ITunes Store Attacked My iMac

For about an hour yesterday my new iMac started crashing, requiring a hard reboot. I quickly realized that this was only happening whenever I used the Mighty Mouse scroll wheel to scroll down the TV Shows page in the U.S. iTunes store.
I was thinking that this might be a bug in iTunes that manifested itself as a result of some problem with the iTunes store. It now appears that the only other people who have had this problem were also using new iMacs. If that's the case, then it would appear to be a bug in iTunes that is only affecting new iMacs when connected to the iTunes store.
Has anyone else in this forum experienced this problem?
(Forum Police please note: I originally posted this message in the iTunes forum but decided to move it here for reasons that should be obvious.)

I am having the same issue with new 24" iMac. Somehow, knowing it's not just me is a relief. I can recreate the issue at will... go into iTunes store, TV shows section, try to browse and lock. It should be noted I am not using Mighty Mouse but a Logitech (not using any Logitech drivers).
Once it locks I can move the mouse around but the machine is completely frozen and remains that way (left it for 1/2 hour one time).
I suppose I could look at it as they're trying to save me money by not allowing me to buy TV shows from iTunes...

do you use the same Apple ID on your iMac, your iPhone and iPad? This is a requirement.

  • Apple TV iTunes Store Purchases to iMac

I am trying to figure out how to get music & videos from the iTunes store
through/using Apple TV onto my iMac & iPod.
    Many thanks.

Sometimes they sync back to iTunes automatically.
If not right click on the AppleTV device icon in iTunes and choose Transfer purchases.

  • Reload Aperture 3.4.1 from the Itunes Store to another iMac.

I bought Aperture 3.4.1 on the Itunes Store and loaded it into my MacBook Pro. How do I download a second copy into my desktop IMac? I see it as a purchased item on my desktop Imac, but no way to download it.

There is no download button to the right.
    What do you see exactly?
Just to be sure, you are signed into the AppStore, right ? Your headline say "iTunes Store".
The App Store Application will show you these buttons in the "Purchases" tab to the right - for example
    As Butch explained:
If you want to install it on your iMac, sign into the App Store on your iMac with the AppleID you used when you bought Aperture.
Click the "Purchases" button. If you do not see Aperture, reload the page ⌘R.
    Install using the "Install" button.
Reasons for Aperture not showing may be a wrong Apple ID or an incompatible System - to download and install Aperture on your iMac you need at least MacOS X 10.7.5 on your iMac.

  • ITunes Store Crashing My iMac?

For about the past hour, whenever I click on the iTunes store link in iTunes and then click the TV Shows link my iMac crashes. It completely locks up and requires a hard restart and it only happens if I am in the iTunes store TV Shows section.
    Anyone else having this problem?

    Same problem:
Only occurs while browsing the Apple Store, in the TV Show Section.
The mouse remains mobile, the computer will still start the screen saver and such, but I can't change to any other applications, and I can't force quit anything (CMD-Apple-ESC doesn't do anything). It requires a hard reboot to restore the computer.
I am not using a Mighty Mouse - so that probably isn't the culprit.
This is a new aluminum iMac - not sure if that's a commonality or not.
I just noticed this today, but I don't browse the apple store every day. Perhaps it's related to a recent iTunes update?

  • Cannot access iTunes store on my iMac ver 10.4.11 ?

    Hi,
Wondering if anyone could help me as I cannot access the iTunes store to download music. I use to be able to do this o.k. but my daughter was accessing the store some time ago and inadvertently downloaded the newer version of iTunes which affected the computer somehow and now I cannot access the store. My library of music previously downloaded is still there o.k.. Any ideas as to why this is happening or how I could install iTunes again such that I will be able to access the store. My iMac is as follows Ver.10.4.11  2.1 GHz Power PC G5 which does not allow me to install the latest version of iTunes . Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
    Ian.

    odd.
the user here had success with iTunes 9.2.1 on his Tiger machine. another example here.
not sure why it don't work for you. are you certain you're on 10.4.11 (just asking ) ? have your firewall running ?
anyhoo, if you can't get it going, you're indeed stuck with having to update to OS X 10.5.x in order to install iTunes 10. You should be able to obtain a Leopard install DVD from Apple - it'll run you about $ 130
    good luck !

  • Why can't I connect to itunes store from my imac?

