ITunes Synchs my iPad 2 then crashes my iPhone 4 and vice versa

I took delivery of my iPad 2 yesterday. I synched it no problem (not including the photos at this stage as that would need to be done overnight). I then went to re-synch my iPhone 4 and it crashed/Windows shut iTunes down.
I tried several times more, decided to look on the forum and deleted the iPod Cache under My Pictures. This worked, I was able to re-synch my iPhone 4 and all the photos (that were deleted as a result of deleting the iPod Cache) were reinstalled.
So far so good....until it came to trying to synch the photos onto my iPad2 overnight.....same problem occured as with my iPhone 4 - Windows has shut down iTunes again! I'm sure if I delete the iPod Cache I will then will able to upload all the photos onto my iPad - but am equally sure that when I come to re-synch my iPhone the same problem will occur and I'll be going round in circles.
The software is all up to date on iphone and ipad
Any ideas....I would have hoped that synching both machines fully, albeit with different settings (ie different music and photo files to upload/synch) would be easy. Am I missing something!?
We also synch two ipods to itunes and in the past have never had an issue - I really hope this isn't the case going forward!
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Meg thanks for the advice, I'm concerned about resetting both devices with no access to my iTunes, I've previously had issues where it would require iTunes to reset properly. Second issue is installing the same sharing app on the iPhone with no access to AppStore while I have no data on the phone. Guess I'll have to wait till I get home to access those photos on any other device... Ohwell.
I think theres an assumption made by Apple that users of iPad and iPhone would always have access to the Internet, at the very least on the iPhone. Evidently thats not the case, they just didn't think it through when designing it. Hope they take notes on this forum and release hotspot functionality on iPad, that would really solve slow BT transfer speed problem also. BT has always been slow with file transfer, not really aware of it's best use.
Thanks anyways Meg, appreciate the answer.

  • How do I get iTunes on Windows to talk to my iphone and vice versa?

Problems occurred after iTunes 1.11.4 update on my Windows 7 desktop..  I seem to be missing the Apple Mobile Devise Service and the USB driver.  I have meticulously followed the Apple support instructions for uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes to no avail.  In summary, I uninstalled the required Apple programs (note, AMDS was missing before the uninstalls), including icloud control panel and Tuneup.  I restarted.  I still had some remaining folders after restarting.  I deleted them and restarted.  I deleted the Temp folder under my User name/AppData/Local, and emptied the recycle bin.  I restarted my computer. I ran CCleaner Registry Cleaner and removed numerous Apple registry items.  I restarted my computer.  I downloaded the most recent iTunes 1.11.4.62, which was just released January 28th to fix the update issues.  I installed iTunes.  Everything seems to work in iTunes... the store, etc.. My iPhone 4s with the latest OS still does not connect/ is not recognized.  I get an unknown device in Device Manager still and AMDS still isn't present in the program control panel.  All other programs are there and seem to be working.
Note... I started this process because I originally received error messages involving MSVCR80.dll being missing.  After my first try at reinstalling iTunes all messages went away but my iphone would not connect.  By the way, my wife has a desktop with Windows 7 and the same thing occurred.  I followed the Apple support suggestions and everything was fixed perfectly... her iphone now connects using AMDS and USB drivers were automatically installed.
I have been working on this for more hours than I would like to admit.  Please Help.

Update:  I performed a repair of the OS in place, sometimes called a Windows 7 no-reformat, nondestructive reinstall.  This took several hours, but my system was then fixed so I was able to follow Apple's iTunes reinstall procedure and bring iTunes/iPhone interface back to life.  This was my last resort and one should not start with a Windows 7 reinstall.  Problem solved and all programs and data remained in place.

  • Synching Contacts from Outlook (2003) to Iphone and vice versa

Can anyone tell me how I can have edited contacts update same contact on the Ipohne and how can I get edits or new contacts I enter on my Iphone to add or change on my Outlook.  Other smartphones I had were able to perform this function.  Help anyone?

Yes, Outlook is normally where the iPhone gets its contacts when using Windows. If the contacts are on an Exchange server and you set up mail, contacts and calendar (in Settings) on the phone to point to the server it will happen automagically.
If the contacts are only on Outlook and you do not sync to an Exchange server they contacts will sync when you sync the phone to iTunes by cable. There is a one-time setup step; tap on the Info tab in iTunes when the phone is connected and check the box to sync Contacts.
BTW, this is not a copy. It is a sync. Changes made on either side are copied to the other on the next sync or via push if through Exchange.

  • TS3899 My ipad does not communicate with iphone on one of my email accounts and will not remove deleted emails that are done on the iphone and vice versa, what setting should be changed?

