I keep getting the error 306 cannot connect to the iTunes Network when downloading songs on iTunes. I've tried all the troubleshooting steps from the forums and my technical issues are still unresolved. I have Windows 7. Please help!!

iTunes Store loads partially or returns "Error 306" or "Error 10054"
Proxies, parental control settings and software, security or filtering software, or a bad iTunes Store cache can cause this.
To address proxies, Remove Internet Options proxy settings  ( http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1490 ) and connect to the Internet without a proxy.
    To reset iTunes Store cache:
In iTunes, choose iTunes > Preferences (Mac) or Edit > Preferences (PC).
    Click the Advanced tab.
    Click the "Reset cache" button.
Click OK and see if the issue is resolved.
    Adjust Parental Controls in iTunes:
    Open iTunes.
    Access iTunes preferences:
On a Mac: From the iTunes menu, choose Preferences.
On a Windows PC: From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
    Click the Parental Controls tab.
    Remove restrictions on Parental Controls.
For more information on parental controls or content filtering software, see iTunes 10.5 for Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store.

Okay, you need to contact support definitely about what's going on. Here is a form that will send an e-mail into support for you:

As far as the prices, the difference is likely the laptop version is the SD version and the iPad one is available in HD. That's the only reason you'll see a price difference. It has nothing to do with the device with movies/movie rentals. Apps yes, these no.

  • Error message in iTunes app when downloading movies

I have this error in the iTunes app that whenever I try and restart a download it seems to not download the file properly and gives me the wrong amount of time it will take to download the movie to my phone and then fails to download the movies saying, "Download error. Tap to retry". I have tried "tapping to retry" several times and over and over again I get the same error every time I "tap to retry". It's stopping me downloading any movies now and now these files are stuck on my phone partially downloaded and unable to be finished, it's like their stuck in the ether of suspended animation and there isn't much I can do because I can't remove these partially downloaded movies off my phone, even when I connect my phone to iTunes for windows 7 they don't show up as existing on the phone, it is as if I never downloaded them in the first place and I can't download these movies from the desktop either because the "buy/rent" buttons are shaded out stopping me downloading these movies. As you can see I am stuck in a bit of a quandry.

My computer was unauthorized to view/hear anything purchased from iTunes. I was able to fix the problem. Thanks!

  • Podcasts Just Stop When Downloading

I've tried to work around this by downloading one podcast at a time. This has not helped at all. I'm using a 3 Mbps connection and I can download from other sites on the internet at 390KBps. The podcast will be downloading at a high rate of speed and suddenly it just stops. Its been like this for 3 weeks. If I try downloading the file again it starts from the beginning but will eventually stop before it gets to the end of the download. If I keep trying 99% of the time the download will freeze up. I have the latest version of itunes, 6.0.1.3. I've formated my hard drive and reinstalled an earlier version of itunes, ver. 4.9 but the same thing happens with this version as well.
Does anybody know how to fix this problem?

I noticed that when I used Odeo's downloader, a seperate program from itunes it downloaded podcasts without any problem.
However, when I removed the downloader and switched to the alternate method of downloading from Odeo, using the intergrated itune option, the podcasts now stop ownloading before its completed. Since its using the same sources as before then it seems that something is blocking the download after it starts. So the problem exists with itunes.
Is itunes stoping the download itself or is something stoping itunes from downloading? Heres the thing. When I was using version 4.9 and version 5 I had no problem. Then the video ipod came out and this is when I started having this problem. I was using version 5 at that point and I thought that maybe I should be using version 6. Maybe I needed to have that but that didn't work either. So I formated the computer. With nothing else on the computer and the windows firewall switched off. I installed itunes ver 4.9 from my original installation cd and tried to download podcasts. The pocasts were stoping during the download. 4.9 didn't have this problem before.
So the issue is not the version of itunes but itunes itself. The sources work fine in other programs like Odeo and Doppler. Some people who are using the same program as me are not having any problems at all. So why is it happing to selected users consistently who previously not having this problem. I have not modified the computer or equipment. itunes 4.9 used to work great but now doesn't work.
This has been going on for about a month now and i'm pi__ed off. I'm blaming Apple. Many of there customers are having this problem and thay have said and done NOTHING.

  • Itunes stopped when loading.

I start Itunes and it would display a message "Itunes has stopped working.  Windows is checking for a solution to the problem"  and then you would have to click close.  I started I tunes in safe mode and it works.  I followed the instructions and reinstalled Itunes and same problem.  I found something by accident.  When I tunes is loading and you have your playlist showing, I right clicked on Genius to get the menu items popup.  I then click on Store on the right side of the window and itunes continues to work properly.  I repeated this process several times and get the same results.  Itunes stops working without doing the little routine and works when I repeat the routine.  Why does itunes behave this way?  What am I interupting that makes Itunes work when I right  click on the Genius?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • TS3694 itunes errors when downloading to update iphone

itunes starts to download 6.0.1 to update iphone4 but errors b4 done

I had this same problem and solved it when I realized that the software upgrade download was about 600MB, but I had less free space available on the iPhone.
So I deleted some large music files to make space available, then started the upgrade again and it worked fine.
One caveat: since I had "Automatically fill free space with songs" checked in iTunes, under the iPhone "Music" tab, simply deleting songs from the iPhone's playlist did not clear up the space.  Other songs got loaded to fill up the space.  I had to uncheck "Automatically fill free space with songs" as well as delete songs in order to free up the space.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cant download itunes 10 when downloading gives a threat detected error

Does anyone know how to download itunes. Got the new iphone 4 and cant even use my phone because itunes will not download.

