Itunes stops running before it's program window opens

I am operating a Windows XP SP1 version of Itunes version 6.0etc and currently Quicktime 7. These programs functioned for a while before the problem presented. Initially there was an error message upon opening itunes that said "Protection Error 34". It wouldn't open but would open if you tried to open itunes a second time. There is a new problem now. When both quicktime and itunes are installed and should be operational, itunes attempts to open but then disappears from the task manager list of processes. Windows hourglass shows up but itunes never opens. No window or error message ever shows up. When i try to access quicktime, the window opens for a split second and then disappears. I've uninstalled and reinstalled both programs several times. If it helps, when i try to run itunes after uninstalling quicktime it gives me a quicktime installation error #-2093 and tells me to install quicktime. When I install quicktime, Itunes attempts to open but then disappears from the task manager list of processes.
Can anyone offer advice on how to fix this? I miss putting new songs on my ipod!!

unfortunately, it sounds like you've got a malware problem that has been going around. let's just doublecheck that.
use the following technique to see if you can identify start-up items that are suppressing itunes:

if you do find any, do they include weird items (typically with four-letter names) that don't return any hits when you Google on the name?

after all the stuff I updated you about, I tried one last time to install....still didn't work...so once again I wiped my system of everything itunes and apple related
well today I was trying to watch a video that required me to get the quicktime plug in, and it too me to a page that was a quicktime install + itunes 7.blah blah blah instead of the other way around
well, don't ask me why, but low and behold

ITunes stops running when trying to play movies

I have several movies loaded into iTunes but when I try to view them on my TV using Apple TV iTunes stops running and wants to close down.
I have played movies before without any issues but this has only happened in the last few days.
Does any one have a solution? The movies by the way haven't been purchased through the iTunes store.. they are my own DVD's

My replacement iphone will not sync all my apps music or phtos, itunes stops running on the computer.

I have the same issue since I loaded one of the ITunes 11 updates - my IPhone 4s is running iOS 8.1 and now I'm running ITunes 12 - with no luck. I update all of the apps and when ITunes gets to Step 6 of 6 and tries to copy the update to my phone, I get an error that ITunes has stopped working and a problem caused the program to stop working correct. I have to close the program.
Is there anyway I can get these updates to work so I don't have to use my data plan to update my apps??

How do I stop extra instances of Firefox program being opened by another page when it loads?
When I log on to a favorite site it loads OK. The site has a number of pages. When I move to the second or third page, a second instance of Firefox automatically starts and loads an advertisement. I can block the site that tries to load the page, but I cannot stop the second instance of Firefox from loading up. So in the end I might have three or four instances of Firefox all going at once.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How do I get an actor to wait for its nested actors to stop running before stopping itself?

I'm developing a series of projects that are based on the Actor Framework and my actor dependency hierarchy is starting to get some depth. One of the issues I'm facing now is making sure that each actor will only stop running (and signal this via a Last Ack to a higher-level actor or via a notification to non-AF code that launches it) once all of its nested actors have stopped running.
For instance, say I have a type of actor that handles communication with a microcontroller over USB - a USB Controller Actor. I might want to have an application-specific actor that launches USB Controller Actor to issue commands to the microcontroller. When shutting down, I want this top-level actor to send a Stop Msg to USB Controller Actor and then wait to receive a Last Ack back before sending a notification within a provided notifier to the non-AF application code, which can then finish shutting down completely.
I'm sure that having actors wait for all nested actors to shutdown before shutting down themselves is an extremely common requirement and I'm confident National Instruments have made it possible to handle that in a simple, elegant manner. I'm just struggling to figure out what that is.
The approaches I've experimented with are:
Creating a pseudo "Stop" message for an actor that won't actually stop it running straight away, but instruct it to stop all nested actors, wait for their Last Acks and then shut itself down by sending Stop Msg to itself. This isn't elegant because it means the client will be forced to fire off these pseudo stop messages instead of Stop Msg to certain actors.
Instantiating an internally-used notifier and overriding Stop Core.vi and Handle Last Ack Core.vi. The idea is that within Stop Core.vi, I send Stop Msg to each of the nested actors and then make it wait indefinitely on the internal notifier. Within Handle Last Ack Core.vi, I make it send a notification using this notifier which allows Stop Core.vi to continue and perform deinitialisation for the top-level actor itself. Figures 1 & 2 below show this approach. I wasn't confident that this would work since it assumed that it was possible for Stop Core.vi to execute and then Handle Last Ack Core.vi to concurrently execute some time after. These assumptions didn't hold and it didn't work. It would have been messy even if it had.
Overriding Stop Core.vi, making it send Stop Msg to each nested actor and then waiting for an arbitrarily long period of time (100ms, 200ms, etc.). What if a nested actor takes only 10ms to shut down? What if takes 400ms?
The figures below show how I implemented the second approach. Ignore the broken object wires - they only appear that way in the snippets.