My ipad does not communicate with my iphone on one of my email accounts and will not remove deleted emails that are done on the iphone and vice versa, what setting needs to be changed?

It's my understanding that an iPhone can only sync with one computer. You need to choose one computer. Sounds like it syncs at work, but not at home. If you want to just sync it at home, then you have to make sure the home computer has all the info that you want on it, like music etc. Then you have to deauthorize the work computer for it to sync at home. When you connect it will ask if you want to set up as a new iPhone or restore from backup. If you don't have a backup on the home computer then either way you will be wiped clean. So any photos, contacts, notes etc you have will be erased. You would need to backup or copy your photos from your iPhone. When you connect it to your home computer, it will give you that popup message to open your iPhone files. Then you can copy those photos and save them onto your computer and sync them back in through iTunes.
For your contacts, do you use any type of address book? If so you'll want to back that up and then transfer to your home computer. For notes, you can just email those to yourself and then save that email. I use MobileMe so the contacts issue is easily resolved.

  • How do I get my iPad to show iMessages from my iPhone, and vice versa?

My iPad used to show the same iMessages as on my iPhone, and vice versa...and now it doesn't.  I don't know whether it was an iOS upgrade that fouled it up or what, but I'd like to restore the convenience of seeing and responding to iMessages on either device.  They both send and receive iMessages, but one begun on one device does not appear on the other.

  • TS4185 I can FaceTime my wife from my iPad , but she always receives my call on her iPhone( and vice versa). How can I call iPad to iPad?

receives my call on her iPhone( and vice versa). How can I call iPad to iPad?

    Charlie,
You must have a separate and individual id for each of your devices.  For her iphone it's the telephone number. For each ipad, you must have a separate and individual id also.  The ipad id's must be an e-mail address. You cannot use the same e-mail address for both i pads, and you can not use the email address that you use for Face time log in.  The folks I know, create multiple e-mail accounts on Yahoo to facilitate this requirement.  These individual phone numbers and e-mail addresses should be put into your calling lists for your Facetime accounts.
So if you want to call your wife's i-pad you need to have the mail address associated with it on your ipad account and visa-versa.  I guess you guys will need to make sure you know who's carrying which device...This modern electronic world can be a circus at times, even though it has its rewards.

Your messages may be synced with your email server, but whether you have read it or not is device-dependent.  That information is not synced.

no, there currently is no way of doing this. You can only create a second Apple ID.

  • Read e-mail in Mail appears as unread on iPhone, and vice versa, with IMAP

My Mail accounts are configured using IMAP. When I read an e-mail on my iMac or PowerBook, it appears as read on my iPhone. And vice versa.
Yesterday I changed my e-mail passwords with my website host. I updated my passwords in Mail and my iPhone too. While I'm able to receive and send messages from both computers and my iPhone, now when I read an e-mail on one device, it does not appear as read on the others.
Any idea how to fix this problem?
    Thanks!

I just noticed that moving an e-mail from one folder to another on one device will be reflected on another one (although the message still won't be marked as read).

  • Can I use my iPad charger to charge my iPhone and vice versa?? Will it cause any damage?

    Hi
I have an iPhone 4S and iPad 2 and have been swapping the chargers about when charging. Now a friend tells me that this isn't good and I should use the specific charger for each. Firstly, is this right??
Secondly, I now no longer know which charger belongs to which product. Does anyone know the voltage for each?? (I live in the UK, not sure if this would make a difference).
Thirdly, I also have a MacBook Pro. Can I charge my iPhone and iPad from this without causing damage?
    Thanks in advance
    Ben

iPad charger: 10 or 12W (Apple uses Watts)
    iPhone charger: 5W
The iPad charger looks larger than the iPhone one. Additionally, the iPad charger can be used with an extension cable, unlike the iPhone charger. You should notice that the iPad charger has a detachable plug.
It is more than safe to use an iPhone with an iPad charger. I don't recommend the other way around (using an iPad w/iPhone charger) but the iPad 2 doesn't syphon power like the iPad 3/4 do.

    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem

Okay, you are using Windows 7. What version of iTunes do you have. Please don't tell me the most current one, go into Help then About iTunes and read what it says.

3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app is not stored with the app. Each app has its own "sandbox" available on the device where the app settings and data created and stored by the app is stored. If you delete an app from your iPhone or iPad, this also deletes the app's "sandbox".
3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app is included with your iPhone's backup and with your iPad's backup, which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process for each device with the backup for each device stored separately on your computer. 3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app is not synced. When installing an app on your iPad that is currently installed on your iPhone, this does not include the settings and data created by the app on your iPhone with the app's installation on your iPad, and vice-versa.
