ITunes stops for unknow reason

Question

I am using iTunes to play background music via a radio station. I am not sure why, but very often the music stops and I see the message "rebuffering" and then it starts again. Worse, sometimes iTunes just stop playing for good and you have to manually restart it.

Rebuffering messages usually come from congestion in the Internet between your system and the streaming server or problems in the server itself. You can try increasing the size of the streaming buffer in iTunes Advanced preferences. Sometimes that helps.
As to why it just stops, that's harder to say. It may be hitting a long delay and just timing out. Or the station may kick users off from time to time; some do, though not too many.
If you only listen to one station most of the time, you might try a different station and see if the same things happen when using a different source.
