Itunes stopped playing my video

First, I have itunes 6.0.4 and Quicktime 7.1.1. itunes suddenly quit playing any of my videos. Never had a problem before. Content consists of both music video (purchased and non itms) and downloaded TV shows from itms. I click on the item as usual and nothing happens. The view box says nothing playing. Non-video music plays okay. When I select a video and goto file/get info, I can play the video in the preview box. I can open the video with Quicktime and it all plays as it should. The only problem is playing from my itunes library screen. Any ideas?

I have the same problem. I was looking in the forum to see if there is an answer, but apparently not. This *****. I have tons of videos and as of yesterday, I was able to play them all easily on iTunes 6. Today I upgraded to iTunes 7 only beacuse it was required by the iTunes music store to purchase a video, now I have purchased it I can not even play it. When I click on the video selection in my iTunes library nothing happens. When I click on the play button when the video is hightlighted in the player nothing happens. what the ****? So far it hasn't effected the players ability to play music. I tried reinstalling the software and that did nothing. Anyone have any ideas?

    Hi,
The "Tools" are in the old drop down menu, which are not shown by default in the new Firefox Design. To show this menu:
    Firefox Menu > Customize
On the bottom left there will be Show/Hide Toolbars. The Menu will be listed here.

At various stages over the years, mouse-related iTunes trouble has been associated with driver conflicts. So it might be worth following up on that possibility.
Head to the drivers and downloads page for your model of PC, and check to make sure you're not behind on any chipset and input-device-related driver updates. (And while there, just in case, also check to make sure your BIOS, sound-card/integrated audio, and video-card/display-adaptors are up to date.)
If you're behind on anything, and you update, does that help with the mouse-related iTunes issues?

  • Safari randomly stopped playing Youtube videos

Just the other day Safari stopped playing Youtube videos. I have tried running safari in 32bit mode but nothing. I would appreciate any info or help, thanks.

I went to http://www.youtube.com/html5 and found that I was part of the HTML5 trial for YouTube and that YouTube videos should be playing via HTML5 and not Flash.
I left the HTML5 trial so that the video were being played by nasty old Flash... Guess what, it works.
Videos are now playing normally using Flash.
My suggestion is go to http://www.youtube.com/html5 and see if you are part of the HTML5 trial also, if you are, leave the trial and see how you go.

  • Itunes stops playing on Windows 7

I have just installed the most recent Itunes 64 bit for Windows 7 (10.6.1.7)
Itunes stops playing after about 5 songs if there is nothing else running. If there is another program running, it happens after a minute.
Everything seems to work except music playback. The play/pause command can be clicked but the progress bar won't move and no audio plays.
The problem also occurs when Itunes is started in Safe Mode and also when a new library is created.
I must close and restart to hear music another 4-5 songs before the situation repeats.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Music purchased and downloaded from iTunes will not play in the Windows Media Player.
Try re downloading the album >
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • ITunes stops playing music after 20 seconds

Hi there, after upgrading my os to Mac OS 10.5.1 and iTunes 7.6, iTunes stops playing my tunes after about 20 seconds. I have no idea why this is happening???

Try deleting the cache. Go to User Name>Library>Cache. Locate the iTunes cache file and delete that file.

  • Why does my iTunes stop playing when I close the lid on my laptop?

I am playing iTunes on my Vista laptop and my setting are 'do nothing' for both powered and battery use, but when I close the lid iTunes stops playing music. Does anyone know why and how I stop it? Please don't say "don't close the lid..." Thanks.

You have your answer... there is no way to stop iTunes from stopping playing music when the lid is closed.
You can try adjusting the power settings, but if that's not working...there is no way for iTunes to override it.

  • ITunes stops playing and cannot connect to Remote app whenever the computer display turns off??

I have a Windows system with iTunes, and an iPhone with the Remote app installed, through which I use to play music on iTunes. Until recently iTunes would play regardless of whether my monitor was on or not, and I could connect to iTunes with the Remote app regardless of the monitor state. Now, however, after updating both iTunes and Remote with the new versions that came out around the time of the iPhone 4S release, whenever my computer turns off my monitor, iTunes stops playing at the end of the current song and the Remote app cannot find iTunes. This is not a system sleep state, I just have the power options set to turn off the monitor after 15 minutes of inactivity. Sleep and hibernate are disabled on the system and always have been, expressly for the purpose of allowing iTunes playback via Remote. If I jiggle the mouse and the system turns the monitor back on then I can manually reenable playback, and Remote can connect to iTunes again. I can't find any setting in Preferences that would control this. How do I fix this? Thanks.