Try just temparly disableing your Firewall and Anti-virus

    Good luck

  • ITunes error when downloading

Ok... I downloaded a song from iTunes and while downloading I got a "error must shut down iTunes" so I close iTunes and open it back up and the song I was charged for is no where to be found. So I downloaded another song and it shows up but the first won't. Where is the song that i was charged???

Ya report this to Apple, I'm having the same issue. Itunes 64 9.2.1
By any chance, are you using Windows 7 (64bit)??
Some songs download, but others (most) crash iTunes during purchase. Play around with itunes and try to download "free songs" and see if they stick.
I wish we can find out if this effects more users on Windows 7 (32 and/or 64)

  • Itunes Stop When It Gets to Videos in My Library. HELP PLEASE.

    Hi all,
This is my first time posting a message on this board. I have a problem and I was wondering if you all would be able to help me with it. Thank you beforehand.
I have Itunes 7 (the newest version of itunes)I tried clicking in one song expecting itunes to then play all of the songs following the song that I clicked to automatically play and it does so UNTIL it gets to a video (ANY/ALL videos) in my library and it just stops. It does not skip the video and go on to the next audio song or anything. It just stops playing.
I then tried to click the reversing arrows on the botton of itunes (to repeat playlist) and that did not help. The same problem described above happened.
I then came on itunes and read a post about itunes stopping at the end of songs. Although it was not precise to my problem of itunes stopping once it gets to "a video" in my library while on continous play mode, I looked at it anyways, and there was a suggestion to turn off "crossfade." I tried that and it did not work. The same problem described above continued to happen.
Can anyone help? Again, THANK YOU ALL.

Sorry no, I don't use Windows and I don't do direct support.
For Mac & Windows, you can use the free MPEG Streamclip to convert video in the Apple supported format.
    http://www.squared5.com
After that import convert file to computer iTunes.
Select video in iTunes with your device connected, click Sync button.

  • ITunes 8: When downloading album artwork for making thumbnails, it quits?

I just installed iTunes 8, and I tried opening it. It then starts to download the album artwork thumbnails, then all of a sudden a message shows saying,
"iTunes has stopped working, Windows is trying to blablabla.."
Then it forces you to closes the program. I tried pressing cancel before the message pops-up, but when I try to scroll down, it forces me to quit. Any fixes?

If iTunes 8.0 is crashing or freezing while creating artwork thumbnails, you may have a file containing corrupt artwork in your library. The steps to identify that file are somewhat complex and will involve moving and deleting some files, so only attempt them if you are pretty comfortable with performing those tasks.
When you first open iTunes 8, iTunes scans through your album artwork to build a thumbnail cache. You can disable this scan by opening iTunes in Safe Mode.
To open iTunes in Safe Mode:
Mac: Hold down the Command and Option keys while opening iTunes
Windows: Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys while opening iTunes
If you open iTunes in Safe Mode, iTunes will only cache artwork from the album covers that are visible in the iTunes window. So you can view your library in grid view, and scroll down one row at a time. You will see iTunes generating the thumbnails for each of your albums as you scroll down. This may allow you to see which album is being processed by iTunes when the application crashes or hangs. Once you have an idea which files are causing the issue, locate the folder containing the files themselves in Finder or Windows Explorer, create a zip archive of the album, and delete the files themselves:
To create a Zip archive of the album
Mac: Right-click the folder in Finder that contains the album tracks and choose Compress <folder name>
Windows: Right-click the folder in Windows Explorer that contains the album tracks and choose Send to Compressed Zipped folder
After you have created a zip archive backup of the affected files, and deleted the originals, open iTunes normally (not in safe mode). Scroll back down to where you were when the crash occurred. If you got the right files, iTunes should just skip over that album and keep rendering thumbnails without crashing or hanging. If iTunes hangs or crashes right after the album that you thought was causing the issue, it may have actually been that next album, so repeat the zip and delete steps until you have found the problematic album.
If you identify the album that contains the file that causes the problem, we would be interested in getting a copy of the files to try to analyze the issue further. Please email me <[email protected]> and I will tell you how to send in the affected files for analysis.

  • ITunes crashes when downloading a new song.

When I buy a new song on iTunes, and it is being downloaded it crashes my iTunes. It doesn't download, and I have to buy it some else. Does anyone else has this problem?

Yep, same here. Strange thing, the free stuff downloads fine, but god forbid I download a $1.29 song. I select song, press buy and all is well until the processing and I tunes stops responding and windows 7 pro 64 brings up a box with something about the program has stopped responding.
I'm forced to restart iTunes. Once back in, the song I had just purchased is nowhere to be found. Not in library, not in purchases, nothing.
I check my account purchase history, and sure enough, I'm charged.
This is with iTunes 64 9.2.1.
    Windows 7 pro 64bit
I perform an iTunes diagnostic and the only thing that was an issue is “iTunes helper” was not running
How do we diagnostic this without paying $$$ for every failed download???? I wonder if the free songs are on some different server.....
P.S Some songs need to be purchased twice before they stick, but right now, I'm playing Russian roulette with my purchase downloads.

  • Computer stopped when downloading, Can't download my purchases. PLEASE HELP

Having purchased some songs and videos the computer stopped and I had to restart. Checking my purchase history tells me I have 54 songs to be downloaded, when I try to download them it says itunes store is unavailable, any purchases I have made since download no problem, I am left with these songs which I am unable to do anything with. Does anyone know what to do? How do download these.

Doesn't any any one at Apple care that it has been at least 5 days and no one has replied to the support email that I sent about the download issue that I have? Especially when one has almost 60 things to download. No one even replies in this forum. No one cares about the customer.
