ITunes store always unavailable?

We're using the latest version of iTunes with a iPod Touch (2G). Whenever we try to go to *Store > Check For Available Downloads*, it always says that the iTunes store is unavailable. Is this a bug? Obviously the iTunes store is not always unavailable as it claims...

I've had this problem for a couple of weeks now. I can download App Store updates from within iTunes and download purchases on my iPhone over the same network, but when I try to download subscribed TV show episodes or newly purchased music from the iTunes app I get the message saying iTunes is currently unavailable.

  • "Complete my season" is not working for my iTunes store?? I keep getting an error message saying the iTunes store is unavailable over a week or more??

My itunes store is acting kinda funny...
When I click on "complete my seasons" under TV shows I keep getting an error message telling me:
"The itunes store is unavailable at this time" this has been going on for over a week or longer.
Any idea how to fix this or why it keeps telling me the itunes store is unavailable?? I have signed in an out and still I can not see all the seasons of TV shows I have purchased.
    Thanks,
    Max

Hi Allan, thanks for that. I've already set up a log in for my wife and that is all working fine. The problem is that when she logs in and opens iTunes and trys to associate her library with her iTunes account she gets the error message "This computer is already associated with another iTunes account". Whilst this is true, the computer is associated with my iTunes account under my separate log in, which should have nothing to do with hers. If she transfers the association to her account it will lock me out of my content on my log in for 90 days - I'm trying to work out how to associate each of the log in accounts with a separate iTunes account so we can access our music independently of one another without locking each other out. Hope that makes sense!

  • Why is itunes store temporarily unavailable?

Why is itunes store temporarily unavailable?

    Choose one that suits you:
they forgot to pay their electicity bill
someone tripped over the power cable and pulled the plug out
because someone wants to find out how many people don't understand the word temporarily
Since you don't tell us which country you're in, it's hard to say. But if I were to get that message when I tried getting into the Store (which I can at the time I'm writing this), then I would simply try again later. Even though "later" is an unspecified time -  to occur in the future, I would not try after two minutes.
If after 24 hours, the same problem occurs, don't give up.
If after three days, I might wonder if everyone had left the country and not included me.
I'm sure it will be available soon.

  • Why is iTunes store alway temporarily unavailable?

I decided to post my own question; maybe it will help.
I cannot download my old purchases. I continually get a message that the iTunes store is temporarily unavailable.
I have a new laptop. I have enabled itunes in the firewall settings, and checked diagnostics. Like some others I can see posting in here, when I run the itunes diagnostics, it tells me I'm not an admin, which is incorrect. Everything else seems ok, as far as I can tell.
One forum user says this is a known issue, but I don't see any posting to that effect by anyone at Apple.
Does anyone know how to contact Support with iTunes store issues?

  • I can't seem to download anything on my iTunes when I use Check for available downloads. I have preorders that I can't download cos it just says 'iTunes store temporarily unavailable' even tho when I actually go on iTunes itself it work fine..

I've been in contact with Apple support team regarding this issue. I have about 9 items available for download(preorders mostly) but it's not listed under download. When I click on Check for available download, a message with 'iTunes temporarily unavailable' appears but when I go to the iTunes store itself, its working just fine. I've already been charged twice for the same movie which Apple have kindly refunded me for one of them but I still haven't managed to download that movie yet. Apple says its a problem with my computer and given me all sort of ways to rectify the issue and still no hope. Everything else seems to work just fine including the actual iTunes store, wifi syncing and cable syncing etc. Can somebody help me with this if you know how to solve this problem or if you've had the same issue now or before?
I am using the latest Software updates on my iTunes and these 9 items were purchased whilst on this new updates

    Launch iTunes on your computer.
From the menu bar click iTunes > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Click Reset warnings and Reset cache
    Click OK.
    Restart your computer, launch iTunes.
Click Store > Check for Available Downloads...

  • "Cannot connect to iTunes Store" & "iTunes store temporarily unavailable"