I'm so glad someone else is having this problem.  I am in exactly the same situation!
    1. Windows Vista
    2. Upgraded iTunes to 10.5 and upgraded remote with iOS 5
    3. My computer has never been set to sleep, but the monitor turns off after 20 mins.
    4. If the monitor goes to sleep, itunes stops streaming music and Remote can't connect to it
    5. If I change my monitor off time to 1 hour, then in 1 hour itunes will stop streaming - it is ABSOLUTELY connected to the monitor sleeping.  Almost like iTunes can't connect to the network the the monitor is off.
Please help!  I have been using remote for a year and this didn't happen until I upgraded to iTunes 10.5.

  • Apple TV suddenly stopped playing any video

Yesterady my apple tv stopped playing any type of video. This includes movies I've purchased on iTunes, previews on iTunes, Hulu, Netflix. I click play on the video the spinner pops up and the video *almost* starts and then just cancels itself going back to the previous screen. I've tried:
    1. Restarting ATV
    2. Resetting ATV
    3. Testing network connection on ATV -> all is ok
    4. Restarting my router & ATV
I'm able to go on the internet with other devices so I know I have internet connection. I'm also able to sign into the Apple Network with my ATV so I believe it has internet connection as well.

So we have this ATT provider in common.
Based upon this other discussion --  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5565870?start=0&tstart=0 --   I ran the Netflix video called 'Example Short 23.976' -- though I had to wait about 15 minutes for it to start playing, it eventually did. I have the U-Verse service of 12 MBPS, and speedtest.net confirms that is what I am indeed getting.  But the results showing in Example Short 23.976 should be (and used to be) 5800 kbps; tonight it is 230 kbps, then 500, then 1000, then 2000, then freeze, buffer for a minute, then back down to 230 kbps.
I suggest you run the Netflix video called 'Example Short 23.976' both during prime time hours and at other times during the day, and report back to us with your results.  I have a suspicion this is an ATT problem.

  • Itunes stops playing in middle of song

I have a Mac Mini running Lion and the Mac goes to sleep and stops ITunes from playing. I have reset the sleep mode to never, but that does not solve anything. What is next?

    Hello,
Have you blown the dust out lately?
Get Temperature Monitor to see if it's heat related...
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/12381/temperature-monitor
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts (Users & Groups in later OSX versions)>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • ITunes stops playing for no reason

Every once in a while, iTunes will randomly stop playing in midsong. I'm usually using a different application (Safari, MS Word, etc) when it happens. When I go back to iTunes the "play" key is on pause, as if I were to have paused the song myself. When I press play again, it's all good.
This used to happen with my 5 year old Powerbook G4 and I figured it was just the computer slowly decaying, but the same thing happens in my brand new Macbook, so I'm assuming it may be a software glitch. I'm running 7.5 right now. It's not a huge inconvenience, but I know it's not supposed to be happening.
    Anyone else have this problem?

You could try deleting the plist:
    1.) Quit iTunes
2.) Go to Home > Library > Preferences and delete a file called com.apple.itunes.plist
    3.) Restart or logout/login comp
4.) Open iTunes and try again
Also try in a new user. That'll narrow it down to an issue with your account or something more system-wide.

  • After being open for a while (with several tabs) Firefox becomes generally unresponsive and stops playing sound - videos will still play, but no sound.

This problem has only begun happening recently. I commonly keep my Firefox open overnight with websites like rainymood.com or grooveshark.com playing, as well as several other tabs including but not limited to Facebook, Reddit, and YouTube. Sometimes, after several hours/days of not restarting Firefox or my computer, Firefox begins to become unresponsive - that is to say, pages take a long time to load, opening new tabs is difficult for the browser, and videos will take up to 30 seconds to begin playing. In addition to this, sound will stop playing; if I begin a YouTube video, after the initial period of excessive loading, the video will play, but without any audio. Also, websites such as rainymood.com and grooveshark, even Facebook, will stop making sound.
Note that this is different from a flash plugin crash - when flash crashes, both audio and video become inaccessible and a simple refresh or restart of Firefox will solve the problem. But what is happening here is different; if I refresh the tab, nothing changes, and even if I restart Firefox, it opens again the same way until I restart my computer completely.
Also of note: I have had, in the past, this same thing happen but rainymood.com continued playing, however no other tabs would make sound. The problem is sporadic and I'm not sure where to begin. Also, sometimes this is only a Firefox-specific problem, meaning other programs on my computer can make sounds, but sometimes this problem makes my entire computer stop making sounds, except for Ventrilo, which works but is also unresponsive at first.

You can also try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
