Itunes Store not opening after updating Itunes

Hey guys
I can't get the itunes store to open, I just updated Itunes and did all the troubleshooting that is reccomended on apple.com to make sure everything is up to date.  Any ideas of how to solve it?
Thanks

Cindy, I had that one. I can't remember all of the steps I took but I can now get iTunes working and not recognizing my iPod (I get the message that I need to reinstall iTunes).
You need to uninstall iTunes and QuickTime through the Add / Remove Programs AND delete certain folders.
This page should help: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
Ignore the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from Microsoft.
Does anyone know if Apple bothers to check the forums anymore. Have they hung us out to dry?

  • Itunes will not open after update, itunes will not open after update

i have just updated itunes following trying to link my apple tv to itunes on my computer. i was advised an update was required first, agreed, and have not been able to open itunes since.

Well then I would attempt a complete uninstall and reinstall of an earlier version of iTunes-
should be able to find one somewhere.  Also review your automatic system restore settings
for future problems.  I have used system restore multiple times for issues like this.
It really is a quick fix.
Do you have an Apple Store somewhere near where you live?  You could make an appointment to
talk to a tech there.  I think that's free.

  • Itunes store wont open after update to 10.5

itunes store wont open and not able to back up my phone when i updated my computer with 10.5 (windows 7) help

So the Mic shows in System Preferences > Sound > Input tab but the volume adjustment makes no difference.
I have checked to see if MUTE, which would normally effect output had any effect and it does not. My blue bar still moves.
If System Profiler sees the Mic I would try deleting com.apple.audioDevices.Settings.plist from Hard Drive/Library/Preferences
These are the Preferences in the Library you can see when you open the Hard drive not the one in your home folder.
IF this does not bring the Mic back to full life it may need and engineer to tell you more.

  • ITunes will not open after update to 11.4

I updated iTunes, along with the other updates I was prompted to install but now my iTunes will not open. At all. No error message or anything. Please someone help?
    Thanks.

    Hi Cchoe,
I see that you are experiencing an issue with iTunes after an update. It sounds like this issue could be related to third-party software interactions with iTunes. Here is an article that will help you troubleshoot:

  • ITunes will not open after updating

Ever since the update to 7.1.1 iTunes will not open.
I get a pop-up window that says iTunes has stopped working.
I have followed Apple's instructions for Vista about uninstalling all Apple products. I have done this 8+ times and I am at a total loss. I am a webmaster and Sr. Sys. Admin for a software company, so it's not like I don't have experience with computer/software issues.
When I look at the Windows application log. I have this error:
Faulting application iTunes.exe, version 7.7.1.11, time stamp
    0x4890a5ee, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time
stamp 0x4791a76d, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000254d8,
process id 0xf44, application start time 0x01c8fb2e587a39a9.
This started happening after I updated.
No other issues with any other programs. Quicktime will start up and run.

I hear you. My itunes is fubared and Apple and ALL the articles they send do NO good. I have emailed Apple many times and nothing helps.
Whatever they changed with version 7.1 messed up itunes and you can't go back.
I have emailed Apple asking them if I can delete my itunes directory and any references to itunes and NOT lose my 10K songs. They havent responded to that email and my guess is that it will delete it. But Im not going to risk losing my library until I know for sure !
Im in the same boat you are, I dont want to lose my library either. APPLE NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND NOW !!
anyway this is a pain in the *** but itunes(windows) will open this way
    UNTIL APPLE FIXES THIS !
    1.boot up windows
2.right click on your START button
3.go to C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes (my machine is a Dell with Vista)
4.go to the itunes directory C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC INFO
5.delete BOTH files SC info.sidb AND SC info.sibb
6.launch itunes, it should open, mine did.
    7. if you have any purchased songs from the istore, log-in with your user name/password.
THIS WORKED FOR ME BUT YOU HAVE TO LEAVE YOUR ITUNES OPEN, IF YOU CLOSE IT OUT, YOU WILL HAVE TO REPEAT THE PROCESS AGAIN. (at least I did)
    GOOD LUCK !!

With that one, the only workaround I'm aware of at the moment is to disable your BonJour Service.
Right-click "My Computer" and select "Manage".
    Expand "Services and Applications"
    Open "Services"
Right click on the BOnJour service and select "properties".
In the General tab, change the start-up type to "disabled".
    OK out of the tab.
Restart the PC. Does iTunes launch for you now?

  • ITunes Store not working after update

iTunes Store crashes every time you open it after iphone update. Many others are experiencing the Same issue.

Hi justineflow, is your problem similar to this - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4318276?tstart=0
It seems maybe iTunes is being updated or there is an issue with 10.7 for some people not using Lion or Mountain Lion..? Wondered if it was a Snow Leopard thing but you're using 10.3.9 so that's not the issue. Wondering if it's just a UK thing...

