ITunes store access and downloading (including podcasts) is SLOW :(

This has been going on for a week now and it's getting quite frustrating. On my laptop, iTunes has all of a sudden decided that downloads are going to be super slow, to the point where most files are not downloaded and I get a -3259 error of some sort. I am running iTunes 7.5 and Windows XP. I had been using 7.5 for a while until this problem started. My desktop computer is also running XP and 7.5 and I have no problems downloading through iTunes at the usual speed.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes with no success. I even installed a new copy of Itunes and moved the iTunes pref file and the library and xml files and iTunes downloads were still slow. I have not installed or uninstalled any programs recently.
The podcasts downloads are quick, but only if I download them directly from the site hosting the file. If I use iTunes, the downloads are painfully slow and most of the time do not finish!
I have even attempted to plug in the DSL line into my laptop directly and iTunes was still slow with downloads. Also, it takes a couple of minutes to access the homepage of the iTunes store.
I really don't know if there is anything else I can do? This is really annoying since I had to use my other computer to download a TV show and then transfer it to my laptop with a thumb drive. Any ideas, anyone?

I was never able to figure out the cause of my problem, but I was able to resolve it somewhat. I created another user account and iTunes was back to normal. I then just moved my iTunes library file to the new user account (and I spent a few hours getting all the other stuff changed - such as email in Outlook, etc).
So I'm back to normal, so if anyone else has this problem, try a different user account on the same computer.

    Hello there Minigran,
Here is an article outlining how to change the country your Apple ID is set to.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1311
    Change your iTunes Store country
Sign in to the account for the iTunes Store region you'd like to use. Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID: > View Apple ID > Country/Region.
Follow the onscreen process to change your region, agree to the terms and conditions for the region if necessary, and then change your billing information.
    All the very best,

Easy maybe, but a lot of users are used to playing the movies in iTunes on their computers so that is the first place they turn to on the iPad.
    Enjoy the show!

  • ITunes Store freeze while downloading and now permanent problems

I bought an album through the iTunes Store today, and while downloading, iTunes completely froze. Not sure how that freeze was caused, could be that I was using up a little too many system resources with other stuff running in the background.
In any case, the album was only partially downloaded, so when I restarted iTunes I used the "search for available downloads" option to succesfully download the rest of the album, or so I thought. Turns out it did download all songss except for one, and that one doesn't show up anymore when I retry the "available downloads" option.
Strangely, whenever I now select one of the other songs from the same album in my library, iTunes completely freezes! I can only get it working again by stopping the process through taskmanager and restarting. This only occurs when the Genius-bar is shown, so it looks like looking up these songs through the iTunes store is causing a problem somehow. Does anyone have any ideas to
    a) get the missing song from the store and
    b) keep iTunes from crashing??
Is there a way to deinstall and reinstall iTunes without losing my settings, iPhone backups and library? Or can I repair an installed version somehow?
(I have the most recent iTunes version (8.0.1.11), running on WinXP SP3 - oh and it did synch the incomplete album to my iPhone and I can play the songs without problems on that)

Deleting the album, reinstalling iTunes and then re-downloading the album turned out to be the way to fix it.

For those who are getting annoyed, I have found a solution which requires you to create a new apple ID without using credit card information:
    1. Go the app store
    2. Hit cancel when it asks you to sign in (If it doesn't, continue to step 3)
    3. Find a free app and try to download it
    4.  you to sign in option will appear, it will ask you if you want to use existing ID or create a new apple id. SELECT CREATE NEW APPLE ID
    5. Follow the steps and when it gets to the stage it asks you for your card info, Choose 'None'
    6. Full in all you name and address etc... And click next.
    7. Verify your email and Enjoy downloading FREE apps
    8. Say thank you as I do appreciate your love :)

    Restopre from backup
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    Also,
    - If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:

  • Unable to log into itunes store (0x80092013) and update problems

I am having problems logging into the itunes store using itunes 10.6.0.40 in Wndows 7 in the uk  which results in the error message shown below:
'We could not complete your itunes store request.  An unknown error occurred (0x80092013).  There was an error in the itunes store please try again later"
However, I am able to browse the itunes store without any problems (this does not require logging in).
In addition selecting the menu item Help > Check for updates in itunes results in the message "The itunes server could not be contacted.  Please check your internet connection or try again later'
I also have two ipods and an ipad and clicking on the <Check For Update> button on each of them within itunes results in the error message "The ipod update server could not be contacted.  Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connectivity is active or try again later".
In trying to fix the above problems I have tried the following:
    Re-installed itunes
    Ran ipconfig /flushdns
Changed my dns entries to use dynamic dns entries and also tried googles settings (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4)
Put entries in the hosts file for gs.apple.com etc
Reset the winsock using the command netsh winsock reset
Turned Norton smart firewall off completely
Ensured interent settings were set to 'Check for server certificate revocation' was unticked and "SSL 3.0" and "TLS 1.0." were both ticked
General internet connectivity is working fine it is just itunes where the problems are.
I can also log onto the itunes store from the ipad itself without a problem.
I also have a Windows Vista laptop which can connect to the itunes store without a problem and can also run the menu item Help > Check for updates and results in a message saying itunes is the latest version.  This also runs Norton Smart Firewall and is having no problems.  So I am assuming from this that my setup is not at fault and it is not an isp issue.
I have also noticed that a number of other people are reporting problems logging into the itunes store and also error 0x80092013.
The results of an itunes diagnostic test (Help > Run Diagnostics) are shown below (this shows that the itunes store can be browsed but attempts at prurchasing etc cannot be completed)

