Scott,
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes, currently 9.0.2. You can download the latest version of iTunes from here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.
Also, make sure the iPhone is directly connected to a high-speed USB2 port on the PC. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1286 provides other general troubleshooting tips that will help rule out a USB connection issue.

  • Itunes 8 backup problems major problem

Itunes 8 backup for Cd/Dvd goes through the process of identifying the files then at the end of this process it shuts down my computer. Does anyone know about this issue? I tried this process about a dozen times and every time it was near the end of the file process it would restart my computer (toshiba A75-S211). PLEASE HELP!

I uninstalled iTunes on an XP Pro SP3 system. The OS failed to recognize the CD with an error code 39 "The driver failed to load" etc.
I found and successfully implemented the following solution at this link:
    http://www.geekswhoknow.com/articles/top10_dvd_and_cd_driveproblems.htm
It was problem #5 in their list.
    5. Problem: XP - Cannot access the CD or DVD drive after an uninstall.
    a. Start Registry editor as in Step 4 (just start regedit)
    b. Locate MyComputer and then HKEYLOCALMACHINE
    c. Expand System->CurrentControlSet->Control->Class
    d. Click the subkey {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
    e. In the right pane, choose UpperFilters (ignore UpperFilters.back entry if present)
    f. On the Edit menu, click Delete
    g. Similarly delete the LowerFilters key in subkey {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
    h. Exit Registry Editor
    i. Restart the computer
    j. If the CD recording program does not work, re-install it and try again.

  • Sync backup problem

    Hello
This is my first around here with a question, but lotta times got help here with other's questions/answers
Before sending my Iphone to   , i've made two backups on my computer through itunes in windows 7. I've made two (really i don't know why), in one it was a full backup and another with important things only, like contacts, notes, etc.. It happens now that I can't access that full backup to get apps back too (don't know if music has been backed up too and should come back to iphone), and I can't find app downloading history either, to possibly get them back from there, as music won't be a problem, just need a little patience. Is it possible that full backup has been somehow overwritten by the second one? Any chance to get it back?
Heavily lost on this as it is the first time dealing with backups, and in iCloud I only have contacts synced...
    Any help appreciated!
    Thanks

  • ITunes Sync Backup Query

Hello All. Was wondering if anyone could help me with this
When I sync my iphone with Itunes on my PC via the USB cable the backup runs first as expected. The sync completes fine and the last backup date is displayed all correctly. If I then leave my iphone connected to my PC via USB as I often do and then sync again it does not run the backup and skips this stage. Thing is I may use my ihpone while it is connected. Maybe recieve a txt or input a calendar event. There is then something to backup so I would therefore expect the iphone to backup again with a sync. So if i run a sync i want it to backup every time no matter what. Im sure it used to backup everytime I ran sync. But now it seems it only does the first time it is connected to my PC. Yes I can click on manual backup and it forces a backup fine but I want it to backup with every time I click sync.
My aim here is to sync my phone when first connected then be able to sync at any further point such as when i am about to leave with my phone and know that further backups are all completed.
Any help would be great and im sure someone will have a simple answer for me so thanks in advance.

I managed to answer my own query with http://www.cutemachine.com/iphone-productivity-quick-tip/what-everybody-ought-to -know-about-iphone-backups/
I am sure backup always used to run EVERYTIME sync was run but at some point I guess this changed. Maybe iTunes or iOS on iPhone. Other discussions I looked in to were all stating that backup ran everytime a sync ran too so I was confused. Trust me I am easy to confuse but I really am sure it ran everytime in the past because I do watch the sync procedure most of the time so I know what is going on.
I have in a short space of time had quite a few view of this and was surprised no one was directing me. I had tried an iTunes repair and uninstall and reinstall to no avail. I guess this seemed either too obvious to them that I warented no reply or maybe people are not aware that a backup via a sync only runs on the first connect not on subsequent syncs. I hope in a way that maybe this helps others who find this discussion maybe maybe maybe.

i just backup  my itunes inoto my labtop Sonny, howere i caant locred the place was  seaved! Please advise.
    Thank yo so much!
    FYI -  not in ICloud!

Where iTunes backups are stored on your computer
The folder where your backup data are stored varies depending on the computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your periodic data-backup routine.
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac:~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
Windows Vista and Windows 7:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

  • Time Capsule and iTunes full backup problem

    Hi,
Every time I add something to my iTunes library the time capsule does a full backup of the entire library rather than just doing an incremental backup.
This has only been happening for the last month or so but it is very annoying and has resulted in my 2TB time capsule starting to delete older backups!
Any ideas why this might be happening and any suggestions on how to solve it?
I could delete all the previous backups and start again but would prefer not to have to do that.
    Thanks,
    Anthony

  • ITunes Library backup problem in Windows 7

I was using windows xp and copied the iTunes folder in My Music.
I installed Windows 7 and restored the folder in same place (My Music).
The library is back but only the names are back! When i try to listen some song it cannot find and seems i have to find one by one...
The musics are in another partition of hdd so the path of them didnt change.
But seems something different in Win7.
Is anyone have some idea how i can correct it?

Nowadays people don't back up to CD/DVD. They get an *external hard drive* and copy over their entire iTunes folder, and whatever else they are backing up.
The advantages are (1) this method does not depend on iTunes's horribly unreliable burning capability (2) you can look at the external and see that the stuff you backed up is really there. (If you want to see an unhappy person, it is when they try to restore from CD/DVD and discover that it did not burn correctly in the first place.) (3) it lets you back up your other valuable files besides your music.

  • I deleted the backup on itunes, synced again and got the error message: itunes could not back up the iphone because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iphone

I am using iphone 3GS, after syncing for few times and got the errors. I deleted the backup from Edit-> Preferences-> Devices. Then I synced again,  there was an error message: itunes could not back up the iphone because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iphone. What can I do? I have no backup anymore on ituens.

I closed iTunes & manually deleted the file which was still stored locally even though it didn't display in Preferences.  I have vista so I went to
C:\Users\{user name}\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync and deleted everything in the Backup folder (though I left the folder as is).  If you have a different OS search the apple website for the backup location.
I reopened iTunes & Synced with out a problem.  I also got the update to install.
    Good luck.

  • Itunes syncing problem...HELP!

Hello! I've got a REALLY annoying problem with my iPhone currently, out of nowhere it is crashing when syncing on step 2 the backup stage, I've looked through possible suggestions, tried numerous things but cant find a solution! Any ideas!?

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes, Sync and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Anyone else having problem with RAID and iTunes syncing photos in Vista?

    Hello,
For whatever reason iTunes can not load some of the photos from C drive. It can do it from D drive, though VERY slow. Both C and D are NTFS system, but C is a RAID 0 drive (implemented by hardware on motherboard, Intel 82801G controller). I just wander if this is something related to iTunes not working correctly with RAID drivers, or is it something else? I should say that ALL other programs and games working fine on this drive.
    Thanks for the replies.

The problem is with Windows Vista using the NTFS file system, check out this post for the official solution. This has worked perfectly for me everytime I've tried it:

  • PC related question.  How do I get iTunes to sync/backup/store to my D: rather than C: ?

How do I get iTunes to sync/backup/store to my D: rather than C: ?

A couple of options.  Do you want your whole library on the other drive or just media?  You can split media between drives starting with now, but this will be a big nuisance when you come to move your library in the future.
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.
