ITunes store freezing version 11.1.3

Hi, since updating my iTunes to version 11.1.3, I am totally unable to use the Store.
The program works fine for adding/playing music, but when I select the Store, it totally freezes up. It eventually responds to attempts at selecting store options, but takes between 5-10 minutes each time, and updates the carousel of promoted items at the top in roughly the same length of time.
I am running Windows 7 SP1 on a 64-bit system with 16GB of RAM and an i7-3770K 3.50GHz CPU.
Any help on this issue is greatly appreciated.
In a somewhat unrelated issue, I am also unable to use the about section of iTunes as the scrolling text moves so fast it becomes a blur (I've also noted that this occurs with album names when playing songs).

I had this issue not too long ago as well. iTunes would not go to the store and new podcasts would not download. Then I realized my avg would not update and there was a problem with my internet connection.
So after went help>run diagnostics in iTunes I was told to do a winsock reset. This requires you to go into the command prompt screen. You also need to be an administrator, a full administrator, on your windows computer.
This link shows you how to enable the administrator account for windows 7 and 8:
http://www.wintips.org/enable-administrator-windows-8-windows-7/
And this link tells you how to do a winsock reset:

Hope this helps!

  • Why does the iTunes store freeze ?

My iTunes store freezes on me and all the icons at the bottom of the screen do not respond. How can I fix the problem?

Try closing all inactive apps in the Task Bar
    1. Double-click the Home button to see all Inactive Apps in Task Bar
    2. Hold the Apps down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
    3. Tap the minus sign to close App
    4. Tap center of screen to return to Home Screen
    5. Reset iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 second until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider

  • What happens to songs that could be matched in the iTunes Store? Do they get replaced by the iTunes Store's version?

I haven´t quite understood how iTunes Match works like.
And I am wondering why only 30 out of my 600 songs now have this iCloud symbol next to it.
Anyway, what I expected iTunes Match to be is that it would give me the iTunes Store's versions of all my CD-imported songs...

I should have read further before posting. Sorry. I see reading elsewhere the option was indeed removed. Hope they bring it back. Posted feedback to that end as suggested elsewhere. Thanks.

  • ITunes Store freeze while downloading and now permanent problems

I bought an album through the iTunes Store today, and while downloading, iTunes completely froze. Not sure how that freeze was caused, could be that I was using up a little too many system resources with other stuff running in the background.
In any case, the album was only partially downloaded, so when I restarted iTunes I used the "search for available downloads" option to succesfully download the rest of the album, or so I thought. Turns out it did download all songss except for one, and that one doesn't show up anymore when I retry the "available downloads" option.
Strangely, whenever I now select one of the other songs from the same album in my library, iTunes completely freezes! I can only get it working again by stopping the process through taskmanager and restarting. This only occurs when the Genius-bar is shown, so it looks like looking up these songs through the iTunes store is causing a problem somehow. Does anyone have any ideas to
    a) get the missing song from the store and
    b) keep iTunes from crashing??
Is there a way to deinstall and reinstall iTunes without losing my settings, iPhone backups and library? Or can I repair an installed version somehow?
(I have the most recent iTunes version (8.0.1.11), running on WinXP SP3 - oh and it did synch the incomplete album to my iPhone and I can play the songs without problems on that)

Deleting the album, reinstalling iTunes and then re-downloading the album turned out to be the way to fix it.

  • "Accessing iTunes Store"  freezes?

When I start the current version of iTunes, it eventually tries to access the iTunes store and then freezes iTunes, requiring a Force Quit.
I removed the plist file and the system and iTunes started up normally. No problem.
The next morning, I started iTunes again and the same problem returned. It froze during Acessing iTunes Store.
    Where should I start troubleshooting?
    TIA

I also reset Permissions. No change.

  • Accessing itunes store freezes entire computer

After installing 7.0.1 whenever I try to open itunes it attempts to go directly to the itunes store and immediately freezes my entire computer. Sometimes I can force quit out of itunes, but most of the time I have to shut down the whole system.
Strangly, the itunes store works fine when I open it in my administrative account. I had a number of problems pertaining to the gapless playback in version 7.0.0, so going back to that is not an option.
I have tried reinstalling a number of times, any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

I'm trying to access the iTunes store through a restricted network at uni, thus I'am unable to launch many applications which require network connectivity, would the iTunes store come under this and if so is that the reason it freezes my computer? As I thought that perhaps iTunes is unable to connect fully due to the network restrictions (partial display) therefore gets stuck in a loop without any exit strategy (reason for no error message) and thus crashes.

  • ITunes Store freezes the Application

Hey, I finally got my iTunes working the other day and everything has been going fine for at least a couple weeks. However, out of the blue, a problem has become quite troublesome.
Everytime I attempt to open up the iTunes store, the entire application freezes; absolutely no recognition. All other Apps I'm running work, however, and the moment I close it (from either right clicking and closing or task manager) it shuts off immediately with no problem. There is no error message; simply a frozen iTunes.I would really like to use the store again, so any help would be immensely appreciated!
I run Windows XP and my iTunes version is updated to 9.2 (which didn't solve the problem).

