Itunes store - technical difficulties - 6 weeks?!!!!!

I purchased an ipod nano 8gb in mid February.
So far, it is a not-so-good paperweight.
I have been trying to sign into the itunes store almost every day, several times a day, and when I try to sign in, it comes back "experiencing technical difficulties, please try again later". I have called Apple and they are of NO HELP. They do not understand it either.
Is anyone else able to sign into the store?

Thanks for trying to help.
When I try to sign in, the first message I get is: This Apple ID has not yet been used with the iTunes store. Please review your account information.
So I click "Review". Which brings up the legal gobbilty-gook agreement. I check the "I agree" line and click "Continue".
Next, it asks for a payment type. I've tried 3 different VISA's, a Mastercard, and a Discover. Also my long-time Paypal account. All accounts are good, active and open. Even with Paypal, I always get a confirmation via email saying the account is "all good".
Yet, every time, I click "Done" on this screen, it always comes back with "we are experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again later". Yeah, much later. Like never.
Just frustrated.

  • ITunes Store - Technical Difficulties

experienced problems when signing up in iTunes store.
I'm in HK with a HK registered credit card, want to buy Apps for iPod Touch.
After I input my information (my Apple ID and credit card) and click done, I've got this in my iTunes store page:
'We are currently experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again later.'
I googled this and found 2 threads here but they are not answered, and the threads are archived, ie not allow to be replied.
I have the most updated iTunes and I tried again after security updated but still having this.

    Thanks for trying to help.

  • Payment Info for iTunes store - technical difficulties? tried multiple time

    Hi all,
I'm kind of new to these forums but I have a problem...
I have been trying to activate an iTunes store account for a while and I have my email and password and everything set up but when I try and "review payment information" (which a dialog box tells me to do every time I sign in), I agree to the terms, I enter everything - address, phone, card information, all that, and I keep getting a red error message at the top of the screen saying "We are sorry, the iTunes store is experiencing technical difficulties at this time. Please try again later." Or something of that sort. It is getting really annoying and I'm getting really frustrated because all I want to do is activate my account!!! It seems like every time I try and sign up for something with Apple, they are always "experiencing technical difficulties" or I am told "try again later". It gets really old really fast.
Has anyone had this problem? Better yet fixed it? Maybe its my ISP?
Anyone who is willing to help me out with the iTunes issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Alex

    You are not alone!
I've had an account for a long time but for the past few days I've been unable to buy anything because I find myself stuck in a loop. Every single time I try to make a purchase I have to click a Billing info button and then check my payment details which haven't changed and worked fine before. I've tried removing my payment details and re-entering them but now I'm presented with a message that payment processing is not available, please try again later.
It seems the store is having problems and for me it was fine before the iPhone, App Store and MobileMe launches so I'm guessing there's a connection.
Best thing to do is contact iTunes Support which have always been helpful for me on the few times I've had to contact them.

  • ITunes Allowance Technical Difficulties

    Hi All.
I am trying to set-up an Allowance on iTunes but I get an error message:
"We are currently experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again later."
I am not using a US app store but one in Europe.
This is not the first time I get this message and I have been trying for quite a while.
    Anybody that can help?

For anyone that comes across this post with the same problem, details on how to solve it are here:
    http://specialchildren.about.com/b/2008/04/25/setting-up-an-itunes-account-witho ut-a-credit-card.htm
The key thing is that you need to sign in with the childrens account into iTunes and agree to the T&C's before you set up the allowance . In order to agree to T&C's and configure the account you need an iTunes Gift Card (£5 will do), otherwise you keep getting nagged for a Credit Card during setup of the account - which defeats the point of the allowance.

  • Cannot access iTunes store for over 2 weeks.

Ok, admittedly I haven't been continually trying to connect to the store during the 2 week period -- I just happened to try again today and saw that I got the same error as before. However, the error itself lays little blame on my end when it produces this message:
"We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The host is down. There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."
Quite a nebulous message -- no error # or mention of any kind is given that indicates an error on my end.
I believe this corresponded with my upgrade to 7.1.1, but I would be wrong. Searching the rest of the forum yielded no relevant topics.
All other internet activity works just fine and it is only the iTunes Store that is giving me any sort of problem at all.
Thanks for any help you are able to provide.

