Itunes stops working on launch

After reformatting computer, downloaded, Installed iTunes, and successfully went thru set-up process and everything appeared to be working correctly.  When I went to open again, it stopped working immediately on start up.  I am using recently purchased high-end Sony VAIO Laptop with Windows 8 Pro.  ITunes was previously installed and working fine, so I do not think it equipment or operating system related.  I’ve tried to repair, uninstall and reinstall several times with no change in result.  Below is a snapshot of the even log, immediately after stopped working failure.  I also have latest version of QuickTime and it appears to be working fine.  Can anyone help?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT) as you start iTunes, then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

I have iTunes installed on a PC running Windows 7. I have just installed the latest iTunes update. Now within 15 seconds of starting iTunes I receive an error message: "iTunes has stopped working" and the program closes. I have tried rebooting the PC, and re-downloading the software from Apple without success. any ideas?

I have already copied my photographs to the a library manager but when I tried to reuse iphoto and import the photos back into iphoto, it would not let me.
You can't "copy" your photos to the "library manager", there is just no way to any such thing.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    Regards

  • ITunes stopped working and doesn't respond

My iTunes stopped working all of the sudden. It just will not launch. I read resolution of similar incidents and tried them all including running the chkdsk it's done successfully, but I'm still facing the same problem. I've been to many forums with similar issues. Initially I followed everything on apple support page with no luck, then went for all suggestions in other forums, downloaded cleanup program and deleted all problem files, uninstalled and reinstalled the last version from apple site with no use. It doesn't give me any error message it just does nothing! And 90% when I restart my PC, I get a message saying that itunes is running and needs to be shut down, so I press end now and restart, I've been doing that all day since yesterday with no luck at all. Then when I double click the itunes to open, it says "checking itunes library" but then it stops and nothing happens. I tried plugging my i-touch maybe it will force it to launch, but no response. HELP! Please..

I am having all sorts of problems with 9.1.1.Crashes and not only iTunes but I have to restart all the time.

iTunes stops working.  The message says iTunes has stopped working due a problem to the program.  How do I find a solution?

    Hey there Warrior41,
it sounds like you are unable to use iTunes because it either will not launch without this error, or you get the error when you are using it. Sorry to hear about that, that can be pretty aggravating. I would use the troubleshooting in the following article to help resolve the issue, named:
iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1717
Start with opening iTunes in Safe Mode and see if the issue persists. If not, the article will help you troubleshoot for 3rd party plugins that may be causing it:
    Start iTunes in Safe Mode
Open iTunes in Safe Mode to isolate any interference from plug-ins or scripts not manufactured by Apple.
Hold down Shift–Control while opening iTunes. You should see a dialog that says "iTunes is running in safe mode" before iTunes finishes starting up.
    Click Continue.
See if the issue you're experiencing persists in Safe Mode.
If you have the same issue while iTunes is in Safe Mode, proceed to the "Create a new user account" section. If you don't experience the same issue, follow these steps to remove third-party plug-ins.
If that doesn't resolve the issue there are additional steps in the article if needed.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

    Hello nicolini,
It sounds like iTunes quits unexpectedly everytime you try to open it so you can no longer use it. I recommend the troubleshooting steps in the following article to help you troubleshoot the issue here, named:
iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues
Start with these steps to open iTunes in Safe Mode to see if a 3rd party app may be interfering with iTunes. There is additional troubleshooting to be done in the article if this is not the case:
    Start iTunes in Safe Mode
Open iTunes in Safe Mode to isolate any interference from plug-ins or scripts not manufactured by Apple.
Hold down Shift–Control while opening iTunes. You should see a dialog that says "iTunes is running in safe mode" before iTunes finishes starting up.
