ITunes suddenly won't open, it's not supported by my kind of mac?
All of a sudden itunes won't open, claiming it wouldn't be supported by my kind of mac. As it has been running on this very mac for a good 6 years I find this statement off centre.
I repaired my HD and tried to download iTunes agian, but it didn't work, I can only ever download parts of the dmg file.
If anyone had the same problem and knows how to solve it, please let me know. I am quite annoyed.
Thank you!
Are you running Mac OS X 10.6.8 and which version of iTunes are you trying to install?
If the answer to the first is yes, click here and download the software.

After updating iTunes to 11.1.4 as suggested by automatic updates I get the message:
"You cannot open the application iTunes because it is not supported on this type of Mac"
Why did it let me do the update then?
How do I undo the uodate to iTunes?
This is on a Mac Mini running OSX 10.6.8 with 1GB memWhat processor do you have?
If it's a CoreDuo (as opposed to a Core2Duo), then you ave a 32 bit OS, and no... 11.1.4 won't run on a 32 bit OS.
=Downgrading from iTunes 11 to iTunes 10.7=
Back up your computer first, in case the wrong things happen.
Replace the iTunes 11 application with iTunes 10.7. I can't provide details on this since I do not have a newer computer. With mine it is very simple but I believe on newer computers iTunes has been integrated into the operating system. On mine I just go to my applications folder and drag iTunes to the trash. See below for possible suggestions on how to remove.
https://discussions.apple.com/message/20431349
Get iTunes 10.7. Apple does not keep many old version up on its web site. I always keep an iTunes installer on my archive drive so I can have access to old versions . This one is hidden but it is on an official Apple site:
iTunes 10.7 for OS X http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/041-7195.20120912.d3uzQ/iTunes10.7.dmg
You will have to rescue your old iTunes library from your Previous Libraries folder and rename it iTunes Library.itl because a newer version of iTunes irreversibly updates your library file. See:

ITunes suddenly won't open on Windows 8
Hi, I've been running iTunes 10.7 on Windows 8 just fine for the past couple months... never had any problems with it at all, until today. Suddenly it won't open. The process shows up in my task manager, but the program will never actually open.
I tried everything- uninstalled QuickTime and iTunes, downloaded and installed the newest version of iTunes 11, tried it in both Windows 7 and Windows XP compatibility mode, ran as administrator, and everything else I could rustle up on the internet. Still does the exact same thing.
Has anyone else had this problem? It's been very frustrating today and any help I can get would be very appreciated. Thanks! This worked for me although i'm not sure if it will work for you. Go to task manager (right click on the taskbar then click "Task Manager") and find all processes related to iTunes or just Apple software in general. Hit "End Task" to each of them then open them up again using whatever shortcuts you have set up. If this doesn't work, then I don't know what to tell you.

Any ideas on how to fix ipad after the new iOS 7 update? My battery will not charge, my ipad is hot to the touch, the iTunes Store won't open, and my messages on Facebook aren't showing up when I chat and pintrest won't pin to my boards.
If you have all your music on the cmputer then i would connect up my phone uncheck the Sync Music option and apply.
This should take all the music off your phone .Then you can resync the music back on to it.
If this doesn't work maybe a restore to factory settings and start from scratch is the way to go -

HT1689 The iTunes Store won't open on my iPod, what happened?
My iTunes Store won't open. When it is clicked, it just flashes back to the home screen. I restarted it and turned it off and back on, but nothing helped. This all started after I upgraded to iOS 7.
Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If no joy...
Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings. -
CS photoshop suddenly won't open after 5 years
CS photoshop suddenly won't open after running perfectly for 5 years. I do not have the original install disc.
Any suggestions? Apple and Adobe Tech folks could not help.Cris (and Tai Lao)
there was no installation of a scanner (my Canon LiDe 500F scanner
has worked just fine for years) or camera driver (altho I had
recently downloaded some pix from my nikon onto iphoto) BUT— your
idea was brilliant!--disable Twain, which I did and ps launched
successfully!!
Now, as Tai Loa predicted, I can no longer import the scanner thru
ps. Given my current work crunch that's not so terrible, but how does
one access a scanner without using ps? If you have had just about
enough of me and want to pass on that question I'll understand.
I am ever so grateful to the two of you for making my ps usable
again, but it's midnight here in NYC and I have to pack up my tent
and look for your scanner question reply at the crack of dawn
tomorrow. It's been an exhausting anxiety-ridden day but I'm relieved
and grateful that there are bright people like both of you out there,
interested and willing to help. Many thanks. -
Reinstalled Tiger and now my iTunes library won't open.
Hi. I reinstalled Tiger and now my iTunes library won't open. And I can't install the latest 10.5 version of iTunes on this Mac. How do I get an older version of iTunes that will run this library? Any other thoughts? Thanks!
This is an issue alot are facing rightnow because the quicktime bundled with itunes is more "Up to date" for now than the stand alone is. Even when its removed some of its more updated registery keys are left behind.
GO here and follow ALL steps for removing itunes and quicktime, apple updater and ipod updater EXCEPT DO NOT install itunes til you get to the bottom of the page http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976 -
System Preferences, Address book, and ical suddenly won't open
As I said My system Preferences, Address book, and ical suddenly won't open. This seemed to have happen all at once. The only unusual thing to happen lately is that my ipod was corrupted and I resored it last night. Now when I try to open these programs I get one or two bounces on the icon, then nothing. My other programs including itunes seem to work fine. There are no error messages at all.
/System/Library/Frameworks/Message.framework/Versions/B/Message (file is empty)OK, this is an important part of your basic system and will need to be restored.
First you should boot from your Install Disk and repair your disk: see Using Disk Utility and fsck to resolve startup issues or perform disk maintenance.
Then I think you would be wise to consider an Archive & Install. See Mac OS X : About the Archive and Install Feature. This should put back the missing file(s). You will also then need to re-apply the Mac OS X 10.3.9 Update (Combo), and anything else Software Update says is missing.
Post back and let us know how you get on! -
ITunes store won't open after Update - NO Error message!
Hello everyone!
This morning I updated my iTunes to 11.1 upon being prompted (when I tried to connect my new iPad Mini). I run Mac OS X 10.6.8. The macbook also updated other softwares (auto update). I restarted my laptop, and now the iTunes just won't open. The first time I click it in the dock, the icon would just bounce thrice before settling down, and then nothing happens. Upon clicking again, it would bounce just once, but nothing opens. There is no error message either.
I have tried restarting, and also tried software update for the OS. I have checked the parental controls and administrative powers for the user.
Kindly help!Jason,I used the troubleshooting link you gave and so far have 1.Fixed Digital Signing for Windows drivers.(didn't help) 2.Removing Itunes configuration files.
In this one I was told to delete the SC info.sidb file (I didn't have one of these when I got to the folder where it was supposed to be)The thing I haven't done is the mscofig.instruction. I was saving it for last as it sounded like it could really make a lot of changes to my computer. The Itunes installation icon is still on my desktop so I clicked on it and there was a link that said it would repair missing or damaged files in the Itunes software. It didn't help either. I can click on Itunes all day long and it won't open.I can't access the library either. I am going to do the last step you suggested and uninstall my security software and see if that helps. I appreciate all the help Jason. -