Any ideas at all guys? If I click it while I have music playing, the music continues to play yet the application freezes immediately when it displays the "Accessing Music Store" load bar.
I really need help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

  • HT5030 Since the update why does the itunes store freeze on the ipad 2

Can anyone let me know when this is going to be fixed ok it saves me money buying tunes but its not right.
    Thank you in advance

Start by making sure you have the latest version of iTunes.
Check this Apple article out-> Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
If it's what you're seeing, you can try resetting Winsock as a temporary fix.
    1. To do so, please do the following in an administrator user:
Windows Vista and Windows 7: Right click All Programs and choose Accessories > Command Prompt. Choose to open as an administrator.
Windows XP: Click Start > Run and type in cmd.
    2. Enter the following command:
    netsh winsock reset
    3. Restart the computer and test the issue.
Note:  If the issue returns, third-party software may be reinserting the LSP.

  • My iTunes store freezes my entire computer when I try to use it. How can I sort this out?

When opening my itunes store, my entire computer freezes. In general my itunes works, allowing me to listen to my music still, but as soon as I enter the store my entire laptop freezes and I have to turn my laptop off manually. I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes, but this hasn't remedied the problem. Is there anything that can be done in order for me to use my itunes store again?

    Hi simplytorilove813,
If you are having an issue with your iPhone becoming unresponsive, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • ITunes Store Freezes and Won't Load

I upgraded to Windows 7 recently and ever since i cant get the iTunes store to connect. When i try to search for something in the store it basically just gets stuck on loading forever and then at that point i have to force quit to close iTunes. Can someone help please?

Okay so I did a little more research and i found out that hundreds of people had this problem when windows 7 beta was out, and they had the following solution:
To those of you running windows 7:
Apparently in w7 there are a lot of compatibility errors with security programs and itunes. I have Norton Internet Security 2009, and I added C:\Program Files\iTunes to the auto-protect exclusions, and i haven't had any hang-ups since; no need for hard reboots or anything. iTune's Store doesn't freeze either.
I also read that disabling windows media player network sharing service fixes it, which I ended up doing also, but I'm not sure if that really affected the outcome or not.
You don't have to take my word for it either, here are the two main places where I gathered my information, you can do the same:

For those of you not using windows 7:
From what I read, I'm not sure if the same fix will work for your problem, but I encourage you to explore the site above for more solutions to your problem

  • Accessing Itunes store freezes computer - Windows 8.1

My computer seems to work perfectly in every other scenario, is completely virus free (according to malware bytes) and Itunes is fully updated however as soon as I try to access the Itunes store (tried it on 4 separate occasions) the entire computer freezes and I have to restart. Any solutions or should I just re-install?
Thanks for all the help in advance

  • Downloading from iTunes Store freezes Macbook Pro

Whenever I activate a download from iTunes Store (either restart available downloads or try a new one) my computer freezes. No force-quit, no clicking with cursor. Only thing to do is hard restart. Everything is up-to-date (iTunes 8.0.2, Mac OS X 10.5.6) so I don't see that as the problem.
Anyone with similar problems? More importantly, anyone know the fix?

    The solution with me was:
Disconnect your internet connection open Itunes, wait for a minute and then connect again to internet and you will see that know it doesn't freeze, I know it is a really stupid solution but it works with my computer.
After making everything (verify disk, permissions, etc...) this was the only solution.

  • Itunes Store freezes

When opening Itunes I can sit for hours listening to any song in my library. My problem starts when accessing the "Store". After previewing 4 to 10 songs the "music" suddenly stops. I can click on other songs after that and the 'box' shows them there but they won't respond. Not only that, after accessing the "Store", none of my library songs respond either. Absolutely no music. Just the name of the song... and the non working timer.
I can highlight any song I want. They show in the 'box' but won't play. I've tried to turn Itunes off and then back on but that creates another problem for me...I have no problem turning it off (at least I didn't think I did) and the Windows Task Manager shows it has shut down but somewhere in my 'cyberspace' it's still running. How do I know? Well with no other options I've rebooted my PC to get ITunes to work again. When I do that an error message box comes up and tells me to wait while "ITunes" shuts down.... even though there isn't a trace of it showing anywhere on my desktop other then the ITunes Icon.... BTW... after rebooting the PC ITunes works fine again.... until I go to the "Store",,,, maybe the "Store" is trying to get rid of me.
    Any Advice?....

well i have the same problem... and i relate it to the graphic driver problem with my iMac (late 2007) which causes to freeze the whole machine with iTunes when i switch to coverflow display...
i draw this conclusion because with my MBPro (early 2008) i don't have those problems - and visiting the iTunes store i see that recently they have added a display of newly relased disks in cover flow mode on that page... bummer!
congratulations, Steve... not only that apple does not do anything against that well known and thousand times report bug with the graphics drivers of the iMac... now i can't buy anymore music from iTunes store...
so please ... fix that annoying bug... now that u rendered iTunes Store almost useless for me that issue stops being funny...

  • ITunes store "children version" ?

    Hi
I wanted to know if there is a way to register for iTunes store WITHOUT entering a creditcard numbre or a telnumber...
I mean...I thought this is free anyway...why do we need to give Informations like that anyway?
If it would be possilbe i could also be sure that i'm only downloading free iPhone Apps and stuff like that.
Does someone know how or why it's not possible to register like that?
    thx

If you only want the free iPhone apps, take a look here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is apparently critical. This seems to come and go, or only apply to App Stores in specific countries, so you may not see the option for "None" when asked for a payment type.
Note that this only applies to the App Store; you will not be able to get any of the free content in the iTunes Store without entering in some sort of payment method (credit card, prepaid iTunes card, gift certificate, etc.)
    Regards.
