Itunes Syncing/Music Purchases

I always buy music on itunes on my phone, I recently backed my phone to my mac and now I can not play the album I bought prior.

Make sure you're signed into the iTunes Store using the same accoun tthat you used to purchase the tracks.
You can find out by following along with this Apple doc -> iOS: Changing the signed-in iTunes Store Apple ID account

  • 8.1 won't sync Music purchases from my iPhone back to my iTunes Library

I have run into three issues since installing iTunes 8.1.
The first was the problem syncing Calendar data which many other folks have reported and which I resolved by setting iTunes to overwrite the Calendar on my iPhone at the next sync.
The second is that I have purchased songs from the iTunes Music Store app on my iPhone and iTunes 8.1 doesn't seem to discover these songs during the sync process and they don't get copied into the iTunes library on my Mac. I never had a problem with this before in iTunes 8.0. The only thing that's changed is installing v8.1. So I currently have no way of backing up any tracks purchased on my iPhone.
The third issue is that syncing with my iPhone is generally more sluggish then it was in iTunes 8.0 - it takes longer to sync and the progress information in iTunes on my Mac is out of step (the spinning progress wheel next to my iPhone in the Devices pane disappears about 30 seconds before the progress at the top says that the sync has finished - in iTunes 8.0 these things happened at the same time which was reassuring).
Not being able to sync items purchased on my iPhone is a serious issue for me.
Does anyone know if I can revert to iTunes 8.0 safely (i.e. were any changes made to the iTunes library xml files or any supporting files in 8.1) - I have a Time Machine backup of my User Account from before the upgrade to 8.1 and I have only purchased a few tracks on my iPhone (not on my Mac) since.

I'm having the exact same problem with iTunes 8.1.1. I purchased one song from the iTunes Music Store app on my iPhone, now it won't sync (transfer) to iTunes on my iMac. Guess I need to downgrade too.

  • Cannot sync music purchased on AppleTV to iTunes with 2.0.2

Prior to 2.0.2, music purchased through AppleTV would sync just fine with iTunes (Windows XP). Now, music purchased through AppleTV after I updated to 2.0.2 does not sync with iTunes, nor does it show up in the "Purchased on AppleTV" list in iTunes. Interestingly enough, an interactive booklet associated with one of the albums synced just fine while the music did not.
I've authorized, deauthorized, logged out, logged in, updated iTunes, pretty much everything I can think of. I'm using a wired network and have disabled all firewalls. The purchased music lists and plays just fine through AppleTV.
Not sure if this is related to the other recent sync problems I've read here. Any ideas?
    -Ben

The lack of an ability to browse AppleTV files and drag and drop into a folder/iTunes or wherever would be so handy in situations like this. If you have a technical issue like this and things won't transfer 'automatically' theer would seem to be no way to pull them over manually.
A couple of weeks ago I came home to find all my synced material and direct AppleTV purchases deleted from AppleTV - I had done nothing to cause this and the box was empty of media - fortunately the purchass had synced back the night before automatically, but had they not done so I would have lost them.
I haven't bought anything via AppleTV since. It's fine to purchase via iTunes but defeats the point of Take 2 user interface, and you couldn't rent HD via iTunes either.
I would send some feedback to Apple about this occurrence as it is not a good user experience that makes you trust AppleTV's purchasing and reverse syncing to iTunes. How on earth are you supposed to listen to purchasdes on an ipod/PC/Mac/iPhone if they're stuck on the AppleTV?

  • Is it possible to sync music purchased through my husbands iTunes account to my iPhone?

Hi, I am trying to sync music from my husband's iTunes account to my iPhone 4.  I have been able to sync photos in the past with no problem.  However, when I connect my iPhone to his Mac and try to sync the music I get a message that all music on my iPhone will be deleted and replaced by the music being sync'd.  Is there any way that I can copy music from his library without loosing the music I've already purchased?

You need to get your husband's music into your iTunes library, once there, you can sync it to your phone. The easiest way to do this is through home sharing:

  • ITunes Sync-- Music-- Artists List AFU

I have edited the artist names a few times and the artist listing under the sync music tab still has all the old name listed.
As an example: "Alan Jackson" was edited to "Jackson, Alan"
How do I clear out the old data?

    Hello Kim
You should be able to move your mouse in that section and then scroll up and down to see what you want to select to move over. Alternatively you can look at your main iTunes library and then drag and drop the music that you want to your iPhone.

  • ITunes syncs music that has already been loaded on my iPod?

For a while now, every time I sync my ipod (160 GB Classic)to iTunes on my Mac it syncs music that has already been synced on my iPod many times before. I've noticed it's usually the same set of songs every time, and I've checked the files to see if there is any reason why it would be doing that, but they are the same as everything else.
Any particular reason this is happening?

Not a clue, but it's happening to me, too. I have a 1st generation iPod Touch (16GB) and I get the same 15 songs synced every day I sync. It doesn't seem to happen every time, but pretty much every day. For example, if I sync twice while having the iPod plugged in (maybe after updating due to an application update, I might update again just to make sure everything worked.) Then the update is very quick with no backup or problem with the repeatedly synced songs. //sorry for the ramble.// Anyone else having this happen?

  • Why doesn't my iTunes content show in Library? Also, How can I sync music purchased on my iPhone to my PC's iTunes Library?

I have been having several annoying problems with iTunes for the past several months...
    1) Library content not showing after folder relocation:
First, in order to free up space on my C drive, I wanted to relocate my iTunes folder to a new 1TB hard drive (F) I installed. I did so according to Apple's instructions online, but despite setting the new location to be my library in my iTunes preferences, the content never shows up in the iTunes Library in the actual application. This is my most annoying problem, so please someone help me to resolve this! Thanks.
    2) Albums purchased on iPhone 5 only sometimes sync with PC
I have purchased a few albums on my iPhone 5 and only some of them have synced to my PC when I connect my iPhone via USB. They don't even appear under the "Purchases" playlist in the iTunes Store. So, I have content right now on my iPhone that I can only access via my iPhone, and some of the music has gone missing. One or two tracks from albums are not there despite me purchasing full albums at a time... This is also pretty dang annoying and prevents me from trying a solution I'd looked up to fix my third problem...
    3) Album artwork mixed up/mismatched on iPhone 5
This is pretty self-explanatory. Ony day my album artwork decided to play musical chairs. So now, for example, it shows Andrew W.K.'s bloody face when I listen to Zedd, and shows Skrillex when I listen to Symphony X. I read online that if you desync your content on you iPhone so that none of the music is there any longer, and then resync content from your computer, it will fix this issue. I'm hesitant to apply this solution until I can fix the ones above though, because I don't want to lose content that I have legally paid for.
    My final problem:
    4) Apple charges $20 for a support phone call for iTunes
Seriously, WTH? I hope the community can help me out. Thanks all!

    1) The best way to relocate the iTunes library folder is to move the entire iTunes folder with all subfolders to the new path, then press and hold down shift as start iTunes and keep holding until prompted to choose a library, then browse to the relocated folder and open the file iTunes Library.itl inside it.
If you've done something different then provide some more details about what is where and I should be able to help.
    2) Purchases on the device should automatically transfer to a Purchased on <DeviceName> playlist, but it my depend a bit on whether automatic iCloud downloads are enabled. If there is a cloudy link then the transfer might not happen. You can use File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. In iTunes you should also check out iTunes Store > Quick Links > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer.
    3) Backup the device, then immediately restore it. In some cases you need to add a restore as new device into that equation. Obbviously not to be attempted until you're sure all your media is in your library. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device should it be needed.
    4) I believe there is complimentary 1 incident 90-day support with hardware purchases, but no free software support for iTunes itself. AppleCare gets you a different level of support.

  • HT1386 I can't sync music purchased with an iTunes gift card to my iTunes on my PC?

