ITunes Store unable to process purchases?

I upgraded my MBP and iMac to Lion yesterday morning without any problems. I had updated all apps on both devices before proceeding. I also updated apps on my iPhone4, and iPad2 before doing the Lion install.
The MBP and iMac both work great with Lion. But by mid-morning yesterday, and without change since (i.e. about 23 hours), I have been unable to download new updates to apps on my iPhone4 or iPad2. I have tried to update each via WiFi. I have tried to update the iPhone with WiFi turned off. I have tried to connect by tethering to the MBP (both devices are registered on it) and getting the updates via iTunes.
I have checked and confirmed that I do not have a firewall problem and that the time and location is correctly set for each device.
When I try to download an app update via any of the bove methods, I get a pop-up message saying: The iTunes Store is unable to process purchases at this time." Which is followed by another pop-up saying "We could not complete your request. There was an error in the app store (100)."
Anyone have any idea what is happening? I've scoured the support articles without finding an answer.

Agreed, I don't think it is Lion, either. I suspect the problem is somehow related to the addition of 33 more App Stores (33 countries) and that has somehow borked the system. I now have a growing number of updates to apps on my iPad2 and iPhone that I cannot download. A few of them are important to me. I dare not even check my iPad1 as my wife uses it and would have a serious fit if anything caused problems on it.
More than 30 hours and counting...   All I have seen so far is an auto-mailer message which suggests I try everything I tried yesterday. Not a happy customer. Making it worse, we have Apple computers and iPads in the office, so unless this gets fixed I expect an uproar on Monday.

  • ITUNE Store  "unable to process purchase - please try later"

This should be a simple one...
I have an iTunes account with credit card info stored. I have historically been purchasing music, debited from my account. Today I thought I would buy another song. Attempted to purchase a track and I got the "unable to process purchase. Purchasing system is temporarily unavailable at this time, please try later". Odd. So I check my card details. For some reason it had changed to a Maestro card? I've never had one. The number is right (last 4 digits) but the card type wrong. This may be unrelated but I thought it was odd. Anyway, I have re-edited all of my info and still I am unable to purchase music. BT is my ISP (UK). Main player so should be no fault there. Any ideas anyone? Thanks Mocquery.

  • HT1551 when trying to rent a movie from itunes the message says "itunes store unable to process purchases try again later". Is this usual or am I doing something wrong

when trying to rent a movie on my new apple tv, a message comes up: "itunes unable to process purchases at this time. Try again later"  Is this usual or is something going wrong?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If you use the Apple TV for something else or turn it off it will erase whatever is on it's drive. If you are going to download content for later viewing you might consider doing it on the computer, downloads don't disappear until they expire and you can watch them as many times as you want.

  • The Mrs. and I are receiving "The iTunes Store is unable to process purchases at this time. Please try again later." message whenever we try to update apps or purchase new apps. This is on two separate iPhone4's running 4.3.3

I haven't updated the iOS this week because I'm still working on resolving a separate issue, syncing playlists back to iTunes from the iPhone after a Snow Leopard restore.
FWIW-- The Mac Store on my MacBook also returns a similar error message when I try to update pixelmator and evernote. I get "The iTunes Store is unable to process purchases at this time.  Credit card processing is temporarily unavailable. You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later."
After that error in the Mac Store, I immediately get the following error message: "We Could Not Complete Your Request.  There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (100)"

Try contacting iTunes via email to check if there is an issue with the account. go to apple.com/support/itunes
Click on iTunes Store account and billing and select inquiries. On the right side click on "email us".
Before doing that trying viewing your account information first. Open the iTunes on you mac, look at the menu and select store and select view my account. Try removing the card (this is only applicable if you don't have a pending charges with iTunes) and hit done. Sign out, quit iTunes and sign back in and try updating the apps again.

  • 'The iTunes Store is temporarily unable to process purchases' when downloading an app on iphone 4s

App store on iphone 4s has been working fine, but I went on it today and was unable to update any of my apps or download any new ones. After clicking install or update, and asking for my apple id password, it came up with a message saying 'iTunes Store temporarily unable to process purchases. You may continue to browse the store, but please try your purchase again later'.
How long will this last for, and is there any way to solve it?
    Im from the UK btw

Me too, posted on Windows as well. Just tried again (8/5/08, 3:00 pm PST) and am currently downloading episodes 3 & 4, but now it doesn't recognize that I should be able to download episodes 1 & 2. Already bought 1 on another computer in the house to test firewall problem theory suggested by support.
Support hasn't arrived at any solutions, but they do respond and I ended up with 4 video credits, so I'm thinking I'll just re-buy the missing episodes and call it even.
I had the same problem with Mad Men season pass, got episode 1 as expected, can no longer get episode 2--has vanished as a waiting download.

You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later".

  • ITunes Store is Unable to Process Purchases

Currently the iTunes store is not able to process any purchases. This has been the case for the entire day. I get the following error message:
"The iTunes Store is Unable to Process Purchases at this Time.
Credit card processing is temporarily unavailable. You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later. "
I have upgraded to the latest version of iTunes and it still doesn't work. This error has been off and on over the past few days. Any ideas? There are songs I'd like to buy.