I have spoken directly with Apple over the last couple of hours.  They are aware of the problem and are going to ask their engineering department to investigate.  It is perhaps not a big priority at the moment as they say they only have 30 confirmed reports of the issue worldwide.
Is it possible that there are other people who are having the same problem and are watching the forums waiting for answers?  If so, please report the problem.  This is the only way for Apple to understand the scale of the problem (if indeed it is a big problem) and to be able to escalate the issue and allocate suitable resources.  The issue we are seeing is:
I mentioned what you said about downgrading - I have also contemplated this but I am expecting I will need to run 10.6 for HD media and syncing with the new iPad.  Apple agree downgrading is not an acceptable solution, and there must be a way forward, but if you dont need 10.6 then why not downgrade until the problems are resolved.
My take on the problem is this:
The error code is the same as a Windows error code that suggests the issue is with accessing the certificate revovation lists (CRL).  iTunes 10.6 is a signed application that needs to access a CRL to determine whether its certificate is still active.   iTunes own diagnostic tool points in the same direction too.  The network connectivity test (see image below) shows the network interface and internet connection are fine.  It is just the secure link that is failing.  It is possible to view the apple store, and download podcasts etc.. but it is not possible to sign into an account or make purchases.
One person has replied to many of these postings suggesting the problem can be fixed by updating DNS settings, which could add weight to this theory.  The person who posted this didnt explain why this worked for them, but if DNS settings have not propogated fully for a new CRL this could be causing problems for some users.  If so this could just fix itself in the coming days, or it may work if you can connect to the internet from a different connection like a public wifi hotspot.
I will post updates if I get anywhere or hear anything back from Apple.

  • ITunes 64-bit runs 32-bit, Secure link to iTunes Store failed, and SyncMapiInterfaceHelper_x64 crashes every time I click 'Info' tab in an iDevice.

    Hello everyone,
There are 3 issues I have, as it reads in the title.
    1) I am running iTunes on a Win7 64-bit ThinkPad, and iTunes shows up as a 32-bit application in the Task Manager, always. I tried even the complete uninstalling (after removing Bonjour, Apple Mobile Service, deleting the folders, etc.) and yet, it shows up the same way.
    2) When I run diagnostics, it says 'Secure link to iTunes Store failed'. I've tried many things from whatever I've read in the forums and nothing seems to be changing that.
    3) Every time I click the 'Info' tab on any iDevice (I tried it with a 3GS and a iPod Touch), I get a 'SyncMapiInterfaceHelper_x64 has stopped working' message thrice. I don't know the significance of thrice but it just does come.
    I hope someone helps.
    Thanks!

That one's normal. On 64-bit systems, iTunes is a mix of 32-bit and 64-bit componentry. The itunes.exe is 32-bit.
    Oh, okay. Thanks!
Could you walk us through what happens when you try to connect to the Store, please?
The issue is when I run diagnostics. I happened to run it last night while updating my 3GS to iOS 6, and there was a 3194, and a search to solve that, led me to running the diagnostic.
I was wondering how it affects me because I haven't faced any issue in downloading or browsing the AppStore. The transcript of the 'Run diagnostics', for networks is as below:

  • ITunes Store Rentals and Time Machine

I tried out an iTunes store rental and it worked just fine, downloaded, watched it, and from my music folder on my hard drive it was deleted after 24 hrs. I took a look in Time machine, and the 1.5 GB file is still on my Time machine backup. I tired to delete it, but my system wouldn't let me. Will my Time machine be eaten up by 1.5 GB files that I can not access if I continue to rent movies?

This is a great question. Here's the thing... Assuming that iTunes Movie Rentals are put into a specific "Rentals" folder (or something along that line), that folder could be excluded from the time machine backups. I have not yet rented a movie from iTunes, so I don't know if it does. Movies that I have ripped from DVDs end up in users/myusername/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Movies. I would assume that movies purchased from iTunes end up there as well, although I have yet to purchase a movie either. Obviously, you would still want to backup your own ripped movies as well as purchased movies, so if the rentals end up in the same "Movies" folder, you might want to exclude the folder anyway and backup the movies manually.
This is something that Apple needs to consider with their implementation of Time Machine. One sure could fill up their backup drive space quickly if they rent a lot of movies.

    Hi, helpme177.
If you are experiencing issues with the iTunes Store failing to launch, there are a couple of things you can try.  The first would be to reset all settings.  Go toSettings > General > Reset > Reset all settings.
If the issue persists, try signing out of all services that require signing into your Apple ID and then signing back in.

  • Cannot acces itunes store account or download anything

I am using iTunes 8. I cannot access my itunes store account settings, download anything at all (even if its free). The same problem is on my ipod touch (2.1 FW). What is going on? Do i need to open up a new port for iTunes 8? I have tried restoring my iPod, re-installing iTunes, and restarting my computer with no success. Help!

I have found out that I can sign out successfully by going to store -> sign out. When I sign back in though iTunes just hangs on "Accessing iTunes Store". I cannot create another account either! This is incredibly annoying. What should i do?

"iTunes could not connect to iphone software update server or is temporarily unavailable". I checked iTunes itunes diagnostics and the secure connection to itunes storo fail is the only thing which doesnt work.. I tried almost everything from here.. Starting from "internet option", changing the hosts file and the firewall thing.. But couldnt get it better.. What shoud i do?
