Itunes Store is running SO SLOW?

i am not receiving an error message. But when I search or click on links, the connection is INCREDIBLY slow, like over 3 minutes of ACCESSING THE STORE to go to the album I selected. All other web pages work fine and I contacted my ISP and the my cable internet is running without problems. Are you doing maintenance on the site? What is the problem?

I purchased two movies yesterday. Normally, I can download an average movie in about 17 minutes. The first one suddenly took four hours and the second one took about 45 minutes. The first one I downloaded on my iMac, the second one on my HP computer running Vista. I originally tried downloading the second one on my iMac as well but it was going to take longer than it would take on my HP.
I'm not sure why this is happening lately with downloads. Perhaps it has something to do with the iPhone apps store being so busy lately.

  • TS1490 i am running Windows Home Server 2011 and iTunes can't seem to connect to the iTunes Store nor run Genius on my Library.  What do I need to do?

I am running Windows Home Server 2011 and have installed iTunes on my dedicated server, attached to my router.  I can't connect to the iTunes Store nor run Genius on the server ONLY (iTunes runs fine on by two other PCs and my Apple TV and I share the libary that resides on the server).  I am running a very current version of iTunes 64 bit.  I have run the connectivity test and it failed.
My guess is that there is some setting in the Server software that i need to change to let iTunes access urls or computers on the internet.  Does anyone have any experience with this software combination?
    Thank you

Some guy managed to get this to work. The following link is for iTunes 10.5 but it should work for the current release.

  • On my 4 yer old imac when I run aps/programs or on the net with my Itunes runnig everything runs super slow, turn off itunes all runs fast again, any ideas

On my 4 year old imac, when I run aps/programs or on the web "with my Itunes runnig" everything runs super slow, when I turn off itunes all runs fast again.  Note I have upated all software.  Any ideas out their.  Thanks William

2gb of RAM is not a lot for keeping too many apps and the OS running comfortably. Have you tried running with as few apps open as possible at any one time - preferably just the one you are currently using, to see if this improves performance?
Also, you could launch Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder and it'll give you an idea of what is going on memory-wise.

  • ITunes U Site Running Very Slow

Our iTunes U site (University of Central Florida) is running very slow today. Who should we contact about looking into this?
    Thanks,

We have been experiencing issues with uploads today. It will sometimes require multiple attempts. The error message that we receive most often is:
"Unknown Error (-4)," which purports itself as an error in the iTunes Store.

  • Why is the iTunes store on iPhone so slow?

It would seem loading a text list with small thumbnail album cover artwork would be relatively quick and easy. Not so. Takes several minutes to navigate to a song I want to buy. That's if it doesn't crash beforehand. Is it just me, or does it seem iTunes is getting worse?

  • Why is iTunes Store so slow?

Over the past week or so, my iTunes store has been so slow it actually never loads.  The libraries work fine.  My internet connection is fine.  I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it (Version 10.4.1.10).  The iTunes diagnostics test indicated everything was fine.  I read in the forums that a couple years ago people had the same problem and it was an update on a virus program that caused the problems.  I use McAffee Virus Scan Plus.  This was not the offending brand from a couple years ago.  Has anybody else had similar issues recently or have a solution?   Thanks

I have the same problem and when I run diagnostics it says unable to connect to a secure server.  If you go into the Help menu and click diagnostics, then uncheck all but the top option and run it; then click next after it runs ... you will get a diagnostics detail that can be copied to your clipboard and posted.  This is what people need to help you.

Ever since downloading iOS6 the App Store is running really slow. Especially on passbook.

  • ITunes Store much slower in iTunes 9

I'm finding that the iTunes Store is very much slower loading then it is in iTunes 8. I'm using an iMac G5 2 GHz, Mac OS 10.4.11, with iTunes 9 , and a G4 iMac 800MHz, Mac OS 10.4.11, with iTunes 8.2.1

I use Safari as my Default Browser. I have my content stored on 1Tb ext drive - very few problems with iTunes and ATV since I added my ext drive to my startup menu causing it to open before iTunes but.....
Just bought Angels & Demons on my laptop and have been presented with an estimated download time of 55hrs!!!
I did resolve an LP download issue yesterday by pointing iTunes to my laptop for storage - download had taken over 24hrs but was complete in under an hour when the content was stored on laptop as opposed to ext HDD.
I know that any new release of iTunes causes an increase in interest on a global scale but I don't think that the problem is weight of traffic as suggested elsewhere....
Edit / Update - Over 1hr to download 24mb of the movie file - any news from Apple as to why this is happening?

  • ITunes Running Very Slow and other errors

    iMac, OSX 10.6.7, 2.66 GHZ, Intel Core 2Duo, 4GB Ram 1067 MHZ DDR3
    iTunes 10.2.2
Media is on 1TB USB attached WD Drive / Mac OS Extended.  Music Folder is 83GB
When I launch iTunes it tries to update Genius and gets the following error:
"We could not complete your iTunes store request. An unknown error occured (4002).  There was an error in the iTunes store.  Please try again later."
While viewing my music list in the iTunes browser if I select a star rating for a song, the spinning beach ball may spin for as long as a minute or longer.
If I launch iTunes and do nothing but play music, it "seems" to do ok.  If I do something like change a rating that then invokes the spinning ball, from
there on out everything is slow.  A change in songs can take a minute or more.
I was just able to download / purchase an album from iTunes store.  It was slow and the spinning ball was active for the entire download.  I was able to
use other applications but could not click anything in iTunes.
After the download I am able to switch between any and all songs in my library without any noticible lag.
I updated the rating on one of the new songs just purchased and it took a full 3 minutes for the spinning ball to stop.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Terry

OK, found it.  This fixed my performance issue.

  • ITunes Store extremely slow...

There are moments (often) when the iTunes Store is just extremely slow. I'll buy a movie and it will tell me it'll be ready in 3 hours. How am I supposed to watch anything on my iPad or Apple TV?

The widgets weren't working either, clean installs seem to fix everything, even if they take several hours.

  • ITunes Store is slow

Recently in the past month or two, the iTunes store has been really slow. The "Accessing iTunes Store" loading prompt pops up frequently. It does this while just typing in the search bar as well, so that it takes quite a long time to search anything as it will stop you every two letters or so. I removed the application and reinstalled it but no luck. Any clue why it is doing this? I have friends with the same problem.

Sure is slow for me. Downloading angry birds @ 13mb on a 25Mb/s connection and it says 25 minutes to complete.

  • ITunes store using 100% of CPU

Since upgrading to iTunes 11.0.4, performance of the iTunes store has been horribly slow, taking 5 seconds to register a keystroke and using 100% or more of the CPU. Any idea what's up?

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Has the performance of the iTunes store taken a dive?

Since the update to iTunes 6, the performance of the iTunes store seems very, very slow. It can take over a minute for the store to come up and a download of a single music track is many minutes.
Is this just my setup (on both a mac and pc with iTunes 6) or is the video trafic slowing everything down?
    Dave

I've noticed the same thing...painfully slow downloading music now. Is it just the increase in traffic? Is anyone else experiencing this?
