ITunes stuck processing file

Has anyone else had this issue recently? I am using the latest iTunes x64 on Windows 7 x64. When app updates download from the iTunes store, it freezes when it gets to where it says "processing file" and never completes. I tried using Ccleaner to clean empty junk off my compluter, ran a full disk defrag, and tried running iTunes as anmid, with the antivirus turned off, and the firewall turned off, but alas, it still keeps doing the same thing. I tried chancing allowing multiple downloads at once or only 1 at a time. I tried pausing and unpausing. I tried clearing the store cache. I keep having to cntrl+alt+delete and kill iTunes. No hardware or software has been installed lately to chance anything on my PC. Yet, it keeps doing the same thing. I plan on trying to reinstall iTunes and see if that helps. Anyone else noticing the same issue? Any solutions known that work?

1. Exit iTunes (if not possible, force-kill it in task manager, Ctrl-Alt-Del > Task Manager, right click on iTunes and select "End task").
2. Delete every folder in this directory:
OS X:
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/DownloadsNote: The tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.Windows Vista:
\Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
Windows 7:
\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
Windows XP:
\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
3. Start iTunes and start your downloads again.

  • ITunes app stuck processing file?

For awhile now my the iTunes app on my IPod touch
has been stuck processing a video download.
    Here are the symptoms:
    - Download remains on 'preparing'
    - Not downloading on Wi-Fi network
    - Cannot be swiped to delete ( on or offline)
    - Restarting iPod, iTunes, Apple Sign-In doesn't remove it.
The only thing I can do with the download is to pause or resume it,
Which has no effect on it because the stuck file will not download.
How can remove the file from the download queue?

I would try downloading on computer and then sync and then delete.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • ITunes cannot process file?

Whenever i try to buy music using iTunes, it will download for a while, then either say error=-50 or will get stuck on processing file and I have to shut down the computer. I have Norton Anti-Virus, but I think it allows iTunes. HELP!!!

I have the same exact problem with all my iTunes plus music. I am running Vista though with service pack 1

  • Itunes songs processing files help please

i bought a album of itunes and it has got stuck on one of the tracks saying it is prossesing files and it has been like that for 2 days i cant pause it restart it or delete it in order to skip it need some help please

    Reboot the computer.
Locate your iTunes Media folder, normally <User's Music>\iTunes\iTunes Media and delete the Downloads folder inside it.
    Start iTunes.
Use Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Use Store > Home > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer to check for anything else that still needs to be downloaded.

  • Apps stuck on "processing file" in 11.1.3.8 for Windows

I don't believe that this was a problem 100% of the time since I downloaded 11.1.3.8 for Windows, but I am noticing that recently, most times the software hangs during the "processing file" portion of updating any app.
If I go into task manager and kill all iTunes processess and restart iTunes I can occasionally get smaller apps to update individually if I run the update process quickly after restarting, but once iTunes has been running for about a minute everything that I attempt to update hangs.
I can update the apps on my iPhone or iPad and sync them to succesfully update the apps on my computer/in iTunes, but downloading them hangs.
I've seen other people complaining about it here so I know it's a legitimate issue, my question is -- can anybody confirm if this is software based in 11.1.3.8 or if this is something on Apple's end where the downloaded software pings their servers for verification during the 'processing file" portion of the update?
Thanks for any info that anybody has!

I have the exact same problem and I am experiencing this since last week. My problem is-
When I try to download/purchase an app using iTunes, it immediately starts downloading. Ideally, download starts and finishes in sometime, depending on the file size. In the last stage of downloading, iTunes tries to process the downloaded file and places it in the '...\Music\AppSync\Mobile Applications' folder in my case. The problem I am facing is that sometimes file never completes downloading and gets stuck. Download reaches 100% then iTunes shows 'processing file' and it gets stuck there and never completes. This means that downloaded ipa file never added to the 'Mobile Applications' folder. Even if I try to delete the download, iTunes does not do anything and then I have to kill the iTunes process manually as it does not even quit by clicking on the cross icon. After killing the iTunes process using task manager in windows, I restart iTunes and go to my purchase history to start downloading that app again. Sometime it succeeds otherwise it gets stuck again and I have to repeat the process of killing iTunes and starting again. But after several attempts, it does get downloaded. Also, note that this does not happen all the time, mostly randomly. If I am trying to download 10 apps for example, it will get stuck in 1 or 2.
This problem comes both updating and downloading new apps. I have not found any solution for this yet. I am following up with iTunes support but all they can think of is to reinstall iTunes.
I have latest version of iTunes and it is running on Windows 8.1. The iTunes account country is USA.

  • All downloads freeze at "processing file"

After a download from the iTunes store appears to complete, iTunes shows "processing file" and then it just sits there forever. I can move about within iTunes, but I cannot cancel/pause the download, and I cannot quit iTunes without force-quitting. This happens regardless of whether I am trying to download a new purchase or updating an existing app. AND it is happening on *both* Mac computers that are linked to my iTunes account, so it is not specific to the computer connected to the store. I tried quitting iTunes, deleting all the files from Music->iTunes->Mobile Applications->Downloads and Music->iTunes->iTunes Music->Downloads, and restarting iTunes. I also tried logging out and back in to iTunes. Those didn't help. I am able to successfully download apps directly to my iPhone through the iTunes mobile app. But I am completely locked out of new purchases or updating apps on both of my computers because of this issue.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    **Short Term Solution**
I am having the same problem and it seemed that certain Apps were causing "processing file" freeze.  I have my iTunes set to download apps simultaneously.  Some of the Apps would process but after three Apps "froze", I would close down my iTunes
    for Windows users:
    -right-click on Task bar
    -click on "Start Task Manager"
    -highlight iTunes
    -click "End Process"
I would start iTunes up again and click update apps again and start the process all over again until three Apps were "frozen."
I finally just did one at a time until I got three Apps "frozen" and then would restart iTunes (see above).  Eventually, I was able to download all the apps.
For some reason, one particular App - Duolingo - kept "freezing" every time.  It wasn't until it was the last one that I was able to finally download.
Either way, it is a solution - albeit a very cumbersome one.

