"Show all bookmarks" stops working too--won't open a new window.
This is after clean reinstall with total deletion of any Firefox/Mozilla folders and the previously installed app and a restart of the computer.

    windows installer has stopped working
a problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is avabilable.
    ... and that's one that I wasn't thinking of ...
Head into your Windows Update. Are there any new updates available for you? If so, and you install, does that clear up the error message?

With no changes to my system, iTunes 7 stopped openning. I have not even received an error message. When I click on the file, the hourglass appears breifly and disappears. In the task manager window, the program appears momentarily and also disappears. I have attempted to unistall and reinstall to no avail. I have also attempted to repair it through the Control Pannel, but was prompted that I must make sure my system has the "privleges" capability to run iTunes. I am stumped.

  • Itunes wont open on Windows XP

I have installed, then uninstalled several times, itunes and quick time from apple.com via cable on my laptop with windows xp. All the icons are on the desktop, but itunes wont open when double clicked. I do not get any error message, only hour glass appears for a few seconds and then its gone. I turned off NIS before installing, removed temp files, deleted previous downloads, restarted computer, updated windows, turned off firewall - nothing has worked so far. Any suggestions !!!

    hi Singh!
is that Norton Internet Security 2005 that you've got? if so, let's first check up on this issue:
iTunes 6 won't open on a Windows computer if firewall software is not up-to-date
... but if no joy with that, let's try the trusty Lorraine M technique:
    Lorraine M: NIS/itunes problem rectified
but if no joy with either of those, we'd better check up on this issue, which can produce the same symptoms you're reporting (no error messages whatsoever and a "two-second hourglass"):
iTunes for Windows doesn't open after upgrading
    keep us posted

  • Itunes wont open with windows 7

I've tried a previous post that suggested a bonjour fix and it didn't work for my problem.I really hate that EVERY time I do an itunes update I go through major issues to work out the bugs!!! I love my ipod, but this is becoming more of a problem than the thing is worth to me.

Enable the guest account in Windows 7 and see if itunes will open in that account.
This will tell us if it's a user-specific problem, or system-wide.
Then work through the steps here, depending on what you find in the guest account.

  • Itunes wont open on Windows 7. Have tried EVERYTHING?

My name is Hunter and i have tryed everything to open up my Itunes.
I have Windows 7 on a HP Probook 4425s and i have been all over the web looking for help.
I have tried uninstalling and repairing multiple times and still nothing.
Any help would be greatly appriciated.
    Thank you

I also have the same problem. I have uninstalled Itunes and reinstalled but it still will not open. The blue circle (loading sign), appears for about one second but nothing happens. Any help will be appreciated. Cheers, Tim.

  • Itunes wont open in windows 7 32 bit

Itunes will not open in windows 7.  I get a message stating that Apple support is not loaded.

Someone else suggested uninstalling Quicktime.  I did that, and it worked for my 64bit Windows 7.  Good luck!

  • Terminal won't stop opening two windows.

Every time I open Terminal, it opens two windows. One window has a bunch of text at the top that appears to be old commands(perhaps that I had typed? I don't remember all that I've typed into Terminal since the beginning of time ) in grey and then the normal Terminal prompt in the usual green(that's the theme I have) after all the text. The second window is in a fullscreen space thingy(Lion's mission control interface) and it looks similar except the text is different and there is a LOT more of it.
I'm not quite sure what to do to make this stop. I've tried deleting the plist file for Terminal. I've tried restarting the computer. I've tried closing both windows, opeing a new one, positioning how I'd like it posistioned, then quitting Terminal by holding alt/option and cliking "Quit and Keep All Windows" from the Terminal menu.
Is there a place where there are setting files for an app's window positions/defaults?
It may also be good to mention, as it seems possibly relevant, that every time I open iPhoto, it opens in a fullscreen space much like the second Terminal window. I've tried similar things on iPhoto to get IT to stop doing this.
    Thanks for any help!

Okay, so I actually found a solution to the problem!
I cannot claim it as my own since I found it on another discussion page as well as CNET, but I'll post what I did here for others to see.
    The two helpful pages were:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-20083707-263/managing-mac-os-x-lions-applic ation-resume-feature/
    and
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15859853#15859853
    What I did was:
    1. Enable "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps" under General in System Preferences(I don't know for sure if this is necessary, but it seemed harmless with my new found knowledge as you'll see in a moment)
    2. Navagate to "~/Library/Saved Application State/" in Finder
    3. Find the folder named "com.apple.Terminal.savedState"
    4. Move it to the trash
This resets the state that the application uses to open each time it opens, when you open it now, it'll recreate the folder
    5. Launch Terminal
    6. Open the Get Info dialog for the newly created "com.apple.Terminal.savedState" and tick the "Lock" checkbox
This prevents the contents of the folder from being changed, resultantly preventing ONLY Terminal from saving the state of it's windows on closing.
Not only did this solve THIS problem, but it opened up some cool options:
-By Locking any of these folders, one can keep a sort of template for how they'd like the windows of an application to open every time.
-One can leave on the "Reopen windows" preference but select applications for which they do not wan't it to work. It is a semi useful feature, and I can understand why it was added, it just seems like an oversigt that it was only a global or no feature.
-One can reset the window options of any trouble making apps in the future.
Note: This also solved the problem I was having with iPhoto!
