ITunes syncing my podcasts to a different iPod

We have an iMac running Mac OS X (Tiger). I have a 5G 30GB iPod and my son has a 4GB Nano. Each of us has our own account (mine is the admin. account) and our own separate music libraries in iTunes.
Once when I was working under my account, I wanted to charge his Nano's battery. When I plugged it into our Mac, I got the message stating that his iPod was synced to another account. My options were to either erase his Nano and sync it to my library or to cancel. Naturally, I selected "CANCEL". But interestingly enough, the podcasts I subscribed to started to sync to my son's Nano. Once the sync was complete, I checked my son's Nano and, sure enough, there they were.
So, not wanting my 8-year old to hear the exploits and musings of those wacky madcaps at "beer.com", I logged off my account, logged on as my son, plugged in his Nano, synced up with iTunes, deleted the podcasts from iTunes, synced up again and finally set the parental lock to disable podcasts. All is well.
Now whenever I plug in his Nano to charge it when my account is active, the same message comes up as before. When I select "CANCEL", iTunes still shows the podcasts syncing to my son's Nano but (as near as I can tell) they aren't actually getting there. I still make a habit of checking just to make sure they don't get there.
My questions are: Have I got something set wrong somewhere to cause iTunes to try to sync podcasts to my son's Nano, or is this just the way iTunes works? Why does iTunes show podcasts syncing to the Nano when I have both disabled podcasts on the Nano AND selected not to sync it to my iTunes library? Is the parental control to disable podcasts only a part of the iTunes software and not the Nano itself? In other words, can my iTunes library not tell that my son's Nano is not supposed to get podcasts, or is syncing podcasts simply based on the iTunes settings for the active account irrespective of whose iPod is plugged in at the time?
Right now it is not a big issue as all podcasts are currently disabled on his account. If he ever wanted to subscribe to some more age-appropriate podcasts, however, then I assume I'll be able to set something somewhere to keep the more adult-themed material from getting on to his Nano irrespective of whose account is active when I plug in his Nano to charge it. The other options, of course, are to only plug in his Nano to the Mac when his account is active or to charge it from a plug-in.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me on this issue.
  Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Sorry I forgot to ask How. Do I export the library? When I choose this my only choice is a .txt file. Or do I backup the whole library.
As much info. as possible would be appreciated
Thanks

My podcasts will no longer sync with my ipod classic. Also when I tried to sync in itunes, the category "podcast" disappeared under my ipod listed in itunes.

Are you sure your iPod Classic is configured to sync podcasts to your device?  You'll want to double check by taking a quick look at your iPod's Podcast configuration tab in iTunes.
To access this tab, plug your iPod in and click on it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes when it appears to bring yourself to the iPod's Summary tab. Now locate the Podcasts tab and select it.  Under this tab you can configure how and what podcasts are synced to your device. If you make any changes, be sure to click theApply button in the lower right hand corner.

  • HT1386 I can't sync my podcasts on my new ipod nano 6th gen

I can't sync my podcasts on my new ipod nano 6th Gen. Music syncs just fine.

In iTunes, when your iPod nano (Hhhmmm! This is the iPod Touch forum, but never mind) is showing in iTunes, look on the Device/Podcasts pane and choose the Sync Podcasts options that you want.

Try disabling any and all A/V or Security software being used by your system and see if that helps.

  • ITunes syncing the wrong songs to my iPod

I have recently been trying to sync my iPod with my iTunes library, and have been repeatedly failing. After slowing the process and attempting to do it a few songs at a time, I noticed that it was including songs I had not asked it to include. While trying to sync the songs I hadn't asked for, iTunes froze, mid-sync. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, has anyone found a solution?
    Thanks.

if you want to add songs they must be checked, put them in asong list as it makes them easier to manage

Suddenly, when I download video podcasts from iTunes app on my iPhone they are not showing up in my iPod videos.
    Anyone else having this problem?

I had this same problem. I had to delete iBooks, then reinstall it from the app store. When I opened iBooks after the reinstall my book was waiting there.

  • Itunes syncs library but doesnt show on ipod touch

It's been a nightmare and a half trying to work with this mac and ipod touch, and i'm this close to throwing both out after taking a hammer to it.
I have whole library of songs on my itunes, and i can't seem to get the library to synch to my ipod touch.
I plug my ipod in, and itunes recongizes the device with my name.
    i go to the tab/button >Music
select and check >Synch Music, then choice >Entire Library (i have tried the other choice, >selected playlist etc etc)
scroll down some and click >synch
and here's where it goes stupid
The blue bar for audio NOW SHOWS UP.
It does the Step 1 or 6 synching process really quickly, like seconds
the blue bar disappears, and nothing turns up on my ipod
i can play the audio files in itunes perfectly fine, but moving it from there to my ipod is not connecting.

