Itunes getting stuck on importing photos for like 1 or 2 hours

I decided to leave it overnight and try again today - not that that should make a difference!
I started iTunes this afternoon and after a few seconds the AppleTV appeared in the devices list and started syncing as normal.
Was I panicing? Possibly. I'll let it run for a few more days but it seems that I've just experienced my first sync-glitch.

Itunes gets stuck syncing at step 2. It won't go further, and my music library is different on the MacBook Pro from the phone. What can I do?

I had this problem. I held down the power switch to power down completely. Takes a few seconds. Then use the power switch to turn on. Might take a couple goes.

I don't hav any solution, I'm just chiming in with the same problem. My iPad 2 has been trying to sync artwork all night and hasn't proceeded a bit.
The iTunes window text says:
Syncing Artwork to "<iPad-name>" (Step 6 of 6)
Waiting for items to copy
The iPad has continuously display the sync icon in the upper left corner, but as stated nothing has happened the last 8 hours!
I then tried to eject from iTunes and a warning told me that the iPad was syncing and this would cancel the operation. Knowing that the alleged syncing was not going to complete this century I continued and then unplugged the iPad.
Connecting the iPad again and waiting resulted in the same scenario, but now on a different step:
Syncing "<iPad-name>" (Step 7 of 7)
Downloading Safari safe browsing data
Waiting an hour for this still didn't result in anything.
I'm suspecting that there is something after these steps that are failing. E.g copying purchases from iPad to iTunes?

iPad 2 32GB Wifi+3G on iOS 5
Having 2 accounts on both iTunes and iPad (one very old, and one MobileMe transitioned to iCloud), both with purchases.

ITunes stuck syncing on second to last step with iPhone 4s

OSX 10.6.8
iTunes 10.5
iPhone 4s (iOS5)(does not sync properly)
iPhone 3Gs (iOS4.3.1)(Syncs fine)
iPad 2 (iOS5)(Syncs fine)
There seems to be a few threads out there regarding this, but haven't seen anyone mention if they have some devices that work, some that don't. I have tried varies levels of syncing, restoring from backups, changing iCloud usage or turning it off, etc etc. Regardless of what number of steps it is taking, my 4s is always causing a hang for several minutes at the second to last step (determining tracks to sync). I was having photo problems and hanging on that step (don't recall now, but it was fixed with the delete iphoto database mentioned elsewhere.
Is there a possibility that deleting my iTunes library completely and starting from scratch will fix anything? I certainly would prefer not to, but if it would work, I'd do it. Any other options or drastic measures, or are we all just waiting on Apple? Thanks!

Through a series of reboots of phone and mac, I was able to get most of my music synced. My two hanging points appear to be photos and audible audiobooks (maybe all audiobooks, but I only have audible). Having gotten to mostly sync, I am not going to rebuild my library since it appears to me that it would not necessarily help. Today I haven't been able to get syncing going again, even with rebooting and various unchecking. Certainly very frustrating, and silly to carry around my 3gs as a glorified iPod while this gets fixed.

Transfer all of your content to the computer:

Then try turning the device off and on again. I'd leave it off for 10-15 minutes, but that is up to you:

I also have the Mcaffe security centre so on the face of it we have very similar situations and I had not problems.
You asked what I meant about saving the installer on your PC.
When you go to the iTunes download page:

And click on download, you should be offered the choice of running the installer or saving it. You need to click on save and then choose a folder on you PC where you want it saved. But I think you already did that.
After the installer file - iTunessetup.exe - is save on your computer, you double click on it to run it.
It's very odd that the installer fails at different stages. usually when the installation fails, it is at a specific stage and usually generates an error message.
I am afraid I am mystified. Have you had any other problems with your PC which might suggest a general problem not specific to iTunes?
The only other suggestion I have is to download a fresh copy of the installer - in case it got corrupted. You could also try using "run as administrator" to run the installer. It should be an option if you right click on the installer file.
The other thing it might be worth trying is to install it from another account, but you would need to create another administrator account if you don't a;ready have one. Or if you have another account that is not an admin account, you can temporarily promote it from the control panel>>User accounts.

I searched for some solutions on the internet and applied following fixes:
1- Disconnected iphone from PC and closed itunes.
2- Reset the iphone by holding down the On/Off button.
3- Connected iphone back to PC to sync with itunes.
Apparently this fixed the problem, and iphone synced with itunes.

same here, but now you can't downgrade to iOS 7.x, since apple has closed the verification server for that version.

When i sync my iphone 4s itunes stucks

I'm using mac and i was syncing my iphone 4s normaly but now when i connect it, the itunes(10.5.3) sync it automaticly and stucks for 3 minutes in preparing to sync apps step. after that it shows a massage which says transfer or dont transfer, i choose "dont transfer" but itunes stucks again in transferring purchases step.

Itunes stuck on processing file and won't sync iPhone or iPad when connected.

I updated to Lion last week and ever since I did that I can't download new apps to itunes or sync my iphone or ipad. It freezes everytime. Everything is up to date. I can't download new apps to itunes. I can download to the phone and the ipad but can't even synch those to my phone. Any help is appreciated.