    Thanks for your post.
An update with my situation -- I am now able to access the iTunes Store.
The culprit was a program called Little Snitch. With it, you can selectively deny or allow outbound internet traffic from applications (outbound traffic from certain applications surreptitiously exchange private user information). An option for denying outbound traffic with Little Snitch is "Deny until quit." I rarely use the iTunes Store and I don't think I've either reset my computer or quit iTunes since the last time I got that error 2 weeks ago and forgot about having chose to deny its outbound traffic when using iTunes (the outbound traffic occurred when I wasn't even trying to access the store directly, rather it was exchanging information with the store in the background, when I was just listening to music).
Little Snitch informs me where the information is attempting to be sent and on which port it is using to convey that information. Several different servers are contacted (phobos.apple.com, akamaitechnologies.com, and omniture.112.2o7.net), but all of the exchanges took place on port 80 (http). So if you are able to exchange information on your web browser, there's no reason that you shouldn't be able to exchange information using iTunes, unless there are measures in place on your end that only allow the exchange of traffic on port 80 using specific applications.
Is there something else intercepting traffic between your computer and the servers the iTunes store uses that may be causing the problem for you?
Hope some if this information was helpful.

  • Music added to iTunes store this week

Some time ago, you used to be able to access a list of all the material added to the iTunes Store in the last week, as well as new releases. This facility doesn't seem to be available any more - or is it, and I'm just looking in the wrong place?

    Hello, morai.
Thank you for the question.  iTunes can read media from multiple locations and might not place any imported media to the iTunes Media folder unless the preference is selected.  Below, I have included an article that will show you to select the preference.  See the section labeled Options and Preferences.
Where are my iTunes files located?

  • Ultimate ITUNES Store fix for WINXP

I think what the ultimate perfect fix will be is:
    1) Turn off all your virus protection software
    2) Turn off all your firewalls on your computer and your router (routers have firewalls - so know how to do this).
    3) Reset your MTU to 1400 on your router and your computer (many ISPs will cut up the communication packets which cause communication errors - if you do not shrink the MTU to 1400).
    4) make sure that APPLE support clears your account of all errors in the downloads.
    5) Try to download a song only. I am not sure if you can find a free song, but APPLE support should give you a free song to try.
** Turn it all back on after you finish your download **

I am still awaiting the ITUNES STORE technical support to reset my downloads so that I show no pending downloads (STEP 4 above). After a week and three emails sent and responded to they still are not fixing the problem. Whats does it take to get good support? I have recieved some download credit, but I need the download records to be reset so that I show no downloads pending.

  • ITunes Store, Apple ID, MobileMe Password Madness ...

Just sent this to support, sharing it here to see if others are coming unstuck with the recent changes of the iForgot and the password complexity that they've added.
Essentially what must happen is that *someone else* thinks my account is their account, so after three attempts the account locks, and the password has to be changed.
    - - - ** URGENT REPEAT ISSUE ** PLEASE ESCALATE **
Once again I'm getting prompts to reset my password because it has been entered too many times. I'm not entering it incorrectly.
This security measure DOES NOT MAKE SENSE!!!
If I have to reset my password for my iTunes account, this means I have to re-enter my password in DOZENS of places for MobileMe services (Mail, iDisk, Calendar, etc, etc) and multiple devices (MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, iPhone, iPad ...).
It's getting ridiculous, I've had to do two password changes this weekend alone and I can't keep up with them.
It was less of an issue when the password could be reset to itself (essentially you were unlocking the Apple ID by verifying security questions) but a forced change is making things very difficult indeed.
It also makes iTunes store purchases difficult to make, so I'm less inclined to make them!!
Please, please look into this as a matter of urgency. I can't be the first person with a MobileMe account that this has happened to!!
    Anyone Else??

Quite a number of people have complained about this exact problem see:
    http://tinyurl.com/2cmw7ko
    http://tinyurl.com/2bqohdq
http://tinyurl.com/2aqfn29 (shortened URLs to threads in the MobileMe forum).
It would appear that the requirement to use a new password each time is a new feature, hence the sudden upsurge of problems.
The only way forward is for everyone who has this problem to make as much fuss as possible until enough pressure builds up for Apple to do something - though exactly what is debatable.
The real problem is faulty initial design - it's a serious flaw that the login user name is the same as the account name which appears in web pages and emails: this means that anyone can find it out, and anyone can lock you out of your account, either inadvertantly or maliciously. If the login was different - so you would have to have an account name, a user login, and a password - the problem wouldn't arise: but unfortunately this would require a massive rewrite of the software and isn't likely to happen.
Up to now people in this situation have been able simply to reset to the same password - enough of a pain in itself if some fool somewhere thinks he owns your email address. It may be that the recent upheaval has been triggered by the spate of fraudulent purchases in iTunes.