    PROBLEM:
Our iPhones, iPad, and iPod Touches all give us "Cannot connect to iTunes Store" message when we try to purchase an App or update Apps using Apple's "App Store" App. When using iTunes on our MAC desktop, which is used to sync all our devices, I'd select "Check for available downloads" from the Store Menu and would recieve the error message "Unable to check for available downloads. The iTunes store is temporarily unavailable. Please check back later." All our devices and software were up to date. We had not upgraded to iCloud yet, allthough I don't think that matters.
    Note:
    - We were able to purchase songs on iTunes and access our iTunes account so we had access to iTunes Store, despite the misleading error messages. We just couldn't get the Apps to download or update.
    - This happened whether I was on my iPhone using our password protected WiFi, the non-password protected WiFi at the local Apple Store, as well as when I turned WiFi off and used 3G.
I spent hours trying every solution offered on these discussion boards as well as an on non-Apple sites to no avail. I went to the local Apple store and after an hour and a half wait had someone at the Genius Bar check it out and say he couldn't fix it. I emailed Apple Help on this website and received a boilerplate reply pointing to 2 KBs that I'd already tried (support.apple.com/kb/TS1368) and (support.apple.com/kb/TS1398). When I replied I tried all that, and still needed help they pointed me to Apple Care. My husband called Apple Care who wouldn't talk to us because supposedly you can only purchase it during a window of time after buying your new device. Our iPad is the youngest at only 4 months old, so I don't know how that can be. Maybe he didn't want to pay for it just yet. I was ready to chuck these into the trash until my husband figured it out.
So... if you're experiencing the same error messages, here was our fix. In hindsight it's so simple I can't believe it.
    SOLUTION:
Went to the MAC desktop that we use to sync and update all our devices. In iTunes in the left hand column under "Store" click Download. The app at the top of the queue was "stuck" (similar to a printer that won't print because of a problem with the first job in the queue). Click the first App in the queue to get it downloading. That's it!
Once they all chug through then you can start updating apps on your devices using the App Store app. Relief!
I hope this helps someone because it was a frustrating experience!

I had this exact issue.  However, I was not even able to "see" the pending downloads when I tried fixing them using the solution above.
In another thread, I saw that someone mentioned an issue with the use of the "&" (ampersand) symbol in your appleID information.  I had recently changed my name and it did include the & symbol in my name (not the appleID itself).  I replaced the ampersand with the word "and" and saved.  I then went to the iTunes store and logged into my account there and made the same change on my billing name.
Voila!  I could now access the 7 pending downloads on my desktop Mac and download them, and all iPhone/iPad/Ipods were again able to download from the app store.
incidentally, I had several support tickets open on this issue and never once did the Apple person even suggest that this might be the issue.

  • Purchased movie hours ago...can't download, iTunes store temp unavailable..

I purchased a movie hours ago and when I select "check for purchases" I get a message:
"unable to check for purchases, iTunes store is temporarily unavailable, please try again later."
Well, its been hours since I purchased it, still can't download it. Why is this happening and what do I do in order to get my movie?
    PLEASE HELP.
    Thank you.

As to posting another message, you need to be patient. Remember, we are all just volunteers here, who have a lot of other things going on other than trying to help people in discussions. The best thing you can do, if you haven't gotten a response in a couple of hours, is to go back to your original question, reply to yourself with something like, "Can someone help?" When you do this, your question moves back to the top of the page & hopefully someone will see it. Merry Christmas!

  • Does iTunes store always have all these glitches or just today

Someone gave me a 25 dollar iTunes card. I am trying to buy and download some songs today but the site keeps having one glitch after another. Is this normal for the iTunes store? What should have been a 20 minute shopping experience has now gone over 2 hours in delays and frustrations. I was able to finally buy 11 songs in my wish list, but then when I added 7 more and even though I still have $9.15 left in credit for these songs that cost $9.03, the website gives the repeated message when I try to purchase them, unable to process transaction at this time. How will I know when it is able to process? Am I supposed to check back once an hour? Or will the iTunes store send me an email when it is able to process transactions again?
If this is the way the store website always behaves, I cannot believe Apple would put its name on it. I hope it is some overdue maintenance they need to do and soon because if I cannot purchase music from their store with the remainder of the giftcard given to me, I am surely not ever going to purchase music from their store with my own money. Apple/iTunes has made a very bad impression with me today for all the problems with this glitchy website.
    Peace and God bless.

When you add a new episode to your feed and upload it, it appears immediately for subscribers because their iTunes application reads the feed directly and the Store is not involved.
However because of the huge number of podcasts in the Store (thousands) the Store caches the feed and checks it for updates periodically. For this reason it usually takes 1-2 days for new episodes to appear in the Store: sometimes it can be less, and occasionally the whole process seems to get stuck and it can take several days.
You podcast is up to date in the Store with an episode posted yesterday; if you've been used to quicker results you've just been lucky; you can't rely on it always happening.

    Hi Lee,
'Users' is not a file but a directory on C: drive, if you haven't moved it elsewhere.  Navigate into the path above with file explorer.  The user name will vary, navigate into your user name, also there is a space in 'Apple Computer'.
So the full path should be:
    'C:\Users/xxx/AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/iTunes/Cookies'
note: remove above quotes and replace xxx with YOUR USER NAME
    Hi Perdiem,
This happened to me too when I upgraded to Windows 8.1, I think it's a problem with the upgrade, just reinstall iTunes and it should fix it.
