ITunes syncs ALL episodes of a podcast

I am subscribed to the CarTalk podcast which is a subscription through audible.com For some reason, even though I have it set to only sync the latest 3 episodes, it syncs all of them, taking up a large space.
I've even un-checked the older ones and set the "Only sync checked items" option, and it still syncs ALL of them
What can I do? Or what am I doing wrong?

Chances are that iTunes does not have ALL the old episodes of this show, but you can get whatever it does have by right-clicking on the title of the podcast in your Podcast library and choosing "Update Podcast." After a moment, all old shows that iTunes knows about and which you have not previously dismissed will appear in light gray with "Get" buttons next to them. Just click the "Get All" button above the list.
If you had previously cleared this list but now want another chance to look at it, the only way I think you can see it again is to unsubscribe from the podcast, then resubscribe.
For older shows iTunes doesn't know about, look for them on the producer's website. You may find an archive there. Chances are good that if you download the shows from the producer's own site and drag them to iTunes, the files will have the right information inside them to make them appear in the Podcast library alongside current episodes.

  • No option to show all episodes of a podcast.

My itunes no longer gives me the option to show all episodes of a podcast when right clicking on a single podcast episode in the library.  I have an option to show old episodes, but not to show all, leaving current episodes unobtainable.

I have the same problem.  I don't want to subscribe to all the podcasts I listen to regularly, I want to pick and chose. Now there is no option to show all the episodes so I can download only the episodes I want.  A must when you are running out of space on your iPod.  Removing that option is ridiculous.  Terrible, Apple.

  • WHY ITUNE SYNC ALL APPLICATIONS IN THE IPAD EVERYTIME THE IPAD IS CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER?

I HAVE BEEN USING MY IPAD 2 FOR TWO WEEKS. LAST NIGHT, WHEN I CONNECTED MY IPAD WITH THE LAPTOP, THE ITUNE STARTED TO SYNC ALL APPLICATIONS IN THE IPAD. I TOOK ALMOST 6 HOURS TO FINISH THE SYNC. THIS AFTERNOON, I TURNED OFF THE IPAD, THEN TURNED ON AGAIN. WHEN I CONNECTED IT TO THE LAPTOP, SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN.

You need to restore your iPad but do not restore from a backup, restore as a new device otherwise you will transfer all the same apps again. My guess is one or more are not compatible or corrupted.

After you have restored as new, sync 5 apps at time then test the iPad. Process of elimination.

  • After a forced restart, itunes lost all apps, music, and podcasts.

After I force started my pc while itunes was open, the next time I opened itunes it had started anew. All my music, apps, podcasts, and shows were gone. Is there any way to get my media back without importing and downloading everything I had?

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • Can iTunes show all of an enhanced podcast's written content?

Is there a way to see in iTunes the all the written content (descriptions often including hyperlinks) that I can read when I playback a podcast on my iPhone?  If not, do you know of any software that will do the job?  I just find it annoying to have to transfer an enhanced podcast such as this one to my iPhone if I don't want to miss anything:
    http://www.xlr8r.com/podcast/2012/01/lv
    Thx people.

Right-click > Show Description will show the description. No clickable links though. Don't know of any way to get at the other "enhanced" content.

  • Itunes syncs ALL apps

I have the weirdest bug since a while...
everytime, or almost everytime that I connect my iphone to the mac via usb cable, itunes says "settings have been changed, do you want to apply?" then it doesnt matter whether I agree or not, what happens in both cases is, that itunes starts syncing ALL my apps to the phone, which of course doesnt work, because they would take way to much space on the device.
I then have to manually delete every single app!!!! Then I can sync again via wifi.
    What the heck? Any solutions?

    Can I chime in?
I had the same problem when I finally ralized apps were being synched from the sidebar ABOVE the "Automatically Sync New Apps" checkbox. What I did is click "Remove" on apps that were automatically syncing. After I clicked "Remove" on all apps that were syncing, I then clicked "Apply". The iPod then synced and FINALLY solved the problem.
I attached a pic of the sidebar I'm talking about. Instead of "Install" all the unwanted apps had a "Remove" button next to them. Good luck.

