Itunes stops working trying to sync iphone 4

itunes stops working when I try and sync my ipone 4. message says itunes has stopped working and program will close. Unlike other threads I dont even get to a position where I get to 'unclick' photos and videos. I tried uninstalling and re installing itunes with no luck. Im using windows 7. have only had this problem since the new itunes download.

Does anyone have a clue for me? I've had no problems syncing my phone until a couple of days ago. Now when I try to sync it causes iTunes to stop working and gives me a message that the problem will be solved if I get the lastest version of iTunes. Oh wait! I have the lastest version! I even uninstalled iTunes and redownloaded it and installed it... No change...

Same problem here with Win 7 64 bit & iphone 4. It all started a few weeks ago with itunes upgrade 10.4.8. After about 20 hours wasted time, uninstalling and re-insstalling all Apple products in the suggested order as suggested on another forum. Still had the same problem. Will sync fine until I check the "videos" tic box. Itunes stops working in the step of "optimizing photos" (????). If I go back and uncheck "videos" tic box, iphone4 will sync just fine. BUT now all my videos previously on my iphone are on the PC. I would like them back on my phone!
I gave up and went to the Apple Store to visit with a Genius. Took my PC and everything with me. It was not from lack of trying, she did all the same stuff I did and checked everything over. Could not fix it. She said it appeared everything on my PC was set corrrectly and the problem was probably with itunes. Said she always waits a little while when updates come out to make sure there are not bugs before putting them on her stuff. Lesson learned.

It give me a message to update to the lastest version of iTunes,,, I have the lastest version.... Any suggestions would be appreciated...

HT2292 I have a 3GS iphone.It was working alright with iTunes.Recently, it was unlocked. After it was unlocked, the iphone is functioning alright but it is not recognized by iTunes and iTunes stops working, when I connect iphone.Any advice please.

I have a 3GS iphone. It was jailbroken and working alright.But I was not able to upgrade its IOS frrom 4.0.1 to higher versions and many applicatopns were not compatible with this version of the IOS. So I decided to do a factory unlocking. From an website, based in Mumbai, I unlocked it. When I check now in different websites from my IMEI number, my iphone is unlocked. So I became happy that I can now upgrade my iphone. But the events turned to be different.When I connected to iTunes, iTunes stopped working and my iphone did not appear in the iTunes. I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes after cleaning previous registry of all relatedd components like Quicktime, Bejour,Apple software updates and mobile softwares. I also used msconfig to troubleshoot conflicts in software of Windows 7 ultimate but still my iTunes is not working, when I connect the iphone. If I do not connect the iphone, iTunes is working alright. Can any friend give me some advice how to proceed. I do not like comments like Jailbreaking is illegal and should not have been done. Please advice me what should I do right now. Thanking you all and expecting some valuable suggestions from this expert community.

ITunes has stopped working (trying to sync)

I posted this the other day on the iphone 3gs but now that i have the 4 and still same problems, here is my issue.
So i updated iTunes to the latest and updated my 3gs to iOS4, i tried to sync some music and all i get is crash after crash.
I have tried:
1) Uninstalling iTunes and all apple software, reboot, reinstall, reboot.
2) Replacing the 2 .dll's (libeay32.dll, and ssleay32.dll) in the c:\windows\system32 and the syswow64 folder, the dll's did not exist to begin with.
3) Rebooted several times.
4) Checked to make sure i have no podcasts to sync.
5) Called apple support through my appcare overpriced plan.
6) DeAuthorized and Authorized under iTunes>store.
7) Enabled and disabled Genius .
8) Only synced 1 music folder, then 3 successfully then a few more and it then crashes so that's why i think it has something to do with the music. Almost as if it takes a while to complete a sync it kills iTunes.
9) Tried a different USB Cable.
10) Tried a different powered USB hub and directly hoooking it to my computer.
11) Syncing without music (which works) then re-enabling sync of music and it crashes again.
I am running Windows 7 64bit
4 GB Ram

ITunes freezing when trying to sync iPhone 5.

