ITunes Store scam?

I would like to alert users to a possible hacking into iTunes Sore accounts. My account was accessed on 14th January by a possible hacker (I have never given my ID nor password to anyone)and two lots of £25 purchases were made for "Monthly Gift for [email protected] 1 £25.00" My debit card, the details of which should have held securely by iTunes Store, was charged twice. I have alerted my bank and iTunes Store and an investigation is ongoing. iTunes Store refuse to tell me what the items are that I am supposed to have purchased. This seems bizarre, especially as they have taken the money out of my bank account twice! I would urge you to change your passwords for iTunes Store and remove any credit card details that are lodged with them. Magalan.

  • Suspected Scam from iTunes Store

Got the following email with a very solid looking iTunes and Apple logo on it.
Thank you for buying the following product:
Product Name: Boating Europe - Order Number: 192173049322
    Receipt Date: 20/02/2015 Order total: 28.99 £

Frankly I didn't notice the charge was in pounds, but the email got through my junk filter.   However I am very cautious and went to iTunes to see if I had an order in and I didn't.
So beware if you get this email.  I suspect the link will load malware on your computer.

  • HT1473 I am having an error on Purchase from ITunes Store in downloading a song with the rest of an album. It is the only song that did not download correctly and nothing works from downloading from already purchased it says (-err = 100000)

Can Someone please help me understand why I just got scammed by Itunes for purchasing a song and not being able to download it because it autmatically makes me download it as the old file that I already purchased instead of rebuying it which is not working either.

I'm very troubled by this issue because I have been purchasing music from the ITunes Store for years but the problem basically is that when I try to buy the one song again it says I have already purchased it so it automatically downloads it when I try to buy it again which continues the same problem and I tried to hide it from the purchase menu and that did not work i unhid it and the problem seems to continue can anyone kindly please help me figure out what I did wrong because I'm sure its ITunes Store's fault on this one.

  • ITunes store won't redeem gift cards!

I start iTunes; go to iTunes store, click "Redeem", enter a gift card "Activation Code"; Immediately upon hitting Enter/Return I get an iTunes error screen reading "*Your session has timed out. Please start over.*" or some such message. At that point, I can't start over, iTunes is frozen up and I have to quit iTunes completely and restart it to try again. I try again, typing the code CAREFULLY, same thing happens. I quite iTunes, start over, and try a different gift card, same exact message. I'm running OX 10.4.11 with iTunes 8.0.2 on a Powerbook G4. I'm thinking iTunes 8 is not all that compatible with 10.4.11. Any thoughts? What do I do with $65 in gift cards?

This being a very old thread, you'll probably have better luck getting suggestions if you start a new topic with your issue.
Without any details as to where things are going wrong for you, it's difficult to offer much advice, but one thing to check is to make sure you're using the correct code. For most iTunes cards, the code is under the scratchoff area on the back of the card. For more information, see their web page If you can't get it to work after perusing that page, use the form at the bottom of the page to contact the iTunes Store customer service group and explain the problem to them.
This of course presumes you purchased valid iTunes cards from an authorized reseller. There are scams out of China selling counterfeit cards and gift certificates, so if you purchased your cards from a private individual or an unauthorized source such as eBay, you may have counterfeit cards for which you have no recourse.
    Good luck.

  • ITunes purchase scam?

It's a phishing attempt to try and get your and account and payment details, do not click on the link (or if you have clicked on it don't fill in any details) - forward the email to Apple : [email protected] , and then delete it.

  • Why won't iTunes store save my credit card code?

I have to re-enter my credit card code each time I make a purchase through the iTunes store on my laptop (PC) running Windows XP.  Why won't iTunes save it?

Is it actually prompting you for a credit card, or just asking you to verify billing details? Due to recent security issues and identify theft (mostly due to phishing scams), the iTunes Store seems to be requiring more frequent verification of billing information, even if you have a balance from a prepaid card. Go into the Payment information in your account and set the payment method to "none", if it's not already, which should then stop the regular requirements for verification. It may still ask - mine did for a while - but you should just be able to click through the buttons without problems.
By all means, though, if you prefer eMusic, use that service.
    Regards.

  • Why won't iTunes store honor my gift card?

My balance shows up, but when I try to download an album, it doesn't subtract from the balance, it only prompts me for a CC. What's up with that?
ITunes is expensive and hard to use. Think I'll stick with eMusic which is much better!

