ITunes stopped working in Vista Ultimate
My iTunes stopped working, won't even start up in Windows Vista Ultimate. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling. Nothing works. iTunes 7.3 is dead in the water. Any assistance for this problem? (Besides switching to a Mac?)
As I posted in many other people's suffering posts....
in a nutshell....
Sorry, you and I and a small minority of others have Windows Vista and it simply will NOT work with iTunes, any version of 7.x.
Apple doesn't seem to care as we aren't a big enough group to care about.
After several weeks of this nonsense, today I spent most of the afternoon researching other music manager software that will also synch with my iPod.
It looks like I will be heading that way as this is too ridicious that someone can't deal with this and help us.

Itunes stops working with vista
Has anyone had problems with itunes stopping working with windows vista? I have tried all the upgrades but itunes still stops working when playing songs and videos.
Tizzy79,
Your computer is blue screening. This is frequently caused by problems with driver conflicts or a computer virus. Make sure you've scanned your computer for viruses and spyware.
If that doesn't help, let's capture a minidump of the crash and send it to the Apple engineers to analyze.
To set up your machine to capture a minidump, right click on "My Computer", select "Properties". In the dialog that comes up, select "Advanced System Settings" on the left. In the dialog that comes up, select the "Advanced" tab, select the "Startup and Recovery" Settings button, select "small memory dump" from the popup. When it crashes, look for the MiniDump file. It's usually in the folder "C:\WINDOWS\Minidump" and is called something like Mini<number>-<number>.dmp.
You need to send that file to our buddy Roy, [email protected] Make sure that you include:
(1) the mini dump file.
(2) the link to this thread.
(3) a one line description of your problem, i.e. "iTunes Blue Screens Vista".
(4) the username that you're using here in the discussion boards.
Roy is getting a little swamped with messages and needs to make sure he gets all the information. And if he doesn't get that information, the message is just going to get dropped on the floor. -

"Itunes has stopped working" Windows Vista
Hello, my itunes stopped working about a week ago, and I haven't had the time to research it until now.
Itunes hasnt been able to start since then and I am just getting "Itunes has stopped working"
I've tried reinstalling itunes and quicktime a few times but that hasn't worked either.
I've also tried to delete any itunes and quicktime files that i can but I am not too good with that either..
I am assuming there is something more to it that I can't figure out so I decided to try here.
Below is my problem report:

ITunes stops working when I use ibooks or itunesu. I have just upgraded to itunes 11.1.1. I use windows 7 64 bit.
Hi jsi3918,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.

I have a 3GS iphone. It was jailbroken and working alright. But I was not able to upgrade its IOS frrom 4.0.1 to higher versions and many applicatopns were not compatible with this version of the IOS. So I decided to do a factory unlocking. From an website, based in Mumbai, I unlocked it. When I check now in different websites from my IMEI number, my iphone is unlocked. So I became happy that I can now upgrade my iphone. But the events turned to be different. When I connected to iTunes, iTunes stopped working and my iphone did not appear in the iTunes. I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes after cleaning previous registry of all relatedd components like Quicktime, Bejour,Apple software updates and mobile softwares. I also used msconfig to troubleshoot conflicts in software of Windows 7 ultimate but still my iTunes is not working, when I connect the iphone. If I do not connect the iphone, iTunes is working alright. Can any friend give me some advice how to proceed. I do not like comments like Jailbreaking is illegal and should not have been done. Please advice me what should I do right now. Thanking you all and expecting some valuable suggestions from this expert community.
There are multiple reasons that lead to issue. You should read the troubleshooting guide to get the right solution to solve the issue: iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch not recognized in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support

I was using my Dell PC (Windows Vista) on the 24th January 2014 and I was lstening to music via my Itunes programme. a window appeared alerting me to the need to take the new 11.1.4.62 Itunes update.
I should have stopped Itunes and then installed the updated programme but absentmindely I cliked on the upload icon.
Everything carried on as normal unitl around 70% the way through the upgrade when Itunes stopped working.
An error message appeared 'Itunes Helper exe - Unable to locate component. This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.d11 was not found.' i was advised to uninstall and reinstall Itunes as that may fix the problem.
It didn't!
I then researched this issue on Google and was advised that if the reinstall of Itunes didn't resolve the issue I should download and install Microsoft Visual C++2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Pack and run it. Did this and reinstalled Itunes again. Still doesn't work.
Where next?Yes I have had the same problem today. Wish I had`t bothered to carry out update as everything was ok before.

Window 7 64 bitHello davewood26,

iTunes stops working. The message says iTunes has stopped working due a problem to the program. How do I find a solution?
Hey there Warrior41,
it sounds like you are unable to use iTunes because it either will not launch without this error, or you get the error when you are using it. Sorry to hear about that, that can be pretty aggravating. I would use the troubleshooting in the following article to help resolve the issue, named:
iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1717
Start with opening iTunes in Safe Mode and see if the issue persists. If not, the article will help you troubleshoot for 3rd party plugins that may be causing it:
Start iTunes in Safe Mode
Open iTunes in Safe Mode to isolate any interference from plug-ins or scripts not manufactured by Apple.
Hold down Shift–Control while opening iTunes. You should see a dialog that says "iTunes is running in safe mode" before iTunes finishes starting up.
Click Continue.
See if the issue you're experiencing persists in Safe Mode.
If you have the same issue while iTunes is in Safe Mode, proceed to the "Create a new user account" section. If you don't experience the same issue, follow these steps to remove third-party plug-ins.
If that doesn't resolve the issue there are additional steps in the article if needed.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Itunes stopped working error comes up as soon as it reads first track while importing CD and needs to close program (APPCRASH). I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes several times - also ran CD diagnostics in iTunes and looks OK. I'm on Vista Home Premium Edition. If it will help I saved the CD Diagnostics from ITunes and the Windows APPCRASH info. I've spend several hours trying to figure this out. Any ideas?
Problem solved! I had my pc plugged into a port replicator to use a bigger screen, etc. When I unplugged it and tried to import the CDs it worked fine. Not sure why I got the error but whenever I get unexpected errors in the future, I will take it off the replicator to eliminate that possibility. Thanks to all who reviewed.

Itunes stops working when syncing
I am changing from AT&T to Verizon iPhone 4S and everytime I plug either phone to sync with iTunes, iTunes stops working and shuts down.
I have also had a similar problems with iTunes and Vista. I believe it is because iTunes 7 isn't completely compatible with Windows Vista; it only works with XP or 2000. I finally got my iPod to sync after a couple of tries and restarting the computer, but it still usually crashes. I think we'll have to wait until Apple makes a new version of iTunes that is compatible with Vista!

I have home made videos and when I click to open Itunes stops working and box says"Itunes has stopped working" and says "Windows is checking for a solution to the problem" turns out Windows doesn't respond and I have to close the program..Tried it again and again with same result..Nicolino
Specs ver 11.1.5.5 win 7 pro 64 bitHello nicolini,
It sounds like iTunes quits unexpectedly everytime you try to open it so you can no longer use it. I recommend the troubleshooting steps in the following article to help you troubleshoot the issue here, named:
iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues
Start with these steps to open iTunes in Safe Mode to see if a 3rd party app may be interfering with iTunes. There is additional troubleshooting to be done in the article if this is not the case:
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
All the very best,