I've been having the same problem.... I forced iTunes to quit when it got hung up on one or two downloads, and then when I relaunched, they were gone from my "Purchased" list. I've tired going back to the iTunes store to re-download the files, but the button says "Purchased" and is grayed out... while the other music files that did download successfully say "Play". I've tried the "Check for Available Downloads" option in iTunes, but it says that all of my purchases have been downloaded.
I have about 10-12 songs that did not process completely, do not show up in my "Purchased" screen, and cannot now be downloaded again. Any ideas about how to fix this? Everything was working fine up until 2 days ago. I've never had a problem like this before. I"m running iTunes 11.1.3 on OS 10.6.8. Thanks.

5th Gen iPod seen in iTunes, shows sync complete within seconds but nothing

5th Gen iPod seen in iTunes, shows sync complete within seconds but nothing actually gets transferred. iTunes64 bit on new laptop. Has synced successfully for a couple weeks.
This is my spouse's device and she is away for awhile. Is she stuck or try a restore? Don't want to do that until last resort in case ipod will not load afterwards.

Itunes wont sync Music to Iphone 6 Plus

I have just purchased an Iphone 6 Plus and have tried to restore the backup from my 5S. Everything syncs apart from the music. Music I have purchased and saved will sync but nothing else will.
Searching the community posts I have followed every procedure that has been explained to no avail!
I then rest the phone to factory settings, and just set up as a new phone, I then manually added everything and again itunes will sync everything apart from the music. I can add and take away films, ringtones, pictures with no problems but Music, it just doesn't seem to be interested in anything unless I have purchased the items.
This includes me trying to manually add files as well as attempting to sync.
I have also deleted the music from the settings before attempting to sync and this does not work.
This has all started since the implementation of IOS 8. Having searched your forums this seems to be a popular problem with many reporting the same problem.
Apple can you please sort this out!!!!!

I have the same problem with the iphone 6. No matter what I do I cannot sync my music. I can download music I've purchased from Apple, but cannot sync, which means all of my other music is just stuck in iTunes. I'm going to try to call somebody, but if this isn't going to be resolved soon, my phone is going back. I don't need 128 G of empty space.

also wont remove cloud downloaded previously purchased songs during sync, i have restored the phone from my old one that was destroyed, but other than that sync pretty much doesnt work at all for photos or anything else.

After days of getting frustrated I finally found a solution: Don't use itunes to sync music. After going through pages of possible solutions (restores, syncing albums one at a time, removing all music, deactivating accounts, making a call while syncing and various other things) as well as trying to contact apple support (Which was a joke--They wanted to charge me $19.00 to get help for a problem with their software), I change my Google search terms to "how to sync music without itunes" and I found a program called CopyTrans Manager for free. It only took me a few minutes to add the new tracks to my iphone. It automatically organizes it the same way itunes would and you have the option to make your own playlists. Best of all it synced the first try! Itunes is now dead to me. Now I just have to figure out what I'm going to do with all the free time I have since I'm not going to be spending hours banging my head at my computer ready to throw my phone out the window.

ITunes cannot sync photos to AppleTV . . . unknown error occurred (-50)

Whenever I try to sync photos via iTunes with AppleTV using iPhoto as the source in the Photos tab, I get the following error message "iTunes cannot sync photos to AppleTV because of a problem on your computer. Unknown error occurred (-50)." I can sync all other media and even photos so long as do not sync it from iPhoto as a source (e.g., syncing from file folders not a problem).
I tried everything that I could think of: disconnecting and re-syncing AppleTV, restore to factory settings AppleTV and basically re-installing it, re-installed iPhoto, updated iPhoto library. I have also checked to make sure Slideshows in iPhoto are not linked to any music that may have ampersand or some other strange symbols. I have updated AppleTV to version 3.0.1, iPhoto has been updated to version 8.1.1 (iLife '09). OS is 10.6.2.
I am going crazy in trying to fix this problem but so far it is a dead end. Exporting slideshows is not a very attractive option as it takes forever. This "error" happened about a week ago when I was putting a slideshow together in iPhoto and then tried to sync it with AppleTV. First, went through without any problems, second - error message and that is where I am currently stuck.
If someone has ANY ideas how to resolve this, I would really appreciate your thoughts.

I have a podcast for my running programme on my new shuffle an access it on 'My Computer' but message on device is 'please use itunes to sync music' . In itunes I message 'cannot be synced because all the podcasts for syncing no longer exist'' Help!!

Have new nano shuffle for couch to 5K. Weeks 1 and 2 worked well but week although can be seen downloaded on MY COMPUTER doesn't play and message is 'connect to itunes to sync music' Tried to sync other podcasts but message is cannot be synced because all the pocastsfor syncing no longer exists. And the other night while i was trying to sync my phone, it was working until "Error message (-50)" started coming up every time i tried to sync or update my phone's software through itunes on my computer. eventually, itunes quit and i unplugged my phone and updated it wirelessly. i have no idea why any of this is happenings. Itunes is still acting weird for me too.

Error -50 is generally associated with firewalls or anti-virus software as described here:
