ITunes store always asks for password

Every time I download anything from the iTunes Store (usually about once per week to update iPhone apps) it asks me for my password even though I mark the checkbox to remember my password for future downloads.
Is there a way to fix this? I have tried deleting the item from the keychain and even creating an entire new keychain.
Thank you.

Andy, same here, for the moment.
These steps (maybe pedantic, but it's what I did):
1) Under the Store menu in iTunes, select Sign Out... (logging out of iTunes store).
2) Under the Store menu in iTunes, select Deauthorize Computer... (deauthorizing your iTunes account - be sure to type username and password properly).
3) Under the Store menu in iTunes, select Authorize Computer... (reauthorizing your iTunes account - be sure to type username and password properly).
4) Under the Store menu in iTunes, select Sign In... (logging back into the iTunes store - be sure to type username and password properly).
Since I've done this, I have not been asked for my password, a little less than 24 hours, but no new shows. So Monday morning will be my big test.

Every time I launch iTunes it always asks for password. I have no pending downloads or app updates. Nothing. There is no downloads plist to delete, no preferences to set - Fed up wth this. Been searching for answer for months. iTunes Store help just gives the runaround.

Good idea, thanks, but no, that didn't solve it. Any other thoughts?

  • ITune store keeps asking for password and will not download

Updated the iTune to the newest edition, 11.0.3.42. Now, when I try to purchase new videos or music, the itune store will repeatedly ask for password, even though I put the password in correctly, the box will pop up again asking for password as if I have not input the password at all. It will not finish the transaction or download. The only way I can purchanse anything is to sign out of iTune store, sign back it and make the purchase. Anyone else experience this problem?

I downloaded and installed iTunes and it seems to have fixed the problem:

I should note that my problem was on Mac.

  • ITunes Music Store always asking for password

I upgraded to iTunes 9, and now every time I open it, it asks for my account password. At first, it would say my password wasn't entered correctly. After several instances of that, I logged out of the store and then back in. It still asks for my password every time now, but the message doesn't indicate anything is wrong. Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas on how to fix it?
    Thanks.

I don't know if this is exactly what's happening to you, but it may be:
Apparently iTunes 9 sets cookies on your computer, and uses Safari to store them. So if you don't have cookies enabled in Safari (and you don't have any old iTunes cookies saved there), you can't sign in to the second level of the store (viewing your account or buying anything). If that's the case, set Safari to accept cookies and it should work (it did for me). It's possible (I've heard) that the latest version (4.0.3) of Safari is needed, but I'm not sure about that.
This is amazing to me - if you have cookies enabled, but SAFARI IS NOT OPEN, iTunes will still put cookies in Safari.
Note that this is on a Mac - on Windows it may use a different browser.

  • Itunes 10.5.3: store keeps asking for password

Just updated iTunes to 10.5.3. Now the iTunes Store keeps asking for my password repeatedly. Is this a known bug?

Have you used more than one AppleID with iTunes on this computer? If you have, you might just need to authorize the computer with the correct account.
If you hvaen't used another AppleID, check out this Apple article -> iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases

  • I changed my apple id, but in apps store when asked for password,  original apple id appears so password doesn't work wit it.  Now can't buy apps.

I changed my apple id, but now in apps store when asked for password, it listed my original apple id which password will not work.  How to get apps store to recognize changed apple id?

f you updated your existing account then try logging out of it on the device by tapping on the id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on it. If you created a new account then any content that you purchased/downloaded via the old account will remain tied to that old account, and only that old account can download updates to its apps.

  • CVS always asks for password

Whenever I contact the CVS server (over at Sourceforge) JDev always asks for the password to the server. Is there a way I can make JDev store this password in some way?
I use the CVS-executable in TortoiseCVS and also use the TortoisePlink executable as the ssh client. Everything works just perfect, it's just really annoying to have to type in my password for every little CVS activity.
    Any solutions?

The user is in the best position to decide if there is a security issue with persisting the password in JDeveloper or not.
I had this problem too. There is obviously a conflict in requirements of security vs usability so really, you should warn the user but let the user decide how to configure it and let him take responsibility.
JDeveloper should interoperate with the user's environment, within reason, and not make him change it.
Note, the HTTP proxy login has a similar problem. Not every time, but often when JDeveloper goes to the www it re-asks for the proxy password.
I dont care if JDeveloper stores either password in the clear in its XML configuration files, as long as it remembers them. It can warn me but it should do it if I tell it to ignore the risk. Then I can get on with my development job rather than having to reconfigure my CVS server or www proxy which are not mine to reconfigure anyway.
    Cheers,
    Simon.

