ITunes sync with iPhoto

Hello,
iTunes doesn't recognize some of my albums created in iPhoto.  Therefore , I'm unable to sync them to my iPad.  Does anyone have this same issue and how did you fix it?
Thanks

I am having a similar issue.  My iPhone 4, my wife's iPhone 3GS and my iPad 2 will start to sync with iTunes on my MacBook (running Lion) and when it begins to import photos from iPhoto, I get a (-50) error and the sync quits. Some events sync just fine but others trigger the error message.
I have deleted the iPod Photo Cache, reinstalled iTunes, reinstalled iPhoto, repaired and rebuilt my iPhoto library, restored my iPhone to factory settings, repaired permissions on my MacBook and anything else I could think of or found in previous postings.  Nothing has worked.
Please help!  This is incredibly frustrating and no one at Apple has been able to help.  Thank you!

  • ITunes sync with iPhoto Problem

    Hi everybody,
i'm experiencing a tedious issue with iTunes and the iPhoto syncronization with i-devices.
I'm running iTunes 10.4 , iPhoto 9.1.5 and i have an iPhone 4 and an iPad both running iOS 4.3.5.
When i sync my iPhone with iTunes i usually chose only 3 separated iPhoto events and no problems occurs in copying the photos on the device.
When i sync my iPad instead i get the following problem:
the same as with the iPhone i choose a limited number of iPhoto events to sync with the iPad but the photos count shown in the iTunes screen is a lot different then the real number of the photos in the iPhoto events. To be clear:
Event 1 contains 300 photos in iPhoto
In the syncing screen of iTunes for the iPad Event 1 contains only 3 photo.
As a result only 3 photo are transferred to the iPad.
I tried to repair and rebuild the iPhoto library (alt+cmd+start iphoto) selecting all the options except the rebuild database from backup option. Nothing changed.
I tried to reset iphoto syncing with the iPad doing as follow:
    connect iPad
    select "don'y sync photos"
choose "Erase all photo from the Device"
    disconnect
    Reboot both devices
    reconnect iPad
    choose sync again.
    Nothing changed again
At last i tried to erase the content of the "ipod photo cache" folder as suggested in other threads in this forums but when i reconnected the iPad and tried to resync nothing changed.
Beaside that i tried even to control and repair permissions on the entire HD with Disc Utility but again i had no differences with the problem.
Does anybody experienced the same problem? There is any known solution? Anything else i could try?
Thanks everybody in advance for any support given.
    Giuliano.

  • TS3697 My iTunes stopped syncing with iPhoto

My iTunes stopped syncing with iPhoto, but I get no warning message. Just no update of photos.  I do not believe i updated anything at the time that iTunes stopped syncing with iPhoto, its possible this coincided with one of the iTunes updates and i did not notice. I cannot see any new photos or albums in iPhoto in iTunes.  How do I fix this?  I already tried deleting the iPod photo cache in my iPhoto library. No luck.  Any idea how to solve this?

Doublechecking. You've tried the following document?

  • Unable to Sync with iPhoto albums

Using iTunes 6.01 and iPod Video I wish to sync with iPhoto (5.04) albums.
In iTunes Preferences/iPod/Photos I have selected the Synchronize photos from iPhoto but am unable to select an album (Copy selected albums only is grayed out and no albums appear in the selection box). iPhoto operates OK and photos are stored on external firewire drive.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

Not sure if you are still having this problem, but I think the issue might be corrupt or malformed data being written by iPhoto to the albumdata.xml file in your iPhoto library folder.
One common cause of this is having an ampersand in a keyword (e.g. "vacations & travel") and then using the keyword in a smart album. Having an ampersand in a folder in the Finder path where your library is located can also cause this, as can keywords that use foreign character encodings.
The quick way to find out the offending corrupt data is to download iPhoto Library Manager (http://homepage.mac.com/bwebster/iPhotoLibraryManager.dmg) and then point it to your iPhoto library folder. The album column will tell you the line number of the malformed data in the XML file, and then you can open the XML file, locate the line number and see what item is causing the issue. If it is a keyword, just open iPhoto and delete it. If it is a caption or other text, delete or rename in iPhoto. Do not edit the albumdata.xml file directly, as this file is automatically generated by iPhoto and any changes you make will be overwritten. (more detailed steps on troubleshooting this issue is at http://homepage.mac.com/bwebster/Documentation/iPLM/pgs/albumdata.html)

  • I want to stop my iPhone syncing with iPhoto

I want to stop my iPhone syncing with iPhoto.
I find the business of syncing my low-res phone pics with my Mac pointless and time-consuming. I notice that even if you do sync-up - then, unplug phone from Mac and re-plug - it will ask do you want to sync up 22 pics - yes - Hey i can see these are all duplicates shall I not bother it says....
OR if you dont sync-up at the above - it means you always have to wait for iPhoto to open up and thats annoying too.
I have unchecked the 'sync with iphoto' option in itunes tabs. But this does not stop the phone from attempting the iphoto sync-up.
Why you no risson? I say..
Anyone else had this problem greatful for any fix. Thanks.