  • Itunes synced my daugters music to my IPOD

Recently I had to put my daughters and my itunes accounts on the same computer. Her music and mine merged into one library. We cleaned them both up and she has been downloading new songs with no problem. Last night, I signed into my account and pluged my ipod in to charge. When I ejected it, it had all her music. All my songs had been erased from iTunes and replaced with hers?????? I dont understand because we had 2 seperate accounts on the same computer. Can you not do that?? Is there any way to get my songs back or do I simply have to give itunes more $$ to repurchase my tunes?

I'm not sure what happened?!? I had my account on my computer. I plugged my daughters ipod into my computer and when itunes opened i signed out of my account and then signed in under her account. At some point itunes asked about merging her songs with the library and i thought i answered no but the next thing i know they all merged into one library. I did this in February and hadnt used my ipod until last night so the exact order of how that went is a little blurred.
Then last night when I plugged my ipod in for the 1st time since that happened ... I signed in, plugged it in to charge, left the room, and when I came back I noticed that itunes showed all my daughters music. I never deleted any music off of itunes. In fact when all the songs merged on my daughters ipod in feb we deleted them off of her itunes account but i did look at mine and they were there.
Gosh .... who knows that was so long ago that I cant remember. I was pretty sure that I had gotten onto my itunes since then to just look and that my songs were there. Maybe they werent??
but, I dont understand why her account and mine merged anyway?

  • Can i load two different itunes on the same computer for two different ipods?

Can I load two different itunes on my computer for two different ipods?  Or how can I get it so that when I click on itunes, only my songs come up and not my wifes?  And the same for her.

Yes.  The simplest way is to have separate Windows accounts for each user.  When either user runs iTunes, he/she will have a separate library with distinct content, playlists, etc., and can sync individual iDevices as needed.

  • I would like to re-sync a podcast that is on my computer.

With the new version of iTunes I cannot figure out how to re-sync a podcast edition to my ipod. I listened once but would like to play it again however it has been automatically removed. I knew how to do this in the former version but the new one is not the same.

OS X is NOT compatible with Blue Ray so no you cannot watch Blue Ray movies. You should however be able to take non Blue Ray movies, pop them into the Superdrive and watch them.

  • Some, but not all, podcasts existing on the iPod no longer appear in iTunes. Different podcasts have been affected at different times, after changes in the state of the iPod. Only podcasts are affected.

I have not seen this precise issue addressed anywhere. I don’t know if it’s an iTunes or an iPod problem:
    - Some, but not all, podcasts existing on the iPod no longer appear in iTunes;
this, after normal behavior for more than a year since purchase of the iPod.
    - Different podcasts have been affected at different times, after changes in the state of the iPod.
    - Only podcasts are affected.
    - This concerns an iPod nano 6th gen. and iTunes 11.0.2 (26) on System 10.6.8
    - The only change to iTunes, the Mac, or the iPod is that just before this condition began
I’d begun syncing an iPhone via iTunes.
I sync manually (“manually manage music and videos”). The first time this happened, I wanted to delete seventeen podcast episodes (all belonging to one podcast) existing on the iPod — but they didn’t show up in iTunes. I tried re-downloading them and re-syncing, to see if the new versions would somehow “re-link” to iTunes. They didn’t. Only one — new — episode appeared in iTunes.
I ultimately reset the iPod and manually resynced all the podcasts I currently had on iTunes. That worked, though I had to painstakingly add in all the other content deleted by the reset.
So: after that reset and manual sync, all podcasts and episodes on the iPod were visible to iTunes and I was able to delete the podcast and its — now 18 — episodes I’d wanted to get rid of to begin with. But the next time I connected the iPod, only 8 podcast episodes out of 21 episodes total existing on the iPod were visible to iTunes. These are different podcasts; I’d deleted the original “invisible” ones.
By “visible,” I mean in the “Podcasts” list view under “[name]’s iPod” in the iTunes sidebar. If I select “[name]’s” iPod in the iTunes sidebar and the “Podcasts” tab, all podcasts and episodes are visible, though greyed out because I’m set to sync manually. It’s unclear to me if these are the podcasts on the iPod or those currently in iTunes, as they are currently the same. If I switch to syncing automatically, all content on the iPod will be lost again, so I’m not up to trying it at the moment.
As I said,  this involves only podcasts. All other content on the iPod does appear in iTunes.

