Itunes stutter on full screen

i continue to have intermittent problems with audio stutter while attempting to watch a movie  or videos on full screen....regular size sounds fine, when full screen is accessed, then the audio stutter begins....when going back to regular screen the audio clears up and plays as it is supposed to.... i am running an early 2008 mac pro with osx maverick running 2 screens and 32 gb ram.... note:  when playing youtube on fullscreen, the audio stutter is not present...only from itunes... any suggestions?  thanks!

I've had this problem ever since iTunes 11.0.x while using Front Row on Snow Leopard and haven't found a solution. What I have ascertained over the years is that it only happens to movies or TV shows that I've bought from iTunes, never with a movie that I've ripped from a DVD. So just out of curiosity is this happening to you only with movies purchased from iTunes or all??
I was beginning to think that if I upgraded to (Mountain) Lion it would stop, but it appears that is not the case.

When I open iTunes it will automatically go to full screen mode. I can't work out how to turn this off. Only iTunes opens to full screen mode.

Go to System Preferences (under the Apple logo in the menu bar).  Choose "General".  Click "Always close windows when quitting an application".
    That should fix it.

  • ITunes 10.4 full screen with Win7-64bit doesn't work correctly.

iTunes 10.4 full screen with Win7-64 doesn't work correctly. I have the Windows taskbar on the left side of my screen. Maximized iTunes is panned to the left.

Same issue here. When the Windows taskbar is position on the top of the screen and then the iTunes windows is maximised, it's position is as if the Windows taskbar is at the bottom of the screen so the top of the iTunes window sits under the taskbar.
For those wanting a workaround, hold shift and right click the iTunes icon in the taskbar/quick launch bar and click restore, at least then you can adjust it to be full screen manually.

  • ITunes movie playlist full-screen on tv for only the first one

    Hi,
I am experimenting with getting what's on my MacBook Pro (15" 2ghz quad core, bought 5/11) displayed/played on my HD TV. I have tried all kinds of approaches (XBMC, Plex, Boxee (the software version), Front Row, Miro, Serviio, TV Mobli, Twonky, and who knows what else on the MBP as well as XBMC on an older Powerbook as well as using DirecTV's Media Share) but none are satisfactory. The current approach is to connect the MBP to the TV by a display port to HDMI cable.
The problem I am having is: when using iTunes to play movies on a playlist, I can get the TV to display the first movie as full-screen but when it comes to the next one, I lose full-screen. It reverts back to the original size of the video. When I play the same playlist on the MBP display, successive movies stay in full-screen. (Of the two movies i have tested, the first is an mp4; the next one is an m4v.)
Is there any way I can get movies played on an iTunes playlist to stay full-screen when displayed on the TV?
All of my movies are things I've recorded with EyeTV or otherwise captured or digitized and most are converted to QT.  Some are flash, some are Mpegs and I may have a few other formats. Nothing has DRM. I don't have any copyrighted "real" movies; they're all little things (music videos, segment from home movies, etc)  I have put together. (Features like "scraping" with Plex for example, are completely worthless/inappropriate for me and otherwise ruin what could be a good approach to dealing with all of my media.)
I would also be curious about anyone's ideas about the best way overall to display movies and pictures from the MBP onto the TV. For streaming video I will just drag a browser window over to the TV and then go full-screen. That works for me. It is important that I keep the MBP display free for the usual computer stuff. I don't want it blacked out or otherwise made useless so any suggestion has to bear that in mind. So far I can do almost all that I want but I haven't settled on the best way yet.
I am ok with having to switch the audio output on the preference pane to the TV when I do this.
I am having one other issue: Sometimes I will lose audio half-way into one of these short movies (3-4 minutes long) on my iTunes playlist. I have dragged the movie window back to the MBP display and it still has no audio. I will then restart that movie and it will play fine on the MBP. I don't know what is going on with that. I am worried that the cable may not be able to carry audio ALL the time but why would I still get no audio when I have dragged the movie window back to the MBP if the cable was at fault? Any ideas on what is going on here?
    Many thanks.

