ITunes Store - Will not go beyond the dashed progress bar, will also freeze any outside Internet activity

Alright, I've read numerous discussions and have tried to find an answer and have come up with zilch. Here's what's happening:
I open iTunes, and it attempts to connect to the iTunes store (presumably to update the Cloud). When it does this, it remains on the dashed progress bar. While attempting to connect, it will also freeze any other Internet applications, specifically any pages open in my browser (Chrome). I'm not sure why this is, I haven't seen anything on that subject. However, if I click the (x) next to the progress bar to tell it to stop, it will do so and I can listen with ease. Now, I'd actually like to use the iTunes Store, but whenever I do, it never gets anywhere. I get the dashed progress bar, which on occassion will move on to the solid progress bar, but it will completely freeze from there. I have tried doing the winsock reset, looking for conflicting programs with LSP, reinstalling, updating, none work. After running the network connectivity diagnostics, iTunes determines that everything is good except that a secure link to the iTues store failed. This led me to believe that there was a firewall of sorts that was blocking it. After adding iTunes to the list of exceptions to Windows Firewall, the same results were thrown back at me. I do not have any other programs that would block it (that I know of).
Please help? I just want to buy an album all legal-like.

In itunes...preferences you can change the setting to import songs instead of mp4 to mp3. Afer changing this setting, right click to the songs and than you are able to convert to mp3. ths's it

Have you tried starting up in Safe Mode? If not, I suggest that you give it a try. This will take quite awhile longer than a normal startup because it does a file check and repair of the hard disk.
If this works you will see your normal desktop. Once completely started up in Safe Mode, try to restart normally, and go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility. Click on the top hard drive icon in the left sidebar and note the S.M.A.R.T. status at the bottom right of the pane. What does it say?
Select the named boot volume in the left sidebar, ("Macintosh HD" unless you've renamed it). What is the hard drive capacity and how much space remains available on it? Repair permissions on it.
See if you are able to do a little hard drive maintenance to help things out.

Hi,
Do you know which test your notebook failed? If you don't know, try the following.
Shutdown the notebook. Tap away at f10 as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu. Under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run tests on both the Hard Drive and Memory. Post back with the details of any error messages.

I had this issue with my 6th generation nano. It was driving me nuts, until I realized that somehow locked the repeat button on. Selecting one song rather than a selection will cause whatever song you have selected to play over and over and over and over..

ITunes store can not open because the "connection was reset"

I keep getting this message when I try to access the store. It says that the connection was reset and to make sure my internet connection is active. My internet IS active and I have downloaded the latest version of iTunes. Please help.

Recently I rebooted my IMac, it now will not move past the grey screen with the spinning spirl.
Please help

Turn off your machine, then power on whilst holding down cmd+alt+p+r until the screen goes off and you hear the chime again.
Also, what iMac do you have/how old?

IPhoto: I have several photos that will not open in the edit mode. They also will not open to a screensaver.

I have Version 10.6.8 and iPhoto 9, versiono 8.1.2.
Two questions:
1) I can't find the 9.0 to install so I can then update thru 9.3...
2) I have several pictures that will not open in the edit mode. There is just a blank screen when I attempt to open them. I cannot export them to the desktop either. Message is: Unable to create/Users/(my name)/Desktop

What about a work-around?
Ios 7.1 etc. has a problem with communicating with exchange. There are lots of reports of problems with pdf files.

Try DFU Mode Restore. Open iTunes on computer, connect iPhone to computer, hold both Home and Power buttons for exactly 10 seconds, then release the Power button, keep holding the Home button, for about 20 seconds until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. Then click the Restore button of iTunes.

A book available in the iTunes store is not found through the iPad store.

Is this odd? I can buy a book in the iTunes app store in the Books category. But I thought I'd download it directly to the iPad. I went to iBooks and pressed Store. A search for the same book comes up with nothing.

My curiosity got the best of me and I purchased the app of the book in question. Now I get it. I had never purchased a book from the iTunes store before. It's a real app where the icon sits among the others on the various pages of apps. It does not sit on the shelf inside iBooks.
It's listed only as an iPad app so I guess it will not also appear on the iPhone, which is a shame because I carry that around everywhere and could continue reading. The a Kindle purchased book allows you to have the same book in both places and even advises you of your new position.
Does an iBook allow this also?

Itunes 8.02 will not install all the way... will not recognize iphone

I attempted to "upgrade" to itunes 8.02 from 8.01, at first the installer would not even start installing. I uninstalled all apple software, ie: quicktime, itunes, mobile device service. Downloaded the 64bit vista version of itunes and started to install, the installer got through quick time and itunes. In fact itunes is working now and says its version 8.02, it was a little odd that all my songs and settings where still in there though (might be a new feature?) needless to say the installer stop when it said publishing information and performing the services install.
When I connect my iphone the error says: "iphone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the itunes installer to remove itunes, then install the 64-bit version of itunes." Now the default folder for itunes is /program files(x86) which means it was installing it as a x86 app, when i attempted to change the folder for just the /program files folder where the normal 64bit apps go, the installer crashes on me......

you may need to intall it the way I did, it might just get it to work.

It is disabled and I need to do a restart. I have tried on 2 different computers. I have replaced the cord. I have un-installed and reinstalled Itunes more times then I can count. I have checked all the ports and restarted them. It is not picking up the device at all. Its not the USB ports on the computers because they read my document USB drives I do not know what to do next.
