ITunes sudden failure

I used my computer on the 10th December to back up my iPhone 3GS in preparation for getting an iPhone 4S.
On the 12th, having done nothing more, I tried to open iTunes and all of a sudden it wouldn't open at all. I recieved the error message:
iTunes did not install correctly. Please re-install iTunes.
Error 7 (Windows error -1073741674)
I looked into what that meant and repaired a few windows .net files, which was advised. I then re-installed iTunes and got exactly the same message.
I have re-installed iTunes several times but absolutelly no change. It's infuriating because the computer was not used between the 10th and 12th so no viruses could have been picked up and now I can not activate my phone and sync it with my back up. I have also been receiving errors regarding iTuneshelper.exe.
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Lewis

I'm getting nowhere :( I ran virus checkers, spyware removers and my system is clean. I have updated all the updates that windows says I need to and I have reinstalled and repaired iTunes several more times but still no joy. I have yet to uninstall iTunes as I'm worried I'll lose my music - I can't even get into the preferences in order to create a back up of library. I have repaired and reinstalled QuickTime in case the issue lied with that but still nothing changes. Ido now however seem to have the added problem of something called 'Apple Push' no longer working either.

iTunes suddenly mentions that my iPhone cannot be synced because it needs 6.55 additional GB, although my phone still has 2 GB free of space. How can I fix this?
iCloud is off on both my phone and my computer.

It is saying that the iPod does not have enough free storage to sync all the items yu have selected to sync to the iPod. You need 2.48 GB more free on the iPod. You need either to select less to sync or delete some content form the iPod.

  • ITunes suddenly told me that my computer isn't authorized to play my purchases, but it is!

When I tried to sync my iPod the other day, iTunes suddenly decided my computer was no longer authorized to play my purchases.  Then when I authorized it, it said it was already authorized.  After clicking "okay" it took me back to the original message (the "this computer is no longer authorized" one).  It just goes round and round in circles.  I've tried several of the suggestions on here, but nothing seems to work.  Any ideas??

  • Lots of music purchased from iTunes suddenly has exclamation marks

I turned on my Mac this morning and found that lots of my music - stuff that was purchased from iTunes - suddenly has exclamation marks next to it and I get a message saying that the file cannot be found.
Since I have Match, surely the system should find the music in the cloud and simply use that to replace the missing files?
I don't know why they have gone missing - no files have been changed and they were working just fine when I shut the machine down last night.

    Hi
No it's on one of the internal HDDs in my Mac Pro and seems only to affect random tunes.
The only way I can find to work around it so far is to delete the tracks from the Mac and re-downoad them from the Cloud.
Seems very odd and is very irritating.Would be quite useful if I could simply do what  do with my iPhone - access the music from the cloud rather than locally.
Mind you I still have two tracks from a Led Zeppelin CD of mine that were in the library when I turned Match on and are still listed as 'waiting' and greyed out 7 months later...!

Right-click the big art and you will get some options to adjust how big!
Or just drag the corners/edges like a regular window.

  • ITunes suddenly needs Internet connection to access my iPhone...???

Plugged my iPhone up to my laptop this evening, now I suddenly can't access any info on my iPhone. It shows up in iTunes but just as "iPhone" instead of "Erica's iPhone" like it used to. When I click on it, I get the error message, "iTunes not connected to Internet." Well duh, I don't HAVE the Internet at home. Why on earth would iTunes suddenly need Internet access when I've been using it jst fine without it?!? I don't see why iTunes should suddenly need Internet access to identify my iPhone.
Also, I am running Windows 7 and had no problem w/my computer recognizing my iPhone until I installed iTunes. Once iTunes was installed, Windows stopped recognizing the iPhone & I now cannot get my photos onto my laptop. If I manually uninstall iTunes & it's 5 "helper programs", bingo, Windows recognizes the iPhone again. Then, as soon as I reinstall iTunes, it quits. I think iTunes is messing w/the way Windows 7 recognizes/works with the iPhone 3G's drivers. ?? Any advice? :-/
    Thanks in advance,
    Erica

You should contact iTunes Store support about that.