EDIT: Please disregard the previous post. I am swimming on vicodan after surgery this morning and did not realize how atrocious my sentence structure and spelling were. Yeesh.
Not sure what the problem is. Using my iPhone 3G and component cable I watched Iron Man in widescreen on my Mitsu 62" tv but when I tried to play Journey to the Center of the Earth it will only play full screen. When I play it on the iPhone it will play in widescreen. Does anyone have a clue here because I sure don't. Thanks. Happy Thanksgiving.

  • How do I play iTunes TV shows full screen on a connected display?

I have connected my HDTV via DVI to HDMI cable and I want to play the TV shows I've dowloaded FULL SCREEN ON THE TV. When I selected full screen, it defaults to playing the show full screen on my macbook and not my TV. I just want to change it so that full screen happens on the TV, not the macbook. HELP!

You can mirror the displays as you said or just drag the iTunes window to the second display (TV). Then it will play in full screen only on the TV, however your computer screen will go black. Either way you will have no access to your iTunes controls.
If you want to use your computer while it is playing full screen on the TV, then use QuickTime Pro (not in mirror mode) and choose Present Movie, then click on the display you want it on (TV).

  • IPad   iTunes rental   TV = Full screen?

When previewing the rental movies from TV using iPad and digital av adapter (hdmi), tv shows a windowboxed image. When watching a movie from the library, tv shows full screen. Does rental movies work in full screen, or does the preview show the exact image I will get when renting?
I really don't want to pay for a windowboxed movie!
    Thanks for your answer!

I dont have that option, sadly.
I presume the feature you guys are on about hasnt been implemented for Windows users yet...
Its frustrating because "The Resistance" iTunes LP is 1280*720 px and my 15" widescreen laptop is 1280*800 so technically it should fit but it insists on putting the scrollbars in. I cant see this button you guys are on about, and the option isnt there in the view menu (ctrl + f and alt + enter dont work either).
So fullscreen option for windows users would be great (yes I am on the latest version of iTunes). I'd quite like to set the animated background as a screensaver as well but I guess I can dream on...
Also what the previous person said about the lyrics: the blurb about itunes LP when it first came out mentioned animated lyrics but they arent there in the muse one which is annoying. They have pictures of the pages from the cd booklet, but i was expecting some fantastic arty animation to go along with the song.
Its a shame 'cause I love the LP concept, but it A) has a couple of missing features which really should be there and B) doesnt cross over to my iPod classic in any way.

  • Why will iTunes start in Full screen every time (with Resume unchecked)

iTunes and iCal seem to remember to open Full Screen in their own Space when clicked from the Dock - a behavior I expect when quitting a Full screen App . When I open Mail or Safari, they won't open full screen (their last state when quitting).

  • ITunes update and full screen

OK - so I just got the latest iTunes update, and then tried the 'full screen' button - fine, but how do I get it to not be full screen? Escape doesn't work, and I can't find a window button. Help.
Also, I love that full screen apps are 'new'. Anyone remember DOS???

Tracking this to see what advice you get ... I have the same issues!

  • Windows taskbar not showing when iTunes window at full screen.

I have my taskbar unlocked so it hides when I am not moused over it. I just downloaded 10.5 and when I have the iTunes window maximized I cannot get the taskbar to appear. I have to press the Windows key in order for it to show.

I, too, have the same issue with Win 7 64 bit and iTunes 10.5 and I'm grateful to find I'm not alone or imagining this! I'm also grateful for the reminder from DiscoBiscuitz13 to use the Windows key. Love to have a solution to this annoyance but I'm afraid it'll be to revert to a previous version....

  • Why does iTunes 10.5 display full screen in OS 10.7.2?

Upgraded to Snow Lion, and now iTunes always opens full screen, i.e., the usual Menu Bar at the top is gone, in the same manner that one displays a movie full screen, except that, with iTunes, I can't "shrink" it.
    1) How do I tell iTunes to display in the more traditional manner, and
    2) for that matter, how do I access iTunes Preferences, since there is no Apple Menu selection to pull down?

