Itunes taking over 1 minute to load

Hi,
I have over 1500 songs in my itunes library. It used to load really quickly, but it seems the more songs I put into the library the longer it takes to load now. It takes over 2 minutes from clickling on the icon to itunes loading. Is there something I can do to make this quicker. My PC is brand new. It has over 1gig of memory and dual processor, so it isn't the PC which is causing it to run slowly. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks DAWN

hi Dawn!
hmmmmm. first check to see if either your qttask.exe or ituneshelper.exe have been disabled on startup:
Background processes installed with iTunes 6 for Windows
to do so, head into your MSCONFIG, and make sure that the are both checked in your startup items tab.
Using MSCONFIG to troubleshoot conflicts in Windows
if they were unchecked, check them, restart the PC, and try launching itunes again.
any improvement in itunes startup performance then?
love, b

  • After update, iTunes takes over 30 minutes to start up

I updated iTunes to 10.6.3.25 a couple of days ago to the latest version, and now it takes over 30 minutes to load.  I click the iTunes icon on my desktop and get the mouse spinner for about 2 seconds, then it disappears.  During that time, I can see in task manager that iTunes.exe using the about 25% of my CPU (i3 550) and over 100,000k of my 8GB of RAM.  After it finally loads, I plug in my iPod and iTunes gives no indication that it sees it at all.  Windows sees it, but iTunes doesn't.  My question is, what can I do to fix this?  I've already went into programs & features and went to changes and hit repair on each of the apple programs I have on my computer and that changed nothing, and I also tried this.
tl;dr iTunes takes forever to load and iPod doesn't show up in iTunes

UPDATE: After having had my iPod plugged in for TWO HOURS, it has finally been detected by iTunes.

  • Bootcamp windows7 freezing on start up and taking around 40 minutes to load. Mac mountain lion also taking around 5 minutes to load on start up

I would like to have your kind support..Bootcamp windows7 freezing on start up and taking around 40 minutes to load. Mac mountain lion also taking around 5 minutes to load on start up.

My first step would be to get rid of "Norton protection". Boot from your OS 10.6 disc, navigate through your hard drivve and trash anything that is Norton. Empty the trash.
Next, run Disk Utility and ask it to repair the hard drive.

  • IWeb takes over 10 minutes to load

When I try to load iWeb it take over 10 minutes to load. Anyone else have this problem? Can I stop it from loading iPhoto along side >?

Backup and launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed to rebuild the library. Select the last three options.
Launch iWeb and see if you can add photos from iPhoto now. What iWeb uses to see the photos in iPhoto is the AlbumData.xml file that is created in the iPhoto Library package. If the above doesn't work try the following:
    1 - close iPhoto.
2 - go to your Pictures folder, select your library package and open it as shown in this screenshot:
3 - locate the AlbumData.xml and AlbumData2.xml file and move them to the desktop.
4 - launch iPhoto which will recreate those files.
5 - launch iWeb and try again.
A last suggestion is to reapply the iLife Media Browser Update and the iLife Support 9.0.3 update.

  • Why does my iTunes take 3 - 5 minutes to load?

Recently my iTunes is taking forever to load. I have a late 2009 iMac, which still performs well in every other area except starting iTunes. I'm running fully updated Lion OS. My iTunes library is decent sized, but nothing that should take this long, about 20gb of mostly music and a few movies and podcast. I began noticing this a few weeks after I upgraded to Lion, but the first few weeks it worked fine, so I'm not sure if its Lion related at all. Once the program is actually started it performs well and is very responsive. For the first 30 seconds after I start iTunes, my system seems sluggish and bogged down, then it snaps back to normal speed, but iTunes still takes several minutes after that to start.
Anyways, any advice or tips on speeding up iTunes startup time would be great, Thanks.

Solved my problem by reading another thread:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3191240?tstart=0
Thought I would post the solution in case anyone stumbles over this thread.
After putting ituneshelper.app back in startup items, my itunes starts in about 15 seconds instead of 3 minutes.

  • My purchased movies are taking over an hour to load.  Why?

Apple TV is telling me (suddenly) that my purchased movies will take over an hour to load and play.  This literally started happening 10 minutes into a movie.  It's never taken more than 10 seconds to load in the past.  My internet connection is up and working normally.  Why would this start happening so suddenly?

Power cycle the ATV and router then try again.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 - takes over 4 minutes to load - hangs on "Scanning for plug-ins..."

Since mid-February 2014, having problems with both Photoshop Elements 10 and Photoshop CS4 extended (v 11.0.2) - both take around 4 minutes to load, when previously they loaded very quickly.
In Photoshop CS4 there is no activity on-screen for 2 minutes, then it hangs on the start up screen for another two minutes on "Scanning for plug-ins." Similar issue with Elements 10.
I am running on Windows 8.1, 64-bit. I also have Lightroom 5.4 installed.
Any help gratefully received, as this is driving me mad!

  • ITunes 8 Takes 5 Minutes to Load Up!

After the iTunes 8 update, my iTunes takes at least 5 minutes to load.
Anyone else have this problem or is it just my comp.?

  • Running apple hardware test, and taking over 15 minutes, normal?

My MacBook pro won't start up, gerble wheel keeps going around for over 20 minutes, using "hardware test" disk now and it's been over 20 minutes again, with no completion... The progress bar is 7/8's done, but it's been in that spot way too long? What do I do now??