I have the same problem- i see my movies in the ipod section in itunes and they even show as mpeg4 in the 'kind' section but they dont have that small TV icon next to them. if i play these in itunes, they play fine- but try playing them on the ipod and all you hear is the sound and no picture. All videos that i manually transfer work fine in the beginning- its when i hook up the ipod to the comp again and start itunes- they start showing up without the 'tv' icon!! i have to again transfer them from the itunes library to activate them as videos.
    Need Help!!!

  • How many different iPods can I sync with my single iMac user/iTunes account?

    Good Day to All,
Can anyone tell me how many different iPods & iPhones can I successfully consistently sync/integrate using my one "user account" in iTunes on my iMac? This ist situation:
I have always (and only) synced etc. my iPhone with my one iTunes UID which is under my ONE "User Account" on my  iMac. Recently, my elderly folks gave me 2 iPods they have never used. One is a little silver 4GB shuffle (the little guy with a built on "belt clip" & it verbally tells you what song and artist is playing. The other is also an iPod shuffle ( only 1GB), also has the metal "pinch to open; belt clip"; also no display, however it came with a little USB Dock and THIS ONE has all of the user controls on the face of it in a circular patter of course..
To have COMPLETE successful "interaction/integration/syncing" etc (with no issues/complications etc) with my iTunes currently and previously only used with my iPhone, do I have to create two new additional "User Login/accounts" on my iMac (one for each iPod) to have all three if my devices work perfectly fine, or can I just use my same iMac login (UID) & iTunes that I use with my iPhone and have no worries?
(ie: I created my girlfriend her own iMac login UID which she has always used for backing up/syncing etc her iPhone with HER iTunes library etc)
In short, does iTunes have the ability to have multiple iPods & my iPhone under my one existing iTunes account AND using the same single iMac login/UID I've always used with my iPhone?
Obviously, I know I could create an iMac login for my mom's, another for my dad's & create them both their individual iTunes accounts, but they really don't want to have to worry about dealing with all that. I'm teetering between just treating them as my iPods and mixing/adding their limited CD's into my library (again, if iTunes allows multiple iPods etc as explained above..
OR; my other thought would be (again, if one iTunes account can integrate the two iPods as seperate devices and to just create ONE iMac UID login and ONE iTunes account under my dad's name, and use that one account for both of their music, both of their iPods, importing their CD's into the same iTunes library, then when syncing etc. just doing selective transfers/sync's of the specific music for each iPod... Even then, will iTunes be able to differentiate the two as far as backups/restored etc? I think  answering my own question as I type due to the cloud... For completely individual cloud interaction/integration, I would def need to create each of them their own iTunes accounts, otherwise they will have all of each other's songs on their devices.. (ie: And my dad def doesn't want to worry about skipping over my mom's Journey or Aerosmith tunes to get to his Willie Nelson and vice versa for example.
(Sorry sooooo drawn out; thinking outloud) I guess it seems obvious that since all their digital music has to be on my iMac, I really should create them each their own iMac UID login as well as their own individual iTunes Acounts to insure cloud services work easily for restores/backups etc...
Thanks for stumbling thru my thought processes here (if I didn't lose ya long ago); I'm exhausted and throwing thoughts at the classroom board to see what sticks.... The best easiest way that is.. (The two aren't always the same obviously!)
Thank you all for your precious time and consideration and most if all; YOUR PATIENCE!! Any confirmation if the options and suggestions are greatly appreciated. You know, gotta take care of the folks & what is the simplest for them as just end users is the most important or they'll NEVER bother with them in the end...
    Respectfully appreciative,
    DB

You can use as many iPods with one iTunes library as you want.

Upgrade to Snow Leopard - it's compatible with the latest version of iTunes, and still supports PowerPC applications.
    $19.99 - http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Snow Leopard is required if you wanted to upgrade to Lion, anyway, which you may want to in the future if the latest version of iTunes no longer supports Snow Leopard.

  • Why won't iTunes 11.0.1 sync my Podcasts to my 3rd Gen iPod Touch on IOS 6.0.1?

Why won't iTunes 11.0.1 sync my Podcasts to my 3rd Gen iPod Touch on IOS 6.0.1?  I'm running iTunes on my MacBook with Mac OSX 10.6.8.  I've checked to make sure in iTunes that the Podcast Sync box is checked and it is.  I've tried checking communities and tried several suggestions and nothing seems to work for me.  Everything else syncs except Podcasts.  I can't figure it out. Any suggestions to get Podcasts syncing to my iPod Touch again?  Thanks!

One other step I've tried was removing and completely reinstalling the playlist to the iPod. That cleared up the problem for about two days.