Run your cursor all the way to the top of your screen and wait a couple of seconds. The menu bar should appear and allow you to click the blue icon with the double arrows in the upper-right which will get iTunes out of full-screen mode. It should then launch with a normal window.
    Regards.
P.S. To avoid potential future confusion over terminology, there is no "Snow Lion". Mac OS X 10.6.x is Snow Leopard and Mac OS X 10.7.x is Lion.

  • ITunes mini player on top of a full screen Safari page

When you make a full screen Safari page, is there any way to put the iTunes mini player go on top of this page? I did this once by accident, but now whenever I try to open iTunes while in full screen Safari, the iTunes mini player opens to the main desktop page.

    Thanks for the reply.
I'm listening to an audio podcast that's reffering to images on his sight. When you go full screen it shows the images best, but you lose the ability (space bar) to pause/play the podcast audio. It would be nice to be able to view and study the images a bit longer, but not having to keep futsing around with everything.
Is there a way to get the Mini player in the same Space as Safari?

  • ITunes movie full-screen playback broke with a recent update

A few months ago Apple pushed out an update to iTunes. After they did all of my purchased movies (and newly purchased videos) stopped playing properly in "fullscreen" mode. Instead of being full-screen, the iTunes window goes full-screen but the movie itself is 640x480 dead in the middle.
    This is horrible.
I've complained to Apple. They say to try Quicktime player. That worked ! I get full-screen. But why is iTunes broken? I can't figure it out.
To see an example of what this looks like, check out http://www.simson.net/itunes.jpg
Has anybody come across this problem? Does anybody know a solution?
Yes, I am running the most recent version of iTunes...
    Thanks!

On Windows XP, the preferences are probably located in the registry (DISCLAIMER: I do NOT know what I'm talking about here, and you should not poke around the registry unless you are comfortable doing so). That said, try the following...
    a) log onto your account that repros the problem
    b) Start->Run, type "regedit"
    c) using the tree on the left side, find an entry for iTunes under
HKEYCURRENTUSER. Do not mess with any entries under the other
    top-level nodes.
    d) Assuming you found the entry under
    + HKEYCURRENTUSER
    + Software
    + Apple
    + iTunes
Use the File menu to export the iTunes node to a REG file and save
the file to the desktop so you can get back to your current settings
if the rest of these instructions do not solve your problem. If you
can't find the iTunes node manually, you can try searching for it
using the FIND (CTRL+F, I think). Again, be careful to NOT mess with
any iTunes nodes that are not under HKEYCURRENTUSER. If you still
can't find an iTunes node, then iTunes probably doesn't use the
registry to store it's preferences and you're back to square one.
    e) Delete the iTunes node
    f) launch iTunes to see if the problem still occurs. If it does, delete
the iTunes node again and double-click the REG file you saved in step (d)
to return your settings to what they were before. If the problem goes
away, then you're probably done, but expect that iTunes has otherwise
    returned to its default settings.
    Good Luck!

  • ITunes 10.2.2.12 crashes system with full screen visualizer

Can't seem to find a useful answer.  1 year old HP Pavillion running Win 7 (fully up to date), Core 2 Quad Q8200, 64-bit, 4Mb L2 cache, 6Gb DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce G210.  A few months back I noticed that whenever I had iTunes full screen visualizer running, after about 1/2 hour or so (time varies but seems to play for a while before crapping out) my system would freeze and become completely unresponsive, requiring a hard power-down (keyboard and mouse - dead, monitor displays "no input signal").
I do not have this issue when visualizer isn't running.  Also don't see this happening (yet) when visualizer isn't full screen.
My first round with this led me to believe there was a conflict with Windows going idle and iTunes not working with Windows to keep it active.  So I disabled my idle times completely and that seemed to resolve it.  Was able to listen to hours of playback without issue.  Now, this week, it started happening again.  Play iTunes, turn on full screen visualizer, after a short while sound will stop, screen will die, system will freeze.
Not interested in rolling back to earlier versions of iTunes.  I want iTunes to work properly.  I can't use it if it doesn't work.
Ideas on what I should be looking at/for?  Video card problem?  Temperature problem?  ???
I work in IT, but not with hardware, so this is a little outside my area.