The selection under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences is for transferring photos from your computer to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process.
When your iPhone includes photos that were captured by your iPhone (stored in your iPhone's Camera Roll), or any photos saved from an email or from a website on your iPhone which are also stored in your iPhone's Camera Roll, you iPhone is also detected as a digital camera when connected to your computer. If you want to import these photos to your computer, you can use iPhoto or the Image Capture application.
To prevent iPhoto from launching automatically when you iPhone includes photos in the Camera Roll when your iPhone is connected, depending on the iPhoto version you are using, this is done with iPhoto preferences. If your iPhoto version doesn't include this preference setting, you can accompish the same with the Image Capture application - Image Capture preferences. At automatically open with, select No Application.

  • Sync with iPhoto

I just want to copy iPhoo pictures to iPod.. and it will not let me - unless I sync with iPhoto... My iPhono ibelieve is synched with my personal MacBook Pro and the image that I want to copy is on my work Mac. It is saying that if I synch with my work Mac. it will erase all photos that is already on my iPod..
Is there a way just to copy. I know iTunes music will let me do that. Is it that the iPhoto image format is not optimized for iPod.. but....Can iTunes import images from iPhoto - optimized for iPod...
    You guys still with me.??
    Help.

See here for compatible photo formats.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2335?viewlocale=en_US
However, when I try to drag the JPG into iTunes (Actually into iPOD directly, it give me error saying that it is not correct format.
You cannot load photos to an iPod in this manner for viewing on an iPod. You can store photos on an iPod (like you would any other storage device) if you drag them to the iPod using (say) finder, but they will not be viewable.
If you want to view the photos on the iPod, then they must be transferred via iTunes, and as I said previously, this cannot be done manually.

  • Camera Roll on iPhone syncing with iPhoto

I have looked through all the settings. Is there a way to tell the Camera Roll album on the iPhone to sync with iPhoto via iTunes?
It does not show up in iTunes as a playlist and I would love to sync the photos rather than having to email every camera photo I take.

  • Getting error when attempting to sync with iPhoto

I just purchased a new iPod Classic, when I tried to sync with iPhoto I get the error message "Unknown Error -50" or something close to this, I'm sure the error number is -50. Anyone have any ideas what the problem is? iPhoto works fine.

OK, I've figured out what is happening. After researching the XML file information available on the web, I found out that iPhoto doesn't actually use this file. It simply creates the XML file for other programs to use (like iTunes). The bottom line here is that I would run the xmllint utility, test that iPhoto still works (causing the bad data to be put back) and then running iTunes, at this time it still failed because iPhoto had updated the XML file with the bad data.
Running xmllint and fixing the line that it pointed out and then running iTunes allowed me to sync my photos to my iPod. For me it's a bad comment there was some unprintable character in the file that was causing the problem. The xmllint utility correctly identified the bad line and bbedit let me fix the issue (there is a bbedit setting that shows invisible characters). I haven't run iPhoto and attempted to fix the bad comment yet, I'll report on my efforts later.
Thanks to all for you help.

  • Just updated iPhone 5 to iOS 7.1.2, now it won't sync with iphoto 9.4.3

Just updated iPhone 5 to iOS 7.1.2  (from some version of iOS 6), now it won't sync with iPhoto 9.4.3 on my MacBook pro (running OS 10.8.5). I plug it in and iPhoto recognizes the iPhone but only displays a 'Loading..." message next to the 'New Photos' page.
Tried it also on my older Mac Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.8  and iPhoto 9.2.3 and same problem.
Any ideas? Already tried rebooting both devices.

I have same problem but with iPhoto 9.5.1
Photos don't get to the iPhone.

  • MobileMe Galleries created in Aperture are syncing with iPhoto

I used to use iPhoto, but switched to Aperture 3.  Now when I create a MobileMe Gallery, the photos publish to the site but don't show up in the Aperture library under MobileMe.  When I log in to the Mobileme site, I check the settings for the gallery and it says it is syncing with iPhoto.  I can change it to Aperture manually, and then it will show up properly when I go back to Aperture, but I can't figure out why it's defaulting to iPhoto.  I went  into the iPhoto preferences and removed all accounts, and there also are not any photos in iPhoto at all. Any help is appreciated.
    Nate

Thanks Richard, very helpful. I wondered why I couldn't see my old mobileme galleries in Aperture.
I have swapped between iPhoto '09, Aperture 3, iPhoto '11 and now back to Aperture. Whilst I love the ease of use and relative speed of iPhoto, Aperture's adjustments and masters/versions handling has the edge for me now that my masters collection is too big for my MBP. And with a clean install of Lion my machine now seems more responsive than it has been for a while.
Changing the setting of each gallery is a bit dull, is there a global 'manage mobile me galleries with iPhoto/Aperture' setting anywhere?

  • ITunes sync with Outlook 2013 preparing to sync runs forever

iTunes sync with Outlook 2013 preparing to sync runs forever, what is the problem?

I have updated addresses and names in the iPhone. When I sync with Outlook it takes the updated name portion, but does not pick up the address from the iPhone. The Whitepages app (pretty handy app) will update my iPhone contact list, but I cannot then transfer that information over to my Outlook contact list. This all needs to work together. Solutions?

  • Iphone 4 will not sync with iphoto

Iphone four will not sync with iphoto, error message appears. any suggestions?

Currently downloading upgrades from the "Software Updates" so hopefully that will help,
Which updates are these?  For iPhoto or for you phone's operating system?
If you plan on upgrading iPhoto it will require a purchase of the iLife 11 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com
    or
upgrading your MBP to Mavericks and downloading the latest version, 9.5, from the App Store for free.