  • How can I download all episodes for a podcast in 11.2

SInce upgrading the option to download all episodes is gone.  I think with all the problems introduced in upgrading I will stop installing new versions unless forced to

I do not have an 'My Podcasts' option.  Ihave Podcasts and On this IPod
In Podcasts if I click on a podcasts no options display.
Also, why do some of my podcasts now delete automatically after they have been played and some do not.
I have my Settings set to not auto delete
I have to say that Apple seems to screw more things up than it fixes.  I would suggest when you include new options you default it to keep it as it was before upgrade so people can choose to use it and not have to reset things not to use it

  • ITunes syncing all music as duplicates

I have recently had to transfer my music library from one laptop to another and this went smoothly. After everything was transfered I went through my iTunes and deleted any duplicates there may be and added all album art that went missing over the transfer, well when I decided to sync my iPad to my new laptop iTunes went through and made every song, some 2000 or so, a duplicate so when I view the song list there are two of every song I have. I thought there was a problem with my iTunes so I went through it, but everything on there is single copy and perfectly fine it is only through the sync that I have gained doubles of everything. Is there anyone that's having the same kind of problem and can help?

I have a completely untested & unconfirmed hypothesis that "something" changed in the last iOS update with the way iTunes keeps track of which items are on the device. My guess is that it has something to do with being able to identify the same track whether on the device, in your library or in the cloud. Whatever the cause I found I needed to manually delete a bunch of albums on my iPad that were showing as dupes or without artwork which didn't get resolved by syncing. Since I deleted them and resynced it has all been fine.
Add the above to the fact that you have transferred the library in a way which duplicated it and then manually deduped and the chances are that iTunes isn't housekeeping the media properly.
Try deleting all the music from the device, by syncing with a single empty playlist for example, to see if you can clean out the media. Then add back what you want.
If all else fails backup and then restore the device.

  • Subscribe to Photoshop TV Podcast, but don't want all episodes in my iPhone

I think if I sync. all episodes with iPhone, there will be not enough space for other materials. Can anybody suggest me what to do? Thanks in advance.
    Powerbook G4 1.33Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

You have the option in iTunes under the Podcast Tab for the iPhone to select how you would like podcasts downloaded. You can have many options from "All New" to " 1 Unplayed." When you play the podcast on the iPhone, it asks you if you would like to delete it to save memory on the phone. When you delete it on the phone, it does not delete it in iTunes, so you still have a copy. If you view an "unplayed" on the iPhone, it will update the status to "Played" in iTunes the next time you sink.
By the way . .great choice in podcast . .I subscribe to that one also . .

  • 5th Gen iPod Video not syncing all video podcasts

My 5th Gen iPod video is not syncing all of my video podcasts.
I did specify in the settings to sync all videos, but for some reason it only places 3 of each on the iPod. This is using the latest version of iTunes, OS X 10.4.8, and iPod up-to-date.
This did work fine with the previous version of iTunes and only seemed to happen since the "upgrade".
I've tried restoring the ipod - didn't work
    Reinstalled iTunes - didn't work
    Rebooted system - didn't work
    Undocked/Redocked iPod - didn't work
    Please Help.

Assuming you're running iTunes 7, connect the iPod and wait for it to appear in the iTunes source list. When it does, click on it, and click on the 'podcast' tab. Make sure it is set to sync all podcasts. Check the 'video' tab as well.
iTunes 7 included several new options for setting just how the iPod will update in iTunes. So, it's a good idea to go through them and make sure they're set exactly how you'd like them to be.
    Hope this helps

  • A new episode available but itunes saya all downloaded

  • ITunes adds all my apps when I sync my iPhone 5s even with 'add new apps' unticked

I have hundreds of apps in my iTunes but only a select few that i want on my phone. When i plug my phone in to sync new music playlists to it, iTunes syncs all of my apps to my phone as well and then i have to go through on my phone deleting all the unwanted ones. I have the box 'sync all new apps' unticked so why does itunes think these are all new apps that i want to be on my phone? It didn't always do this it only started doing it the last few times, so maybe the start of this year.
Any suggestions appreciated, VERY annoying situation.