Me too. Every since I put this so called upgrade on it is so slow. It crashes all the time. It does not work correctly with match. I been waiting three days now for match to work on one song and still nothing. Apple better sort these problems out soon.

Itunes stops running

I am running OS X 10.8.2 on my computer. I play itunes from my computer when I am not using it. It now stops playing when the computer goes back to the login in screen. I assume it goes to the login in screen due to my power saver settings. It used to work even when the login screen came up. Does anyone know how to fix this?

If not mentioned in the articles, make a new user account in Windows and see if iTunes opens. That will tell you if there's something funky in your main account (if the new user works), or if you have a system-wide issue.

How to stop running ant and the program

Hi all,
I have a java system which using ant to start execute external programs (.exe), by calling project.executeTargets(targets);
the exe will take a while to finish, sometimes user want to stop it, but still keep main system running, and fire another project.executeTargets(targets), therefore I can't use system.exit()
Now how can I stop this ant "project", and make sure the exe program also been terminated? By calling project.fireBuildFinished()?
Since the project.executeTargets(targets) will catch RuntimeException, maybe somewhere i can call process.destroy()?

TS3074 itune stopped running after latest updates

My itune failed to work after I installed the latest updates a couple of days ago on I my PC running MS Vista.
Besides error 7 (window error 126) when trying to use itune I also get error messages about MobileMe service not working & MSVCR80.dll not found.
I followed above instructions but the problems has not gone away! I am not a computer expert and I am lost. Help, anyone?

Thank you for the question. Try uninstalling all components of iTunes in the order specified of the article below. These steps must be processed in the order specified or the error will persist. Once this is done attempt to install iTunes again.

Slideshow stops running before completion

I am attempting to run a slideshow for a client but before its completion the slideshow cuts out. I remain in the slideshow module and if I click on the play button again it will run the slide show to its completion. This is a slideshow of 190 photos (all small jpg files) and it gets about half way through when it cuts out. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can't get ios5 downloaded in itunes stops just before end.

hi, ive tried 3 times now. it gets to about 5 mb left, then gets fatal error and goes back to zero kb. so i have used like 2,4 gb now and still it does not want to complete the downloand in itunes.
any advise 4 me please?

What behaviour exactly do you consider to be a programming error? If repeatable and clearly not an intended design choice then a bug report might be in order. I am unable to put the songs of a playlist I created in the order I want. iTunes 11.1.3 has been on my machine since September of last year and this issue began today. I'd lke to believe it's the result of something I have done, but the world is full of things I would like to believe that are not.
"View Options" was set to 'manual' and songs would snap back when I attempted to move them, so - as that was the only preference I could find that applied - I changed it to "Artist Name" and back to manual. Now they don't budge when I attempt to move them.
Ah, when viewing a playlist use the List view and select the heading of the left-most column of numbers. This is the Play Order column. You can drag tracks up and down the list. If you sort on some other column and would like to use this as an initial order which you can then modify, right-click on the playlist name and click Copy to Play Order then select the play order column. Note the triangle should be pointing upwards otherwise the list will play in reverse on your device.

I recently updated to vista service pack 2 and I updated to itunes 10.2.1 and ever since I did that my itunes won't open any more. Itunes starts but before anything loads a window pops up saying that the prograam has encountered a problem and shuts down.

I've tried uninstall/reinstalling it, disabling bonjour and the icuuc40 swap out to the older version but nothing has worked, yesterday I upgraded to 10.2.2 and still nothing. I haven't been able to open itunes for about a month now without it crashing.
