Itunes suddenly deleted my Ipod

I have a Mac Mini AND a PC, so I've been able to test that the issue is NOT with my (brand new) IPod Nano. Everything was fine, my music had been synced for weeks, no problem. Today, I bought a new MP3 album and went to sync it to my IPod; as soon as I clicked on the album, I saw at the bottom the little bar graph that shows how much of each content you have drop down to nil. Foolishly, I thought that it was a error and went ahead and synced my Ipod. Well, now my Ipod is empty. Zip. Ziltch. Nado. Hm? So I went ahead and REdowloaded the newest version of Itunes. Restarted my computer. Started all over again. It SEEMED like it was working; I was able to add the same albums back on. Yay! NOT! It started to sync and then right at the end---POOF---it deletes everything AGAIN
I went upstairs, restored my IPod to use it on my PC and REFUSED the newest download of Itunes and MAGIC, I've got some songs on my Ipod. Thus, I know that it's not the Ipod itself. So, I come back downstairs, RESTORE the Ipod to go back onto the Mac and POOF......no more music.
I also downloaded 3 albums in one day and only 2 of them made it to Itunes. When I try to move the third one over, it keeps telling me that I don't have "access privileges". Huh? I've changed nothing in setting or preferences or anything. I downloaded the other 2 albums just fine. The one that I downloaded today, moved to Itunes just fine. I've downloaded ALL of my albums from Amazon and never had an issue, (I have several hundred songs from Amazon), just this ONE CD won't budge.
I'm very frustrated that I would have to PAY someone to help me through Apple. What a racket It's clearly THEIR issue. At any rate. . . . .can anyone help me here??

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
  - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • ITunes suddenly thinks my iPod is the same as my wifes

Hi, my wife and I have had Video iPods for about 3 months now, both using the same computer and the same iTunes program of course, and have had no problem keeping thing serperated as far what each of us wants on our iPod and the automatic updating we've set up when we plug in our respective iPods, but the other, she unplugged hers, the white iPod icon and information went off of iTunes, I plugged in my black iPod, and it popped up with a black iCon but her information and the name of her iPod, not mine! Any idea why this happened or what we can do about it? My ipod won't play any songs now, I start one up, and it skips to the next one, then the next one, and so on. If I pause it before it can skip to the next song, the artwork beside the song I've stopped it on is never the correct artwork, always from another band. I'm about to try just totally restoreing my iPod and starting all over again, but how can we keep this from happening again? We'd appreciate any suggestions.

    hiya!
it's a bit of a kinky possibility, but it's plausible that you've got a weird version of this problem:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear
(it would be a "doubled" version of this problem. Windows starts misidentifying the white one as the other drive, and an ipod_control folder makes its way onto the other drive. then when you plug in the black one, you get the confusion again, Windows sees the ipod_control folder on the other drive, and ends up thinking that that's the white one.)
probably best to warn you that i've only seen one confirmed case so far of a doubled drive letter confusion causing an identity swap.

  • Suddenly cannot sync ipod on itune, suddenly cannot sync ipod on itune

Since today I cannot saw divice iPod nano generation 6th display on iTune... I used Macbook, iTune ver. 10.4.1 normally is no problem with this issue.

Since I don't have Windows XP or Windows Vista 64, I didn't try to answer your question, and there apparently weren't any other users here with this issue. Since we are all doing this voluntarily I didn't realize there was any obligation to answer your question.
And if you are using a 64-bit browser and you download iTunes it will install the 64-bit version.

  • ITunes had detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted

My brand new 80GB iPod just arrived, I plugged it in with USBbut when iTunes opens, I get the following error:
"iTunes had detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod."
I tried to restore but i get a new error every time:
"There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod "iPod". The requested resource was not found."
My firewall isn't blocking iTunes so that isn't the problem, I also tried to reboot and reconnected the iPod multiple times. Also Windows doesn't seem to recognize the iPod as no new drive appear under My Computer. I already erased my Temp-folder but that didn't help either.
    Help!

    Have you tried:
    Going to C:\documents and setting\<username>\application data\apple computer\iTunes\
and deleting the "Ipod software updates" folder then connecting the iPod to iTunes. I should ask you do download a software update from the apple servers. Furthermore, if if the iPod still isn't showing up I'd change the drive letter on the iPod.
You can do that by going to the my computer icon, right clicking it and selecting manage. From there select disk management. You should see the iPod in there. What you should do from there is right click the iPod and select "Change drive letter and paths." Change the drive letter to Q. I find that Q is out of the way and is rarely used by the OS for assigning a letter to a network device.
I'd like to see how that goes.