If you want it replaced for free, you need to have Apple do it. However, there may be reasons to consider replacing the disk yourself, at your own expense, instead of doing that.
    1. If Apple does it, they'll keep the disk they remove — and whatever data is on it. So if your data isn't backed up and you don't want to lose it, don't have Apple replace the disk unless you can make special (and probably expensive) arrangements to have the store or service provider back your data up and transfer it to the new disk for you. If the old drive is badly hosed, that may not even be possible.
    2. If you replace the drive yourself, you'll get to keep the old drive and you can try to salvage any un-backed-up data from it at your leisure, using data recovery software that you can buy and use just as easily as Apple can.
    3. Ask how long it would take for the store or Service Provider to get the machine back to you, being sure their time estimate includes transferring your data if necessary. If you don't want to be without the machine for as long as they say you will, that's a good reason to do it yourself.
    4. If Apple replaces the drive, they'll put in one with the same specs as the original. If you'd like a larger or faster drive as a replacement, you'll have to buy and install one yourself.
    5. Installing a hard drive in any unibody MBP is almost ridiculously easy. The instructions for doing so are printed right in the little user manual that came with your computer.
    6. Almost any replacement hard drive you might choose will cost less, and some of them much less, than $100. So particularly if the store or AASP wants a week or more for the job and your time is worth money, doing it yourself is probably going to be a bargain even though it will cost you a bit.

  • Why is my exporting taking over 1 minute per second of video in the sequence?

Hi folks, brand new to Premiere Pro (CS6) here, previous FCP user many years ago. I have a bunch of AVCHD footage shot on a Sony DSLR, and I'm currently playing with bits and pieces of it trying to figure out my ideal workflow. My footage is 1920x1080 (1.0), 59.94 fps, progressive. I took a random 15 second clip and threw it into a new sequence, put a Warp Stabilizer on it, rendered it, and now I'm trying to export it. However, regardless of whether I'm doing a 1080p H.264 export or a 720x480 AVI export, it seems to be taking FOREVER...about 15-20 minutes for this 15 second clip. I must be doing something wrong. Help?
    System specs:
Intel 4770K, overclocked to 4.2 GHz
NVidia GTX 780 (with GPU acceleration enabled, though looking at the GPU loading in GPU-Z shows it consistently at 0% for any type of rendering/exporting)
    16 GB DDR3 1600 RAM
    Windows 7 x64
For the sequence preview file format, I'm using P2 1080i-1080p 60Hz DVCPROHD, at 1920x1080. Max Bit Depth and Max Render Quality are unchecked.

Thanks, but I don't see much of a difference with that checked. Even a 4 second long file is taking 10+ minutes to export with just a warp stabilizer added and previews rendered.
Maybe the fact that I'm using 59.94 fps footage has something to do with it? I can't think of anything else. I'll try recording some stuff in a different format and see what happens. That would be a shame though, I'd like the final product to be in 1080p instead of 1080i.
Still not seeing any GPU usage at all, regardless of what effect or anything I'm using.
[EDIT] And all of a sudden, everything seems to be working fine! No idea how. Weird! [/EDIT]

  • Homepage takes over 1 minute to load after I click on Firefox icon

I have to wait a minute or more for the Firefox home page to load after I click the icon.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== couple weeks or so ago

    Hello Gordon.
You may be having a problem with some extension or plugin that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

  • Desktop taking 1/2 Minutes to load!

When my desktop shows up, its not usable for about a minute and half to two. Why is this? How can i sort this out?
I have checked my login items, no desktop icons, cleaned the cache.
    Thanks!

Yeah, the desktop show up and i can click away.
I'll streamline the problem for you....
... Basically, you know when your desktop shows up? Well, it should be ready to use straight away, right? Well, when mine shows up it is kind of locked up; it seems as though something big is still loading.
You see, when i come to use an app in my dock, or right click the desktop to change the background, or anything like that after i log in it just does not respond. After a minute or so everything i have pressed springs up all in one go. The finder will pop up, firefox, the right click menu, ical. Its as if something is struggling to load up or something, and when it does everything works fine and fast.
I'm not saying that 'something big' is actually loading, its the only way i can describe the slow load up. Any suggestions still?

  • Itunes taking over

Since installing itunes v6 my other cd burning software does not read my cd drive.
How can I get Sonic Record Now to burn CDs again instead of using itunes?
    Packard Bell Easynote   Windows XP

    I solved the problem
After all the time spending with the tech people, of which was not resolved by them and doing all the new installs per there advice never solved the problem.
The problem was........ itunes was searching for the music store and that was the only problem. When i was offline it could not find the store.

  • Taking over 2 minutes to Sleep

When I press the sleep function in Finder it takes over 2 mins before the computer will Sleep with no apps open.
When it wakes it is now making a loud buzzing noise that will not stop until I restart.

Check your RAM. Have you installed additional (not original) RAM? If so, try removing it and starting up with just the memory that came with the iMac and see if it still exhibits the same problems. My iMac had trouble sleeping and it sounded like the fans would spin at maximum speed (incredibly noisy). I took out the extra RAM and it works like normal again. Strangely, the same stick of RAM worked fine in another 20" iMac G5 I had.
