ITunes stops mid song

All software is up to date and all old and recent songs do the same thing play for a bit, then it stops/freezes then plays again. Does this or every track. WHY?!?

I got a similar problem.
There are some songs that will play perfectly on Winamp or WMP, but when on iTunes, it will play until an specific point and then change to the next song like if the song had just ended, but it hasn't. It's on mid-song.

I received the 'secure network connection could not be established' error message several times during a recent audio download.  I was able to eventually complete all of the downloads by going to the 'available downloads' area.  However, when I played back the downloaded songs, several of them ended mid-song although the complete songs appear to have successfully downloaded judging by the 'Time' (minutes) count for each song.  (Interestingly enough, the majority of the songs that stopped mid-song during playback were marked as having high popularity in the iTunes store.)
I've had this issue with previous downloads too.  I've been charged for and have paid for these songs, but didn't receive the full product in some cases.  It's very frustrating that I'm not able to enjoy these songs in their entirety.
Have other folks had this issue?  What is the resolution?

Something may have gone wrong with the index of the Music playlist. Download the current iTunes Free Single of the Week. I know it sounds odd, but it should fix the problem.
If that doesn't work close iTunes and delete the hidden file sentinel from inside the main iTunes folder, then start iTunes again. It should run a consistency check when it starts up.

  • HT1725 I have downloaded an album from itunes, and one or two of the songs play in full but most of them stop mid song, even though it said 'download complete'. How do I fix this?

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the entries, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.
(Not entirely sure what happens after you click that link, but fingers crossed it should be relatively straightforward.)

  • ITunes stops/starts songs every time certain keys are pressed, whether application is open/active or not.

iTunes stops/starts songs whenever ENTER,"/" [num pad] or DELETE is pressed, whether the application is open/active or not.  Updated to most recent version a few days ago, though this began seemingly spontaneously today, possibly tied to an iPad sync although I really have no idea how it could have started.

    Hello Brian,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with iTunes.
I recommend reviewing the following article to see if any third-party plug-ins could be causing the problem:

  • Siri keeps activating and podcast & music app stop mid song

was just wondering if this is a known issue or only something i am experiencing, it appears to have started within the last week, siri will activate asking for a question then will immediate make the tone when you do not submit anything or cancel.  this seems to happen only when i am using the podcast or music app, which both also randomly stop mid song.  it will occasionally jump ahead to the next track, but this is much more rare.  it also seems to occur a lot more regularly when i am walking. any ideas?

  • ITune stops mid-album

    Hello all,
In November, I purchased a new iPhone 4 and while setting it up, I downloaded iTune 10.5.  Ever since then, iTunes stops after a certain period of time has elapsed since stepping away from the computer.  This is often about half way through an album if I press play and walk away.  It always stops at the end of a song, not in the middle, and will restart when I move the mouse.  It doesn't seem to be connected to the screen saver coming on, or the monitor going into sleep mode.
My computer is a Dell Inspiron running Windows Vista.  I'm running iTunes 10.5.3.3 now, having updated it twice since then.  I also have an airport connected to my stereo to play music wirelessly from the computer.  Everything else is working fine.
Has anyone else experienced this?  Do you have any suggestions?  It seems like a small thing, but has become quite frustrating.
    Thanks in advance,
    jdjones

    (Bump.)  Anybody?

  • ITunes stops playing songs/podcasts/etc whenever I move my mouse.

I have no idea why this happens but its really aggrivating.

when I move my mouse Itunes stops playing music. Sometimes this happens immediatly and sometime it take 10 to 15 sec.
At various stages over the years, mouse-related iTunes trouble has been associated with driver conflicts. So it might be worth following up on that possibility.
Head to the drivers and downloads page for your model of PC, and check to make sure you're not behind on any chipset and input-device-related driver updates. (And while there, just in case, also check to make sure your BIOS, sound-card/integrated audio, and video-card/display-adaptors are up to date.)
If you're behind on anything, and you update, does that help with the mouse-related iTunes issues?

  • I have songs on iTunes that seem to have corrupted files with time.  The songs play for a while then suddenly stop mid-song and iTunes goes to the next song.  On my iPod the playback pauses for a few seconds then picks up again.

Some of these songs were purchased via iTunes.  I would like to download them again but the Download buttons are grayed out when I bring up the purchased songs listing.  Any help appreciated.  Is there any way to quickly get a file integrity check done?

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting those incomplete tracks from your iTunes library and redownload them (if they are still in your country's store) via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes. Or delete them and copy them back (File > Add To Library) from your backup of your downloads/library.