  • When I try to sync music from iTunes playlist to my Ipod shuffle it says the iPod is synced to a different liabrary.  It asks if I want to delete the music already on the Ipod and sync it to "this" library.  I don't want to lose the music already on Ipod.

Please help.  I have no idea why this is happening and I'm kinda new to using iTunes.  I'm trying to sync music from a playlist on my iTunes account onto my iPod Shuffle (older Shuffle).  I use Windows XP on my laptop.  When I try moving the songs to the iPod it says the iPod is synced to another library.  I didn't know I had another library (but I guess it is possible because I used iTunes a few years ago too).
The only option I get is to delete the music already on the iPod and sync the iPod to "this" library.  I really don't want to lose the music already on the iPod.  PLEASE HELP.  I'm tech challenged to say the least.

  • Is there any way to get the music from my iPod on to my iPhone. My iTunes was deleted off my computer . Anyway to recover the music?

Ok wy iTunes got deletes off my computer and I had an iPod 3 now I have an iPhone 4 And I Reyes to buy some music using the same iTunes account but it says purchased and I'm just wonderin if there is anyway I can get the music I had on my iPod to my iPhone?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer/files/docs/pics/music/etc, for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod:  File>Transfer Purchases
Once the music is in itunes on your computer, then you can sync to your iphone.

  • I deleted music off my iTunes that I don't want - Now how do I sync it up with my iTunes and delete them off of the iPod too?

I deleted random bands and certain songs that I no longer wish to have on my iTunes or my iPod. So, they're all off of my iTunes, but still on my iPod. How do I delete only the items on my iPod that are no longer on my iTunes? Is there a way to sync them so ONLY what is on my iTunes appears on my iPod?

If you are synching all music that you have in iTunes on your computer then, when you next sync, any music not in iTunes but on the iPod should be removed.

  • ITunes is automatically deleting my iPod-created playlists

Everytime I plug in my iPod to iTunes, it deletes the playlists that I created on my iPod. It's really starting to bug me... Does anyone know if there's some "save playlists" setting or something that can help? Thanks

not sure what all has happened but if you hold the shift and ctrl keys down at the same time before and during plugging in of your ipod and continue holding while using your mouse to go to edit-prefer-ipod then check the manual update box. Ive only done this once so not sure when you can let go of shift and ctrl keys thats why i say to keep holding until you check the manual box and then click ok it does work.

When you restore via iTunes iTunes will download the firmware(ipsw) file. It could be that the microwave damaged the iPod and iTunes does not know what it is.

  • Itunes has deleted all my songs from ipod

Hi, I recently tried to update my ipod which had 1,780 tunes on it. My itunes has a library of 2,500 tunes. When I tried to listen to my ipod later it transpired that I had only one tune on it. Itunes had deleted all my songs, my itrip entries, playlists, everything. I have Windows XP and a 4G 40GB ipod.

Sorry I've been offline for a while. I updated iTunes and the new songs were added in the new one. There was a dialogue box that came up saying something like "songs not saved to library you don't have authorization". I clicked on the box. Checked library and all songs are there but not on ipod. Have updated all ipod software too.
Just noticed that I have some songs in C drive and some on D. My main itunes is in D.

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
For other music you will have to get them from where you originally got them

  • Activated iTunes Match, songs on iPod that were not in computer library deleted

A few days ago I activated iTunes match on my iPod touch, iPhone 4s, iPad and my computer. I wasn't exactly sure of the full potential of iTunes match and was hoping for an easy way to get all of my music onto my new iPad. I have synced music to my iPod over the years using various people's iTunes libraries and therefore do not have all of the songs that were originally on my iPod, in my iTunes library on my computer. Activating iTunes Match has since physically deleted these songs which were not on both devices from my iPod. The songs appear to be present, as I can see them within playlists and such, but I am unable to play them when selected.
Is there a way to restore the songs I originally had back onto my iPod or is it a lost cause?

    Unfortunately the music is gone.
iTunes Match does not scan an iOS device. Any music that is on an iOS device, but not in an iTunes library which means it won't be in the cloud after iTM finishes the scan, match and upload process, is deleted.