  • Finder always asks for password in Documents

When I try to make a new document, to save something or to edit something in my \Documents folder, Finder always asks for a password.
Saving in another program to the Documents folder isn't possible because the program can't write to the folder and just says ACCESS DENIED (Final Cut Express).
I checked the permissions of the Documents folder and it says User (me) Read and write and everyone (No access). What should I do to make my Documents folder somewhat more accessable?

    mve87 wrote:
Odd, but it worked. Thanks! The folder now behaves as it used to.
But nothing changed in the Permissions, which I think is odd.
Shouldn't Apple make a easier way to do this?
ah, yes, that's a good point, oft discussed on this forum. the problem is that there are a lot of ACLs like those "everyone deny delete" ones that were preventing you from modifying items in Documents that are completely invisible from GUI. as a result you look at the permissions panel and think that everything is normal when in fact there may be a number of ACLs present. this is a terrible design decision by Apple. one can only hope it will be addressed in future versions of OS X.

  • My computer is always asking for passwords

When I turn on my Mac it´s always asking for my iCloud and Keychain password. I don´t know what is happening, even if I introduce my password it will ask me again...

Have you changed your password lately? If so, you should reset your keychain.

  • Cannot setup email account always asking for password

Just got the IPad3 and setting up my email account.  I tried setting it up the same way as my IPhone.  Had  the email account and password entered but when I exit, it gives me a message saying that it may not be able to send or received mail.  I don't know what else is missing from the setup.
When I try to open my email, it always asks for the password, entered the password again but does not open my email.
    Please help.
    Thank you.

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank power On again in the normal way.] It is absolutely/appsolutely safe!

  • HT1277 Can't sync my icloud with mail... always ask for password

Can't sync my icloud with mail... always ask for password

You have been using MobileMe's email settings, which sometimes continue to work for a time after migration but then get turned off. iCloud's mail server settings are different. Strictly speaking Lion 10.7.2 is required for iCloud, and on that Mail is set up automatically.
Snow Leopard cannot access most of iCloud's facilities, however you can set Mail up manually to access your email. The method is described here:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/icloudmail.html
The situation with iCloud and Snow Leopard is described in detail here:

  • ITunes and App Store keep asking for password.

If I log into the Mac App Store or iTunes to purchase an app/song I get prompted for a username and password, as expected; but then it just keeps asking. If I type in a purposly wrong password it will tell me it's wrong, but when I put in the correct one it seems to take it but the dialog just pops up again. This occurs on my MacBook Pro, my iMac and my MacPro. This also happens if I try to 'view account'. Every now and again I will break through this loop and see my account details, but if I try to change something, say my purchase methode, I get 'session timed out'.
I can log into the website just fine, I know the password is good.
    Any ideas?

I'm having a similar problem. When I open iTunes I kept getting a "We're sorry, we cannot complete your request on the Itunes Store at this time. Please try again later." error message. I also couldn't update my apps. I was able to stop the messages by signing out. Unfortuantely, I can't sign in now. I don't get an incorrect password message, though. Instead I get the same error message.
I then I tried updating my apps on my iPod Touch but then I get a "Cannot connect to the iTunes Store" error message.
So, like you I think the problem is on their end. Hopefully, it's just a temporary glitch. I'm going to go my favorite coffee shop and see if I can download there.
    Thanks,
    Brian

  • ICloud always asks for password following email change?

I recently changed my apple email.
But the iCloud on my macbook pro (2009; running Mavericks) will not recognize the new email as being the one for iCloud.
It continuously interrupts what I'm doing and asks for my password.
Any suggestions on how to solve this?
    Cheers.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

  • Always ask for password to purchase songs, how to stop it?

How do I fix it to where it won't ask for my password everytime I buy an item from iTunes? I didn't used to have to do it, but around the time I downloaded the new version of iTunes it has been doing it. Any ideas?

    I'm using one-click.
There is a checkbox for "remember password when purchasing".
I don't know if that shows up for shopping cart purchases.