Can someone help me with staying connected to itunes store? I have a 2 year old imac, updated frequently, and over the past two months I can't connect to itunes store very easily. I get the "network connection was lost. There was an error in the itunes store. Please try again later."
I'll get this several times in a row, then it'll work once in a while. I'm getting the spinning rainbow circle of death more often also and have to force quit itunes. Downloading is usually incredibly slow if it works too. Didn't used to have any trouble. Could have come after one of the recent itunes updates?

I'm having the exact same problem.  Itunes worked perfectly until I did the upgrade. (I guess that's why the old saying always holds true, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" ) I've deleted itunes and reloaded several times and it's always the same issue. Even took down my firewall and virus protection to do the reload with no luck.  I also found an older version of itunes and tried to load that one with no luck.
Some computer Guru please help us!
    Thanks!

if i missed one let me know!
(as i've noted in a previous post, the issue disappears when you start the iMac in safe mode since the coverflow portions of the store are not enabled)

yes. they suggested (as i figured they would) backing up and reinstalling os x.
however! i just downloaded 8.0.2 and was able to scroll all over the place. it's in software update now. go check it out.

  • I can't connect to the itunes store and have some problems with other websites. Some websites load OK. I had the same problem on my iPad and changed the DNS, but don't want to do this on my iMac, anyway, surely I should have my router's DNS?

I can't connect to the iTunes store from my iMac and have problems loading a number of other websites, however some websites load perfectly well. I have had the iTunes store issue on my iPad and resolved it by changing the DNS but surely I should use the DNS for my router. I don't really want to change it for the iMac as I access secure sites with it to internet shop.
Any ideas, I was going to try loading Chrome but can't get it without going through the iTunes store. Anyway, that is treating the symprom not the cause.

Adding Open DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results in terms of speed-up as well as added security, (including anti-phishing and redirects) (Full information about Open DNS is here: http://www.opendns.com/home/nobloat ) and further independent information can be read here:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57338784-263/free-dnscrypt-tool-enhances-ma c-web-security/?tag=mncol;txt
    and here:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1146064/troubleshootdns.html?t=234
Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:

  • 'Itunes could not connect to the itunes store. The network connection was reset. Make sure your network connection is active

I get this message when i try to acces the itunes store from my imac via my home network (wi-fi). i dont have the problem if i use my windows 7 based laptop, i can connect no problem. is there a problem on my imac?

I have just phoned Tiscali and given them a piece of my mind. They initially lied to me and said it was not their problem. However after I mentioned all the messages posted on Apple and Tiscali website about this problem of not being able to connect to the itunes store - they backed down and admitted they were having technical issues. They said their engineers were working on the problem - however they failed to confirm when it would be fixed. I threatened to change ISP provider and Suraj agreed that was the best alternative for me. I said "You said it" and hung up. I am so cross with Tiscali as I have turned my computer upside down over the last 6 weeks trying to solve the problem only to find out it was Tiscali preventing users from logging into Itunes.

  • Itunes store unknown error -50 help needed

i've recently become unable to access the music, podcasts, and ping sections of the itunes store from my imac (3.06 ghz intel core 2 duo).
over the same network, i can access all areas of the itunes store from other devices such as my iphone, ipad, macbook and macbook pro.
when trying to access the music, podcasts or ping sections of the itunes store, i get an error that reads"
'we could not complete your itunes store request. an unknown error occurred (-50). there was an error in the itunes store. please try again later'
i've been thru every, and i mean every, apple article available and have done everything suggested (included advanced and isolated) several times and the error remains.
we have 4 users on this imac. 3 users shared the same itunes account and apple id (mine) until recently. both of my daughters opened their own apple id's and itunes accounts to use gift cards they were given. i've been thru the account info on each account and all seems ok. at the same time, i enabled parental controls. i've since disabled parental controls to try and fix this issue.
    the issue remains.
i've emailed apple itunes store technical support and followed all of their recommendations, which mirrored the online apple articles.
    the issue remains.
this imac is running lion with all software updates including itunes 10.5.3 (3)
can anyone please, please offer any advice or assistance?
    thanks in advance.

Have you tried everything here > iTunes Store: "Error (-50)" when downloading purchased content
If you have anti virus software installed, disable that and turn off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security & Privacy