  • ITunes suddenly refusing connection to Apple TV

    Hi,
Problem: iTunes suddenly refusing connection to Apple TV!
I noticed that the above was occuring and checked out iTunes to be dismayed not to see my normal Apple TV in the iTunes devices list.
My problem is similar to ihttp://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1631334&tstart=0
Which appear not to have been answered - yet has "Helpful" answers available: 2 . "Solved" answers available: 1 . (whatever that means??)
The only change I've made recently is not renewing mobileme services. My mobileme user id was also my Apple ID (which should not have expired with the mobileme account). To protect the Apple ID I changed the associated email address to an non mobileme one. As an extra precaution updated my iTunes to the new account email address and verified itunes computer authorisation as well.
At the same time thinking that the Apple TV might need to have its iTunes connection refreshed I removed (as it was not working anymore anyone) the original iTunes setting and set to reconnecting using: settings>Computers>Connect to iTunes
On the Apple TV the usual dialogue appears with the expected 5 digit passcode. I then expected iTunes to pick this up which did not occur in a normal fashion. What did come up was an inane dialogue box with the following comments (the same as I had been getting before all this nonsense started):
    'Authentication required
To access this site, you need to log in to area "daap" on 0.0.0.0
Your login information will be sent securely
    Name:
    Password:'
    etc
Obviously I've tried my updated Apple ID / registered email - but they don't work for the login and there appears to be no other explanation for this (obviously I've noted Apple's implementation of DAAP, however I still can't find a solution - hence this post)
I would really appreciate a solution to this as I am now unable to use my Apple TV whatsoever

    Hi,
I am having the same problem, getting the following message when launching iTunes "To access this site, you need to log in to area "daap" on 0.0.0.0." I just recently update my OS to 10.5.6, but when I launch iTunes (8.02) and try to synch either my iPhone 3g, Apple TV or the wife's Ipod touch, none of which appear.
    Is this a know problem?

  • Sudden Failure of content services

    Dear All,
I suffered from sudden failure of the whole content services console after power fault. In the admin console, only the content services console is blank. The previous space seems to be disappeared. I have even no idea what's happening. It only returns a 404 HTTP error and the resource is not available. Another module such as Right management just works fine. Any part or log I can notice to troubleshoot the problem?
I installed the LC using turnkey method with JBoss and  MySQL.
    Millions thanks for your help.

  • My iTunes suddenly stopped working?

My iTunes suddenly stopped working. Everytime i go to open it i get the message:
    DLL C:\ Program Files\ Common Files\ Apple\ Apple Application Support\ Media Toolbox.dll
    Error 7 (Windows error 193)
I tried to reinstall iTunes by going into my Add or Remove Programs and by pushing reinstall iTunes twice but both times it didn't work.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I had thousands of songs on my iTunes account and need to restore my iPod from the backup on my iTunes account.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

    Howdy chipchap42,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you’re running into AirPlay streaming issues since upgrading iTunes and OS X on your MacBook Air. The article linked below provides troubleshooting suggestions that will resolve most issues like this.
iTunes: Troubleshooting AirPlay and AirPlay Mirroring
    Troubleshooting performance issues
    Wi-Fi Connection
If you are experiencing intermittent playback or significant network lag with AirPlay, it could be due to a weak Wi-Fi connection, interference, or the distance between the Wi-Fi router and your AirPlay-enabled device.
Ensure that other devices aren't trying to stream to the same Apple TV at the same time.
Ensure that your Wi-Fi router is set up with the recommended settings for the best performance.
Certain external devices, such as microwave ovens and baby monitors, may interfere with a Wi-Fi network. Try moving or disabling these devices.
If your wireless and wired networks are the same, try connecting your Apple TV to the router via Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi.
Use the Wi-Fi network troubleshooting guide to resolve interference and other issues.
    I hope this helps,
    -Jason

  • ITunes suddenly stopped accessing the internet

iTunes suddenly stopped accessing the internet, so can't get to the iTunes store.  All other programs running ok on my Windows 7, 64 Bit system.  Have tried Windows Program repair and then Program un-install followed by Program reinstall - neither worked.  Again, everything else works on my desktop PC.  Even tried removing the anti-virus program.  Still no luck.
Apple troubleshooting guide hints do not help.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:
