  • One imac, two iphones. one account has current itunes, other side will not download current itunes. Downloaded from apple website, did not help. help?

We have one imac, two iphones, two imac/iphone user accounts. My account updated itunes and the phone quite easily. The other side will not update itunes  - it shows there is an update available, then says there is not. I tried installing from the apple store. It installed, but did not change the version of itunes active on the computer (we even turned it off and on, a la Windows).  SO we synced his phone with my side - it updated the OS, but otherwise restored the phone to factory settings. (he is not happy). So I tried to restore it from a backup on his side just to see what would happen, and of course it can't because the phone's software is more current that his itunes.
So we're in a maddening loop.  Factory settings, no updated itunes, no access to the backups.

The feed is fine. The problem lies with the URL for the media files. I checked the latest episode; the file will play in a browser, and as you say on the iTunes Store; but when subscribing there is an error message that the file requires authentication.
This would happen if you had password-protected it, but that would also appear when playing in a browser. The use of PHP or similar to serve the files is asking for trouble - sometimes it works, sometimes it upsets either the Store or subscribing or both. In this case it would seem that either the scripting is throwing iTunes and leading it to believe that a password is required (though it's not bringing up the pane asking for one), or your server is reacting differently to requests from the iTunes application to the way it reacts to requests from the Store or a browser, where the protocol is different.
It's not an iTunes problem. Strictly you should be putting the actual URL of the file in the feed, not a script; and you may need to check your server settings top make sure it allows downloading in iTunes as well as playing elsewhere.

  • Two iPhones, one account, 1 iPhone creates separate "Purchased" playlist

We have two iPhones and one iTunes account. When we buy music on one phone it creates a separate "Purchased on Blah Blah's iPhone" list when synced back to the computer. The other phones purchased music goes into our regular "Purchased" list. Kind of annoying, any fixes?
    Thanks

Correct you need 2 MobileMe accounts, a family setup will be fine.

  • Two iPhones, One account. Contacts overwritten

I have two iPhones linked to one account, since using iCloud my daughter's iPhone contacts have overwritten the contacts on my phone and mac. Is there any way of getting them back? I've tried restoring but it looks like its been that what way for a while, I didn't realise because I usually make calls from favourites and most of those where also on her phone.

Sorted problem using Address Book Help on mac. I should not have underestimated how good it can be.
Just needed to attach my external drive, Open Address Book, then open Time Machine, that way I could view the contents of my previous Address Books. When a date was found holding all my contacts I highlighted them then restored. So easy when you know how.

  • Syncing two iPhones one iTunes

Ok, I have read many topics on this but I want to get it right before I do anything dumb. My wife and I both have iPhones. I have been syncing mine to my mac from the beginning. She has hers set up on her PC, now the question is she has no cd drive and wants to get music on her iphone. So I just thought we could sync hers up on my iTunes and that way she could just go forward with my computer from here on out. Well the problem is how do you keep her contacts and such separate from mine? And every time I plug hers in, my iTunes wants to erase all her content. How can I get around this issue? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Iphone will sync itunes content and pics from one computer and only one computer.
When you sync to another, it will indeed erase the content from the iphone and replace with content from the new computer.
She can sync contacts, calendars with one computer and itunes/pics with another.
Make sure that both computers are not set to auto sync. Then deselect sync contacts, calendars, etc on the mac, and select sync music on the mac.
Do the opposite on the pc.

  • Two iPhones one account

Ok, I recently wiped out my phone, my wife and I share the same apple ID but obviously two different phones and two different numbers.  Before the wipe we had no issues, now when I text her sometimes she doesn't receive them, sometimes she receives them under HER name like she is the one that sent them, and others she receives them under my name like she should.  Anyone else have this issue? Is there a setting I need to change? Also she gets messages sent to her phone that I had sent to another number, sorry I know this probably is confusing.....it's really annoying need help!!!

  • CAn You Sync Two iPhones to the same iTunes Account?

Has anyone been successful in syncing two iPhones to the same iTunes account. I am the main user of our Mac and my wife just uses it for email and internet browsing. Basically she uses my user account and therefore we share one contacts list, one calendar, one iTunes, and both use the same Mac Mail with our own email addresses. Both also want to use MobileMe.
    Thanks,
    trippj

Yes.. It is a very difficult process.. First, log into 1 computer with your account and Authorize that computer to use the iPhone. then Sync your phone.. Log out and go to the second computer.. login and Authorize then sync your phone.
    It worked for me

  • Two iphones, one iTunes account, two icloud accounts

    Hi,
I have two iPhones, one  privat, one from my company.
    I would like ...
... to have all music, apps, books bought via iTunes to be on both iPhones - use same Apple ID for iTunes account?
... seperate calender, contacts, todos - use different Apple IDs for iCloud?
Is there still a way to have all pictures taken in one common photo stream?

I have the same question.  My daughter and I share an apple account which is fine, but now I am getting some of her texts and each time I send her one I get a duplicate?  I thought I messed this up when we tried to Facetime each other and I have deleted all those options.  How do I fix it so I have my own texts and she has her own texts, I don't get duplicate texts but she can still access our I tunes account?  Please help

  • I have an iTunes account with music. My wife has an iTunes account with apps. How do I get both on our iPad2? Without syncing to just one account?

I have an iTunes with music and videos. My wife has an iPhone with music and apps. How do I get both on our iPad2?
Without syncing to just one account?
We each have our own laptops.

    Hmm.
Probably easier for me to put all my stuff on my wife's computer I suppose.
Rebuilding all those iTunes playlists is not very fun though.
And of course anything new that I want on my laptop I will have to duplicate on her laptop in the future.
Not sure how iCloud works just yet.
So you can't have two laptops and manually sync both people's stuff to one iPad?

  • Two iPhones, one MacBook - sync/backup question

Hi all, I've read through many posts, tech articles etc and still have this question...
My wife and I both got 3G(S)s about eight months ago. She backed up/synced her phone to her PC only once since then. We would like to be able to back up her phone to my MacBook now instead of her dying PC, and also load my HUGE legit iTunes library from our CD collection onto her phone. Also, she is not interested in having my contacts, bookmarks and whatnot synced to her phone.
My question is, will it be possible to use one computer/iTunes to share the same iTunes music library, while saving her contacts, calendars etc separately? Stated otherwise, will iTunes back up two separate iPhones and allow the syncing of a common music library?
Thanks and have a great day! MMM

In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced with an iTunes library on a single computer only and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first.
There is no device limit for the number of iPods, iPads, and iPhones that can be synced with the same iTunes library and iTunes account on the same computer. Each device can have its own sync preferences with iTunes and iTunes creates and maintains a backup for each device.
When syncing two iPhones with the Address Book and iCal under the same computer login account, the contacts and calendar events will be the same in the Address Book and iCal and on both devices. There is an option to sync select Address Book Groups and select calendars only with each iPhone, but the contacts and calendar events with both devices will be available in the Address Book and iCal.
If you want to keep contacts and calendar events completely separate, you need to create a computer login account for your wife. You can enable Fast User Switching to make the process of switching between multiple computer login accounts a fast and easy process. An iTunes library can be shared between multiple computer login accounts. Your iPhone's backup will be updated and stored under your computer login account, and your wife's iPhone backup will be update and stored under her computer login account.

  • Computer crashed how to sync TWO iphones on one computer?

Any help is appreciated. My PC that I sync my iphone on has crashed and I tried to sync my iphone on my wifes laptop, but she has an iphone as well. I can log into iTunes, but cannot see any of my podcasts, applications or information.
Is there any way to sync two iphones on one computer?

The easiest least complicated way to keep your info and her info seperate and not worry about things is to take advantage of user profiles on your computer (in XP)...so each of you log into XP with your own accounts, thus iTunes (and any other software like mail, etc) all have your own settings.
Otherwise, you will have to watch which account is logged into iTunes Store (click store and see what name is up top right in case you both have different accounts)...and make sure you are logged in with the right account before syncing. iTunes does know the difference between your phones so each can setup different settings of what to sync to, but your library on your computer will be mixed unless you do what I said first, use different profiles (user logins) for XP.