  • False billing email from iTunes Store

I received an email, based on my secondary email account, with an alleged bill (Receipt # 850120001476) for $52.98, for two alleged purchases from iTunes Store.  To me,since I have not many any purchases from the iTunes Store, this is a malware scam email.  Has anyone experienced a similar scam?
    Appreciatively, Bruce

Received email from "itunes store, [email protected] stating that I had purchased Kill Bill Double Feature movie bundle for $199.99".  I have not bought this.
It is asking me to provide billing information to verify that I'm the legitimate account holder.  Is this a scam?

Yes. Look at the address carefully - 'tunes' - and the link to enter your information will also be a non-Apple one. Don't follow any links; bin it.

  • ITunes store refusing to refund invalid charge of over $300

    Hi,
This has me bewildered and completely underwhelmed with Apple, a company that I have respected so much, for so long.
After buying two brand new 13" Retina Macbook Pro's, for around $4500, I attempted to re-download software from the App Store that I owned previously and was charged $300.
(At no point did I confirm or accept this charge, it was suddenly and automatically charged to my paypal with ONE click.) *A side note, "one click purchases" are extremely unethical, and should be illegal. This whole case is starting to reveal a possible scam that Apple, and many other "one click purchase" stores have going. It's extremely easy to accidentally "buy" something.. what if you bump your mouse, or drop a pencil on your touch pad, guess what. You just bought *insert item here* for *insert price here* and in my case it was $300, and somehow non-refundable.
When I contacted the iTunes Store to inform them of this error and request a refund, I was told that they would not refund the charge, and after several bizarre emails from them (gramatical errors, incomprehensible sentances), I received this explanation:  "I was advised that since there are too many refunds that has been processed with your current account, we are unable to reverse the said charges."
My account does not have any refunds that I know of, and when I asked them to explain what the "too many refunds" were all about, they refused to answer. What is even more disturbing, was that I called apple support, (who were VERY helpful, and nice and were disgusted by iTune's behaviour), and I was put through to a "senior advisor" who contacted iTunes while I was on hold, to ask them to refund me, and they refused.  When he asked why, they gave him the same answer, and he also pressed them for more information about these alleged "too many refunds" they would not give him any information.
He then attempted to get "Customer Relations" on the line for me, but they would not speak to me, and instead told the senior advisor to continue to work with me and contact iTunes for me again.
This has now been 2+ hours.. iTunes are closed for the night. The advisor is going to try again tomorrow for me and call me back.
I am completely bewildered with this whole surreal iTunes situation. It does not even seem remotely like Apple that I am dealing with. (Apple support has been fantastic, but it seems like iTunes are even jerks to Apple! )
This feels like dealing with some cheap scam company. Everything about this experience is so far from what I have ever seen with Apple before.
I own 4 macbook pros, 2 of which I purchased within the past few days (for almost $4500) 3 iPods, 2 iPads, 3 iPhones, an iPort and an Apple TV. I've been an Apple customer for over a decade, and NEVER have I seen something like this, from what I've always thought of as one of the greatest companies in the world.
I will let you know what happens next.

After much back and forth drama, and the assistance of one awesome person at Apple, and also a great iTunes representitive, they have agreed to refund me.
I have not yet recieved the refund but will post here when I do.
This has been a long and drawn out headache, but I am glad that finally things seem to be set straight.

  • Movies i bought from the itunes store and they wont sync to my ipod

I had bought an ipod for my daughters birthday n i had purchased several movies from the itunes store and they downloaded n they show up in my library n wheni check them to sync to her ipod....it shows a pop up block that says that it cannot be copied to this ipod cause it is not supportrd by this ipod.  my baby is really wanting to use it n I downloaded the itunes 10 & updated her ipod software to 4.3.3 i  think that i did all the necessary updated and downloads now what do i do...i've been on this comp eversince 11:00am this morning and it is still now 1:29am....i dont know....if anyone has any suggestions..they r welcomed

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

A movie I purchased in the iTunes store is missing. It isn't hidden and doesn't show up in search. I've followed support steps.  Where is it and how do I find it?  I believe I originally purchased the film on my 1st Gen AppleTV...other movies show up. Help.