You can select all apps individually, that you want to sync to your iPhone, when you plug in your phone.
Select your phone in the "Devices" section, and in the "Apps" tab, click "Remove" for each of the apps, that you do not want on your iPhone.

  • ITunes 11.1 (for the Mac) - Podcasts

Prior to iTunes 11.1, viewing and organizing my podcasts and episodes of podcasts used to be easy and enjoyable.
With iTunes 11.1 there are four ways of viewing and organizing podcasts and none works well: 1) Unplayed, 2) My Podcasts, 3) My Stations, and 4) List.
    1)  Unplayed:  This option displays all episodes of unplayed podcasts in the form of a list.  The only way of viewing this list, however, is by date, i.e. the date that the episodes were downloaded.  There is no way of organizing these unplayed episodes by podcast.  Furthermore, podcast artwork often doesn't appear alongside the episode.
    2)  My Podcasts:  This option displays, in a lefthand column, all of one's podcasts.  It also displays, in a righthand column, all the corresponding episodes of a podcast.  This is my favourite option.  Unfortunately, there's no quick way of re-arranging, e.g. by name, the order of podcasts in the lefthand column.  One has to manually drag the podcasts into a desired order.  Podcast artwork often doesn't appear and, although, one can easily right-click to "Check Selection," there's no way to "Uncheck Selection."
    3)  My Stations:  I have no idea what the logic is underlying this display option.
    4)  List:  This option displays, in a single column, all of one's podcasts along with episodes of each.  Scrolling through this list, hoever, is extremely erratic even with a brand new Mac.
A word of advice to Apple engineers: change for the sake of change is not beneficial to your customers.  Simplicity and clarity in your software is a virtue.

    Hello, macpro3000.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Deleting a station in iTunes Radio is similar to deleting other iTunes media.  To delete a station, click the desired station, then press delete on your keyboard. You can also delete multiple stations by clicking and dragging your cursor over multiple stations. Once you've selected the desired stations, press delete on your keyboard.

  • How can I sync all my music but a certain playlist?

Is there any way i can make my itunes sync all my music to my ipod except a certain playlist? For example, i have about 30 or so Christmas songs that i'd rather not have come on randomly when i leave my ipod plugged in and on shuffle. I realize I can make it sync certain playlists but that would mean I would have to add all my other music into a playlist and sync from there. It seems like that would be a hassle to add each song one by one into a playlist. Any suggestions? Thanks-

Create a smart playlist called iPod Music matching all the rules Playlist is Music and Playlist is not Xmas (or Exclude or whatever you want to call the other playlist). Sync with the new playlist.

  • ITunes 7 attempting to sync all Podcast episodes regardless of selection

I don't know if it's just me, but iTunes 7 seems to be ignoring which podcast episodes I have selected to sync and which I haven't, instead attempting to sync them all then erroring. I can get it to work if I only sync new episodes, but I like to keep favorites of previous 'casts as well. Is this an annoying functionality change, a bug, or did I just miss a change in how to achieve my previous configuration?
*Also wanted to add that this now removes partially played podcasts since they're no longer "unplayed", and the "10 most recent/unplayed" options means I can't load whole podcast books anymore.

I've got a separate thread running on this, which Derek also replied on (thanks for posting in both, Derek):

The solution Mark found is not working for me. After disabling "manually manage" to enable "sync checked", and then re-enabling "manually manage", it at first appears like "sync checked" will stay enabled. But after hitting the Apply button, "sync checked" turns off again.