I received an iTunes gift card for Christmas and bought a few albums with it but unfortunately after authorising my PC and syncing my music these albums aren't appearing in my iTunes, yet, my other albums that I purchased with money are? Can anyone help solve this problem please? I'd like to put the albums on my iPod and can't :(

    Hi lozdot,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The first step would be to try to download your purchase again on your computer:

  • Why does Itunes sync my purchase transfers to the wrong hard drive?

I'm running windows 7 with a 64gb SSD boot drive and 1tb data drive. My boot drive is almost completely full. I installed itunes on my data drive and set the preferences to sync media to the data drive as well. I plug in my old ipod to tranfer purchases before an update. The tranfer never finished because it synced all of the data to my boot drive and now my boot drive is completely full and the data is nowhere to be found. I recently had the same problem with it syncing an iphone backup to the same drive, but I found a work around for that. Why does Itunes instist on loading stuff on the boot drive? How can I redirect it? This is simple preferences that should be available to change, but simply aren't.

Your phone connected, iTunes running, under the Music tap, make sure there are no checks in the boxes labeled "Entire Music Library", & "Automatically fill free space with songs":

  • Itunes sync music to ipod but music not visible in ipod once disconnected

    Hi,
my ipod nano refuses to show any songs I've synchronized.
it all started last week, I connected the nano to charge the battery and change my music selection.
Itunes (v 8.1 (50)) told me something like it had to erase the ipod for some reasons. I didn't care, all music in on itunes anyway so I did it.
I click on the Ipod device.
On the summary tab, I have the "sync only checked songs and videos" (and "manually manage music and videos" is unchecked)
    I click the "apply" button
then I add some playlists (from the music tab), select a few playlists
I can see the sync happening, it tooks a few minutes and I saw all the audio files being copied over until I see "iPod sync is complete"
the capacity now shows 2 gb for audio
I disconnected the ipod and browse my music but the ipod says there is no audio at all.
I reconnect the ipod to the imac, I browse the music from the device in itunes and I see that all music is greyed out.
In the summary tab of the ipod, I uncheck "sync only checked songs and videos" and check "manually manage music and videos" and click apply
songs are not greyed out anymore in itunes but when I disconnect the ipod I still can't see any music on the ipod.
I bet this has to do with the itunes update I installed a week ago.
I only use my ipod with my imac, no other computer and it was always working fine until last week.
What is going on? Can anyone help?

I have the same problem: and have not been able to get an answer. Please keep posted if you get an answer

  • Syncing music purchased on iPhone

I have purchased a few songs using my iPhone. When I connect my iPhone to my computer it does not autoamticcaly ask to transfer purchased content. I am set to manually manage music. Is that causing the problem. What do I need to do? Thank you.

I did and it said the computer is already authorized. What else can I try?
If you have more than one AppleID, authorize the computer with the account used to purchase those songs from the iTunes Store.
You can also check your iTunes Store Purchase History, that will tell you if the songs were purchased with the AppleID you are currently signed-in with. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2727 will walk you through the process.

  • Iphone4 and windows 8 issue with itunes syncing music

I am trying to add more songs to my iphone 4.  when i add folder to my library and try to transfer it to the current playlist, it won't let me.

Is this the computer the device normally syncs with?
    Is "Manually manage media" enabled?
iTunes is designed to synce media to the device.  What is described above is not syncing.
To sync content, connect the device.
Select the device in the side bar.
Select the appropriate tab at the top for the type of content to manage.
Select the content in question desired to sync.
    Sync.

iTunes is not syncing new music from CDs that I've downloaded only syncs music purchased from iTunes. Is this on purpose? Or another flaw with updates? Anyone have suggestions or fixes?

I'm having the exact same problem, a total pain in the a$$. I tried restarting my computer and my iPhone to no avail. I have a MacBook pro and iPhone 4S and both are totally up to date software-wise. I would really like to listen to my music though.....