I updated iTunes yester day and now it won't open.
I have tried logging out and restarting.  I have also unisntalled iTunes and reinstalled.  I have logged out of iCloud as well.
If I clcik on an audio file then Windows Media player oepns up instead.  What's p with that?

Same for me as above. Installing Quicktime made the difference. But I hate this version - the GUI is so confusing. Do you know how we can go back to an earlier version?

  • ITunes will not open after update/reinstall

I tried to update to the newest version of Itunes when prompted, but since then I have not been able to open the program. I have followed the instructions and uninstalled and re-installed the program multiple times. When I attempt to open Itunes, I see a message that says it cannot open the program because the language is not compatible and needs to be in English. However, English was the language picked for the install. Any ideas?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it, which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Itunes will not open after download, itunes will not open after download

I downloaded the recent update for itunes 10. It crashed my computer and my computer went into safe mode and i said yes to delete itunes.
I downloaded itunes again and it will now not work. The download goes through perfect and i have repaired it more times than i can count.
Still the same window pops up saying, "the itunes library .itl cannot be found or created. The default location for the file is in the "itunes" folder in the "music" folder." What do i do?

Still the same window pops up saying, "the itunes library .itl cannot be found or created. The default location for the file is in the "itunes" folder in the "music" folder." What do i do?
Try holding down the shift key as you open iTunes. You should see a dialog, as per the following screenshot:
    Click "Choose Library".
In "Music" open the "iTunes" folder and select the iTunes Library.itl file as per the following screenshot:
.. and click the "Open" button.
    Does your iTunes launch now?
(If so, you should be able to launch normally from now on out. By default, iTunes opens the last open library file when you launch it normally.)

  • Store not opening after update to Windows 8.1

On opening the store, the Windows Store loading screen gets stuck in perpetual loop without end.
I have tried out the fixes mentioned in some blogs and posts but none of them solved the problem.
I have tried solutions from this blog, all four of them. But still facing the same issue.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/notime/archive/2013/10/18/fix-store-app-in-windows-8-1.aspx
I have opened Command Prompt in administrator mode and used four commands mentioned below.
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.XML
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\camera\AppxManifest.xml
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\FileManager\AppxManifest.xml
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\ImmersiveControlPanel\AppxManifest.xml
So all these fixes did not work for me. Please suggest me an alternative.

  • ITunes won't open after update; MacBook Pro, Mac OSX 10.6.8, iTunes version 11.1.5

iTunes won't open after update - help, please; MacBook Pro, Mac OSX 10.6.8, iTunes version 11.1.5.

i had a problem similar to yours and better yet, i have the fix for it. i downloaded maverick 4 months ago and was without itunes ever since. all itunes icon did was bounce. itunes would never open and whats more, is when i would try to update it, i would get a "thank you for downloading itunes!" page , but the download would never work. so i scoured the net for solves. nothing that worked. <4 months later> then last night i took a new approach. i decided even though maverick would not allow me to uninstall itunes, i would find a way to uninstall itunes. then i would reinstall back to 11.1.5 i was successful and heres what i did.
    step one-
Back up your iTunes Library.itl file, found under ~/Music/iTunes
(even tho i didnt, i only had 3 artists in there at the time. and they didnt get erased but i advise you back up just in case.)
    step two-
download itunes 10.7 from apple. i used this link Download it from Apple here
(i pulled the link from Aarons website (awesometast.com). you download 10.7 however you want but i used the link above and have had no issues).
although im not sure you need to do this step ( you may be able to download 11.1.5 itunes without 10.7, i did because i was following intructions from http://awesometoast.com/downgrading-to-itunes-10-7-from-itunes-11-on-osx/
    step 3-
    open Terminal
    step 4-
enter in these 3 commands hitting return after each line. 1st line nothing seems to happen, 2nd line nothing seems to happen and 3rd line gives you a warning and requires password to continue. when i did it, my password didnt appear as i entered it and i hit return without looking, so i entered it in again, although im not sure i had to the 2nd time.
    killall iTunes
    killall "iTunes Helper"
    sudo rm -rf /Applications/iTunes.app/
    step 5-
drag off and dump the itunes icon (which now has the ? shadow in it) off your dock.
    step 6-
install 10.7 itunes you downloaded earlier. (not sure if this part is neccesary. you may be able to just download 11.1.5 but i downloaded 10.7 because i was following Aarons steps.) itunes now works.
    step 7-
go to apple and update to 11.1.5 itunes. install it. open it and you have itunes 11.1.5 in perfect working order. assuming you have a decent internet speed for the downloads, the whole process takes very little time.
with those steps above, you can solve itunes just bouncing and not launching issues and also the "thank you for downloading" and nothing downloads issue. enjoy. also i would like to give a shout out to http://awesometoast.com and thank Aaron for the knowledge that enabled me to get itunes back into my life.