  • My iPhone with iTunes match is extremely slow downloading songs, stuck on processing file

I have a 64GB iPhone 5, with iTunes Match enabled. Whenever I try to download songs to the phone, the songs will download very quickly, usually with 15 seconds, but then it will be stuck on Processing File for 15-20 minutes. This makes it very difficult to download large numbers of songs. I have been trying to download ~3000 songs since Friday and there are still 492 left after 4 days. Any ideas why the processing file action takes so long?
Internet speed: 15ms ping, 35mbps download, 11mbps upload
    iOS version: 7.1.2
    Capacity: 57.1GB
    Available: 30.7GB
    Thanks,
    Randy

I'm trying to load ~20k songs onto my new iPhone 6 via iTunes Match, and I'm only about 1/20 along after two days
I can't even track the progress using the iTunes Store app since the app either crashes immediately upon launch or doesn't show the "Downloads" tab (if I reboot the phone, I'll see the "Downloads" tab once with a badge indicating the number of songs remaining, but after locking up the app for a few minutes, the "Downloads" tab disappears until I reboot again).
Instead, I get alerts every so often reporting "Unable to Purchase" as sync downloads occasionally fail. The only way I'm able to see that anything is still progressing at all is by going to Settings -> General -> About and observing the "Songs" number very slowly incrementing.
Meanwhile, I cannot update any apps since app update downloads appear to queue up behind iTunes Match syncs instead of being entirely independent.
I have been terribly disappointed with Apple's handling of iTunes Match.

  • Download stuck on "processing file" then when iTunes restarted, no record

I have a couple albums downloading in my iTunes. A song will download fine but will get stuck on "processing file"
    Ex. 6.1MB of 6.1MB - processing file
No other songs can start downloading. Thought it was iTunes freezing so I shut it down and restarted it. Now there is no history at all of purchasing the song or downloading it in any of the iTunes tabs.
Thank you for ANY help anyone might have!!! - Meg

  • Automatically add files to iTunes not processing mp4 files on Windows 8.1

I have iTunes 12.1.1.4 install on a Windows 8 (x64) system.  I have been using iTunes for quite some time and my library is located at c:\Music.  On earlier versions (version 10 of iTunes for example) I would drop an MP4 file into c:\Music\Automatically Add to iTunes" directory and iTunes would process this file and add to either the movies or TV Shows section.
I have not used this feature in some time but now have started to.  Currently, if I place the mp4 in that directory, iTunes does not do anything with the video.  I have gotten to using "Add Folder to Library" and iTunes will then process the directory.  I do have "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" and "Copy Files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" checked.
How can I get iTunes to recognize that a file has been placed in this directory and process it?

    Two possibilities:
iTunes has processed the file but has categorized it as "Home Movies" rather than other video kinds - in this case you'll be able to find it under that heading in iTunes.  Note that there's a bug in iTunes 12 where even if you then change the media kind - for example, to "TV Show" or "Movie" - it will be shown in the new category in the iTunes UI but the files will still be in the "Home Movies" folder under iTunes Media
If iTunes has not been able to process the file, you should find within a Not Added folder under Automatically Add to iTunes - the most likely cause of this is that the MP4 files are using a codec that is not compatible with iTunes.

  • Itunes movie hire download stuck processing

I have downloaded a rented movie from iTunes on my iPad2 and it now seems stuck 'processing' - any ideas other than wait?

    Hi RichardM58!
As a basic troubleshooting step, try simply closing the Video app on your iPad then reopening it, as shown in the following article:

  • TS1717 Itunes has been "processing file" of my down load of Badlands for 8 hours

Itunes has been "processing file" of my down load of Badlands for 8 hours. What is going on?

    Update:
15 hrs later and it's still "Processing Album Artwork".
It does that in the background so I can still use iTunes, but can't import anything else until this is finished.
I have over 100 gigs to import and it's taken almost a day to do under 10 gigs.
    Is iTunes 10 fu*kin useless?

  • Itunes processing file

Itunes is spending a long time (minute or two) "processing file" after download. This has been raised on the itunes for Windows forum without resolution.
Some people have had downloads aborted, I haven't been just taking a while.
Would be good if Apple were able to address this.
Ive turned off simultaneous download and also turned off Genius.
The incentive for Apple should be that Amazon is very quick.

I'm also having this problem though for me, I'm waiting for more than an hour for this to finish and STILL no official progress. I don't know how long this problem has been going on. I downloaded 2 tracks, each that were over an hour long (129 MB) and the "processing file" stage has 100%CPU utilization. I tried contacting support and they simply re-add it to my account so I can try again. It really doesn't solve anything if you can't process the file though.
For me, I'll stop using iTunes until this is fixed. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only person with this complaint.
Some other users have said removing verizon v-cast solved their problem, but I don't have that installed.
    I'm running iTunes version 8.2.0.23
    Any suggestions?

Try following the steps in this article, and try to go about restoring your iPod again. See if you can't get it to work...

Also, it never hurts to try to put the iPod into disk mode whenever you're going to restore it.