update:  it's starting to happen much more quickly and frequently - basically all the time now.  last time was 43 secs into the first song.  I can no longer use the visualizer at all.  This is the first real problem I've had with this machine since purchasing it 1/2010.
To clarify a little:  my system doesn't go "dead" - if it means anything the indicator lights are blue whereas they're orange when inactive.  It's the UI that dies - no signal to the monitor, no sound, no mouse or keyboard input, and no way to move forward without pulling the plug and restarting. Everything seeeems to come back ok when I restart, although I did start having wireless issues yesterday (a 3yr old linksys N).  Separate issue or not, not sure.
I'm thinking it's gotta be hardware related, but i've been wrong once before.
Basic out of the box box:
    64 bit Quad-Core
    Intel G43
    NVIDIA GeForce G210
    512MB DDR2 dedicated to graphics
    PCI Express 2.0 x16
    Memory:
    6GB DDR3 1066, max 8GB

  • Full screen issues prior to 11

i always seem to find myself wondering, do developers even use their own products? i would assume they do, but i keep seeing stupid workflow issues or simple problems apple was always known for not having. i wont even begin to discuss the direction the hardware is taking (underpowered mini ipad? unreparable/non-upgradable macbook pro?) sheesh, the least you guys could do is make the software work, thats what we pay for. stop worrying about deadlines so much and "make it just work" as youve always been recognized for. ever since mountain lion and full screen apps in osx, it seems as if no one ever used itunes in full screen mode. was it meant to dump you out to the desktop whenever a fullscreen video finishes playback? i patiently waited for the bug fix; though you debut an entirely new version of itunes, and it has yet to be fixed. funny thing is, it has gotten worse. to clarify, itunes is in full screen mode and i choose say, a podcast. although itunes is in position "2" in mission control (dashboard is position "0"), to the right of my primary desktop (position "1"), and fullscreen video playback appears in position "3," upon playback completion i am returned past itunes to my primary desktop. i dont know how this wasnt picked up on and fixed prior to or upon release of version 11. doesnt make much sense to me as to why i have to swipe back to itunes from my desktop to choose the next video since i was in itunes when i chose the video in the first place. in addition, ive also noticed since the release of version 11 that when a video is playing in fullscreen (position "3") and i swipe back to fullscreen itunes (position "2") and choose another video to play without stopping playback, the itunes window replaces my primary desktop (position "1"), leaves the blank grey textured background usually seen behind full screen itunes in position "2" (swiping to it only reverts you back to position "1"), and playback starts fullscreen in its intended place (position "3"). the only ways to fix it is toggle the full screen option for itunes, end the video prior to selecting a different one (which as aforementioned dumps you back to the desktop in position "1"), or quit and restart itunes. aside from the fact that no one seems to like all the "streamlining" that you did to the UI (including me; i dont get the point), i dont understand how you put in so much work in redeveloping an application that wasnt 100% prior to. yes it looks cooler, and sure its cleaner, but is it practical? the workflow is terrible. sidebars became a standard for a reason, they work. you just made a UI that requires me to click more and figure out where you moved everything. did you improve its function? did you simplify its operation? in my opinion, and i imagine many will agree, absolutely not. stop worrying about how things look and pay attention to how things work first. you are deviating from your principal business model and becoming just like all the other development companies who care for nothing but their profits and shareholders. i understand making money is any business's primary goal, but remember what got you here; remember why you have loyal customers. if you forget, we wont be around to catch you when you fall.

I just gave the 4oD site a try (using this link) with the latest runtime and I'm seeing the the scrubber bar, popout and full screen buttons.  I tried IE, Firefox and Chrome.  Could you try doing a clean install and try again?
How do I do a clean install of Flash Player?
    Thanks,
    Chris