I'm at my tethers end.
Last month I had my iPhone replaced at an Apple store, as the battery on my old phone was draining unusually fast (100% to 0% in 2 hours on standby with nothing open). This replaced iPhone has been slightly tempermental, but I have tried to ignore these little glitches (brightness jumping randomly from 100% to the lowest setting for no reason etc (it's not on auto).
The biggest problem I'm having it trying to sync my phone with iTunes. It will not sync my music, often freezing at particular songs, meaning I would have to restart my entire computer for it to work again. Deleting these songs would work for it to continue syncing, but no sooner would it find another song it did not like, which would play on any other media software and had no problems whatsoever with my old phone. It then decided to start freezing on 'downloading safari safe data', so I took steps for it to stop doing that (advanced on safari etc). Now it keeps freezing on step 5 of 5; waiting for changes to be applied. Frankly I'm absolutely SICK of this, as I'd like to get some music on my phone at some time, and now I can't even make any alterations to my phone.
I've tried..
*Restoring my iPhone ( which went awfully because my backup dissapeared, meaning I had to restore with a months old backup. I triple checked that my backup had worked but when it came to needing it *poof*.
* Checking Winsock providers.
* Converting back to older versions of iTunes.
* Restarting my computer a million and one times.
* Deleting 'problem' songs, but now I can't even reach that stage of syncing.
PLEASE HELP. I'm so frustrated with this. I've always been a loyal customer to Apple but frankly I get sick of always having problems. There's not been one apple phone which has not stopped working within warranty and needed a replacement. When we're paying this much for a phone we expect it to actually WORK.

This problem is quite common, but I have not been able to figure out what causes it. My best bet is that it's a USB issue, and I have found a workaround that makes synchronising possible when all else fails. For the record, I have tried all of the potential solutions on these forums without lasting success. Here's what worked for me.
(Windows 7 32bit, iPhone 4S, iTunes 10.6.1.7)
First of all, make sure you have a good wi-fi signal in the region of the PC you are syncing with. Then -
1) Start iTunes.
2) Connect phone via USB.
3) Left click on phone in iTunes.
4) On the Summary page check "Sync with this phone over Wi Fi"
5) On the phone go to Settings>General>iTunes wi-fi sync
6) Tap on Sync now.
The phone should sync via wi-fi, even though it is connected via USB. It didn't seem any slower to me than syncing via the cable, and more importantly it worked, and the backup went smoothly. I've tried it several times now with no problems.
Also, if you have a lot of apps you need to synchronise or you are re-arranging the app windows using iTunes you can sync in the normal way from the PC if you do it immediately after the wi-fi sync, because iTunes does not run the backup again. It probably won't run two backups within a few minutes of one another.
It's all a bit of a fiddle, and Apple/MS needs to get a fix for it, but if this method works for you at least you have a good backup should you flush your phone down the toilet!

I recently asked for help resolving this issue.
I installed and reinstalled iTunes and Quicktime.
I read every tip or disscusion here that looked relevant but nothing seems to help :/
I have windows xp on my computer.
The main problem is that when I hook the iphone to my PC it starts to sync.. it recognize my device and during step 2 (out of 6) it crashes and I get a message from iTunes saying an error has accourd and it needs to close.. It only happens when I try to sync.
I can't get the music from my PC to my iPhone
I feel lost.. Dunno what else can be done.

I have already copied my photographs to the a library manager but when I tried to reuse iphoto and import the photos back into iphoto, it would not let me.
You can't "copy" your photos to the "library manager", there is just no way to any such thing.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I got my new iPhone 4 today, I am trying to sync my music, photos and such and iTunes constantly stops working. All I can do is shut down the program. I have restarted my computer AND the iPhone bu no such luck. Any help out there?

I just got a new HP Win 7 64x Intel i7 computer, installed the latest 64x iTunes etc and tried to move my iPad over. It will synch everything except for photos and videos; it gives the error "iTunes stopped working, program will close" when I try to synch my photos. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall etc. to no avail, it just keeps doing the same thing.
I went back to my old computer 32x machine and successfully re synched and put my photos back on. This seems to indicate that the problem is either with iTunes compatibility with the version of Win 7 on my HP computer or with the iPad compatibility.
Anyone find the solution to this bug?

Check this thread out -> itunes has stopped working...here are the problem reports:
Try unchecking the Include videos option in iTunes, under Photos. You'll click the iPhone on the left side of iTunes, then click Photos across the top of iTunes to see the option.
If you still want to sync the videos, you can add them to iTunes as movies and then sync them. You may have to right click and convert the videos in iTunes before syncing to the iPad (depending on how the videos were created).

Hi, i have downloaded peppa pig series using itunes, and have tried to sync them to my Ipad Mini and IPhone 5, however it is not working it states "videos from your Itunes libary can not be copied to 'ipad' because they can not be played on this Ipad.

But the iPhone 5 and the iPad mini should support HD videos.
What I would try is downloading the movies directly to your iPad mini or your iPhone. You will want to do this when connected to Wi-Fi, but you can follow these steps in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