I only just noticed a problem this evening, unable to purchase a single track (error 5002 - ah, that explains it then).
I got around the problem by closing the error message and logging into my account (clicking the little button with your email/username under the search field) and clicking resume downloads in the Pending Downloads section. The track I was trying to buy loaded as normal. I then clicked it again seeing as it was still highlighted after going back to my account window (clicking the iTunes Store button) and clicked Done when it showed my credit card info screen.

  • The iTunes Store is unable to process purchases at this time.

Trying to buy a Season Pass to a show and all I get is the error "The iTunes Store is unable to process purchases at this time. Credit card processing is temporarily unavailable. You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later."
This has been going on for the last 6 and a half hours.
Anyone else having probs? The system status page shows no problems...

Try it on the computer in iTunes. I've been having this problem for a few days on my iPad. When I logged in on the computer it said something about having a billing issues and I had to log in and reverify my info. It said I had an almost $10 balance due which was weird, because I'm linked with Paypal and have plenty of money in there at all times. It keeps saying "your Paypal transaction was declined" which I can't even begin to figure out. I re-setup the Paypal payments and it works fine now. Everything is sorted out. I wonder if a payment agreement as they call it, expires after so long and has to be re-verified?

  • My Apple TV keeps saying The iTunes Store is unable to process purchases at this time

WHy does my Apple TV keep telling me that the iTunes Store is unable to process purchases at this time when  I try to buy a movie

    Hello Johnson,
It sounds like you are trying to make purchases on your AppleTV but are being met with this error message. I would start by restarting the Apple TV with this process:
Apple TV: How to restart your Apple TV

Restart your Apple TV by selecting Settings > General > Restart.
If the issue persists sign out of the iTunes Store, then restart it again, and test the issue.
From the main Apple TV menu, choose Settings > iTunes Store.

  • HT3204 I have been receiving the error message ...'iTunes store is unable to process purchases at this time.  Please try again later"  over that  last month with increasing frequency

I have been receiving the error message ...'iTunes store is unable to process purchases at this time.  Please try again later"  over that  last month with increasing frequency.  What is the cause and solution?

    Hello e-b p,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
When encountering iTunes Store connectivity issues, the following resources provide the best solutions. To isolate the issue further, I'd be curious to know if it persists on other Wi-Fi networks (assuming you are using a portable computer). Either way, please attempt the steps outlined in these articles:

  • ITMS unable to process purchases

Ever since yesterday i keep getting the message "iTunes Musuc Store is unable to process purchases at this time. Payment process is temporarily unavailable. You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later".
I m not sure this is a real problem or something to do with me upgrading to 5.0.1. All the account information is correct. I´m in Sweden.
    Anyone else seen this message?

Same problem for me. The credit card works fine for other sites, store purchases, but the iTMS keeps complaining that 'payment processing is temporarily unavailable'.
It's been like this for the last week or so. Also, my limit has not been exceeded.

  • "Unable to process purchases"

When trying to buy songs in itunes I keep getting this error...
"The iTunes store is unable to process purchases at this time.
Credit Card processing is temporary unavailable. You can continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later."
This has been going on ALL NIGHT. I could understand a few hours but it is going on 8 hours. Does anyone know a reason for this and is there anyway around it?

for the person who said its a problem with paypal, doesnt know what there talking about.
even though Apple has not come out saying what there problem is, i have switched from my paypal account to a credit card, to an itunes gift card.
The problem is with itunes, and we have no club how long this problem will last...
i wish Apple would just come out saying what the problem is and how long it will take to fix...
there really starting to get apple lovers to dislike them

  • "Unable to process purchases" message

Despite having a credit of 10 songs, I am never able to download songs.
After having put items in my shopping basket, and then hitting the button "Buy Song", the message i get is the following:
"The Itunes Store is unable to process purchases at this time. payment processing is temprary unavailable at this time. You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later."
This has been repeated since early September - i can never make a purchase !! what is wrong ?

Are you running the latest version of iTunes? If not, go download it:
    http://www.itunes.com/download
If so, do you have any anti-virus, web acceleration, or firewall software running? This sort of stuff could be conflicting with iTunes. Try disabling it and giving it another go.

  • Is anyone getting "unable to process purchases at this time" messages?

For almost a week now i've not been able to buy anything on itunes, including the ipod touch upgrade and it's incredibly frustrating. Every time i try to buy something it says
"The iTunes store is unable to process purchases at this time. Payment processing is temporarily unavailable. You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later."
Can anyone help? Can i fix it myself or is it a problem at Apple's end?

I'm getting rather narked at the term 'temporarily' in the error messages since it's been the case since 5pm on Tuesday..
Phoned the AppleCare helpline on Wednesday, they suggested deleting iTunes from my machine then reinstalling, which I'm extremely loath to do..
Took laptop into Apple Store in Glasgow, they couldn't suggest anything other than very heavy traffic on the server from people downloading the iTouch and iPhone upgrades. I guess patience is a virtue, but it would be at the very least polite of Apple to flag up the heavy traffic so customers don't waste time thinking the problem is with their own devices..