  • Itunes Delaying Mid-Song

    Hey guys, I'm new here,
I've been looking up previously related forum topics and doing some research but can't find a solution to my problem.
I have a ridiculously fast computer (4 gigs ram, 450 gig HD) using window 7 and currently latest update of itunes, and I'm experiencing something quite odd.
At random times throughout playback of a song, (completely random it seems, happens sometimes not at all in one day and happens sometimes 3 times in 1 song) the song will simply just stop playing for a second or two, then start playing again. Nothing but a delay.
FYI, I use an external soundcard, an audio 2 DJ interface whitch has my speakers plugged in.
Has this happened before? Any ideas?
    thanks

Thanks Roger! Problem is, I already got 6.01 & there appears to be no update yet! I just hope that this issue is addressed with the next update as I've seena few other posts relating to similar problems!
Maybe I'll try to re-install an older version that was more reliable with the basic task of music playback. After all, thats what we want at the end of the day!

  • Music suddenly stops mid-song

Lately, my iPod nano (gen 4) will stop in the middle of a song. I'll pick it up and advance to the next song and it will happen again. But here are the really odd things: first, only music stops, not pod casts or audio books; and second, so far this has happened only in my car (plugged into the audio port), not when it's plugged into exercise equipment. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be going on? Is the iPod nearing its end date?

You will probably need to quit iTunes when this happens since it may still have an active reference to a file on the iPod.
If you ever get a message telling you a disk is in use when you eject it, it is probably because a file on the disk is still open by an application. The best thing to do in this situation is quitting the programs that you think that used a file on that disk. This may be necessary because an application forgot to close a file.

  • ITunes stopped playing songs in sequence or in shuffle mode. Help!

I'm sure I've done something quite simple and stupid. Can anyone tell me how to restore? Thanks.

Sorry, let me clarify. I'm not shuffling the songs on the iPod, which would be a random order every time. I've created a paylist within iTunes of about 30 CD's, in which I've shuffled those songs in iTunes. So that playlist is the same list of songs everytime, even though I've shuffled them. That list will stay the same until I reshuffle within iTunes.

  • IPod was working fine, then suddenly it began stopping mid song, when the screen goes dark, the music pauses. Why and how do I fix it. I already did a full restore.

I used to be able to leave the music playing and put the screen to sleep by tapping the power button. Now that same tap stops the music. If I dont push the button, the music plays for about a minute and then pauses. If I keep the screen active, the music contiues. I have tried a complete restore. Help anyone?

Is the headphones plug pushed in completely?
Does the headphones you are using have remote control buttons on the cord?  If you try a different set (any type), does this problem still occur?

  • ITunes pausing mid-song

I am a Mac veteran using the latest version of iTunes (6) and operating system (Tiger) but am disappointed to have discovered that my music pauses for a second or two with almost every track played!!!
I used to enjoy using iTunes to play music at parties etc but now feel embarrassed that I'll be let down with the playback quality! What's going on???
Has anyone else noticed this or is there an easy solution that I don't know about!
    All comments welcome!

Thanks Roger! Problem is, I already got 6.01 & there appears to be no update yet! I just hope that this issue is addressed with the next update as I've seena few other posts relating to similar problems!

  • Music just stopped playing, sometimes mid song have tried resync, restore

I have the 4s and about a week ago the music will stop mid song, sometimes a reboot fixed it and it will play again, sometimes I can not get it to play again!  Tried deleting all my music and readding.  Even tried a restore!!!! Help!

Okay - nevermind. I was playing around with it, tried to restore it and it didn't work, then when I was just pressing random things to try and make it work, it started working again. I just pressed the top 5 circles where you can star / rate a song :S and it began working. Weird. Nevermind and thanks anyways.

  • ITunes Plays One Song and then Stops

I have had no problems with my iTunes until this morning. I usually use my arrows to skip to different songs and this morning that option didn’t work. So I found the song I wanted to play, clicked on it, and the song played but as soon as it was done iTunes stops playing songs. It will not go on to the next one. I have made sure that I have the “repeat all” button and the “shuffle” button clicked on like always. I even re-downloaded the program to see if that would work. It’s driving me crazy because I usually turn on my music and just let it run while I work. Now I have to click and manually start a new song every time. I have looked through all the preferences, settings, and help topics but nothing seems to help. If you guys know what to do to fix this please let me know! Thank you SO MUCH in advance!!!

Make sure all songs have a checkmark in front of them.