It was Love Actually. It's been in my library a few years but is now missing. It's odd...it isn't even in the iTunes Store anymore. I think there is a rights issue because a message appeared in the store saying it wasn't available at this time in the U. S. store. Still, if I bought it years ago it should be in my library or I should get a refund....

  • Songs that I have purchased are missing in iTunes (file not found/exclmation point), and do not show up in the iTunes Store for download.

I have a laptop that has (or had) pretty much all of my music, both burned from CDs and downloaded from iTunes. My 17 year old son on occasion syncs his iPhone and iPad with this laptop. As of the last sync (as best I can determine), many songs that I purchased in the past few years are now missing, in that they have an exclamation point to the left of the song title, and when I try to play the song, I get an error message that says "The song could not be used because the original file could not be found" or something to that effect. As it turns out, the file seems to be erased. This has happened multiple times, and I could be wrong, but I believe that there are some songs that had the exclmation point last time he synced that now don't, and vice-versa. There is not an obvious correlation or grouping as to why these songs are missing (e.g,. they were not all purchased on the same date, not all songs from one artist are missing, etc.).
Since most of these songs have been purchased through iTunes through my account, my reaction was to go to the iTunes store, log in with my account, and re-download them. Problem is, all of these songs instead ask me to purchase the song, instead of displaying a "cloud" logo. Therefore, it appears that I have to re-purchase these songs, which does not sound correct.
Questions: Does anyone know, most importantly (to get an immediate fix):
    1. How can I re-download these songs and why doesn't iTunes Store recognize that I have already purchased them?
and perhaps as important (more of a long-term question):
    2. Why does this happen and how can I prevent this from happening again (since it has happened multiple times)?
    Thanks.

    1. iTunes won't offer cloud downloads for songs that it "thinks" are in your library, even if it "knows" the files are missing. If you've exhaustively searched for the missing files and there is no prospect of repair by restoring to them to their original locations, or connecting to new ones, then delete that tracks that display both the missing exclamation mark and are of media kind Purchased/Protected AAC audio file. Don't hide from iTunes in the cloud when asked, close iTunes, then reopen. You can download from the cloud links or iTunes Store > Quicklinks > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer > All songs > Download all.
    2. Why? Not sure, perhaps 3rd party tools or accidental key presses combined with previously hidden warning messages when trying to organize the library. There is a hint that using the feature to downsample media as it is synced to a device may also be involved, though I've not replicated it. Whatever the reason a backup would protect your media.

  • HT201272 I purchased songs from iTunes Radio on my iPhone, but now the only place they will show up is in the iTunes Store app on my phone, even after syncing to my computer a million times, the songs do not show up in my library or anywhere else.

I purchased songs from iTunes Radio on my iPhone, but now the only place they will show up is in the iTunes Store app on my phone, even after syncing to my computer a million times, the songs do not show up in my library or anywhere else. My phone is not syncing properly, I wanted to add another playlist to it that I created on my Mac. I pluged in my phone and made sure the playlist I wanted to add was checked to be on my phone when I synced.
The playlist I wanted to add was "Country." It is clearly checked. I also wanted to add the "Recently Added" playlist, which I also checked before sycing. Currently, my phone only has the "Purchased" playlist and my "All Songs" playlist on it. When I hit sync, iTunes added another playlist automatically added another playlist to the list above and checked it. It was titled "ALL SONGS 1" and had ten fewer songs in it than the playlist I had created, "ALL SONGS" had. This playlist, however does not show up on my phone after syncing, nor does "Country" or "Recently Added." (Every time I sync, another playlist is created as "ALL SONGS 2, 3, 4, etc.") One of the songs (I have not, yet checked the other songs) that I purchased from within iTunes Radio shows up in the "ALL SONGS 1" on this screen:
But does not show up anywhere else. This playlist does not show up anywhere but the two screens above. The ALL SONGS 1 or 2 playlists do not show up here:
When I search for those song in my library, it shows that I do not have them:
But if I go to the iTunes store, I get the play button and not the price of the song:
This is what things look like from my phone's side of things:
"Summertime Sadness," one of the songs I bought from iTunes Radio, does not show up in the iTunes store under purchased "All" or "Not on This iPhone"
But, it does show up under "Recent Purchases"
Also, this is what playlists are on my phone after syncing a million times:
Only what was on there before I started any of this. "Summertime Sadness" and the other songs I bought from inside iTunes Radio, do not show up in either of these playlists. Please, help me.