  • Error -3212 when trying to connect to iTunes store.

Help please anybody. Haven't been able to connect to iTunes store for about a week, to start with it would connect to a very basic store front, then after installing latest iTunes, I keep getting an error message with error -3212, have looked through lots of other threads, and tried a few suggestions but nothing seems to work.
I'm on an old iMac G4 with OS X 10.5.8 and iTunes 9.0.3

  • Itunes store unknown error -50 help needed

i've recently become unable to access the music, podcasts, and ping sections of the itunes store from my imac (3.06 ghz intel core 2 duo).
over the same network, i can access all areas of the itunes store from other devices such as my iphone, ipad, macbook and macbook pro.
when trying to access the music, podcasts or ping sections of the itunes store, i get an error that reads"
'we could not complete your itunes store request. an unknown error occurred (-50). there was an error in the itunes store. please try again later'
i've been thru every, and i mean every, apple article available and have done everything suggested (included advanced and isolated) several times and the error remains.
we have 4 users on this imac. 3 users shared the same itunes account and apple id (mine) until recently. both of my daughters opened their own apple id's and itunes accounts to use gift cards they were given. i've been thru the account info on each account and all seems ok. at the same time, i enabled parental controls. i've since disabled parental controls to try and fix this issue.
    the issue remains.
i've emailed apple itunes store technical support and followed all of their recommendations, which mirrored the online apple articles.
    the issue remains.
this imac is running lion with all software updates including itunes 10.5.3 (3)
can anyone please, please offer any advice or assistance?
    thanks in advance.

i've been thru every, and i mean every, apple article available and have done everything suggested (included advanced and isolated) several times and the error remains.
Have you tried everything here > iTunes Store: "Error (-50)" when downloading purchased content
If you have anti virus software installed, disable that and turn off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security & Privacy

  • Still can't get into iTunes store!!!

I have been trying to get into the iTunes store for about 3 weeks...I keep getting the message that says "store is temporarly unavailable"....what's going on with this and how can I fix it?

I recently upgraded to v10.1, and kept getting "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (306). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later." whenever I tried to access the iTunes Store. Safari also wouldn't load.
I even contacted customer support, and they were pretty useless.
After scouring around trying anything to fix the problem, I found a solution that worked!!!
The 306 error is related to issues with your proxy connections. A number of different things may potentially be causing the troubles, but a good place to start with your troubleshooting is adjusting your proxy connection settings in your Internet Options control panel.
    (1) In your Start menu, select Control Panel.
    (2) Open the Internet Options control panel. (If you are using Windows XP or Windows Vista you may need to select Classic View on the left before you can see Internet Options. If you are using WIndows 7 you may need to change "View by" to either Large icons or Small icons before you can see Internet Options.)
    (3) Click the Connections tab.
    (4) Click the LAN Settings button.
    (5) Uncheck "Use a Proxy Server for your LAN". (If that option is already unchecked, try checking and then unchecking it.)
    (6) Click OK to exit the LAN Settings dialog.
    (7) Click OK to exit the Internet Options control panel.
    (8) Restart the PC and try connecting to the Store again.
    Hope this helps!

  • Not able to connect or sign in to iTunes Store at all

Ok, I haven't logged into the iTunes store before, but I have an account set up.
When I try and access the store, it says it cannot connect and to check the network connection.
My internet connection is fine, and there is nothing wrong with my password/account as I have logged into iTunes on another Mac using the same password and user name.
I have downloaded the most recent iTunes (8.0.2) and it still doesn't work.
    Any suggestions?
    Heather

I too have been unable to unable to log in to the iTunes store for a couple weeks. It started while I was still using iTunes 8.0.1(12) under OS X 10.5.5 PPC, but the situation remains unchanged now that I've upgraded to 8.0.2(20). Downloading free stuff (like podcasts) works great, but I cannot log into my iTunes account or download the material I have paid for but not yet received (specifically, passes for TV shows).
I don't use a PAC file to configure the proxy, but my proxy does require authentication. I've tried both using keychain and ... uhh ... not. There's something going on in iTunes' proxy mechanism that's got a subtle problem, and it's clear that using a variety of proxy configurations is not in iTunes QA test plan.
Like Gaffer1 and firespinner I have had no luck communicating with Apple support about this. My next step is to ask for a refund for the materials I've paid for but can't download; hopefully it will cause an escalation of the problem. I've seen Apple have very good turnaround time for bugs like these... once they get brought to The Right People's attention, but The Right People are well hidden.
